Today Only: 40% Off J.Crew's Sale

"Thanks!" to  many of you, who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering an additional 40% off select Sale styles with promo code TODAYONLY. This offer expires today, June 9, 2014. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com on June 9, 2014, from 12:01am ET through 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in Liquor Store or Ludlow Shops; in 769 Madison Avenue, Bloor Street or J.Crew Factory stores; at jcrewfactory.com; or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. In-store discount automatically applied at the register. To redeem online, enter code TODAYONLY in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
Brick & mortar stores are also running an additional percent off Sale (ranging from 40-50% depending on the store), however it is Final sale.

With so many items in the Sale section, I am not sure why J.Crew thinks one day is enough to move merchandise...

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  1. It could be 75% off, there is nothing in the sale section that I am remotely interested in. They need to move on!

    1. Agreed....plus the initial prices on many items have gone up....as to match the prices they were alreday previously offered at.....just a stupid sale tactic J Crew....and I am not buying it today....

    2. That's about where I am too. I'm tired of looking at the same stuff. I really wish they'd move it instead of let it linger in sale for literally years.

  2. Well, I bit on a pair of the Cafe Capris. I actually bought the same exact pair last year but have since dropped two pant sizes so I thought I'd take advantage of the $36 price tag & knowing they're on their way to extinction. No regrets!

  3. I'd like to order a pair of the Andie chinos, but I need the petite size and the color I want is $20 more expensive than the same color in the regular size. What the heck?? Any chance a VPS would get a price adjustment for me? Mine always seems to be out of the office, so I don't know if I should just talk to CS.

    1. I've run into the same issue with other items and haven't had any luck going through CS. But last time this happened, I went ahead and ordered the (more expensive) petite size and mentioned the pricing discrepancy on the online feedback form (the one that pops up after you submit an order). JC contacted me shortly thereafter with a price adjustment and an apology. If you don't have any luck with CS or a VPS, definitely try the feedback form!

    2. Danielle, someone posted in another thread having luck with a price adjustment for a petite item. I would give it a shot...

    3. Thanks, ladies! I discussed the price discrepancy with a sales specialist via chat and she said they would honor the price adjustment. Meanwhile, e-mails to my VPS are going unanswered. Sent a message to Erica@jcrew.com as well, with no response. Glad I went with the chat option.

  4. Can anyone comment on whether the Fatigue Jacket (the longer one - not sure if there are other versions) stands up to rain? Fabric content is listed as cotton, so leery of how it would be if it's wet outside?

    1. Hi Jruby18 - if you're talking about #47864, it will definitely get wet in the rain. It's not at all waterproof/weatherproof.

    2. Thanks silver-lining! I had a feeling that was the case. So glad I held off ordering.

  5. Has anyone tried the Scallop-pocket short in chambray sailboats? https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shorts/novelty/PRD~A5020/A5020.jsp?Nbrd=J&Nloc=en_US&Nrpp=48&Npge=1&Ntrm=SAILBOAT&isSaleItem=true&isFromSearch=true&isNewSearch=true&hash=row1

Are they TTS or do they run big? I'm normally a 4 in Jcrew chino shorts and a 26 in Jcrew denim shorts.

  6. I purchased a few dresses - the gold stripe dress on popback from last winter, as well as the embroidered floral racer dress and the striped basket weave dress. I'm most excited to try the striped basket weave dress! No final sale was enticing as well, although I admit that I've pretty much shopped out the sale section.

  7. Can anyone comment on washing the navy or black twill minnies at home? The website says these are "dry clean" while the foulard minnies are "machine wash". Also, did you guys get the same size for solid twill minnies as for foulard minnies? Thanks!

    1. I wash and air dry mine and have had no issues! I take the same size in both the twill and the foulard

    2. Same - I wash & air dry mine as well, no issues with shrinkage although they do fade slightly after a while, but that's to be accepted.

    3. Whoops, expected. And accepted, I guess, come to think of it. Boy, it's still Monday, isn't it?

    4. I wash mine inside out, zipped and hooked up, on delicate cycle. I left it once unzipped and not hooked, and even on delicate cycle, got a little snag on the front thigh. I also air dry. I find washing it at home reverses that sagging in the rear that happens with wear, while dry cleaning doesn't.

    1. Mine shipped free today and I only spent $26 :)

  9. NewJCA - I wash all of my Minnies in the washer on delicate and air dry and have had no issues. I have (and LOVE) the foulard Minnies and I took the same size in them as my regular Minnies. I'm 5'8" and opted for them in the tall size.

  10. I'm struck that many of the items in the 40% off sale aren't spring items at all. It's many of the same winter items that have been clogging the system for many months.

The June and October % off sales have always been my go-to purchase times at J Crew - sometimes I've bought a dozen things. But there's nothing for me in this sale (alas).

  11. I ordered another few items today - the fair isle leggings (merry early christmas to me...) and a couple of dresses.

I do feel badly - I've place five orders in the last few weeks - always ordering up to get the free shipping. I have a massive return to do this week. I already feel sorry for the store that is going to get it, but if returns were free like nordstrom or boden then I wouldn't have to play this game.

    Am I a bad customer?

    1. Don't feel bad. I do the same thing!

    2. I do that too. I think they hate me at my local b&m.

    1. Probably next Wednesday, 6/18, with the July catalog being loaded to JC's Pinterest page on Monday/Tuesday.

  13. I was excited to have finally found the lightweight chambray shorts in my size today after much stalking! And $26 shipped, even better!
