Has anyone tried the silk or chiffon gingham tops? My store des t have them. Are they sheer even with the lining...and cheap looking? Is the front super low? I can't tell from the pictures how much skin they show.

reaganflowers, I have the sleeveless silk one in navy gingham. It doesn't seem sheer to me because of the print and the lining. The slit in front is not too low for me, and it is even less noticeable if you button the one button. I will probably wear it unbuttoned. The navy looks more like black, though. My store didn't have the long sleeve version so I don't know what that is like.

DeleteI tried the cami this weekend, and loved it. That said, I don't '$110' love it ;) Sale wish listed for me. Loved it buttoned up, but wasn't too low either way. Super cute. I'm excited to see the long sleeve version...
DeleteMy interest in this rollout is waning. I would have bought a bunch with a full-price promo. By the time they get around to offering one, I'll have moved on. If they can't be profitable with the 25/30% off promotions, why not offer a 15/20% off promotion like Boden?

I had a terrible experience at a factory store trying to purchase the new quilted vests on the 40% sale that I had seen online that very morning. They told me they were pulled for the sale, and eventually agreed to purchase it online for the sale price and ship it to me. But apparently they had pulled them online too. So I left extremely unhappy at the poor service, only to find them BACK online on 40% the next morning. WTF j crew? Not cool.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I received the stripe jersey maxi skirt in the navy colorway, and although it's a bit lengthy for my 5'2" midget frame, it is gorgeous and so soft. Love it.
jessy, i went through a similar experience when i asked about the peter pan tee (in gray). they pulled it off the floor for the sale and i asked if they would match the online price and the SA said they couldn't do that at the factory stores. The optic dot tee in white was also off the floor. I ended up ordering both online, will not be going back to that factory store again... masha
DeleteSame experience yesterday. A Factory manager told me they had "sold out" and would get more next week, but a SA (probably new) told me there were some in the back. I ordered it online.

Yep. I was appalled that they pulled the vests and gray peter pan tops. How stupid of them! They never should have put them on the floor 6/16 when they came out, if they did not want to sell them at 40% off, OR, how about stopping with the 40% off the whole store promos? Just plainly refusing to sell them by hiding them in the back of the store and pretending that they are out of stock is the worst possible of dealing with the issue, IMO.
DeleteJ.Crew Factory is just plain confusing. I just checked the website and the vests, the color block sleeveless tops, the black peter pan top and the traveler sweater are not online anymore. They were there last night. Go figure what they are doing.

They are gone AGAIN?? Oh wow, the factory is a mess. I saw the optic dot shirt and the peter pan shirt on the floor for 40% when I was there Friday. Was told only the vests and one dress were excluded from the sale.
DeleteI emailed my VPS about the encounter and she offered to honor the price for me, but I had already bought it when I saw it back online for a hot second. Other than that she wasn't very apologetic. If they really need my $5 shipping so badly, they can just have it.
Holy cow, the vests really have disappeared from the Factory website since this morning. The manager yesterday who lied to me about "no stock in back" did say that the vests are selling extremely well already in the season. So ... clearly they don't want or need to sell 'em at 40% off right now.
DeleteI'm thinking we are going to see a lot more of this going forward - hide and seek w merch, exclusions, less ability to stack discounts - as J. Crew accepts that promos are now a necessary evil and tries to work them to their best advantage.
J. Crew made a mistake including them in the 40% off and a bigger mistake lying about what happened. They should know those vests will sell like hotcakes after the pop-back selling frenzy last winter.

Try eBay seller rjustins. They have a ton of Ceces for sale at a decent price. I recently bought a pair in Fresh Strawberry from them.

DeleteExtra 50% off crewcuts in store now. I thought some of the new arrivals looked great in person. The jeweled short sleeved sweatshirt was nice and the green silk placket dress was gorgeous. Hard to know whether too short for my 5 ft 6 in frame because I needed the next size up. Color is tdf.
