J.Crew of Seasons Past: Paris 2007!

As I mentioned previously, I search for images of J.Crew pieces from seasons past to collect in my virtual J.Crew LookBook. So far we have seen some images of 2005-7 (refer to 2007, August 2007, November 2007, Fall 2005, & Holiday 2006).

Today, I thought I would share another set of images found on the The Terrier and Lobster blog (click here) of J.Crew's Paris 2007 catalog. There is a little something for both women and men! Just click on any of the images to view them larger.

Look at all those colors! I also like seeing couples. Looking through the recent catalogs, there are not too many couples. I like to see two women linked arm in arm having a good laugh. I like seeing a gentleman sharing a moment with his lady behind an umbrella. Bring back couples!

In case you are interested, there is a J.Crew Catalog archive (from Shannon's fabulous blog Wardrobe Review) with more images from the iconic J.Crew Paris Catalog of 2007 available too, just click HERE. {yey!}

What are your thoughts on these catalogs from the past? Do you enjoy looking through them for outfit inspirations? Do you find these looks classic (like I do) or do you think they are dated?

  1. Vanessa with the teacup on her head (yellow peacoat) is one of my all-time favorite jcrew images.

  3. This is so devastating because I look at these pages and want to buy so much!! (Compared to current catalogues where I only want to buy one or two items). This only drives home even more what I was thinking to myself when I saw a page of J.Crew's latest pieces/interview with Jenna and the new girl in the Feb. InStyle yesterday-- all the new stuff is overly trendy and so incredible out of line with the J.Crew I love. It is not classic with a twist- it is much more trendy with the occasional classic pieces now. Paris, je t'adore aussi.

  4. It's funny, I look and think, "I love all these clothes and would wear them now!" Then I look closely and see... I own a lot of these clothes! I wore my Sophie Peacoat Sweater just this weekend!

Où elles sont, ne de cest an,
Qu'à ce refrain ne vous remaine:
Mais où sont les neiges d'antan!

    It's snowing here, today, too...

  9. If JC came out with that exact same catalog and those exact same pieces right now, I would go on a splurgefest of happy purchases! Those pieces are colorful, preppy, classic and chic - I love them (and miss them!)

  10. What fun to look at these old catalogs. Thank you Alexis for sharing them with us.

I have quite a few items from that catalog including the Dani peacoat, Library cardi, Jennifer shirtdress and the tulle cascade skirt. I can't read the copy but I think I have that purple mini skirt and the red cardi as well. Missed out on the Anya bag and argyle dress, but I did get an incredibly cute cotton argyle sweater dress from Benetton last year. :^)

Really enjoyed this peek at the past catalog. With the exception of the tulle cascade skirt, which I wore to my wedding rehearsal dinner and a party, I've worn the other items a lot and still do. Love the classic J.Crew!

  11. Love all the images! Vanessa and Anouck are my 2 all-time favorite J.Crew models. Count me in as one who would place a very large order if J.Crew were to offer the pieces from this catalog again.

  12. Love it!
I just did a post on my blog featuring a sample from Holiday 2007: a wool herringbone jacket in that awesome Tomato color.
It takes some time but some real treasures can be found on ebay!

  13. I have so many pieces from this 2007 fall season. I won't even begin to list them all as I own multiples in certain items as well. I still wear them all and they are in great condition:) LOVE.

  14. Oh yes, one of the best years EVER for JCrew. I have quite of few items from this catalog, but I would buy much more, given the chance.

    Thanks for posting these, Alexis!

  15. OOOH ! thank you for posting these pictures of past issues! I have loved J.crew for as long as a could remember...back in the 90's and wish i could locate issues from that time!

  16. Thanks for posting Alexis. Total eye candy and a reprieve from the current grey/taupe/sand/ochre offerings. Oh, and check out DaniBP's post on the ebay find. It's not just the colour/style that's arresting, the old JC had amazing detailing that some newer JCA's haven't seen in their new products.

  17. Now that's the kind of styling that makes me want to buy!

  18. Thanks again for posting these images, Alexis!
I'm also heart broken I hadn't bought much back then (a new baby = less interest in shopping).
Ladies I'm in a desperate search for an asymmetrical pea coat style blazer I saw on eBay but wasn't my size. Would you happen to know the name or style number and the year it came out in? I just don't recall seeing it anywhere.
    Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=130471149881&si=1HO4dkM9e5L6CXnh7lBwrc8WGYE%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

    Thanks so much!

  19. I pray that J.Crew starts a maternity line in the next year!!!!!!!

  20. Jcrewphd, that came out in either Fall 07 or Holiday 07. The same time as the Lexington jackets, which have the same awesome enamel buttons. I never knew it came in the blue color... I have only ever seen it in a flame orange/red color. I hope you can hunt down another one.

  21. look at all those fabulous work appropriate length skirts! i hadn't realized how much i missed their old style before seeing photos of old catalogs.

  22. I absolutely love those photos - and apparently, I did back in 2007, because looking carefully, I see a coat, a dress, and a cardigan/jacket that I own!

  23. Oh, and a necklace!

  24. just adore these! love, love, love.

  25. Em: thanks for letting me know. I also thought it must be similar to the Lexington blazer buttons. Oh, if JC would re-make these old favorites, I would buy them in a heart beat!

  26. Ladies, it's interesting to see the to transition from 07 to 11. The mens' line has slowly evolved while the womens' side has really changed.

When I love back I see so many items I wish I would have picked up. But fashion/style keeps changing and moving forward.

Thanks for sharing the great photos Alexis. The Paris shoot is an all time high for J.Crew stylists and layouts

  27. A lot of it looks very Boden to me. 'Old JC' fans might like some of their offerings.

  28. Oh! Comme j'adore Paris!

Thank you for these lovely photos, Alexis. And what I wouldn't do for some of those pieces. Every time I see that orange/gray sleevless argyle sweater I swoon.

  29. Jcrewphd:

Em is right. It's called the Wool Oxford Jacket and came out in Bright Flame and a blue that I think was called Liberty Blue. I have it and ALWAYS get compliments on it. Good luck finding one.

  30. I wish I owned the Wool Oxford Jacket. It's so different. Love!

I don't think these images are much like Boden is now. Boden has so many wild prints that are cute but that I would never actually wear. I love to look through the Boden catalogs but I have only bought one item that I ended up returning. Something about most of their stuff is just a little "off" and does not work for me. Their new spring collection does have some items that I would like to try out if I had the money, I must admit.

What I like is that they are transparent with reviews on every item, exact measurements, no nonsense copy. Oh and smiling models. Always refreshing.

  31. I miss old j.crew so much. I would buy each and every thing on these pages. Now, off to troll ebay.

  32. nomoneyfun: Thanks for the name of this blazer. I'm kicking myself right now cause there was another one just listed (though a tad small for me) on eBay for a fair price but someone had bought it for BIN.

Oh well, I'm going to be stalking for it. I love the styling so much, and as Em said, it's so different.

I'm assuming it runs true to size based on the measurements. I'd appreciate if you could give me the style number and exact season if you don't mind. (jcrewphd at gmail)
