J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. over topic: there's a private suiting event going on at J.Crew. I have used their suiting services before, and very happy with them. Especially for men, they did a wonderful job helping my husband pick his tuxedo with complimentary tailoring for custom fit. So recommend if you want to try.

  4. I shared photos of the new Metallic-stripe leather pouch here. It doesn't say on the website, but the size is @ 8.5" X 11.5", minus .5" or so for seams, and unlined.

It's a good size to use as a clutch/wristlet, or tote bag organizer. The white pebbled leather part has a nice matte finish. HTH!

  5. I'm conflicted. I ordered the Boyfriend Flannel Shirt in red plaid. The flannel fabric is really nice and so is the pattern. It's thin, but super cozy and not cheap or threadbare feeling. Buuuutt the shape is a little weird. It's meant to be oversized, but it is super full and flared out almost through the body. The sleeves and shoulders are a good fit, although, I possibly could size down one. I just don't think it'd fix the super huge-ness through the body to size down, and then it might feel a touch snug through the shoulders. It's very oversized, and would mainly work w/leggings or skinny jeans, which is fine b/c I live in leggings in the winter. Also, as the reviews online mention, the slits on the side are fairly high which wouldn't be an issue for me, b/c I always wear a fitted cami underneath most outfits I wear with leggings. I'm really on the fence. Which probably means I should just return it. Anyone else have this and love it??

    1. Btw, it'd be a great maternity shirt.

    2. I have it and feel the same way you do. I've worn it, so it's mine now :) But it's not a favorite. It's easiest to wear when I just keep it unbuttoned and wear it like a jacket over a tee. I wear flannels untucked and even with a cami under it I think it looks a bit awkward. Or maybe it looks fine but it feels awkward to me. It's just not as good as their other flannel shirts, and only because of the odd shape.

    3. Thanks for the feedback. Meh, I think I'll return it. It's not like it's a steal price-wise. To have this much ambivalence, I should just return it. It's a shame, b/c it could've been a great shirt.

    4. You should. Something better will come along - maybe next year they'll fix some of the shape problems. Some of their flannel shirts this year were fantastic and shaped normally, but then they did this with a few too.

  6. I'm styling the Toothpick Cone Denim jeans in Kelly Wash on the blog tonight. They run TTS.

  7. Canyon Crossbody bag (#b3933). Adjusting this was a pain because there are two buckle thingies to put through the holes, but at least it did adjust, and on both ends of the strap, so I could make it long enough. I wish the main purse closure was magnetic. The slot pocket in the back does have a magnetic closure, although it really doesn't even need a closure. The bag is a nice small size, seems durable, pebbled leather. Hardware is black. Not sure if it's a keeper or not, but I do like it.

  8. OT but Madewell sent an email this morning with a private link to the Spring Lookbook. I am not sure I like a lot but a few things for sure and finally something new to look at...

    1. i wasn't too impressed with the lookbook either which surprised me. i spent A LOT of money on madewell this past fall and winter though so it's nice to give my wallet a break.

    2. I really want the mules so that's probably the only thing I'll order (after I call and get pricing). There were only two other items I was possibly interested in but I thought last year's spring lookbook had more items I was excited about. I really hate how they don't have any garmet sizing detail available though. So many things are oversized and it's hard to gauge whether to size down a little or a lot.

  9. any petite ladies have thoughts or reviews on the wool melton peacoat? it's $99 before the 50% off so it's REALLY tempting!

  10. i have both the toothpicks in destructed miller wash and blacksmith wash and highly recommend them. they're eligible for the 50% off right now at steal prices in my opinion! i took my usual toothpick size for the destructed miller but sized down for the blacksmith.

  11. I received the Madewell blanket scarf yesterday and fell instantly in love. It's been years since I paid full price for anything, it's worth it!

  12. Did anyone purchase the Begg & Co. Lambswool Plaid Scarf in white/red/green? I wanted to know how it looks in real life and whether if it's worth paying full price for.

  13. I ordered the other color way from O Connell's Clothing, but haven't received it yet. It looks to be the same product as JC's, but is less than half the price (the measurements are a bit different, but I dont 100% trust JC's item descriptions :)). OConnell's lists them for $85, but has 20% off right now. $7 shipping, and no tax for me. Just sharing :)
