Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Summer sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visits for me ... I've left the metropolis of DC area B&Ms and my new sole B&M has a consistently pitiful sale selection (which is the only prices I can afford now that I'm back in school!).

I will say has anyone else noticed the sale selection online updating at the most random times? And not even the "big number" of total items updating - but the individually linked items which are available but of course hidden from the main sale page. I've been trying at 7 am EST and getting a few things, but I checked right now (1 am EST) and sure enough the saved links were refreshed too (again, the big number of sale items is not updating even though there is merchandise that has indeed "popped back").

Just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed it! It has driven me to a more severe JC page addition as I click "to check" in the late night/early mornings consistently now!

  2. Yes, I've noticed the same thing about the sale page. I usually have to do a search for a specific item that I am looking to purchase (i.e., hoping for a pop back).

Well, as for this weekend, all I can say is that I won't be going to KOP :(*

    ReplyDelete
  3. I won't be going to my jcrew either. Sorry, but I'm on the 30 day ban from shopping at a store that doesn't believe in treating their customers well. :(

    ReplyDelete
  4. not going this weekend...well maybe...but i got some great jackets/blazers last weekend. when you have a chance check out my page ...i just posted a jcrew dress for a lookbook! xoxo

  5. G,

You are right. So frustrating. I just don't have the time to "mess around with all that either!" That is why I rarely look at jcrew.com sale page anymore. Too random and such a mess still over a year later. I used to check everyday and now I rarely do--once a week. My pocketbook is thanking me. I went from spending about $1,000 per month for two years on average to about $200 at most!

Christy, a ban sounds good but mine would be for other reasons:)

  6. There was a bunch of jewelry pieces that popped up yesterday I would have loved to have...but I had the military boyfriend jacket on hold, which I did end up purchasing last night in the darker green color. I think I've got a bunch of things it will go with. I also picked up some gray Converse from JCP.

I spent WAY too much yesterday, so I spent my evening purging my closet in the hopes to find goodies to take to the resale shop so I can score some cash...although I'm sure I"ll find stuff while I'm there too! I've been finding great things there lately- a lot of J Crew items, some with tags still!

  7. I had been planning to visit, but after stopping in briefly yesterday to make a couple of returns I think I've decided to wait awhile before going back. I've already purchased what I wanted from this rollout, didn't really see anything else that interested me yesterday, and now just want to save $$ for the October rollout that's supposed to be much larger.

  8. No store for me. I may pop into the outlet store just to see what's offered.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Only going to return some Fall items that I can't make work or I were duplicates of something I already have.

  10. I went yesterday and didn't find much I hadn't already seen. I did pick up the merino flutter bow cardigan in the heather aqua and the black vneck slub tee with two large silk rosettes on the shoulder. That should tide me over for a little bit.

I did notice that they are not carrying heavy stocks of the ethereal and maya cardis, which I find odd. Those should be easy sells and there was literally maybe one of each color left.

    ReplyDelete
  11. MCC,
Probably more in the back. Less stock out in front promotes people to think the item is selling quickly and/or they better pick one up before it sells out. Old trick.

  12. RE: sale
I noticed that same thing with shoes I had been watching for. I decided to look it up by name and there they were in EVERY size (except mine, of course!) Hard to believe the site is still f-ed up.

Anyone looking for last years white long sleeve Victoria blouse? Great shirt sz 12 in sale section for $50!

  13. I was at my B&M this week to return some items. The captain tee with bold striped were marked down to $19.99, but they didn't have navy in my size. I ended picking up the melon color. Other than that sale section was pretty sad looking. A lot of bermuda shorts and some new mark downs but nothing caught my eye.

  14. I bought a beautiful new jacket this week that seems to be retail only -- it's called Margot. Black pique wool, compact, cropped, with small patch pockets on the front and gold buttons. Makes jeans look quite elegant!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Just gor a JC delivery!

The Blushed Tweed pencil skirt is simply beautiful. It is so soft, and I love the boucle texture. IMO, the colour palette reads as taupe-y brown (predominantly a camel, cream and dk brown mix), shot through with hits of pale pink and coral threads. It's really lovely. Fits TTS compared to last year's Double Serge wool pencil skirt.

Also got the Wool Twill trousers in "heather latte". A gorgeous pant. The wool is medium weight, super soft, fully lined, perfect for fall, but I'll be wearing these through winter for sure. They're TTS (I got the same size in the pencil skirt as I did in the pant.) One sweet little detail -- on the inside of the waistband, there's a ribbon printed with this, like a dictionary definition: "clever (clev'er), adj. ingenious; having sharp or quick intelligence; bright: "she is a very clever girl."

I thought that was pretty cute!

I'm sad about the Cossette mary jane peeptoes -- I got the 7.5 but turns out I need an 8. I hate having to send stuff back, it's such a pain! But I can't make the smaller size work, I know I'll be in too much pain. But they're really nice shoes, the glazed pecan colour is great for fall.

  16. Hi all...new to posting here. Not planning a visit this weekend as I spent way too much over the last month. From the Fall line I've purchased the Frances cami in slate, Frances stripe tuxedo shirt, cord pencil skirt in graphite, matchstick cords in wisteria, toothpick ankle cords in navy, ocelot and primrose cardis, forever cardi in camel (not sure if I'll keep this one), tiered crystal libretto and jeweled garland necklaces, and the pixie pants. Whew! There are still a few items I'm very intrigued by and would love to purchse: definitely the maya cardi (not sure what color), also the perfect pencil skirt and the navy boyfriend blazer, but not sure I want to deal with the hassle of online ordering just to see if a petite size is a better fit. Has anybody had a chance to try petites in either the boyfriend blazer or perfect pencil skirt? I worry the sleeves may be too short on the jacket.

  17. I saw the grand corsage top on sale for $49 and the short sleeve cream top that looks like last fall's Teagan blouse --

    http://gigisgoneshopping.blogspot.com/2008/12/j-crew-teagan-ruffle-swiss-top-blouse.html

-- is $59. A misc leftover item or two but nothing new in the clearance section.

    ReplyDelete
  18. OMG - I just received the lace minaudiere. It is so pretty. Completely classic and looks like something my grandmother would carry, then the bold "jeweled" clasp makes it completely modern. If anyone else loves to carry clutches, take a second look. Can't wait for my next date night with DH. It was relatively pricey, but the quality and lace seem quite good.

  19. has anyone seen the cutwave dress (# 15193) IRL? i randomly ordered this the other day when i noticed it went on sale...i guess i will find out soon enough what it's like, but wondered if anyone owns this or has tried it on and can comment?

as far as visiting jc this weekend..going to hit up the soho, nyc one, but not planning on purchasing much--i have a few online returns and going to pick up the collier tweed jacket (they're holding my size for me). i think i'm all shopped out for now!

  20. I don't know if I will visit the Grove or Santa Monica. I went to Century City last week and there was nothing there.

  21. I would like to visit my J.Crew at King of Prussia Mall this weekend!

I'll keep everyone posted about the sales.

  22. I'm headed down in the morning to pick up the pointelle cardi that went on sale. Other than that, I am waiting for markdowns on items I want and/or new items.

  23. Hello ladies! I am returning a Pilar dress, plum raisin size xs, (seen here on my blog) unless someone on here would like it. I ended up getting a size small and liking it better than the xs. I'll ship it for $84 ($78+shipping), so you'll end up saving a few bucks. If you're interested, email me at christy.rivers@gmail.com :)

  24. For anyone ordering the Mohair Muffler Scarf (W2008) online, it may not be exactly as pictured. I ordered the bright berry and the color is actually a light peach. The scarf is in a bag marked bright berry but it is not even close. I thought I'd try it anyway and put it on to see if the color worked for me. Not 10 seconds in I was itching like mad and back in the bag it went. Maybe it's me but I always find mohair to be incredibly itchy, no matter how soft. I recall reports last year that this item pilled badly as well, but I thought for $14.99 I might be OK with that. I can confidently say that it did not pill in the 10 seconds of wear.

  25. I visited my B&M today. There wasn't really anything exciting there, and the sale section was pretty bare. I purchased the doggie tee and placed an order on the red phone for the vintage cord pencil skirt in dark aubergine. The skirt is full price so I got free shipping, and luckily I was also able to get the educator discount applied. Just now I placed an order online for the double-serge cotton pencil skirt and the Ikat Monterey skirt, both on sale. I need to stop checking J.Crew because I keep finding things to buy!

  26. Just went yesterday, no must haves, not even tempting.

  27. No trip for me this weekend...although, I got a recent shipment in...

1)Blushed Tweed Pencil Skirt -- LOVE it! The jacket was a little big on me around the waist, but the pencil skirt is gorgeous and feels lovely. It fits TTS as well.

    2) Printed Antique Ruffle Top -- Beautiful and very elegant print -- I wish it came in petite becuase it's just a tag big under the arms (I ordered a 0) I love the print though, so I might keep it and just wear it with a cardigan/jacket.

    3) Cambridge Cable Cardigan in Wine -- Not lovin' it. I usually buy a cable cardigan every year because I love the variety of colors J. Crew offers...but, this year, I'm not a fan of the gold buttons. Especially against the wine color, it draws attention and I just didn't like it.

I also have the Wool Ruffle jacket (in Rosebud) and the Wool Pencil Skirt (in Rosebud) on the way...will let you guys know what I think of those....

  28. just got back from the Thousand Oaks, CA store. I left with the funnelneck cadet sweater in grey (LOVE this!), the whirling ruggles cardigan in the pink, and a falling ruffles tank in the champagne color. Well the tank is being shipped to me - apparently these guys are flying off the shelves!
Question on the tweed pencil skirt - are they sized like the double serge pencil skirts? I tried that on in the store so that I would know my size.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Chanel Fashionista, I took the same size in the Tweed skirt as the Perfect Pencil one. I love the Tweed skirt, the colors are gorgeous and the fabric is lovely. (my only complaint is that it doesn't come in petites, so I need to get it hemmed)

  30. No B&Ms for me this weekend, I am a little shopped out, too, after a few big-ticket purchases from Sept rollout. Sale sections have nothing lately, even for impulse buys! Waiting, and saving $, for October rollout ... does anyone have any news from PS/SAs etc on what October will offer?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey AppGal, would you say to SU in the Pilar dress? Is the jersey quite substantial?

Unfortunately I can't fit an xs or I would buy your dress but I am thinking of ordering this one online.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I went to my b&m this morning. They had a few more new items. My ps said that they're shipping some new items every week for those who like to shop every week. (Like me! :D) I went to purchase the pointelle cardi, but tried on a few things, too. The cotton tuxedo shirt was hysterically funny! It was huge in my normal size - plus it was so long, it was almost a dress! I didn't try sizing down b/c I didn't like it. The long sleeve swirling flowers tee was too tight across the back in my regular size and huge when I sized up. Also, the layers around the neck sticks up at the seam. (I'm not explaining that well, sorry). So, I had this "knot" sticking up on one side of my neck. I don't know if it was just the one I tried on, or if they're all like that. I only noticed it on the size up.

Now, for what I liked. While I love the toothpick, I normally don't like their matchstick jeans. Until today. LOVE the dark rinse wash. I had to size down. I will definitely own these at some point. I like the dream shawl cardi, although it needs something slim underneath. Very soft. I tried on the ls frances and my problem with it is the same as the sleeveless - the inner collar. I love the shirt with it tucked in, but don't want to pay full price for something I'm going to have to alter. So, if it goes on sale, I will definitely buy. I loved the shadow - almost black. It fit TTS.

They also had lots of new necklaces - mainly black accents. And some new stretch bracelets. The shimmering teardrop necklace is on sale for 29.99 in stores, although it's still full price online. And, I bought a headband - silk with rhinestones on one side - my ps hadn't seen it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ruffles - my ps said September 15 for the next rollout.

My ps also said that if the b&m hadn't cleared the event with corporate, that corporate would have shut it down. Not sure if that's what happened, but it's a possibility. Evidently, corporate has to approve of everything that happens at the b&m's.

  34. audreybella, I lust the heels in your picture! Gorgeous.

Ran into the B&M to do a couple returns today and to have a quick looky loo at fall gear. I have had my eye on the pointelle sweater, but the black is actually a dark navy, so I'm disappointed. I like the grey, but I am awash in heather grey to the point that it isn't funny. The colors of the mohair are nice, lots of options, but it's like wearing insulation for me. Too much itch. The sale section was pitiful, even adding men's in with the women's! Slim pickings. A table of leftover corsage tees, capri sandals, and the flower flip flops, a few tees and tanks, and some headbands. Nothing that I haven't seen for the thousandth time except the pointelle sweater, which also looks quite thin and delicate. No buying for me for awhile!

  35. No thanks. I already purchased a few 'must haves'. I'm going to follow FFM's lead and save up for October!!

  36. I placed an order, I caved an took a chance on the cashmere v-neck in the hthr hydrangea color and the streamer henley slub cotton tee.

math teacher: I have the rinsed matchsticks in my shopping cart, do they fit like this years matchstick cords? I am unsure about the size, I called for the measurements and based on the information they gave me I have to size up from my cords, and after reading your comment I am unsure about the size.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ShuLvr: I would say it's more TTS. In the past, I have always sized down in their jersey dresses. The main reason for me sizing back up to my normal size was the length. The xs length was a couple inches above my knees and the size small was right at my knees. Honestly, the fit wasn't that much different. Regarding the fabric, it's definitely more substantial than the summer jersey dresses. It's not too thick though, in my opinion. Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  38. casual-crew - I haven't tried on this year's cord matchsticks. I have tried on other jean matchsticks in the past, and this is the first time I've had to size down. I don't know how much help that is - sorry.

  39. Has anyone seen the Lombard Ruffle cardigan IRL? It hasn't made it to the B&Ms and since it's selling so fast online I ordered the large in guava and the x-large in heather graphite. Would be great to know if anyone has seen it yet :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Just got back from the Beachwood, OH B&M. Mediocre sale section. Tried on a couple things for fit, to buy later when they are on sale. The ankle toothpick cords... are hideous on their own, I think. But, with boots they'd be cute. It just is weird to wear skinny, cropped cords... just something about it.

I was embarassed to buy only a $4.99 navy short sleeved crewneck perfect fit tee. I think that is the least I have ever spent at JCrew!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oops! I tried on the tuxedo tunic, not the shirt. You can kind of tell by looking at the online pic how huge this is. Only the tall could pull this off, unless those shorter than me wear it as a dress. :)

  42. Anyone know what days the website updates and/or what days the website does not update? I think it updates (i.e. pop backs appear) every day except Sundays and Mondays?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jennifer-I just did a review of the Vintage cord pencil skirt in glazed pecan on my blog-LOVE IT! Thanks for indicating that you ordered it from the red phone. I'm going tomorrow and ordering the Graphite-I have to. I'm sure you'll love the skirt. I have the matchstick cords in the auburgine and it's a beautiful color.
    http://gingergirl4242.blogspot.com/

I was at the store Saturday and didn't see anything in the sale section-can barely even call it a "section"! Oh well, I guess it's really too early for the fall sale and too late for summer.

As far as sale updates, I usually check the sales early Saturday mornings before I go to the gym. I find a lot of updates and popbacks then. I'm browsing around 6am CST.

  44. Hi ladies, I'm a new poster, but longtime reader. I made a red phone order for the vintage cord pencil skirt in dark aubergine (yay!). I just wanted to pass along some "news" re: blushed tweed pencil skirt. The website shows all sizes except for size 8 are backordered until October 9. That's not newsworthy, but the nice woman who took my order let me know that it's actually a NEW order (as in, more stock on 10/9). Apparently they can tell on their end whether it's a regular waitlist where they try to guess when they'll get returns versus a new stock order. Anyway, I apologize for the novel, and also if this is old news... but it was new to me! And I'm glad to hear that they will be getting more skirts as it is my #1 lemming at the moment.

  45. I am going to J.Crew just to use my rewards card, but nothing else. I found some great pieces at Ann Taylor this weekend, so I spent my money there instead.

I highly recommend stopping into Ann Taylor if you haven't in a while. They have a 30% off full-price coupon right now, and they have a new designer so the clothes have a whole new look. I wrote a little bit about what I found on my blog. Click here if you to read more :)

  46. I went today and scored some bermuda shorts in a deep mustard yellow for only $20!! Since I live in the south and it is hot here until at least november, I figure these will be great for the transitional season between summer and our actual fall (which is like December)! Anyone got any great shirts to put with these shorts?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Leslie: I have those same mustard shorts, and they are very nice, esp. if you have that color or complementary colors in your wardrobe. In a day or so, I will be posting an outfit I made with those shorts...I used the Havona tank, and it looks really nice all together (and makes the Havona a bit more casual).

I would recommend aqua (see Havona reference), purple (plum raisin), grey, and maybe a brick color (like the mars out right now). I hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Laura I have seen the Lombard cardi in store. They had the gray and a light pink color that is lighter than the guava, not sure what it is called. I thought the cardigan was very cute; only downside is that it is made of the dreaded dream yarn so expect itching (depending on how sensitive your skin is) and pilling.

Lilac cupcake, I have noticed many jc-ish knockoffs at AT and ATL this season...I have gotten a few nice pieces with various promos. I was also in Club Monaco yesterday and they have several embellished cardigans, tops that also seem JC-inspired. I bought a cardigan with chiffon embellishments down the front, and they give 20% student discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ah! I remember the day when I could get JCrew pants for $20 and shorts for $15! One summer they had all their white jeans in two styles for only $10. I bought a lot that day!

    ReplyDelete
  50. After receiving the factory promo email last week, I decided not to wait for busy Labor Day weekend and head over to Woodbury Commons yesterday since it seemed the "sale" had already begun.

Despite buying several items I'm excited to wear, I cannot even begin to express my disappointment with their pricing. When I last visited for the July 4th sale, I walked out feeling accomplished with my $34 jackies, $8 perfect fit tanks and countless accessories priced at $15 or less. Not the case this time around. $90 for factory cashmere? No thank you. I'll do better when this season's cashmere goes on sale, and unlike last season's cashmere, it won't be covered in pills after a few wearings (I'm happy to report I've worn this season's cashmere cardigan 3 times now - still perfect!) All blazers and outerwear started at $178... come again? If I wanted to pay retail, I would have. Last year when these items were new. Next, the skirts... they were running a $10 off skirts promo which I took advantage of, but I was pretty surprised to see all the skirts priced at $69.50 and up. Not a dealbreaker, but not particularly alluring either. I was happy to find the flannel wool mini I loved last year since I dropped 2 sizes and can't fit into my old one, but found it odd that they were pricing it at $69.50... isn't that very close to what I paid on promo when it was new?? (Yes, this is the same skirt that sat in the final sale section at $29.99 for quite some time.) Lastly, the accessories... $25 for last year's florette belts? $50 for some of the necklaces? I just don't get it.

I've purchased many items from the new fall collection and don't mind going full retail price if I love an item - provided I'm shopping in a retail store! But in an outlet where I have to rummage like crazy just to find the one XS or 0 they carry and then pay something resembling last year's retail price? I won't be doing that again.

Sorry for all the ranting, ladies. Can you tell I was displeased with my excursion? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cass, thank you so much for letting me know the cardigan is in the stores! I've been traveling for work and haven't seen them. I'll wait for the two I ordered to arrive (due Wednesday) and return whichever one doesn't work. I am the itchy type so if they are too miserable, they will both go back. Which is okay, I have several items in my cart to exchange them for. I am glad I ordered the guava cashmere cardigan though, I liked that color in the v-neck, although the v-neck sweaters don't work for me.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dara, what a drag! They change the pricing so fast. I made out like a bandit the third week in July and two weeks later all the stuff I bought was like $5 and $10 off. NOT what I would have paid. ITA about retail vs outlet price - I thought a lot of the regular (outlet) prices were really high. Way over what those same things sat around on FS for last year.
