J.Crew New Arrivals Spotted

"Thanks!" to Momof2 who spotted an upcoming J.Crew item from WhoWhatWear. The email features a pair of pink pants from J.Crew, which are "perfect for the office, BBQs, or sipping rose somewhere warm..." I have to say the pastel shade does look really pretty for Summer time.

"Thanks!" also to Gem Twin (in this post) who let us know that she spotted a few new arrivals over at Net-a-Porter (click here to shop online), including the Embellished Cotton-Sateen Cropped Pants (112964; $395.00). I still cannot decide whether I like these pants or not. There is something about them...

What are your thoughts on these new arrivals? Are you excited about the upcoming rollout? :)

  1. They look cute. It's interesting that they have the little coin flap pocket. I don't think any of their other pants have that. I think it adds a nice touch.

  3. Those pink pants are just what I have been looking for! Can't wait for them to roll out!

As for the embelished pants . . .seems like a bit much, and very pricey.

Thanks for sharing and welcome back!

  4. I definitely would have worn those embellished pants in 1999.

They look a lot like the embroidered capris I had back then.

  5. I had a long conversation with momoberry about how some of J. Crew's current offerings remind me a lot of what J. Crew offered in the '90s, lots of ditsy florals on long billowy dresses, higher-waisted shorts and pants, and loose-knit oversized sweaters. :)

The embellished capri pants remind me exactly of a few pairs of pants that I still have in my attic from that time period.

I will say one thing in defense of J. Crew, it is timely and current (sort of, lol), AND instead of using man-made materials like they used to (hello, rayon, looking at you), all of their current items are made from breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, and silk.

I won't be indulging in any item that I wore back when I was in high school and college...they loose billowy and high waisted looked terrible on me then and will still now.

Thank goodness J. Crew has other items on offer, like the beyond adorable rowboat dress and the paisley bermuda shorts. Yum.

P.S. Pink pants are pretty cute! Again, not for me, but I can definitely see the appeal.

  7. Hell no to the embellished pants. But the pink ones are kinda cute!

  8. The embellished pants are SO 1999. Ugh. I had a pair just like them from American Eagle and I think they cost $39.50. 10% of the cost of the J.Crew ones. And don't even get me started on how awful cotton sateen is... you have to dry clean pretty much every time you wear them. No thanks.

I do like the pink pants but they don't look much different from the new cafe capri. Maybe more refined and dressy.

  11. Yeah, I'm not feeling either of those pants, unfortunately. The pink ones are giving me flashbacks to the dusty pink pants and jacket I got at First Issue in 1990 (anyone remember that store?) when I was in school. And the embellished capris are taking me back to the late 90's.

  12. I'm not feeling the pants. And the cost for the embroidered ones? Silly.

tiny dancer, you're not alone! The sales of the past few days have been pretty incredible. I've been so discouraged by the quality of JC knits that I'm becoming enamored with Vince.

  13. OT, but I came across something at work the other day that made me think of our happy little JCA family. Of all things, it's a research report by a retail research firm about .... drumroll .... customers being so informed now and doing all their research and catching on to pricing inconsistencies across channels (online vs in store) and geographically (from store to store or city to city). I thought, well, how apropos!

I haven't read the study yet, but I might just have to mail a copy to dear leader when I do. Maybe then he'll get the hint?

  14. I agree with Dina -- I applaud the use of natural fabrics (I think we all know how I feel about synthetics, lol) but stylewise, this stuff just isn't me. And it's not saying J Crew to me either. Which is totally ok, lord knows I have enough to last me beyond the end of time. My wallet and bank account are happily enjoying their current breather!

(Although I did manage to snag the madras popover on popback last week, woot. :D)

  15. Off topic, does anyone know how exchanges work? I received a cardigan that is oversized and I'd like to order the next smaller size. I used the 30% off promo. If I send the original cardigan back and request a smaller size, what happens if it's out of stock? Do they just refund me then?

  16. Re natural fibers, I want more silk/cotton tops, that blend is so fabulous! And more merino cardigans!

  17. @Elizabeth, oooooo nice! But yeah, I know what you mean - J. Crew has been kinda discouraging lately :(

  18. Ahh, a skirt from the Spring 2011 preview finally showed up online, the Floral long swing skirt, but it's $400. It doesn't have the piping or whatever at the bottom of it. I love the styling in the preview picture, nerd girl chic. :)

  19. tamara: You should call J.Crew CS (if you don't have a PS) and ask them to exchange the cardigan for you. They should place the exchange order honoring the extra 30% off price you paid and give you free shipping on it, as well. If they don't have the smaller size in stock, then you will be refunded when you return the sweater you originally purchased.
