Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  5. I am going to return the jacinta cami and exchange the green shortcut sweater for the navy (so glad it's also gone on sale). And look at the new items. :)

  6. Going tonite to make returns and check out the sale section. I haven't been in a couple of weeks and the store markdowns are almost always better than online prices - (it truly astounds me sometimes at the price discrepancies)!

  7. Yes store markdowns were better last weekend. I got the eyelet blazer in white for $89 (or $80, can't remember). And the little monkey pin with crystal eyes for $9.00 which immediately broke as soon as I opened the packet and tried to put it on...so I guess I am going back to return it :)

  8. For those of you who are interested, the Indira Ikat dress appears to be back online in most sizes/colors.

  9. I went yesterday. I got the Ikat print tank in papaya ($29 now) - love the bright and pretty color! Also bought the liberty print (mini?) skirt that's not on line any more in blue. It's a bit short, but I can pull it down quite a bit. It's casual yet special because of the print, I love it! It's an eminently wearable piece. Both items fit true to size.

  10. My store was sold out of Mirabel skirt. Only one dress in faded black left in size 00. I tried it on for size and much to my surprise it fit. I have NEVER worn a 00 in anything....standard sizes in J.Crew are XS/S or 0/2 for tops and 0/2 for shorts/pants/skirts. The Mirabel in white was available in my normal 0 - it was much too big all over. Large armholes, too full skirt, bodice too long - simply too big. CRAZY. So, be sure to try this on....and be prepared to size down :)

  11. For online shoppers, new cuts noted at the top of this post.

  12. Has anyone bought or tried (or reviewed) the Lace Blouson Dress. I like the idea of a white antiquey lace sundress and it is available in my size but I haven't tried it on. It says shift silouette and I usually like more of an A-line, but the white, which is what I would get, looks like it has a slight A line? Any thoughts anyone. Do you have it/like it, how does it fit? TIA!! I would get the white.

  13. Just got back from my B & M, had to pay my bill. The sale section had a few new items but nothing too remarkable other than a whole new rack of jeans in various faded washes for 19.99-39.99.

Saw the new Marlowe Hobo IRL and it didn't disappoint ... it is not as gigantic as the photo suggests, the color is gorgeous and the leather is thick and luscious. The shoulder strap is quite a bit shorter than I expected, but I love it. Will wait for a markdown, however :)

  14. Lots of sale items in Charleston, SC. Tried on the new mirabel dress (with the straps, not online) and like it. Tried on the rumi, sized down twice, and like it - I would get this one on super markdown. First time trying on the maritime dress and LOVE it in the navy. Hope to get this one next week after I get paid again. :)

New arrivals will be on the floor on Tuesday. I asked my PS to please hold any of the purple ikat that they get.

  16. Ruffles,

Was it the same color as the photo of the Marlow they sent out? I wish they would have offered a % off with this email to cardholders. I agree I will wait for a markdown. Thanks for the info.

  17. Sydneygirl,

I have been wondering about the fit of the lace blouson dress as well. I like both colors actually. I am bigger on bottom than on top :( so I wanted to know about fit before ordering. I was in my one and only store yesterday and the SA told me the stripe blouson dress is the same fit/basic dress as the lace one. Unfortunately, they only had two left in store and neither were anywhere close to my size. Hope someone can help !

  18. OT, sorry,

I contacted customer service because an item I ordered on Monday had not yet shipped out by Thursday. I got the following email: "Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your recent order. I'm happy to help. After reviewing your order, your item has yet to ship, but you did select 3-6 business days as your shipping method. At the latest your order should arrive June 14. If you do not receive your order by then, please respond to this email or give us a call at 1-800-562-0258 so that we can investigate the shipping situation further."

It is now Friday PM and I checked my account on the J. Crew site again and it is still not showing that it has shipped out. I am so very annoyed by this.

    J. Crew, please fix your shipping issues ! I shop J. Crew for your excellet customer service. Please don't disappoint !

  19. @Shekster -
the stripe silk dress fit me all bad. I have to go a size up in pencils and a size down in tops so I think this would be perfect for you if you are smaller on bottom! It is definitely designed for narrower hips/bum! The top was TTS if not bigish for me (I tried on the 10) so I'd need an 8 on the top and a 12 on the bottom in this dress!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Shekster, yes they had 2 of the Marlowe Hobos in the Henna color at the Lake Forest IL store. It's gorgeous.

On another note, I visited a 2nd B & M this afternoon (I know, I have a problem). The markdowns were crazy on some things ... all the embellished flipflops were 9.99, Tisbury bags were 12.99, and there was a 4.99 rack (yes 4.99!) full of Trouper pants and Silk Pocket Tanks.

Maybe that "promo" explanation for last quarter's performance was legit ... I don't think I've ever seen anything for 4.99 before!

  21. In my store there was a lot that was recently marked down and the sale section was big. The Cecilia dress in Casblanca Blue was marked to $99. The White had a 2nd cut to $69.99...I think. Also, both Soiree Skirts were marked to $59.99...I think. There are plenty of Mirabel dresses in the Black and White along with the Mirabel pencil skirt. *La Cantera B&M in San Antonio, TX

New arrivals will be in-store Mon/Tues.

Sydneygirl - I reviewed the Lace Blouson in this post.

  22. I stopped in at the Boca Raton b&m tonight. There was no addt'l percent off sale, but the sale section is expanding and taking up more of the store every time I go in. Ended up buying the No. 2 double serge in bright dahlia marked down to 59.99. The morning mauve color was also marked down. Linen tessa top in retro orange is marked down to 44.99.

There were tons of tees and tanks languishing in the sale section. They are really looking sad on those hangers. It's the same stuff we've all been seeing for months now!! I don't know why they don't do an addt'l 50% or more and just clear it out!

  23. Thanks Stacistaci: I am built like you so I think it will NOT work on me at all. I appreciate the info.
Thanks ruffles for the info about the bag :)

  24. audreybella,
Thanks for your review of the lace blouson dress! It looked fabulous on you.

  25. I was able to visit last evening to make my returns and try on the Mirabel Dress. The size 00 was the best fit for me, but they only had it in faded black, which isn't a great color on me. I actually preferred the version of the dress with the straps in the muslin poppy color but didn't end up getting it. I'll watch for it to go on sale and try to pick it up then.

The sale section was packed full of the usual suspects...tees, tunics, and all the rest of the pieces that continue to linger on the website. The Silk Henley Top in *Dusty Sand* was marked down to $19.99 in the store (still $29.99) online, but the other colors were $39.99 (only $29.99 online). The store was packed with merchandise but nothing stood out as something I just *have to have* right now. The only thing I purchased was a perfect-fit crewneck tee in *athletic orange* for $9.99 as an option to wear with my Goldfield skirt from Anthropologie.

One more thing...they had the Classic Leather Ballet Flats in Poppy in the store and they are so pretty IRL...love! I'm not sure I want to pay full-price for them, but will definitely try to grab them on sale.

  26. No additional markdowns in my small store. Skinny jeans $39.99. Toothpick jeans $29.99. Mixed Stitch Cardigan $29.99. Slim Knit Pant (think comfy sweats) $19.99. Garden Skirt $29.99 (lightweight and lined!). Schoolboy blazers were more than online price. Merino stripe zip cardigan $29.99. Sun hats $19.99. Many pieces of jewelry marked down. Bracelets as low as $9.99. Still MANY perfect shirts, tees, cardis....things that have been there for too long. New items expected on the 16th

  27. I went to my B&M this week before markdowns and tried few full price styles. I bought the Mirabel dress and got it a size down. My regular size was too big on my arm holes and waist. I also bought a leopard print flipflops for $10.
Nothing stood out in the sale section as it was picked over in sizes and things that were just unappealing (i.e. a full rack of v-neck tent like looking t-shirts).

I'm looking for the Dorrie skirts in size 4 in flame? color or dragonfly blue color. If anyone sees this in their stores could you put it on hold for me? TIA!

  28. Going to J.Crew afternoon to make a return of one item and look around quickly. I doubt I will buy anything. (Unless it is at the big Bath and Body Works sale:)Going to two stores and getting to the pool:)

  29. Has anyone tried the Factory Surf Tweed Charter Skirt? How is the fit and look compared to the retail version? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Momoberry - I have seen it and it looked adorable but didn't touch or try it on. I kept walking by the table it was on and it caught my eye every time. My first thought was it looked like it was really nice and I was surprised to see it at the outlet. I'm not much help but thought I would at least share what I know.

  31. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this.

I'm looking for Factory printed poplin skirt or just the plain one. If anyone spots one in a 0 at their store could you let me know?

    My email is binxpine@yahoo.com

  32. MegCrew,
Thank you, this was good to know as I was mostly interested in how the skirt looked. As for the fit, I'm sure I know what will work for me :)Thanks again!

  33. I also stopped by the J.Crew Factory store to see if they had the Factory stripe three-quarter sleeve shirt in the color *Sea Mist* in my size. (These are the shirts I've mentioned before that are very nice quality and extremely flattering.) Anyways, I found one I hadn't seen online that is a grey stripe. I looked at the color code on the tag which says OSH and just realized it must be the *Orchid Shadow* that is actually available online. I would not call the stripes orchid at all and had not considered ordering it due to it's online name, so I'm really pleased that I was able to see it in person. I wore it today with the Goldfield skirt from Anthropologie that I mentioned earlier. Here's the Polyvore of my outfit...6.11.11. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Also, there were 3" shorts in a color very similar to Bright Dahlia for anyone who may be interested. Most of the store was on sale or had an extra percent off, too. Besides the striped perfect shirt I picked up a straw fedora with a navy blue and pink striped band around it which is very cute and decent quality. I don't see it online but hope they'll end up offering it. It would be great to get a decent pic of it for my Polyvore sets. :)

  35. OT: Has anyone tried the Retro dot high-waisted Shelley brief bikini bottoms? Wondering if they are TTS and if they provide good coverage. They seem to be the perfect kind of bikini bottom to someone like me with a thicker waist, but it's hard to tell without trying them on. Any help would be great!

  36. If anyone sees a Schoolboy Blazer in canvas size 8 can you please put it on hold and let me know at markshell@embarqmail.com? I was told after it did not ship for 5 days that I would get it on Tuesday and then with further follow-up I was sent an email today saying they had sold out. Needless to say I am VERY annoyed because it could have popped back up anytime this week. TIA!

  37. Has anyone reviewed the Factory Printed Perfect Shirt in Salt (the large paisley print)? I love the look of it on the website, but I live about 4 hours away from the nearest Crewlet so it may be a while before I can see it IRL. Any input on quality, colors and sizing would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  38. BeyondtheBlue- I bought the factory skirt in salt (paisley) and the pattern is beautiful. It is a very defined paisley (unlike the casbah print that was more watercolory paisley if that makes any sense). There is lots of different colors you can match with it. The background in the skirt is not a bright white it is more of an off white but not cream.

  39. Just one more comment about the Factory perfect shirt in Orchid Shadow. Since realizing that's the color name, I took another look at the shirt and can see a little bit of purple (orchid) undertone to it. It appears to be one of those shades that changes color depending on what you put with it. When paired with the Goldfield skirt it looks grey (the *shadow* portion of the color code) like the flowers in the skirt, when held up next to the top of the Wisteria Halter Dress from Anthro, the stripes take on more of a purple tone. So the color of the stripes will vary depending on what you wear it with. I still think it looks more grey though...that's what it looked like in the store and what I thought it was before I knew there was *orchid* in the color name. :)

  40. Beyondtheblue- I have that one. I can do a quick review wiht pictures for you on my blog today if you want :)

  41. Advice needed! I'm planning for a vacation and have a full shopping cart. What do you think of the lined linen cafe trousers? Do you think they'd be too hot to wear in 85F weather for a few hours? I really want white linen pants but want them opaque. Is the lining going to make it too hot though?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anyone know if they'll be doing extra 30% off sale again soon?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cloaca,
I have a pair of lined white linen pants from Macy's that are very hot in the summer but the lining is a polyester blend. I don't have any JC pants that are lined. If they are lined with cotton or linen you might be fine with them. I would email CS or call them and ask what material is used to line those JC pants. I have to say I have always loved their pants. Hope this helps!

  44. I took my return back to the store and found a couple of items I really liked in the sale section much to my surprise: asymmetrical knit sweater and a lace front sleeves top with little tie at the back of the neck-looked like an online return. Also really liked the snap sleeve tee but the orange color one I wanted had a small hole right in front:(

    ReplyDelete
  45. Appgal, I ordered the Shelleys in masala chai the week before vacation. I ordered down one size since swim is cut so much larger this year, and they were still *slightly* large. The top was HUGE though, so I sent it back since we were leaving the next day. The are definitely full coverage in the back, and the ruching allows you to adjust the waist to your preference. They were super cute, and I plan to reorder them soon! HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Do any of you know what "modern red" looks like in real life. I'm debating the modern red linen sweater but I can't tell if it's more red or orange.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sara- Thanks so much for your input. I love the skirt but don't have much occasion to wear skirts or I would definitely consider getting that as well. You are right, the variety of colors makes it nice to pair with lots of other items. :)

Egyptomaniac- You are so kind to review the shirt on your blog! It was nice seeing how it fit you and the comparison of the shirt vs. the skirt really showed what you were saying about the difference in the vibrancy of the pattern. I really like the shirt on you and I think I am going to try to pick one up ASAP. Thanks again! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cloaca,

I have the modern red scarf and it leans more towards the orange end of the color spectrum in the silk fabric. Don't know if that helps you at all or not.
