It is a busy print, so it won't work for me. But I have no doubt that J.Crew will style it beautifully in their catalog, tricking me into believing I could pull it off. ;)
On a bright note, new arrivals are just around the corner. We should expect to see some new pretties this Thursday.
What are your thoughts on the pants from J.Crew? Do you like the print and style?
Love that the $298 pants are listed as a steal. It's all about perspective, I guess!

ReplyDeleteWHile I will not bite while it is at that price point, for me, it is all about the cut... I was gob-smacked for the leopard print jacquard capris and they fit very oddly - not at all like the floral ones or the safe capris. They would have required a visit to the tailor and for that price I was not biting! I think they are quite pretty but I could not wear these to work, so for a fun personal item, they are too steep!

ReplyDeleteBet they match in quality to the $49 H&M pants being shown... I'd be interested in the print if it's also released in a pencil skirt, but doubt the quality will stand up to scrutiny. J.Crew has just become farcical in the prices it charges for cut-rate clothes.
ReplyDeleteI think they are hideous. They remind me of something a little old lady would wear! And for $298... don't even get me started. They will wind up in the final sale section for $89.99, most likely.
ReplyDeleteNo no no no no! That much floral has no business being on pants, IMO. A skirt, maybe, but I can't imagine who -- other than a very young, tall, slender model -- could pull them off. And $298? Seriously?

ReplyDeleteI've seen a photo of those pants styled with a peplum blouse of the same print. The outfit was actually quite nice, I thought. But, not the price....

I'm really annoyed that most of the unique pieces of recent collections are extortionately priced. Didn't used to be this way.

I am misliking J. Crew's most recent floral prints otherwise I would def consider floral pants. IMO, it's all in how you wear them. You kind of have to tough it up with a leather jacket or go crazy and pair with stripes. Otherwise it gets too matronly.
ReplyDelete@JCrewJD, my thoughts exactly! HIDEOUS. Matronly on anyone over 30. The only way I see this working is on a tall thin teenager or 20-something worn with irony with strappy F-me stilettos or tough high-heeled booties and leather jacket.

I grew up in the early 90s and had SO many pants like this. Eeek. In fact, I made a polyvore kind of making fun of the return of this trend.

However, I do have a soft spot in my heart for floral pants, but doubt that I will ever do the trend again. Would love to see others give the look a stab.
I do wear my Cherry Blossom pants a lot, but it may be because the florals are less obvious and the cut is very preppy.
The pattern here is far too big for me to wear anywhere near my thighs (and I probably shouldn't have done it as a teen, either, lol).
Wow, on all accounts...I cannot understand the price point on these pants. I agree that a tall, very thin 20 something could pull them off with the right accessories, but how many 20 somethings have that kind of cash! I know I didn't. I think JC's "showing" during fashion week has given them an inflated sense of well being!
