J.Crew of Seasons Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This post features an ad for Crewcuts ballet flats. Not sure when this came out, but the shot is gorgeous! The colors! The patterns! I want them all in my size!!!

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

  1. Glitter, animal print, polka dots, bows - I don't think they are dated. We've seen the same this year either from J. Crew, Madewell, or other retailers.

  2. I have a pair of J.Crew flats (yellow tweed) from high school that are still going strong. They don't look out of date, either. I miss when J.Crew's shoes were so well-made!

    1. I think that I have those same flats. Are they also embellished with a brown velvet bow and brass chain? I still get compliments on them. I wore my first pair to death (that's saying something because they are such good quality) and ended up replacing them with a new pair from eBay a few years ago. Still searching for the bright pink version that I'm kicking myself for not getting.

    2. Yes! Same ones. Mine are still doing great. I'll probably have to resole them soon-ish, but the rest of it still is nice. I think my feet have grown a smidge since I got them (maybe I grew during my college years? haha), so they're a little bit tight, but nothing I can't deal with for these awesome shoes.

  3. Oh right, my original thought on these kiddie shoes. I would probably be sporting those polka dot ones if they fit. Too cute and definitely still very much current as Rose said.

  4. A bit OT: I was dressed in head to toe "vintage" JCrew over the weekend. My dusty purple henly CITY fit tee. Anyone remember those? I own about 10 of them in various styles and colors from cowel neck to snap shoulder as well. No holes EVER after years of wash/wear and no pills or fading! Ladder stitch cardi in grayish blue and a gray knit pair of city fit pants. LOVE. Comfortable stylish and I still love the items as much as if they were made today instead of years ago. Quailty cannot be beat then.
