This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL
arrivals {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I posted this in another thread and realized I put it in the wrong place, so I'll put it here too. :)
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is in the Lynchburg area, definitely stop by the expanded Clearance center. I stopped by there today and there are so many things there that are on the website now! Work dresses for $30, silk blouses for $30, Cashmere sweaters for $65. Minnies for $40 and Cafe Capris for $20! Tons of bags, shoes, and formal dresses (in all sizes and all colors) as well (if you're looking for bridesmaid dresses or wedding dresses, run there now!). All swim is 75% off as well.
I bought two no. 2 Pencil skirts for $30 each in white and in academic green, and I also got a navy cashmere cardi for $65 and w/ my student discount on top of it, I got all three items for $110! I'm thinking about stopping by again for the short sleeve cashmere tops which were only $40 b/f any discount. If anyone is in the are, def stop by they are fully stocked!
sn: I didn't even touch the madewell side, but it had just as much stuff!
I may visit this weekend. There isn't anything I have to have now w/temps still in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteReview of the quilted tack jacket, which I like.
so i'm seeing the classic schoolboy blazer in navy show up online at a sale price. if anyone sees it in a california bay area store (either east bay, south bay, or sf area), please let me know! i'd like to see if i could get it at the price online with the additional 25% and student discount, if possible. thanks to anyone able to help!
ReplyDeletePhone a store and ask them to check other store inventories to speed up your search.
Deletethank you, Rose! will do!
DeleteHi Dmitri, I'm planning on returning a size 2 and P4 soon, if either is a size you are looking for, let me know! I bought them at slightly less than $108 each.
Deletesorry for the late response - that's so sweet of you lindsay! but unfortunately i'm neither of those sizes. but now it makes me think i should wait until a better sale comes along before making this purchase if you were able to get the blazer at $108 and some people, under $70!
DeleteI picked up the Schoolboy Blazer in wool flannel. It's on promo with free shipping! That, combined with the extra 25% off and my rewards made me feel good about the purchase. I wonder what the free shipping is all about for that blazer?!
ReplyDeleteI might check out another store to see if they have other items in stock, but we'll see. I have some things shipping my way already.
ReplyDeleteI posted some more reviews this morning, of the Drapey Crepe Henley Tunic (surprise love), the Schoolboy Blazer in burnished rust (pretty color), and Schoolboy Blazer in English Plaid (love). All felt TTS to me. Reviews HERE.
i always love your reviews :) the english tweed is really way too cute; i almost wish i hadn't checked out your reviews/pics because i want one so badly for myself now!
DeleteThe more I see that Henley Tunic, the more I like it! Totally skimmed over it on Wednesday what with all the flashier new arrival excitement, but now that I've had time to mull things over, I think I'd get lots of wear out of that tunic in black.
DeleteI'm with you, Whitney. I totally missed the Henley tunic at first but now want to try it. Thanks for the great review shopwithm!
DeleteThanks Dmitri! I know what you mean, sometimes when I see a review, it's enough to add it to the wishlist. :)
DeleteWhitney & Jan , I think you'll both really like the Henley Tunic. It's not exciting, but a good basic.
Has anyone tried on the Merino Leather-pocket sweater? It looks great online--I'm hoping it is slightly oversized. The grey heather would look great with black pixie's and boots! Any feedback on the fit would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine! I posted my review of the solid and leather pocket sweater here. I loved it! I personally sized down from my normal size small (what I wear in the Tippi), but some of the JCAs have liked their regular size better. Super cute with pixies and boots, I agree!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIMO it's pretty over-sized. I wear a S in tippi, which isn't completely fitted but loose enough to wear a thin layer underneath). I have the black leather pocket one and I took an XS. It's still loose enough on me to just skim my body and isn't fitted by any means, but its not like a boyfriend sweater. I think it depends on your frame and how you like t wear it. I have broad shoulders and am curvy so super baggy oversized tops don't look good on me, but if you have a small or petite frame, you could probably pull it off being looser and take your regular size.
DeleteHi Catherine! Yes! I bought it yesterday! Very chic! And I ordered the grey version online last night. I went with my Tippi sweater size. It's suppose to lay away from the body....not cling. It's a tunic. It's made out of nice thick wool and hangs beautifully. My SA told me they are selling them like hotcakes....so don't wait too long to try it. I'm wearing mine casual with skinny jeans and boots and dressed up with skinny black capris and flats.
DeleteI liked it, but got the plain version instead. I wasn't sure about the leather pockets on me. I don't want to buy anything I won't wear and I don't think I'd wear the leather one enough.
DeleteCatherine, I did not try it but saw another customer trying the black with leather pockets. She was tall and lean, had skinny light colored jeans on and the fit and overall looks was really good - She was trying on a S size which was just perfect for her. It is longer, more like a tunic and wasn't clingy at all. The SA offered to bring an XS but didn't see her trying on the smaller size. SA went on to bring a jewelered collared white shirt for her to try underneath, which I though would look beautiful..
DeleteHope this helps..
I'm shorter 5'4" and usually wear a size 14. I tried the sweater on in a large and thought it fit well, the pockets bulged from the side in a really NOT flattering way. I think if you were tall and think or don't carry you're weight around your hips/butt, you probably would look great in the sweater.
DeleteDid any of you go to the Style Session last night? Was it fun?
ReplyDeleteI put this in another thread, but here's what I found when I visited yesterday morning:
Just got back from my fave J. Crew store in Marlton, NJ. So, the Andie chinos and the Toothpicks jeans were major fails on me. The SAs were telling me that some people LOVE the wide waist band on the Andies while others do not. So, I guess the waistband is a point of controversy. I loved the back of the Andies and the length is cute. The whole pocket situation in the front was not my fave. The SA said she thought they looked cute, but I didn't feel comfy.
The Toothpicks NEVER work on me. I thought I'd give a couple of pairs a try, because most of the denim/cords are toothpicks.
Onto good news: I picked up the boy shirt in polka-dot (an oldie, but goodie and my size is always sold out online), the tweed-front sweater in black (SO CUTE! The color in the tweed is very vibrant IRL. It's a little boxy, but with a fitted tank underneath and tight cropped jeans or a skirt, it will look really fab.) I also picked up the polka dot denim mini for like $35 bucks. So cute, and will work in early fall, plus now).
The merino tippie with embroidered shoulders was totally marked down! Plus, with the 25 percent off promo, you can get that for a good price.
Jackies were $49.50. I wish they had red, because I so want that color.
Went last night but totally unintentionally. Just wanted to see the new merch. At the Toronto location (Eaton Centre) they had a small table with cupcakes and cookies, but no one was offering them to anyone so no one was taking them. Aside from that, I saw absolutely nothing different from a regular old night in the store.
DeleteI'm hittin' the road to visit the factory store this morning. Might also hit the B&M in town to check it out. I've got a return (already!) so I need to go. Horsey sweatshirt and two tone zip cardigan didn't pass the sniff test. I just don't have the right body type for them. They both made me look chunky and boxy.
ReplyDeletePlanning on stopping by tonight to do some returns and take a look at some of the new arrivals. The Biennial Medium satchel in Warm Burgundy was a disappointment. I have the bag in black and love it but online it looks more brown but it is much more red/plum IRL.
ReplyDeleteReview of the boyfriend fatigue jacket.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Tipped Gamine Dress in vintage burgundy navy is an online-exclusive color? I know the vintage navy ivory is in stores at $79.99, but I've been unable to find the burgundy in any stores in my area (Washington, D.C. metropolitan). And my phone call with the Chevy Chase, Md., store last night made it seem like I couldn't go into the store and use the red phone to order the burgundy at $79.99 from the website. Help would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy store doesn't have it either. I would call from the red phone in store and order like that. I don't see why you won't be able to. It's still sale transaction. While you're at it, I would ask if they would honor the sale price of $79.99.
DeleteYup, that's exactly what I called my store last night asking if I could stop by the store and do, but they said they wouldn't honor the $79.99 (because it's not available in burgundy in the store, I think?) and that they would also charge me shipping. Which was kind of a bummer. Maybe I'll try at another store this weekend. Thanks!
DeleteJ. Crew makes things so confusing and complicated. It's the same dress but in a different color. Makes ZERO sense! Well, good luck and hopefully you get what you want at the price you want.
DeleteRoxana - It sounds like the burgundy tipped gamine is online only. I'm not surprised that they will not honor the sale price of the navy. J Crew will sometimes mark down certain colors in items, but not all. If the burgundy *was* available in-store they still might've not marked it down along w/the navy. In any case, the store shouldn't charge you shipping when order thru the computer there. If they call on the phone, they simply ask the cs rep to waive shipping.
DeleteI went to the Mall of Georgia J.Crew yesterday and them order the horsin' around sweatshirt in heather grey and the kiki flats in dark cedar (on promotional sale). I have one pair of cece flats that are ok, I have wide feet so they are not super flattering and they do not come up all the way on the far side of my foot so I'm hoping the kiki will not only look better but be more comfortable since they have a slight heel...
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the kiki's out?
Lauren - I reviewed the metallic Kikis here. DaniBP reviewed a couple pair of the regular Kikis here.
DeleteThe Kikis have a different structure than the Ceces. I love the Ceces, but kwym.
OT, but I just chatted with a rep via J.Crew Factory and the herringbone vest will return in October. They are currently accepting pre-orders in case you missed out :)
ReplyDeleteWent to my local factory store this morning and they had the Herringbone vest in stock & on display.
Deletei am looking for the herrignbone vest in xxs. (i have xs- too big). I just chatted with rep on factory.com and they told me that they don't know what I am talking about pre-ordering the vest.
DeleteSara: which store did you go? I think i have pretty much called every factory store looking for xs and they all say it's sold out!
meant to say looking for xxs and they are sold out for company. if anyone see xxs - please let me know!!! thanks
DeleteJust received 2 factory items: the houndstooth schoolboy and the cabernet bi-streach wool winnies. Love the blazer! It is the shorter style from last year, which suits me better than the update schoolboy. Not sure about the winnies - fabric is a bit itchy, not sure if I can get used to it or not. Any comments about the wool winnies or minnes?
ReplyDeleteGot a code for 20% off a $125 factory purchase through August 28: FDSUBHSC4 (please post if you use the code)
Sadness. My Eaton pants arrived and are going back. They fit me somewhat like the Cafe Capris. The 2 is too baggy, and the 0 gives me embarrassing camel toe. I just don't have the body for these thin wool pants.
ReplyDeleteI hate buying casual pants like the Andies, but with my curves, I need thicker fabric.
Luxette--The Minnies are great on me, but I found the Winnies too thin. Then again, it could also be that I can't do thin fabric due to the curviness of my body. But I LOVE the Minnies. They are on promo now, and I just ordered them in navy.
I am between 0 and 2 in the cafe capris too. What size do you get in Minnies? I'd like to try them and was going to order a 2.
DeleteThe tried the Minnies today. The SA said to size down since they will stretch out. I'm the same size as you in the capris. I tried on the 00 and it did look nice. Since it's fitted, you don't want the pants to sag at the end if the day.
DeleteI'm not particularly curvy, just average, and I agree with you that the Winnies are too thin. They also seem to run shorter than the Minnies, imo.
DeleteFor me, the problem with the Minnies/Winnies is that they stretch out in the butt, but not the waistline. So if I size down, then I have a very uncomfortable waist band, but the butt still looks good. I just don't care for these pants as much.
I took a 2 in the Minnies. The SA told me to size down and I might regret getting the 2. But that's what I did!
DeleteIn the Andies, I took a 0. I hope I don't regret that either. It's hard to know until you spend a full day in a pair of pants. Ditto for shoes. You don't really know what a shoe is like until you wear them for hours.
I frequently have the same problem w/a lot of JC pants. They're either baggy in the size up, and too tight/wrong rise/camel toe issue in the size down.
DeleteSpeaking of pants...I just picked up a pair of Pixie pants (regular, not jodhpur) on full price, minus my student discount.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you wear with yours...esp so they don't look like leggings? or do you just not like them at all?
I would wear a tunic with the pixies. I tried the merino pocket sweater with the Minnies and it worked.
DeleteI prefer the Minnies over the Pixies for how they feel at the waist, but I think they both look basically like thick leggings. That said, I never reach for my Minnies because I never know what to put with them. I don't have many tops that are long enough to give me the coverage I want. I think the merino pocket sweater is going to work, though, that is the length I like over leggings.
DeleteCATE-Does wearing Minnies and a tunic make a person look even shorter? I'm only 5'2 (on a good day) so I'm still not sure about the look which is why I don't own a pair of Minnies or Pixies.
DeleteI think if it's all the same color more or less, it doesn't make you look shorter, but I'm not exactly a great source of fashion knowledge :) I'd wear gray with black, burgundy with black, gray with navy, that kind of thing. Maybe if we wore contrasting colors, that might make us look shorter?
DeleteI think the Pixies are pretty much leggings, although in a thicker fabric. I wear mine most frequently in the winter w/tall boots and a long sweater, usually w/a scarf. It's very cozy.
DeleteJruby18-Your description sounds so cozy and so Fall. Thanks for the wonderful image. I can't wait for the weather to change. Do you think short people can pull off this look? I've seen tall women rock this all the time.
Delete@Wendy, thx! Btw, I'm short and I *think* it looks cute, lol!! I think the trick is to not wear too huge of a sweater and a very light layer underneath (I usually do tissue tees).
DeleteCate and Jruby18
DeleteThanks for your thoughts on dressing shorter ladies. I am inspired by you guys to wear Minnies and a sweater tunic this Fall. Never done that before!
I agree with Jruby18, you don't want the top to be gigantic or overwhelming. Drop shoulders are always bad on me. Certain tops wear me instead of me wearing them, IYKWIM.
DeleteYes, I've seen some women wear these gigantic sweaters with leggings and I always think, 'wow, that sweater is bigger than the person wearing it.'. I guess it's about proportions.
DeleteWendy, that was me in the 80s lol! I don't need to bring back that style :)
DeleteCate,
DeleteYes, I remember the 80s quite well. ;-) It was great at the time, but looking back at the pix, one can't help but have a good laugh/gaffaw! I often wonder if there is another style that has yet to be discovered or has fashion piqued?
I just called my local J Crew Factory (Woodburn, OR) and the SA there told me that the Hen Tee went to Clearance! It was $24.99 and then the store was running 40% off; a lucky duck (haha) got the last Size M Hen Factory Tee for ~$15.00 :) - wasn't me, but I'm happy for her!
ReplyDeleteYou all may want to check Factory for inventory and sale items!
The Horse Sweatshirts are mostly sold out in my store. There's one small left. The SA who was eying a medium now has to go to another store to get hers.
ReplyDeleteAfter my bad wedding dress experience, I decided to cash in on the 25% Fallstyle promotion. To my surprise, I found 2 great jackets. The Long Colorblock Field Jacket is a great find, and although long, really shows off your waist. It runs large, so make sure you try it on. Also, the Quilted Tack Jacket in Burgundy is great. These 2 purchases @25% off made up for my bad wedding shopping experience with JCrew..however, the Stanford store does not go out of your way to help you. Again..maybe their sales crew should walk over to Nordstroms. Not much love there, but I love the jackets.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the J crew at the Stanford shopping center are so snotty and unhelpful. They look good in their outfits but they don't do much. They can't even muster a 'hi' when I walk it. I don't like going there, but they do have more of a selection than the store in Burlingame.
DeleteGina thank you for the heads up on the Colorblock Field Jacket. I liked it right away but then talked myself out of it. Now I've ordered it after all.
DeleteI've been pretty careful so far, I got the horse sweatshirt, the grey velvet jacket, the grey embroidered Tippi and now the jacket.
If the Tippi's already marked down, that's not a good sign and it may go back. I think I jumped on it because I remember when their patterned cardigans and novelty items were really special.
Oh, please let us know about the velvet jacket! I was thinking that the velvet Schoolboys look really beautiful this year. I was disappointed by last year's offering.
DeleteI'm also tempted by the caramel tipped Schoolboy.
Don't get me started on that J. Crew (Stanford Shopping Center). Even when the store is empty I can't find anyone to help me. When I do find someone, they act as if they are doing me a favor to open a fitting room or get jewelry out of the case. I've had a much better experience at the J. Crew on Market in San Fran. I keep coming back to the Stanford store because their sale jewelry selection tends to be larger......
DeleteHas anyone seen the french knot tippi in the ivory color in stores? I was hoping it would have been in this past rollout online but no luck!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I waste time and fuel driving to the factory store. I really can not figure out what body type those clothes are for! Some of the pants have such short inseams they come just a bit below my knee! I'm only 5'9"! Or the pant legs are so skinny I have to size up then the waist is huge. So maybe very short apple body types? Jackets too short, dresses too short...is this store for petites? I have NO luck there...and the small tees I tried on today were huge...crazy sizing all around. I'm done with the factory store.
ReplyDeleteJust came home with the factory herringbone excursion vest. LOVE. I sized down to an x-small (I'm usually a J. Crew Small/4). X-small fits perfectly. Thinking about getting the vintage berry next! :)
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of pants--does anyone have any thoughts about the Minnies in twill, versus wool? Is the wool substantially thinner, for example?
ReplyDeleteThe wool is a bit thinner IMO. It holds its shape better and I think is a bit dressier than the twill. The twill look more casual. The wool don't have that weird seam halfway down the leg and I like that. I have both and like both. Same size for both.
DeleteI agree with Jruby 18.
DeleteWill post reviews of new arrival(also the minnie in wool) later on my blog.
HTH
Is the wool itchy at all? I'm assuming it is not lined?
DeleteI have both the wool and twill. I like the twill because they are machine washable. The wool are not lined and say dry clean only. Anyone try hand washing the wool ones? I do not find the wool itchy and I have sensitive skin.
DeleteI popped into the Robson St store here in Vancouver.
ReplyDelete+ overheard SA say Park Royal Store is getting a Crewcuts section with the new store there
+Plenty of horse sweatshirts available but nothing larger than Med. larger sizes gone.
+ no monk strap shoes yet
+ SA said j crew did not make the Fall catalogue for Canada ... we need our own because our prices are a good 20% higher...and we all no it so give us the US version already !
+the eaton trousers are okay...very much like the paley of last year. So really a over priced pair of "thin" wool pants. I fit my same size as the paleys.
+tried the pocket merino sweater (all colors available...looks like cabernet sold out on line) I took my tippi size which is a size smaller than other J crew sweaters.
+ tried the zip merino color block cardi...liked it took my tippi size again.
+ tried the excursion vests...they are definitely light weight...so probably go with my larger size as to layer...very thin.
+ my big like/love was the crepe henely tunic in black...really liked the sleeves. ++ I am not a capri gal or school boy gal.
+ no big jewellery loves this time either.
I have no need or desire for anything right now...I went today because sizes are all over the place lately...and I will be properly prepared when the big mark downs hit...the prices are way too high in comparison . Carolyn from Vancouver

ReplyDeleteHello JCAs! There were a lot of new promo-priced items & markdowns added online this past Thursday, all of which are eligible for the extra 25% off. I've noted them in this post, for those interested. Be sure to click the link at the bottom to see all the items that have been on promo or marked down for awhile now, too. :)
ReplyDeleteCocoon coat is back online!
ReplyDeleteYeah I saw that. It should be on sale, in my opinion! It's last year's coat and it should not be at this year's price.
DeleteThere is one on Factory too (or is that the one you're talking about?).
DeleteA couple of sweaters reviewed here.
ReplyDeleteReview of the heather graphite schoolboy, the color that's currently $126 after FALLSTYLE is applied.
ReplyDeleteGigi - I tried the tipped wool schoolboy yesterday and it also suffered from the shoulder pouf thing. It seemed like a manufacturing defect, rather than an intentional design detail. It felt like there were too many layers of fabric in there and they weren't seen flat like in other schoolboys I've tried recently.
DeleteI went to the Factory store to see if they had the wool skimmer pants this year and they do. Their selection was very picked over but they had my size in the black and the tan colors. These fit me so much better than the retail wool cafe capris, and they are lined. The selection of excursion vests was still decent. I only saw one or two herringbone ones (the size Small I tried on smelled bad so that obviously stayed at the store) and they had the solid colors (no size Mediums in the ones I tried on). They had some Janey flats in a plum color and in black.
ReplyDeleteReview of the horse sweatshirt andie chino, tweed front sweater, leather pocket tunic,Eaton plaid pants, striped neclace tee,Etta pump, valentina pump and some crazy pant here.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Wool Racing Stripe Track Pants. I thought they were sweat pants (didn't know the name for them then) and then I noticed they are 100% wool! Dry clean only. And $148. That is too high maintenance for me for essentially sweat pants.
ReplyDeleteI went to two of my local J Crew stores (Michigan Ave and North Ave stores, both in Chicago, IL). I was disappointed because I mainly went to try the patch pocket pencil skirt (I want to try the navy one) and neither store had it. I will probably buy it online before the promo ends. Michigan Ave is supposed to be a "flagship" store so I was surprised they didn't carry it. What was more surprising is that none of the SAs at either store even knew what skirt I was talking about. It's always a little disappointing when I'm more familiar with J Crew's clothing stock than the SAs. Here's what I did try:
ReplyDelete*jewel collar baseball tippi in silver graphite. I am a huge Tippi fan and this one is no exception. I really like this but the cream color in the front is very see through. I was wearing a black bra so it probably made it worse. I always size down in tippis. This fit like all of my other tippis so I would get your true tippi size. I may wait for this to go to sale as I really don't need it.
*tossed heart button down shirt. I really liked this. It fit TTS, much like the heart throb from last year. I may get this one with promo.
*Drapey crepe henley tunic: I really liked this, a lot. More than I expected. Very luxe fabric and it is lined. I sized down in this one. I LOVED the bright cerise color and would go for that one if I do buy it.
*Andie chinos in tuxedo stripe and fatigue. These don't work on me but I do love the look of the tuxedo stripe look. My true size is too tight and the size up is too loose. Pass for me. I want to the Gap right after J Crew and bought their skinny mini chinos which look similar to the Andies in a fatigue color for 23 bucks on sale.
I was aslo hoping to find the ruffle collar top that Audrey Bella reviewed in this post: http://audreybella.blogspot.com/2013/08/j-crew-fall-2013-4.html (sorry I don't know how to paste as a link) because it's not online. I was disappointed that the Michigan Avenue store did not have that either. I LOVE this top. Has anyone seen it in their store?
I was surprised that there wasn't more I wanted to try on. I don't look good in boxy or loose tops- I feel that J Crew had a lot of that look this year (e.g., the tunics that have been popular).
I saw it at my store on Thursday! Willow Grove in Pennsylvania
DeleteThanks!!
DeleteWent in Copley Boston to return something. They have the best staff. Molested a lot of clothes and found the quality lacking. For example, the new schoolboy looked gorgeous in burnished rust (gorgeous orange) but threads were already coming loose and the material felt like felt rather than wool. And it looked like a hacking jacket. Colors were blah, materials thing or sometimes plasticky. I remain disappointed in this rollout.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! Posted some new reviews today, camo-themed. ;) Camo Tee, Excursion Vest in Camo, Skinny Utility Chinos in camo and Wool Camo Scarf. HERE.t
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard anyone review the leather panel cardigan, so here goes. I went with my usual size. The leather is quite nice, has pockets. The only thing if you button it the side pockets bulge because of the leather. Otherwise I love it and think I will have more cost per wear use as I plan to wear it as a light jacket for fall and its doable for work and weekend wear. Hope this helps
ReplyDeleteAlso, with the leather pocket tunic, I had to go down a size as the regular size was too roomy in the chest area and the sleeves length was too long.
DeleteTOT, but I am starting to look into older J.Crew pieces based on feedback I'm sensing from this blog about the quality of old vs new at J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone able to comment on the fit of the cheshire jacket from 2007? Would you take the jacket in your current J.Crew size? Did you find the sizing for that jacket ran small or large?
Thank you SO much for your help! This is such an amazing community.
I have the Cheshire and I took my usual size. I think the jacket is TTS.
DeleteAmanda Lee - Clinique sells a black honey lipstick every x minutes. I forget the status they tout. I always how many new JCAs are born each day ;). Welcome!
DeleteI have 2 of the Cheshire jackets (both from ebay) and they are sz.2, which is my current J Crew size. They are fitted thru the shoulder and arm, but quite swingy thru the body, so depending on how your body is shaped, you could maybe size up or down.
DeleteThank you all for your help! I decided to hang tight and wait for one to come around in my true size. Have a great week : )
DeleteOh that dress design dept. Check out the silk tonal paisley dress. Spoilalert: the thumb wasn't happy.
ReplyDeleteoh yah....my SA's were all talking about how obscenely short this dress is. And they are all young and cute and can wear a short dress and they still said they wouldn't wear it! So who's this designed for???
Deleteyeah. I guess it's designed to go with pixie pants . . .
DeleteFinally got in to the store! I love the Skinny Utility Chinos!! Finally a JC pant that actually looks cute/flattering on my high-waisted ruler shape! The rise is higher than the Andie, and therefore, much better on me. I got my usual size. I love the camo print, but have a cute pair of camo jeans from GAP from last year, so no need for a repeat! I got the eggplant color. I think it's versatile and won't look dated in a nano-second, like the camo. I really liked the merino wool patch pocket sweater and grabbed one of those too. I sized down from S to XS in this one. It was huge in my regular size. I wore the similar one from last year a lot and envision getting a ton of use out of it. And I LOVED the Drapey Crepe Henley Tunic! Fabulous! Fits maybe a touch big, but close to TTS. I got a 4 and it's perfect. Sometimes 4's are a bit snug under the arms, but not in this one. I will wear it all the time! I bought it in the black color. The red color is very bright. I tried the leather Pixies and they're ok. Also fit TTS. I passed on them since I have another pair and a couple pairs of Minnies. The leather patch pocket tunic sweater was lovely, but I'm holding off on it. I have a feeling it may sell out, but something held me back. Fits the same as the Merino patch pocket sweater. I tried the leather paneled cardigan and it fits TTS, I'd say, maybe a bit big. I liked it unbuttoned, but buttoned it balloons out at the side slash pockets and is very unflattering. I don't think sizing down would've helped, but maybe. Other than that, not a ton that caught my attention. Looks like we're all focused on the same handful of items. I also really liked a couple of the scarves, but held off on those too b/c I do think you can score these much cheaper later in the season.
ReplyDeleteI might have to try those Skinny Utility Chinos! The Andies were CRAZY low on me! thanks for the review!
DeleteI didn't visit J Crew (it's a bit far to travel!) but I did a quick review of the drapey sailor tee here.I went with my usual size, XS, and it's quite roomy, but I like the drapey-ness!
ReplyDeleteI went Thursday afternoon.
ReplyDelete-Tried the Tweed-Front Merino Sweater in Graphite. I didn't like how the pockets were sewn in inside (ditto-per another JCA's review). I don't think you'll get a lot of use with it because of the pockets and the delicate woven feature on the front, unless you are super careful. It fits TTS. So unfortunate because I really like the sweater.
-Tried the Houndstooth Tippi in Navy/Gray. This one is not online yet, only in stores, guessing it'll be on September's mini-roll out. Fits TTS. I like it, and would most likely but it in the future.
-Tried the Minnie Wool in oxblood. I thought the sizing would be different this time around, but its not. It bunches under my butt, and I didn't fill the pants the way I wanted it to. I think I am better off with the Pixie.
Was hoping to see the Double Cloth Moto Jacket in beige stone, Strappy Mirror Metallic Pumps, Quilted Jacket, Cafe Capri in Antiqued Floral, Ruffled Popover in luau indigo, and of course, my downtown SF store didn't carry it. Boo.
BTW, I just purchased the Nike Pegasus, not from J.Crew (sold out?) but from Zappos. It's the same price. But I get free shipping, for buying it for $80 with tax. Can't beat that, J.Crew!
DeleteTheir stock was disappearing fast, so I had to act fast and ordered my size 5.5.
I got mine through Nike's website. Zappos didn't have my size, and that sucked. But Nike also has free shipping on orders of $75+, so I lucked out all the same.
DeleteWAY off topic but Mickey Drexler just bought an A1 car wash on Breaking Bad!! I thought my ears were deceiving me..and perhaps my eyes but I just confirmed by watching the credits!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I can't stop thinking about crazy that was and perhaps I feel a little crazy for knowing who this particular car wash customer was...anyone else see him?? How totally unexpected. He must be another super fan of the show:)) Do I win some kinda prize for the first report?? Ha!
ReplyDeletebug pin - I am so behind on Breaking Bad and I watch the current episodes. Of course you win a prize...a bug pin! Nothing else as awesome has replaced it. Unless you want a Lucido coat.
DeleteGood to see you.
Has any one seen or tried on the collection cashmere Diamond sweater my store didn't have it and I was wondering what other peoples thoughts are on it that' have seen the sweater and how it fits!
ReplyDeleteI saw the beautiful sweater at my store, and it is a very goregous sweater. Two ply so it's a little thicker than the usual cashmere sweaters you get. It feels very soft and plush. I want it in the black and white.
DeleteMary G - Agree w/Wendy. The diamond cashmere is thicker. Very soft. Very nice. I would've liked tohe print to be a little sharper, but that may be a yarn thing.
DeleteThanx so much Wendy and Gigi that was very helpful!
DeleteI tried both the Collection capri and the salmon mini in Quartz Jacquard and the material is awful. SO ITCHY. How are they even selling?!
ReplyDeleteI picked up the fluted skirt in double crepe in ivory. The 00 is backordered online but I found one in store and snatched it immediately. It's more than I would like to pay for a poly/viscose blend...but at the same time, I've been looking for a skirt like this for the past 3 years and this one meets all my criteria.
I also ordered through their phone the silk boy blouse in contrast trim (had to after seeing it on Gigi!). After tax, it's the same price as an Everlane, so I'm VERY happy and thankful it comes in petite sizes. The silk itself doesn't match up to the softness of an Equipment blouse, but at least it won't make me look like I'm swimming in it!
