ReplyDeleteI reviewed the Tweed Front Merino Sweater here if anyone is interested.
ReplyDeleteGeneral thoughts = cut is boxy and a little on the large side. I would recommend sizing down 1 or 2. The black version also seems scratchier than the gray so would definitely wear something underneath!
I reviewed the antiqued floral tee and matching wool scarf here:
ReplyDeletehttp://onecantgetoverthehabit.blogspot.ca/2013/09/labour-day-purchases-from-sj-and-j-crew.html
Loved both of these items. The colours are muted and pretty with the lovely J Crew touch of previous seasons in the pattern on the t - in this case periwinkle. The scarf is a gorgeous melange of pinks and browns and creams - very pretty. It is also HUGE!
Last week I reviewed the monks strap shoes, pocket front skirt and pale pink cashmere V Neck:
http://onecantgetoverthehabit.blogspot.ca/2013/08/j-crew-new-arrivals-reviews-pics-of.html
I loved the patch pocket skirt - lovely gray and gorgeous construction IMO, just didn't suit the body type! The V Neck colour is lovely and works well with other fall colours. The monks straps were lovely, but were too big. I had sized up at the recc. of the VPS to a 7, but think the 6.5 would have been better. However, I was concerned that they would be tight at the toe box. One that for the price should probably be tried on in person!
It's a shame the monk strap shoes didn't work out; they look pretty neat. I love menswear-crossovers for women so I'm excited to see there is that option to try on that look--though at $350, I won't be able to bite any time soon :D
DeleteThe monk strap shoes do look more impressive online. I think you're right to return them, as they should be basically perfect at that price point. There are other options out there, I'm sure.
DeleteThe cashmere sweater is absolutely beautiful, lovely color on you! I have yet to purchase cashmere from J. Crew, though. I still have a handful of cashmere sweaters and turtlenecks from the late 90's and early 2000's from various other brands and they have held up well for the most part. But they are due for replacement and the two 100% cashmere turtlenecks I bought recently from Ann Taylor and Theory are not only considerably more expensive than these oldies, but the fabric is thinner and already starting to pill after a few months' wear and two dry-cleans.
If you could, please let me know how your collection sweater holds up over time. I'm willing to pay a collection price if the quality is actually better.
Not sure what is happening with the Minnies lately. I purchased my first two pairs earlier in the Spring and love them. During the recent promos, I picked up the pinot noir and a back-up navy one since I use my first pair so much. My first two pairs stop an inch above my ankle. The pinot noir was almost an inch shorter. The back-up navy one was almost an inch longer, stopping at the top of my ankle bone. I feel like the back-up navy one is also done in a slightly thinner fabric because there were a bunch of unsightly creases in the seat and knee area. I wasn't paying attention to the fabric quality for the pinot noir because I was so distracted by the draft on my ankles, a very unusual occurrence given my short legs. I'm not even bothering to exchange.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've done this before with JC, finding an item that I like early in the season and then trying to buy a back up or different color and noticing the fabric quality and cut go downhill. Is it just me, or anyone else notice this, too?
Twice I've tried on 2 different styles of pants in the store, but had to order the color I wanted online. The online pants that I got sent to me fit way tighter both times. I don't understand why the store ones would fit good, but the ones I got from online fit and look horrible. Same sizes but different colors. Could it be a difference between the colors I ordered vs. the colors I tried on in store? Either way, neither worked out.
DeleteThis is a little gross/weird, but could be from other people trying on in store - maybe those have stretched a bit.
DeleteThat is gross/weird but also probably true.
DeleteBack when I worked retail, items of identical style and color would be made and shipped from several factories. I specifically remember a shirt that was perceptibly thicker from one factory compared to the same shirt from a different manufacturer.
DeleteI've had good luck with the minnies and pretty much always order online. I did notice that some of the the new bi-stech wool minnies are advertised as longer - 29 inch inseam.
DeleteWow, simplyeliza, thanks for your insight. Did you work for JC or for another retailer?
DeleteI finally got to my review of the Sloane pump yesterday. I got the patent version and they're really beautiful. I'm comparing them with the Mona in the review and talk about the differences and the sizing. Let me know if you have questions :) I'll add that in.
ReplyDeleteI also have a ton of other reviews to put up, but not sure when I'll get to those. Bah, so busy!
Super helpful, thank you for this review! So have you not tried the Sloane in 6 yet? I'm curious if that size would fit better or if the foot petal is all you need.
DeleteI'm actually interested in the Everly in metallic blush more, though...will you be reviewing that soon too? :)
Some reviews of new and sale items here
ReplyDeletegosh, I love that random flower tee on you! I wonder what it is, I haven't seen it in any stores I've visited recently.
DeleteI also really, really like the half-placket dress in tossed hearts on you too. It just needs a belt, but could also work with a cardi or jacket that you don't plan on taking off.
I bought the Tartine satchel in pebbled leather during the 25% off sale. I got the grey, which really is much more of a taupe color. I'm actually quite pleased with the color, and very pleased with the bag! Leather is lovely, the strap coming over the top is magnetic, which I wasn't aware of - it's not mentioned in the description. The bag is just a bit boxy, but I'm hoping it will soften. Wearing it over the shoulder using just the handles - haven't used the strap yet. Workmanship is very nice - I have nothing negative to say!
ReplyDeleteHow do Janeys or Ceces fit? I may do something with this promo, as I don't have a lot of flats in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteFriendlyFemme - I wear 7.5 in shoes, but almost always take 8 in J Crew shoes -- except for the Janeys and Ceces. I love the Cece. There has been some dissatisfaction for some w/the heel feeling tight or rubbing. I felt that on one pair but used shoe stretching spray and got it to form better to my heel. I take 7.5 in the Ceces.
DeleteThe Janeys also fit in 7.5 for me. I've tried multiple pairs in printed and solid in both 7.5 & 8 and in each case, 7.5 fit the best. I have a medium width foot. You can see the collection calf hair Janey in hazelnut leopard in this post. That color is no longer available, but chocolate leopard is.
FriendlyFemme, I have a size 8M foot and have had to size up half a size in the Janeys as well. The only shoe items that fit TTS for me at JC are the sandals. HTH
DeleteOops! And the Ceces as well.
DeleteThank you both!
DeleteI usually wear a 9 and I take a 9 in suede Cece's. the leather ones I would probably size up because they fit tighter. I definitely prefer the suede tho.
DeleteThe paneled stretch dress in colorblock made me look...weird. It made my shoulders look extremely broad and my lower half look kind of rectangular. Something about the paneling on the sides also made my boobs look strange, like they were sitting very far apart from each other? I commented on this to a (new) SA and she said it was likely a problem with my bra and that I should invest in better bras. ::eyeroll:: Funny how my bras work just fine with every other dress I wear...
ReplyDeleteAlso, I noticed it was already starting to get pilly just from being out on the sales floor. I love their ponte dresses, especially the long sleeved ones, but will definitely be passing on this one.
Anthropologie's Corby Shift is a similar style in black and cream and it fits nicely, if you are looking for an alternative.
DeleteThanks cate! I actually ended up buying the Anthro Strata Dress because it was $50 off due to a teeny hole in a side seam. So that has satisfied my ponte dress craving for the time being...
DeleteLeaving for vacation this weekend and I have some bounce back codes I will not be using. 1 is in store only, which I can mail. The other is whole card with online and in store code, these are good until 9/15. Email me if you can use them.

DeleteOT, but Gilt City Atlanta is offering a free coupon today for the factory - take an additional 25% in store or online.
ReplyDeleteReview of Eaton Boy Trousers HERE. Overall quite nice, if not exactly on me. Midrise, not very tapered, wool is soft despite being unlined, walnut color is very pretty. Still sag in the butt area on me.
ReplyDeleteGilt City DC is also offering take an additional 25% off online or in stores at J Crew Factory now until 12 September. My local store said new arrivals would be coming in this Thursday!
ReplyDeleteifky12 & Stacy - Thanks for sharing the Gilt City coupon! I hope this link works for others that want to get one.
DeleteThanks for sharing! I order 5 which is the limit...
DeleteI want to return the favor for coupon, kindly let me know if you need 20% coupon code.
ReplyDeleteI would take it, if it's not been claimed. transponstersss@gmail.com
DeleteHas anyone tried the boy shirt in garment dye? I love the olive colour but have no clue what size shirt to buy anymore from JC. My gingham boy shirt from a few years back is a size 0 and still fits, but I had to get a size 4 in the liberty perfect shirts...
ReplyDeleteI stopped in to the B&M at Lenox Square in ATL to make a quick return this past weekend. Didn't have much time for try-ons, but I did a fit comparison between the J.Crew Pixie Pants and Madewell's new Skinny Skinny Ponte Pant, and the Madwell version was my winner, hands-down. Leggings aren't really my style, and the Pixie Pant is pretty much just a thick pair of leggings with a zipper in the back. I didn't like the lower rise on me, or the fabric in general. Pretty sure the SA thought I was NUTS when I walked out and said that I wasn't a fan; she was wearing them herself and I know that they're very popular. The Madewell S/S Ponte reminded me of a pair of riding breeches - front zip, belt loops, ankle zip - and they have back pockets, so more like actual pants. Fabric was softer with a higher rise. Tried both in size 4 and I would consider going up to a 6 in the S/S Ponte, but I can't say for sure since they might stretch with wear.
ReplyDeleteOT: Lenox Square J.Crew just got rid of their Bridal collection ("Thank goodness" said one SA; I sold bridal/pageant gowns for 3 years in college and I totally understand!) and will soon be closed briefly for renovations in order to expand their menswear into the space next door. They will be opening a women's only Collection boutique in Atlanta's Westside, close to Ann/Sid Mashburn, I think.
Thanks for the review of the Madewell Skinny Skinny Ponte Pant. I don't look good in the pixie pants. Every year I try them on and to my dismay, I look awful. It's cringe-worthy. So glad to know there are others out there that don't "love" this style.
DeleteStacy66, the Pixie pants are atrocious on me. I thought they were high-waisted, though. Anyway I felt like a stuffed sausage in them. I love the regular leggings, though.
DeleteReview of the Factory classic button-down shirt in dotted chambray here. Factory is currently advertising up to 50% off men's and women's buttondowns from 9/3 - 9/5, but if you can wait on this shirt (current price: $44.50) for a bit I've seen it go down into the $30-33 range. It's good if you're looking for a mid-weight chambray shirt.
ReplyDeleteShoe & handbag picks & links to irl pics on 1060 Pairs.
ReplyDeleteI just got the Tartine Mini-Satchel in Pebbled Leather in Vintage Pewter and I love it. It's a great size for petites.
ReplyDeleteThe Colorblock Long Field Jacket arrived and I really like it. The fabric feels substantial without feeling too plastic, as in the coated cotton feels just right, not too much. I think the Colorblock navy/olive brown looks really nice and I preferred it to the solid since I have many coats similar to the solid. It even has a side entry to the front pockets so you can comfortably put your hands in and an adjustable waist for a more flattering fit. I would say TTS.
ReplyDeleteThe Vintage PJs in pink polka dots were also really cute, I noticed they didn't put the pink polka dots on promo like the navy.
For those interested in the current promo:
ReplyDelete*calf hair Martinas: Love these! I think they are worth the splurge at promo price. I took the same size as my patent leather Martinas which is to say that I size up from my non J crew size
*Tilda in pebble leather: I got it in black and love it. I concur with bisbee's review above. It looks very luxe and expensive.
*henna leather purses: I have three purses in the henna leather, the Brompton hobo, the envelope clutch, and the wixon (last year). I love the henna leather and highly recommend it. The patina just gets better over time. One JCA likened it to a baseball glove and I totally agree. I also love the versatility of the color.
CORRECTION: I meant to say Tartine not Tilda in the review above! I was referring to the Tartine Satchel
DeleteI love the horse sweatshirt even though I haven't worn yet. I have a few pics of some "fall" items on my blog: seaquinedseagull.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI am also loving the rhinestone denim shirt too. I purchased the fluted skirt in double crepe in black. I love this! I sized down since IMO, it sits a bit higher and not so low. However, if you are not a fan of the shorter skirts, this is not for you. I just received my DARBY studded and I love them. I like the rock and roll vibe. I also ended up getting the "kiss" tee; it will work perfect for my rehearsal dinner look I'm putting together. It's a bit sheer but not bad.
anyone have the nora printed cap toe flats? Love the look of them but feel like they're not so practical since i can't think of that many outfits to pair them with...are they worth it?
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not sure if this was already posted, but Gilt City is offering a free voucher for 25% off both online and in stores over at factory until the 15th. It looks like they just email you a code via your membership email. Hmmm looks interesting...
ReplyDeleteHere is the link:

While it's still too warm to wear this; the rustic merino elbow patch crew neck sweater #03854 is great. Nothing like a textured 100% merino to add some variety to the usual fine knit merino sweaters. The heather mineral is deep rich blue colour. Definitely worth a look and a purchase. And suede elbow patches give it some character.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this review. I'm going to buy some of these in the small sizes for myself, even though I'm a woman, because the price points are good, I love the elbow patches, and I HATE dream yarn. Just hope I get the sizing right.
DeleteCallie the mens' merino sweaters are really well made and in my opinion of the best things J.Crew sells. These sweaters also come in slim which are an inch or two slimmer through the body.
DeleteI bought the heather mineral and I think it's the best colour in this knit
I agree that some of the men's sweaters are fantastic, much better than many of the women's options (I'm looking at you, Dream sweaters), but sometimes the proportions are a little off. I ordered two men's sweaters - the v-neck cashmere cardigan in heather olive and the cotton-cashmere v-neck cardigan in heather maroon - and I loved the colors and styles, but they fell to a place on my hips that was unflattering, and they had too much fabric under the arms. However, they might work well for someone with a different body type than mine.
DeleteOT: American Express is offering $10 off $75 in purchases at J.Crew, in-store & online (OFFER DETAILS
ReplyDeleteGet a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $75 or more at J. Crew by 9/30/13.)
Is that for the Costco Amex too?
Deletethanks for the heads up! but do you have more information on how this works? perhaps a link somewhere? TIA
DeleteIt appeared under the "Offers" section on the (Hilton Honors) American Express card site. I can't post a link because it's not a stand-alone site.
DeleteI also have a Fidelity Investment Rewards American Express card that doesn't offer this promotion. It's American Express specific I believe - if you manage your card through the American Express site, look for the "Offers" section.
Does anyone know if the fit of the Factory excursion vests is any different than retail? I was only able to find an xs in both the dark green and herringbone vests when I had an SA do a store search. I'm an XXS in the excursion vest and really worried that they won't look good at all so I'm hoping that maybe they run a bit smaller? Although I know thats a lofty wish. Anyhow, I should be receiving them this week so if somebody has some styling/layering tips for a *slightly* too large vest, it would be appreciated! I'm really hoping XXS will be restocked in the new factory rollout and that they will actually carry that size in stores.
ReplyDeleteLisa I tried on the retail herringbone excursion vest last year and purchased the factory version this year. They fit the same. I went down one size in both. Many JCAs have recommended sizing down. I don't think the Factory version runs smaller than the retail and would recommend sticking with the XXS if that's the size of the retail excursion vest that fits you.
DeleteBah. I knew it, was afraid to admit it to myself. *really* crossing my fingers that XXS gets replenished with the new fall factory rollout. I don't know why they make these so large, I'm not really all that tiny but I needed the XXS last year.
DeleteI think the Factory and retail fit the same. The retail version may seem bigger because the collar may be slightly bigger and the pocket shape and flaps may make it look larger than Factory's (last year's) angled slash pockets.
DeleteReceived the collection cafe capri in antique floral - fabric is beautiful! It is 67% silk and 33% cotton - nice weight. Normally I would want capris like this to be lined but I think they work unlined because of the fabric. I really like the range of colors in the print - will work with pinks, blues, browns, gold, and black. Fit is TTS or a bit large - hard to tell since I've lost a few pounds. These are quite pricey but worth keeping an eye on if we get another FP promo.
ReplyDeleteAlso got the striped necklace tee in provence pink - love! Based on other JCA suggestions I got a S (I wear an XS in most Crew items including the Tippi, S was the right choice for this one). Color is nice and I love the "necklace" detail. Worth FP IMO.
I received my FALLSTYLE order today:
ReplyDelete*Martina in metallic blush: I love Martinas (I won't say how many pairs I own, let's just say a lot) and I love me a gold shoe, so I was excited to get these on the promo. However, after trying them on for what may have been 30 seconds, I noticed creasing in the shoe's leather, so I won't be keeping these. I may buy them on sale with promo at a deep discount.
*Tipped Swiss dot top: not online yet but I ordered over the phone thanks to review from Audrey of Life is Short, Buy the Shoes in this post: http://audreybella.blogspot.com/2013/08/j-crew-fall-2013-4.html. l wanted to love this top. It's cute in a demure, sexy secretary type of way. However, oddly enough, the sleeves were short on me! I am only 5'4" and have fairly short arms. In fact, tops and jackets are usually too long on my arms. Sad, but this will go back as well.
JCAS- A bit off topic, but for those of you who missed out on the Factory jewel collar warmspun sweater in the cabernet color, there is a black carbon colorway version available although it's not yet online (not sure if it's in stores yet). I was able to do a pre sale over the phone last week thanks to a post from a JCA and received a shipping confirmation today which means that they must have it in stock if you want to try to order it before it's on their website. Style number is 02146. I got the cabernet version and like it a lot. I went down a size and think it's still a bit roomy (but I do like my sweaters to be form fitting and am also short waisted), but I couldn't size down another size because the arms would be too small. It is a bit itchy though if that bothers you.
ReplyDeleteI too pre-ordered the sweater in carbon/black heather. Does anyone know if the factory stores carried the herringbone jewel collar sweater in the Cabernet ? Looking to locate a size xxs.
DeleteReceived the herringbone Peter pan collar weather (without the jewels) in heather acorn, and it runs boxy and about 2 sizes too big. Debating if I should have it altered. Fabric is a bit itchy but I wear a tee underneath.
I didn't see the jewel collar in my store a few weeks ago. If you call a store with style number the SA can search the system and you can do a charge send if there Is a store that carries one. Someone may have returned the sweater to a store even if they didn't get a full shipment. I recently located a sold out online only dress that way. I also had the same sizing issue with the heather acorn Peter Pan collar sweater and returned it. As a heads up I think the jewel coller sweater also runs quite large.
DeleteCalled Woodbury commons and they had my size. Used the gilt 25% off
DeleteThanks 312JCGirl
Some thoughts on a number of recent purchases:
ReplyDeleteMajesty pea coat in heather charcoal: I have been waiting for this year's release of this coat. The fit was true to size and fabric was good, fairly similar to stadium cloth in previous years, but gold buttons on heather charcoal constitute a dealbreaker for me, so I sent it back (buttons are good enough quality, just not to my taste). I am waiting to receive the Land's End version of this coat, which is substantially cheaper than the J.Crew.
Merino pocket tunic in heather grey: I understand why some people are sizing down, but I would stick with my regular size (small). I liked the style to pair with leggings, skinny jeans, etc. and I loved the length, also the weight of the knit (much more substantial than many things out there right now), though it does have a slight degree of the frump factor to it. Ultimately, the heather grey color was totally blah on me (maybe that's where the frump factor came from), so I also sent it back. I would keep this in black with regular (not leather) pockets or a deep olive green.
Schoolboy blazer in heather graphite: bought this in a tall size for a little added length, which was great, but gold buttons again on grey not to my taste; it also seemed to run a bit small to me, and one of the buttons fell off after I tried it on once, so I also sent it back - I am much happier with my tweed academy blazer (also in tall size) from the Gap, which cost about half as much.
I tried the Drapey Raglan Sweater in Heather Navy and I REALLY liked it. I was mostly interested in the Heather Natural, but there were only sizes M and up available in-store. I normally wear XXS in Tippis and tried this in XXS and layered it on top of an XXS Tippi. It fit great although I wouldn't even mind sizing up one more in the sweatshirt just so in case I want to add a button down and a Tippi underneath (I live in SF, layering is a necessity). The moment a relevant sale hits, I'm nabbing this in the Natural color.
ReplyDeleteThe Eaton trousers are weird. I have huge thighs and they're flattering on me...but the waist is much too big. It...doesn't make sense. I'm a 25 in Matchstick, a 26 in Toothpick (I look awful in Toothpicks, though...a 27 would probably still be skintight on my calves), 00 in Cafe Capris, 0 or 00 in Minnies, for reference.
I also tried the crepe cap-sleeve dress in both red and blue (more like green?) but stores don't carry petite sizes and the 00 was too big and draped funnily because, well, I'm short. I wanted to order the dress in a petite size through the store during the hello30 sale, but they would have made it final sale and charged me shipping. I decided to order the 0P online instead (00P sold out, but the material is fitted so I'm crossing my fingers 0P works out!), even though it has a starting price of $158 as opposed to the $119.99 I saw in-store. But at least it's not final sale. I do like the weight of the dress, though, and how it's simple and conservative...something I could wear to work and during the weekends.
I also ordered the half placket dress in hammock green with the cap sleeve dress as another alternate. It was FP in-store during the hello30 sale, but is/was $119.99 online. It will definitely need a belt, but between these two dresses, if I keep any, I'll keep the better fitting one...
Really wish JCrew would have petite clothing in their B&M's...or at least be more reasonable about this final sale business.
The new minnies, at least the bi-stretch wool ones, are tighter in the lower leg and ankle and larger in the thigh. Not a flattering combination for me! I ordered a petite, which had a 30" inseam. I sized up from my regular non-petite size based on product measurements sent to me, but the waist was too big. Going back, sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe drapey crepe henley tunic fit nicely in the shoulders and chest in my smaller size, but was way too long in the body and sleeves for 5'4" me.

Additional comment - wearing Sloanes today, they are very comfortable and light! Love them.
Would you recommend buying your usual size in the sloanes or sizing up?
Delete@Melissa - I am usually a 6 1/2 (medium width) but ordered these in 7 (my feet sometimes swell up a little) and they fit well. I feel that if I got 6 1/2, they would be less comfortable. I figured that if they got somewhat loose on my foot, I can always pad them :) Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI tried the Field boots in Kindling and had such high hopes for them. My calves are on the larger size of average. I found the fit in the calf totally fine but they were too loose in the ankle and wide around the top - there was a large gape between the side of my knee (?) and the boot. When I returned them to the store, the manager told me that people complained that last year's boots were too tight around the ankle and they sold a lot more extended calf versions so they made a design change this year. IMO they swung too far in the other direction, they were not cute! The leather seemed like it would scrach easily and the color was not quite as warm as I would have liked it. The shaft was nice and tall though!
ReplyDeleteReceived the factory lightweight wool suiting jacket and tailored shift dress in black for my sister in law as a graduation gift.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is a dupe of the emmaleigh. Looks exactly the same. Wool feels less substantial than the retail version but looks exactly the same.
The suiting jacket is definitely not as luxe as the retail 1035 but I like the cut better. It is shorter. Very classic cut and an be worn with jeans. versatile.
Quality reminds me of banana republic wool. Missing details like contrasting lining, etc. but a very nice basic suit for a new college grad in her early 0s.
Interlock cotton henley (04693) - this was a bit too literal take on a man's undershirt. I felt like Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood walking around in his long underwear. It was long and the cotton was thick. Other than that, meh.
ReplyDeleteomg! you are so funny describing this!!! this was on my wishlist but it will be deleted asap!! thanks for the very entertaining review! :)
Deletesilver_lining - I see your point about the interlock cotton henley, but I got it for $9.32 during the pricing error and for that price I think it will make a great sleep shirt! I didn't have the fit problems that others described and I liked the gray color.
DeleteI got it cheap also. I sized up and I think it's really cute with jeans! My husband even liked it!
DeleteLeather front cardigan - love. Runs a bit big. The photo on line is not attractive IMO. Once I tried it on in store I did not want to take it off it looked so good.
ReplyDeleteThe silk blouse in vintage cabernet is very nice. I sized down to a went to a T size and it very flattering.
The Factory pixie pants look much better on me than the retail version, perhaps they are better for those with a bit of a booty,
Also bought the mixed crystal and resin since I love the colors.
Also loved the cashmere V-neck in roasted acorn and the cashmere boyfriend V-neck in navy, so they came home and I adored the Kiki in leopard since I love the red Kiki's that I already own. They are the first J Crew ballets are comfortable on my feet.
I finally got my ivory Merino Tippi in French Knot and I love it. Way more than I thought I would and way more than I should. The knit and weight is substantial and the size is TTS.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about the ivory though is that the little 3D knots are all darker colors (navy and grey) and I can sort of see little "halos" or "shadows" around most of the knots made from stray tufts. It's almost like there's some bleeding of color onto the white sweater. Of course, I only noticed this when inspecting up close and I can't tell when I'm looking at myself in the mirror or at my selfies. The knots are also tied on the inside and can be felt from the inside, although it hasn't bothered me for the past 10 minutes. So I don't know. I probably should return it but I have no white sweaters now (and white sweaters are a staple in my wardrobe...I had two before and wore each of them almost once a week). And did I mention I really like it? Why do I like it so much?!
There were new cuts online on Wed. Check them out at the top of the Irl Pic Guide - Sale.
ReplyDeletePurchased the toothpicks in dolphin grey during the denim promo. They are great, fit a wee bit looser in my usual size, material very soft and the color will mix with so many other darker and lighter colors. Great transition color and style as we go into fall. Highly recommend if toothpicks work for you.
ReplyDeleteHello JCAs! There are some new Promo-priced items & markdowns this week. I've noted them in this post. :)
ReplyDeleteI just posted a review of the Collection Cashmere Abstract Argyle Sweater today here. It's very pretty, TTS, and colors are true to the product shot (model shot looks lighter).
ReplyDeleteAlso, I received the flower garland necklace and it's gorgeous.
My favorite purchases from J. Crew lately have been the boy shirt in embroidered polka dot (I even ordered a second one, in a different size to fit me once I'm done nursing baby #2). The fabric is really soft, and it washes well, with minimal wrinkling. It feels like a dark chambray shirt, but the dots dress it up a bit, which isn't something I usually say about polka dots.
ReplyDeleteAlong with most others, I also like the drapey crepe henley tunic. I got it in black. At first, I wasn't feeling the synthetic fabric, but I gave it a second try and decided I like how it drapes anyway. It's sophisticated. I don't love the neckline on me, but if I unbutton a lot of the buttons and wear a camisole underneath, I like it better.
I also got and like the grey Nikes, but those aren't really a J. Crew thing.
The merino pocket tunic hasn't been working on me so far, but I have a merlot XXS on the way to try...the merlot XS was HUGE despite the fact that I'm still carrying some pregnancy weight, but the leather pocket version in XXS was too fitted (and I didn't like the pocket placement - plus who wants to deal with cleaning that).

I'm thinking of splurging on the Collection Nora Calf Hair Ballet Flats but I've never seen them in the stores. Can anyone comment on them? Are they nice in person? Comfy? How do they compare with the Cece's? Thanks!!!!
