Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I ran in yesterday morning to make some returns and it seemed like most of the store was on sale with the extra 30% off, but that means it was all final sale, too. The SA told me that anytime they have an extra % off now it is always final sale. Something to keep in mind when you shop at the B&M.

  2. Btw, if anyone is looking for the Shrunken Fisherman Sweater, they had all colors and sizes at the Orlando store as of yesterday morning.

  3. Naturally there was a big sale update this morning now that the extra 30% is over ...

I went to 3 different Chicago-area B & Ms yesterday (rewarded with a Beaumont Jacket for $129, yay!) and at the last one, the SA actually took my receipt and STAMPED IT with this big red-lettered "Final Sale no returns" message.

That was a new one for me ... has anyone else had their receipt stamped in red?

  4. Does anyone know if the exra 30 is still going on in stores or is it over, too?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ruffles, they've done that at my stores since after Christmas. Sometimes they mark the tags, too

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks Mommydearest, it was a store I don't usually visit. My regular store has never done that, but it's a small store and I think they know that their customers get the stupid final sale policy.

But maybe they'll start too. Another reason to hate final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'll be heading into Chicago downtown, so I can report back if there are some goodies on the sale racks :>

    ReplyDelete
  8. I am going to try and stay way from the website this weekend. I am still trying to recover from yesterday's shopping!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Louise: ditto. Must not shop anymore!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. ruffles - I've had the big stamp, too. It it went on for awhile at a few stores I visit, but now they don't seem to use it at all. They do seem to make a point to tell customers about the policy while they're ringing them up. I love it when they tell people that if they want the option to return, they can decline the 30% off. Riiiiight...let's do that. I don't think so ;)

  11. I just moved to DC-What is the best store to go to in the area?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Prolly not if xtra 30 is off - kinda anticlimatic when you know something was cheaper yesterdayfals

    ReplyDelete
  13. Louise: ditto. Except I caught a long-sought popback this morning, but have no realistic expectation of it shipping, since it's been ordered and failed to ship 5 - yes, 5! - times already. le sigh.

  14. I was at the b&m at Easton in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday and all women's fedoras were $10 off. I'm not sure if that's still the case.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I got a 20% off your purchase coupon in my July catalog - anyone know if you can get the 20% off as well as the 30% off sale? If so, that would be a super deal and make me happy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Amy, if your catalog coupon is online only you won't be able to get the extra 30 and use that coupon as J Crew doesn't allow you to stack codes. If it's in-store then I'm not sure... hth

    ReplyDelete
  17. It says in-store or online...think I may head to a B&M at lunch to check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anyone been to a B&M yet this morning? Is extra 30% still on?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Does anyone have the Factory Silk Camp Shirt?

I love the colors and it looks like a nice silk but I have never seen this item before today and since it is marked down so much... I am wondering if it is a dud or not.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I asked the SA at the store (North Michigan Ave. Chicago) yesterday if Thursday was the last day for the extra 30% off in stores. He said he thought it was extended through the weekend. I hope he is right! I'll call in about 1/2 hour and find out & will post the response.

    ReplyDelete
  21. J.CrewJD - Shopwithm has pics of the factory camp shirt in this post.

I called a store. 30% off is still in effect.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @wellfedfred - What did you order?! Wow, 5 times - maybe this time is the charm!

I debated the floral swing skirt until about 11:30 p.m. last night and couldn't justify it, even at the amazing sale price. It's definitely an occasion skirt and couldn't see myself wearing it very much, unlike the other things I bought.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks Gigi and Shopalot, I just called my store as well and the 30%is still in effect through the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm not going to the store, but if you are, check out the in-store cuts post.

I also noted online markdowns as of this morning at the top of this post.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just popped in B&M and 30% is still on. They also allowed me to combine with my student discount.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not this weekend, since I was there a couple of days ago. SOme reviews here.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yay! Thanks for the news about the 30% offer still going in stores. Am looking for either the madras patchwork shirt or jacket (size 0 or 2). Has anyone seen either of these items in their local store?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Heading to the factory store in Harriman, NY and hoping they have a great percentage off too- especially for Crewcuts!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I posted it by mistake before under Jenna's post but it really belongs here:

I went yesterday to GSP store. They got new arrivals and they get everything about month in advance since it is a concept store.
    I though I'd share what I've seen.

First of all, there was lot's of bright colors in beautiful hues. Shades of 'modern red', 'bright dahlia' , 'matisse blue' and casbah green.
I saw two long pencil skirts that looked to be 27" inches long. One was leopard print, I think cotton, very pretty but unlined and one was emerald green fine tweed.
They had new version of classics, cashmere, wide cable sweaters in all the colors, looked very soft and yummy, perfect shirts in gingham checks and such, some tunic type longer shirts, one in very pretty purple, new cords, gold button schoolboy blazers etc.
They also had some very soft, oversized Jaspe type sweatshirts with 3/4 sleeves that you can fold to elbow length by flipping wide cuff. I tried one in georgeous purple (bright dahlia?) and I was really tempted to buy it. It was $68.
They had Mona pumps and I tried them on but they were uncomfortable and fitted very small. I wear 8 in many brands, mostly 8.5 in J crew closed toe shoes, but I had to get 9 in Mona.
They also had an rainbow array of extremely cute, knee high rain boots with zipper all the way in the back.
Since it was raining, I could not help myself and I got a pair of red ones. They were $79.
I also saw the cutest red mini pursette. It has soft leather, rounded bottom and flap closure with pretty gold hardware and just enough space for your essentials like wallet, cellphone, keys and lipstick. I think it was $148.
I also tried on soft orange Ikat version of Caroline(?) dress, which was very pretty. If you like something in Ikat, this maybe a nice dress, much more substantial than Indira dress.
Sale section was small and severely depleted.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ajc: Thanks for the details on what you saw there!
This is making me look forward to Fall even more. The colors sound amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I posted before about new arrivals but I also tried on Maritime blazer and Paradisa dress.

    Maritime blazer:
Very cute and comfortable, has a curve hugging fit but definitely a size down for me.
I wear size 6 in blazers, I am 34D and I got best fit in extra small. I even asked an SA if Small would be a better fit. Small had too much fabric in the arms and hung unattractively when open. It is a stretchy fabric so it hepls but I could button it easily up with no gaping. I do have narrow shoulders. The store had a navy version with white stripes which to me looked crisper than white with navy stripes. I am on the fence with this one. I liked the color and waist nipping fit but I usually do not like unlined blazers and it did curled up a little when open.

If any of you got it and worn it let me know how you like it.

    Paradisa Dress
This was very cute on and I could hardly keep myself from buying it. It looked so good with the Maritime blazer over it and the red rain boots. The length is great, right to my knee (I am 5'6") and the little pompoms along the hem are beyond adorable.
It is NOT high waisted, which is my pet peeve with most JC dresses. The bodice was roomy enough for my chest and it fitted me well in my regular dress size 6. Embroidery and color are lovely.
I did not want to spend $168 and I vowed not to get any dresses that I cannot wear with regular bra, so I left it at the store, but if it gets marked down I probably won't be able to stay away.

  33. Polaris store had the usual suspects of sad tees and chinos. I was surprised at how big the Shrunken Fisherman Sweater seems to run- I really like it but passed in order to buy THREE striped tops...managed to snag the button-back striped tee in the olive stripe that was a return, a basic navy stripe tee, and the Spring Swingtime Sweater in the indigo stripe. That was surprisingly flattering.

I really need bottoms, but even if I can find a 14 in the store, it doesn't fit right.

  37. ajc,
Thanks so much for all the great info. I am Soooooo ready for fall. I'm with you on the Paradisa dress. It is pretty pricey and I detest strapless bras. I have not tried it and would likely have to order it. I doubt my B&M will get it. What is GSP? Thanks!

  42. I just got back and I have to say half the store was literally on sale, plus the 30% off "final sale' except for the shoes. Some of the shoes that are online, on-sale were not marked down in my store, such as the Iris sandals and Camille Wedges.

But I did see/find the following.
*Cecilia Dress in Casablanca Blue $99.99/White $79.99
*Mirabel Pencil Skirt & Eyelet Pencil Skirt in Blue $79.99
    *Shrunken Fisherman Sweater $59.99
*In-Store Navy Gingham Mini Bubble Skirt $24.99
    *Stripe Silk Tee $59.99
    *Summerweight Chino Shorts $29.50
*Featherweight Cotton Cardigan $39.99-white/agate/yellow/orange/sea mist/dark slate
    *4-strand Pearl necklace in gray/pewter $29.99

My receipt wasn't stamped with FS but it was printed out on each line item.

  43. Louise - yes 5 - don't want to be specific now for fear of jinxing the order. Last time I got the Dreaded AFTER the order was "released." will post results when I know.

ajc - thanks for reviews! Did you happen to notice price/length on that emerald green tweed skirt?

  45. No shopping for me. I have a pretty bad crewlade hangover :) J.Crew makes me feel crazy sometimes and I wonder if they do it on purpose. I laugh when I picture how I would wake up at 4:30am, blindly grabbing my eyeglasses and laptop in the dark, and then speed shopping the 30% off sale with this crazy look in my face, heart racing, eyes darting at my cart to see if my items are still there, and then pressing the submit button with a sigh of relief. It's such an adrenaline rush, yes? I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

Have a happy weekend everyone! I've been watching this J.Crew video. It's been raining here in the midwest and this is so perfect for the upcoming weekend :)

  47. OT: Does anyone have sizing tips or rec's for the JCrew bikini swim tops?

I had to return a size M ruched Betty bikini top because the band was way too big/loose, although the cups seemed fine and had the coverage I wanted (I'm a 34C and went by the size chart). I'm a bit hesitant to do many trial/error orders, but have no idea how the sizing works. I'm about to reorder in a small but am also thinking about getting a top with a specific bra size. Is it true they run big? Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks for thinking of me AJC: I got to try the dress in pink (which is a neon pink by the way) in the store today and it does not work either. Why is the chest so darn big? I sent you an email. Thanks again! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Louise, everybody, I hope it's not too early to celebrate but I just received an email stating that my long-sought popback shipped. At least, something shipped. I hope it's the padget plaid shirt that I ordered.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Found the Cecilia dress in white marked down to $39.99 PLUS the 30%...so tempted as I've been looking for a white dress, but I worry there's too much material in the hip area which is where I carry a lot of my weight. It's on hold along with the Delaney eyelet dress, which I think is most flattering, but I worry about the length with my big legs and the wrinkle factor. I think it's longer on me than it is on the model.

Dorrie skirt in the modern red is also on hold, but I can't decide if it's really for me. Hoping to get someone to come to the store with me today for a second opinion, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have the silk Sophie camp shirt in the teal color and it's decent quality silk. I was worried the muslin (ivory) one would be too see-through, but now that I have one, I'd be less worried. The cut is boxy and shorter than I expected -- I tried tucking it into a high waist skirt and it still pulled out. (Mine is a size 6P and I'm 5'4"). I had tried on the regular 4 and in hindsight, the longer, regular size might have been a better choice for tucking in.

I ordered the muslin silk peplum blouse a couple days ago -- eagerly awaiting that one.

Anyone interested in the Accordion dress in Super 120s should be prepared to go down a full dress size. I normally wear 4 in J. Crew dresses and the 2 fit perfectly. And it is worth it -- that dress ROCKS. I love love love. Can't wait to get it cleaned and wear it again. Very Kate Middleton.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Editor, I enthusiastically second that opinion on the Accordian Dress. I have in in Dk Heather Gray and with a cute belt, it ROCKS.

I wore it last week for a presentation and got a thousand compliments. It is the perfect combination of girly and professional.

    ReplyDelete
  53. wellfedfred, the emerald green skirt seemed longer than regular pencil skirt length, it looked like about 27". I could not look at the price or fabric tag because it was just displayed on mennequin, not for sale. But the color was beautiful. They do it for items that are just a preview, they may end up in retail few months later. GSP (Garden State Plaza, Paramus NJ)is a concept store where they get items earlier to test the customer response.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I wondered what GSP stood for! lol I wish they had a store like that where I live!

  55. Oak Brook still has a really good selection in the sale section today with 30% off still going. Lots of dresses for 39.99-99.99, Cafe Capris and Chino Shorts in many sizes 29.99, patterned Perfect Shirts 29.99-39.99, and Ballet flats 49.99. A decent selection of Men's shirts. Plus all the usual tired tees and knits.

OT, but isn't this the most off centered crotch you've ever seen?

(no joke, my word verification is totally dirty: hymen)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Christy - they get away with that awful look (and I imagine awkward feeling to wear as well) by actually calling it a BIAS zipper pant! Yuck!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wellfedfred - Fingers crossed that it's in the mail and on its way to you now. I'm sure you will get it! You will definitely have to post pics on your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  59. actually, I have seen the Nili drop crotch pants on a young, slim gal and they were very cute. While definitely "man repellers" and perhaps not for my age bracket, very cool for a hipster.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, instead of the blue lace skirt, I came home with the mirabel skirt. It was hard deciding between the two, but I can find a navy skirt again (and maybe even this same one on super sale in the future). Lots of stuff on sale, but those were the only 2 sale items I tried on. My ps had me try on the chambray shirt-jacket (return) and I really like it but don't think it's worth $98. My b&m didn't have the new paisley pencil skirt or the new jardin skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Re: the Cecelia in white: I actually found it to be quite flattering and I have full hips. But I couldn't get over the "looking like a bridesmaid" feeling so returned it ... even though I too got it at a great price!

    ReplyDelete
  62. There wasn't much I was interested in in the sale section, but I did score three of the Linen Island Cardigans for $27.99 each. Only the Dusty Blush was on sale in store – for $49.99 – but they honored the online price of $39.99 minus 30% for it, AND the Indigo and Cinnamon Spice (both still marked at full price of $79.50). Being aware of the online prices, and reading blogs like JCA and Gigi's, can really be helpful in scoring deals!

  65. If anyone is missing a tulle bikini top in Rosewood in a size 32D I returned it to the JC in Vegas. It was sent to me instead of my swoop tee, which is now unavailable. My hubby was thrilled to hear I received a bikini top in size 32 D but alas, the boobs were NOT included! Oh well!

  66. The Crewlet at Harriman was swarming, with lines almost out the door- 50% off all sweaters and clearance! Then adding my 20% off coupon, and I made out very well. Scary how they don't take percent off til adding everything up and up....then wham! It goes down with a thud at the end! They were also taking student id, but not at the same time as the 20%.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I have 2 free shipping codes I'm not going to use and thought I'd share:

    J. Crew free shipping no minimum through 6/26, I think this one will only work once:

    LEMER6S35

Lands End free shipping no minimum through 6/30,it says this one will work multiple times:

    Promo Code: SALEAWAY
    PIN: 4523

    Hope that helps someone :)

  68. @Dianadraw re bikini tops:

I did not have good luck with a fit. Although most of the JCAs advised to size down I just sent back the ruffle underwire top because it was TEENY. I ordered the smaller of my two bra sizes and would have been prosecuted if I'd appeared at the beach! Even if the cup had fit, the design does not provide enough coverage to avoid a nip slip. The cup is basically only half a hemisphere, so the entire "top half" is exposed. Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Went to the downtown SF location and rebought the eyelet blazer with the 30% plus my 15% student discount - which they were happy to "stack". Saved myself $50. Went to the Stonestown mall location and found the Aurora tweed skirt in a beautiful shimmery orange Fall color for less than $25 after the discount applied. Amazing!! SO happy :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Visited both JCs in Austin over the lat two days. Both had the 30% off marked down merchandise (Final sale). Selection was better (and neater) at Barton Creek Square than the Domain. Lots of cotton sweaters, shrunken fishermen sweaters, tees, tanks and jeans and dresses. Worth checking it out.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am confused and I wonder if somebody could help me. I thought the student and teacher discount applied only to full price merchandise. I am seeing a lot of JCA's posting about receiving both the 30% plus student 15%. Am I missing something? I have made a lot of purchases lately and never asked for both :( Could I have gotten it?

    ReplyDelete
  72. BonnieMC, JC just started applying the 15% discount to all merchandise. Alexis posted about it on June 21.

    ReplyDelete
  73. BonnieMc: J.Crew just changed the policy this past week (Monday I believe), and is now once again allowing the educator and student discounts to be applied to sale and extra % off sale items along with full-price merchandise.

    ReplyDelete
  74. JCAs! Has anyone seen in person or tried on the last straw ballet flats? Just curious to hear any opinions since it's such a great price right now in stores. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  75. @Hexicon Thanks for the posting that re: the ruffle underwire top! I was actually about to pull the trigger on that one. Yikes. I also had read comments to size down, which is why I'm totally confused as to which size to order. CS wasn't very helpful as the rep kept repeating "the swim pieces fit true to the size chart." Yeah, sure they do, buddy.

If anyone has useful size tips about the pleated underwire or the new glamour underwire bikin tops, please let me know! I'm wondering if the glamour is cut just like the ruffle one now.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks for the info on the 15% discount. I know it's a longshot but I'm going to try to get a PA since my purchases were this past Friday.

  78. Can someone tell me if this years Summer Weight Bermuda short is sized similar to last years? Last years fit bigger than last years classic 9" chinos did.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Went to the Vegas store and made some purchases. I tried to use my student card to get an additional 15% off the sale items but the CS said he couldn't apply it. He said that he could only apply one "discount transaction". Therefore, he couldn't apply the 15% off onto the 30% off sale. I told him that other stores were doing it, but he said that they shouldn't be able to. I am confused..I feel like I got cheated. Many of the JCAs here seemed to be able to get both. =(

    ReplyDelete
  80. I find that the Vegas store is maybe a little behind sometimes. It seems from reading everyone else's comments the markdowns are slower, they get very little inventory and maybe policies are behind. The next closest Jcrew store us at least 4 hours away so I wonder if that contributes to the issue?

I'll never forget how I was once told that I couldnt return or exchange an item that I purchased online (within the return dates and not final sale). I had to go home, stew over it, call customer service, load my kids up again and talk with the manager who was totally baffled and actually called the rep when they were off to figure out why they didn't do the return.

I would call customer service and get their feed back or call the store to talk to the manager for the discount. If it is policy you should get it!

    ReplyDelete
  81. CheriS- I tried the Summerweight Chinos a couple weeks ago and I thought they ran big. From last year, I took a size 2 in the chino shorts, and so I tried on a size 2 in the summerweight, much too big. They didn't have any 0's or else I would have tried them for size, but I bet even those would have been loose-ish on me. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  82. MegCrew, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can speak to the manager. Sorry to hear about your problem with the online return. I've gotten grief from them as well when I tried to return an online item that was purchased after 30 days but before the 60 day window. Hopefully, I can get some clarity to the policy. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  83. @ Christy

You should definitely contact CS. I was also dubious about getting the double discount but I tried it today and they absolutely honored it. It it not fair to have a double standard - some stores honoring it and some not! I have to say - it is definitely going to influence me to buy some more sale stuff. So happy to snag the eyelet blazer for about $50!

    ReplyDelete
  84. CheriS, I totally agree that the Summerweight Bermudas fit at least one size larger than the 9 inch chinos.
Christy, I shop the Vegas store and I was told the same as you regarding the extra student/teacher discount, that it cannot be combined with an extra percentage off. I agree it is very agravating to read that others are getting the extra discount. I wonder if it is because so much of their clientele are tourists so they figure they won't go out of their way to make you happy. It is still not an excuse, just wondering if that might be the case.

    ReplyDelete
  85. DianaDraw,

I was one of those who posted to size down... of course I also failed to mention that some of the tops are ridiculous and have NO coverage. The new glamour top is one of the offenders. One of the printed underwire tops I have from last year is so obscene in my regular size that I can't wear it in public.

Not only do they provide no coverage since they are just basically half a cup, I also find them very unflattering. Showing too much pasty skin that should not see the light of day!!! I stay away from the underwire tops if they look like they have the no coverage thing going on. Ick.

My ruched betty top is arriving today, now I am pretty sure that it won't fit. I am a 34D, or 36C, hoping it won't be too big around like it was for you! That is insane. I am sorry you had that issue. Their swimwear is SO cute, too bad it's so hard to find the right sizes.

  86. OT: It looks like J.Crew is going to bring back the Hacking Jacket. Two colors are available on the Net-a-Porter UK site right now: Click here.

  87. Christy,

When I liveds in MN I went to two JCrews within a few minutes of each other. One would allow the educator or student discount with an extra % off and the other one wouldn't. Nothing new...been going on for MANY years that each store does their own thing.

I then found out one store reported the other store to "headquarters" and things changed....

  88. P.S. Meaning that you really shouldn't get double discounts is the actual policy but "whatever" seems to be the motto of J.Crew and "inconsistency" as well.

  89. My PS actually called me last week to let me know that policy had changed and the teacher/student discount was now available on everything, even when there was another discount available.

  90. The consistent thing about J Crew is their lack of consistency. I don't know where the disconnect happens in their communication pipeline, but it's pretty bad. I love it when the stores haven't updated the prices on the retail tags. If I wasn't a JCA, I would pass by many items, believing they were a different price than indicated. I imagine that slows the merch from moving out of the store like they want.

  91. I wanted to give an update: I spoke with the manager today. She said that the new policy for student discount applies to sales items, but never together with the 30% off sale. She said that this is the policy that everyone should be following. So then all the other stores are implementing the wrong policy?! That certainly doesn't make sense. I realize it's only 15% off, but I just wish there was some consistency here. That's all. Sorry, this really should be under the vent section.
