J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigisGoneShopping (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The July catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest AUGUST catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

Even better! J.Crew is offering free shipping on all orders (today only!), in addition to the extra 40-50% off final sale styles using promo code TREAT. The latter offer expires August 3, 2014.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I love the high-rise cargos (item B0124H)! I have been lamenting the dearth of natural-rise yet stylish pants for years, and while the dearth still prevails overall, I am excited to see these in what they say is a higher rise. I will be trying a pair of these for sure. I also like the tassel earrings (item B3447), which is unusual for me, as I usually don't even look much at J Crew's jewelry.

    1. On second thought, though I love the look of the tassel earrings, I bet they are heavy.

  2. Luckily for my wallet and my marriage not much for me today. I got the Aug catalog in the mail yesterday. There was more new "fine" jewelry in the catalog, looking forward to seeing that online. I might not be able to pass on the free ship and grab something from the sale again today!

    1. I missed out on previous issues of the herringbone vest, so thanks for the alert! Strange that it's showing up as final sale though.

    2. Thanks for this! I almost purchased the Warm Bisque on Ebay for close to twice the price that it's online today. I love JCAs!

    3. I own the retail herringbone excursion and wear it constantly. I'd highly suggest the factory version.

  4. Oh dear. That patch pocket suiting dress is unfortunate. On the other hand, the Angie dress is right up my alley. I think that could even be layered with a shirt and look smashing.

The Gabriela Artigas subtle cuff has been on my radar. It's actually $6 cheaper than on her own site. I may have to bite on that. I can see wearing that every single day.

  5. I'll be interested to see reviews of the Endless Shirt. I've been looking for a longer tunic-length white button down for quite awhile now, and this one looks as if it just might be a good option.

OT: Has anyone tried the Factory pajamas? I'm wondering if the cotton and fit are the same as the retail version.

    1. I haven't tried the retail pajamas, but the factory (aqua with polka dots) were so thin they were see through-I returned them. HTH

    2. Factory (cotton, not flannel) pajamas are not as nice as retail. They're okay, though. The fit is the same on the pants (I haven't bought a factory pj top). I bought my factory pj pants a couple of years ago, though, so not sure if all is the same.

  7. The pleated lattice skirt in solid or "hidden floral" looks really cute! But unfortunately they're all in poly...But the Harper scalloped suede flats look incredible though. I want to see some reviews before I order them. I pre-ordered the Collection Dulci calf hair kitten heels in black white stripe...I'll wait and see if they work out for me...

    1. I tried on the Harper black suede scalloped flats yesterday in my regular non Jcrew size 7 & they were too long for me. They fit similar to the patent Vivs that I think also run big on my narrow foot. I have few Jcrew shoes because my extremely narrow foot is hard to fit & the store near doesn't carry many shoes. I have Milla flats & the purple suede Vivs with the flowers on the toe from a few years ago. Both are size 7. Those shoes are gorgeous though. I'll try the 61/2 next trip to the store. HTH

  8. I'm really liking some of the more casual offerings, like the ruched knit dress and funnel sweatshirt in stripe. they're certainly slouchier than j. crew typically is, but I enjoy the look.

what I find weird, though, is that some jewelry pieces from the last roll-out have just disappeared off the website entirely; they don't even have "out of stock" pages: the tassel trim statement necklace and earrings, the poppy fringe necklace, and the mixed media geometry necklace. maybe they'll show back up later this week in the sale section? a girl can dream.

    3. Ditto. It looks like a new weekend favorite. I am holding out for my rewards (and possibly a cardholder promo) before buying.

I finally caved and purchased the Martina Suede Wedges in Black. They are $49.99 + 50% off in-store, but still full price online.

      Delete
    4. Mel, what store had the Martinas for that price? Did they have any more?

      Delete
    5. I'd love to find some as well, my stores have not had them from what I've seen.

      Delete
    6. They were in the San Francisco Westfield Centre store. Even if your store doesn't have the item available, they should be able to verify and honor the in-store price when placing an online order. I believe there is a full size run online.

      Delete
    7. Thank you, Mel. I love that store, they always have the best bags!

    8. Thanks, Mel-that's an awesome deal!

  9. Review of august new arrivals on my blog:

    -vote for love tee
    -funnel neck sweatshirt
    cascade blouse in blue floral
    -sleeveless tuni in heart dot
    -turner pants
    -mixed media sweater
    -sweatpants

  11. SOLD OUT or BACK ORDERED. Already?? WTH? I look at a couple of things I like and they are gone or back ordered. That REALLY makes me excited about the new roll out!!! Geez.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They had a really limited supply and a lot of things are pre-ordered when they first released the lookbook on pinterest I believe.

      Delete
    2. I don't think they've really sold out, I think they probably just didn't get the shipment in at the same time as they put the catalog out (catalog and release contents are probably all determined way in advance). I'm sure it will all trickle in eventually.

  12. I'm surprised at how much I liked considering the style guide was a snooze fest...I'm really hoping for a full price promotion since I have several things in my cart...loving the gilded paisley pencil skirt, excited that there's a wool pencil in navy (finally!), the inky floral blouse, classic crepe skirt (already sold out though??), pink schoolboy blazer (but it doesn't show up when I click on it...), pleated crepe pants, also loving the metallic jacquard cigarette pants but boo on them only going up to a size 12 :/ also the Harper flats (less $$ than the Vivs!), Roxie pumps, and the posy necklace/pendant necklace. Wow. Ok...that's it for now....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wonder if they're planning to permanently phase out the Vivs, which I love. The patent Harper looks nearly identical in shape and color. The only difference seems to be that they're no longer made in Italy. Most of the Vivs also recently went on promo, which I haven't really seen before. Just speculation.

  13. I am absolutely loving all the understated gold jewelry. I should just hand over my wallet to J.Crew now although some of the pricier pieces are already showing up as sold out. Just as well, I'm telling myself.
I also just cannot quit eyeing the Silk Sleeveless dress in Dusty Pomegranate. I am very much in doubt that this style would work with my curves but I have amazing day-dreams of styling ideas for fall in my head. Sigh. I'm going to end up buying it. It's going to break my heart when it inevitably doesn't work out.

  14. I love this rollout and an really most excited for the merino swing sweater in a zillion colors. This sweater sold out its last two runs (in way fewer colors though), which actually has me contemplating full price purchases in July! I also want to try te endless shirts. Could be great (but very Eileen Fisher, no?)

    ReplyDelete
  15. This rollout was a snooze fest for me. Glad to see others are finding things to love. I wish listed the guilded paisley pencil skirt and silk sleeveless top. I am happy as others mentioned that there is some understated jewelry. Hoping next month's rollout will have more to love for me.

  16. I spotted a few things I really liked. Love the fine jewellery collection - I'm over the giant statement necklaces, and looking for daintier pieces - but ouch, those prices are eye-watering!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I was looking forward to that jewelry too but the prices are ridiculous. No thanks! They aren't even close to being affordable. This has to be one of the dumbest collaborations they've done, because of the price points. The least expensive necklace is $322. The simple charm necklaces are $350. The tags alone are $625-$975. The charms alone are $220-$625. At least 4 necklaces are > $2000, a couple of which are $3000. Four bracelets are $3000. I'm sure the pieces are all very nice, but most of them are not very unique or interesting.

      Delete
    2. Most of the pieces are 14k gold (not vermeil or costume jewellery). Those price points are about right for real gold. Blue Nile's price points are similar for 14 and 15k gold.

      Delete
    3. Typo ... 14 or 18k gold.

      Delete
    4. I'd never pay those prices anywhere. J. Crew is a mall store, I think they forgot.

      Delete
    5. I am also annoyed that they dedicated two pages to the gold jewelry in the style guide without putting any prices on it. It didn't say the pieces were 14 or 18k gold. I thought it was a bit misleading, it led me to believe I could buy them, anyway.

      Delete
    6. The price points for the J. Crew branded items are about right for 'branded' items in 14K gold (i.e. slightly more than a comparable generic item) but some of the designer items are still really overpriced compared to a comparable generic. A good example is the Jennifer Fisher 30" 10K gold chain necklace for $1400 USD - this is a simple chain with no extra stuff. In comparison, a 24" 14K cable chain from Blue Nile costs $200, and in a quick search of Ebay, I found a jeweller selling a 30" 10K gold chain necklace for $50.

      Delete
    7. Thanks, Louise. That's quite a price difference. It seems we are expected to pay a premium for the designer name, not something I am willing to do.
I do prefer the more understated designs over the large statement pieces. It would be nice to have these offered at more reasonable prices. Sterling silver could be a nice, affordable option.

  17. Lots of things to love and it's just August. I'm a sucker for Fall fashion at JC+Madewell. Wallet, prepare to be abused.

    ReplyDelete
  18. only item on my radar is the merino sweater with leather pockets- black or grey or even both. Has anyone tried it on already? how is the fit? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  19. This August roll-out was just okay for me. I was hoping the 'Looks We Love' would show cute outfits but I didn't like any of it at all. What's going on? I'm rolling my eyes at you Adidas slippers...
The colors are not rich. Lots of navy (nothing against navy) and gray. And what's up with having yellow in this roll-out? Looks out of place...

The Utility vest looked interesting on the style guide..once I saw it online on a model, it looks ugly. If a pretty model can't make the utility vest work, then it'll look uncool on my 4'11 self. Haha!

BTW, I can't stand those words on shirts. Make it stop. Phrases like, "Say Yes, Long Live Love, Vote for Love, You are Here".
I wouldn't want to walk around with a 'Say Yes' on my chest. It's like I am asking for it.

    What I do like:
    -Collection silk peasant top
    -Merino swing sweater
    -Merino leather pocket tee
    -Collection cashmere seamed sweater
    -High rise jean
-Pleated crepe pant in peppermint ice
-Turner pant (slightly fascinated with this, have to see in person)
-Pleated lattice skirt (slightly fascinated with this...)
    -New Balance 620
-Chelsea rain boot in black (LOVE! Been wanting low rain boots, and can't afford the Loeffler Randall)
-Perforated monk strap loafers in black (would look nice with a wool pencil or straight cut pants)
-Harper patent flats (wondering if this will be comfortable than the vivs)
Harper calf hair flats in hazelnut leopard (Love)
-Dulci scalloped kitten heel in black (Love))
-BRVTVS small bar earrings (Love how understated and edgy these are)
    -Catbird rings (so cute)

    1. Oh your comment about the slides and "say yes" top made me laugh!!!! ;) I totally agree that the "say yes" top has to be worn with great caution. I can't imagine the commentary from folks while wearing it. Did the designers think that through?

    2. JSR,i reviewed the Turner pants on my blog.
BTW,i am 5 2" ,so you can see them on somebody your height.

    3. Alexis - I know right? It would be funny if a woman wore that 'Say Yes' top to a club or bar...hehehe. You are inviting trouble.

And also the phrase, 'You Are Here', is plain dumb.

Yeah, what is going on with their design team? Why is this being approved for production? The font they used, and the size of the letters..oh lordy, I could go on and on...
If J.Crew wants to be cheeky, quirky, this is not the way to go...it's juvenile-where it belongs A&F, American Eagle, F21-in that demographic.

Let's hope September's roll-out will be MUCH better.

    1. Great tip. They make mistakes every once and again. A couple weeks ago I got a pair of chino shorts online for $2.49! They had been marked $4.99 with a 50% promo. I think they meant for the shorts to be $24.99.

    8. Yes, never had their toothpick before and since there is no picture I have no clue! Thanks. I don't like things tight at all on me....so I should probably get both 31 and 32 as well.

  21. Agreed with many of your choices, especially the shoes (Harper and Dulci especially). Would love to get a look at the biker boots too. Prices don't seem too crazy.

REALLY agreed with your dislike of the phrase T's. They are very cheap looking IMO. And they didn't seem to sell well this past spring/summer so I'm surprised to see more this season. I guess they can be worn with the Adidas shower slides.

(BTW, the phrase T's for kids are pretty alarming. For several seasons now the boys shirts have had a strong theme: conquer, win, go-to-outer-space. The girls shirts are firmly in the love, pretty, sparkle, lets-be-friends mode. I wonder if anyone at JC looks at these offerings side by side?)

I'm waiting for excellent dresses and jackets and more color - next rollout perhaps.

The rest seems like it's better done at Madewell.

  23. Not a ton but I am sticking with classic/staples this go round for Fall. I like the longer white shirt, the check blue shirt, the gray merino V-neck cardigan and LOVE the leopard rain boots! Overall...nothing I must have and it will sit in my bag (except for the boots) for awhile and a promotion aside from free shipping.

  24. I must say I am much more impressed with this roll out than the horrid style guide displayed. I particularly like the Heart Dot Shirtdress, Chelsea rain boots in leopard, Elsie plaid pumps, Silk Sleeveless Dress, Funnel Sweatshirt in Stripe (simple but stylish), I also like the Military Shirtdress from the previous rollout. I don't understand the t shirts with saying fixation JCrew has, why not just some pretty feminine prints?

  27. Saw some new items in the store and while they were all decent; nothing making me want to pull the full price pin. All the additional percent off promos have spoiled me.

Speaking of spoiled, my fall wardrobe got some love with navy wool Ludlow pants on sale with the extra 50% off the sale price as well as a pair in brown tweed with 40% off and free shipping.

    2. Jan, we need to stand strong until September and allow our wallets some recovery time. Saving all this money was expensive. The funniest bit is all these great deals on fall/winter clothing won't get worm for months yet!

J.Crew is also opening a second store in Calgary at Market Mall later this summer. I'm impressed with how they're expanding in Canada.

    3. @Jcrew guy in Canada

I love your quote, 'saving all this money is expensive!' You are so right. I bought too many things on promo this summer, so I, too need to rest the wallet at least until Sept. Good thing the new rollout makes it easy to do so!

      Delete
    4. @wendy, ditto on that quote, love it. The new rollout is making it easier for me too.

@jcrew guy, I've done some charge-sends from various Canadian stores and have had excellent service. The SAs always seem happy to help.

  28. I'm not loving much to purchase in this rollout - the covered button plackets on the shirts, the poly pants, and the colors (especially the burgundy and the 'caravan blue') feel very 90's to me. The stuff that I think is cute is probably because I already have something similar in my closet. I stopped in the B&M today - 50% off sale is still going strong.

  29. Can someone please talk me out of the Italian Wool Collection dress. I have wanted it since they released it two years ago Every year they re-release it and it sells out immediately. Please tell me it is overpriced and not worth it. Please.

Otherwise, the new arrivals are SNORE! Boden is getting my money this fall.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @FlowerPower- that dress is the only thing I'm really loving from this rollout. I've wanted it since it was first offered as well but it doesn't really fit my lifestyle so wouldn't get much wear (I mostly wear dresses in spring/summer vs warmer dresses for fall).

Have you tried it? If not, IMO you should so you would know for sure and either cross it off your list or know you love it. :)

      Delete
    2. For what it's worth, I ordered the dress the second time they released it, kept it a few weeks, and then returned it. I thought it was the Holy Grail of dresses--work appropriate, etc.--since it kept selling out. It was not for me. It is very conservative and ladylike IMO; I really didn't have an occasion or the lifestyle for it. It doesn't hurt to try it--doing so def helped for me.

    3. While I may be in the minority finding lots to like in this rollout, I do agree with Flower Power that Boden's fall offerings are phenomenal!!

  30. Walked by the Crew today and decided to check out the new stuff in person. You know what I saw? Sweatshirts. Yep. Zip up sweatshirts. Just like the ones we've worn since I was a kid...camping, to the beach, walking the dog... Maybe thicker fabric, but they looked just the same. I don't get it. Picked up a long sleeve light weight ribbed tee....$80.00. I put it back. Saw the toile sweatshirt and sweatpants. Having sweatshirt fabric printed in toile doesn't make it more hip or stylish for me. I left and went over to Banana Republic and learned that fall (August) will be bring designs by Marissa. Good....something to look forward to.
