She also shared the following: "I just got home and received the Fall 2009 Lookbook in the mail. It is about 44 pages and looks like a notepad that is ruled like graphing paper. On the inside cover it says Madewell Fall 2009/ Paris in Autumn."
Flipping through the images, I am reminded of an Anthropologie catalog. (Incidentally, if you love the store Anthropologie, you might like the {wonderful} Effortless Anthropologie blog). I have to say that the clothes & layout are very cute & stylish!
I also love the marketing idea of creating a Look Book for Madewell. I wonder if this will be shipped to all customers, or just a select few? (Hint Madewell: Please send me a copy. Pretty please!)
Did you get a copy of the new Look Book? What are your thoughts on the items slated for the upcoming season? Do you like the styles presented? ;)
No Madewell Lookbook or J Crew Lookbook for me. I'm thinking maybe the J Crew Lookbook is still coming. Some of the pieces in it are not available until Oct.
ReplyDeleteEffortless Anthro is awesome!
Why does everything Madewell look used? I guess that's their aesthetic, but if I wanted to wear used-looking clothes I would just shop at salvation army and save a lot of $$$. Not trying to sound snarky, but it just strikes me every time I see their stuff.
ReplyDeleteHmm. What am I missing - what's the connection to Paris? The pics I see look like they're shot in front of a white door or wall ....
ReplyDeletei love their models/photography... i'm excited to be moving back to austin, that has a madewell. i miss it. ordering over the phone isn't the same.
ReplyDeleteThe clothes indeed look used and like things I already have in my closet, including the boots. I don't mind Madewell but have never found anything in the store that was a look I couldn't achieve with items I already own. How many pairs of ripped jeans does one need?
ReplyDeleteObviously going after the anthropologie/free people market. Anthro's shoots are very stylized, though in a different way from JCrew. It makes sense that JC is appealing to a younger market here, since IMO they've decided to target aging boomers with the main label (no offense, ladies).
ReplyDeleteT-shirt, jeans, scarf, boots...t-shirt, jeans, scarf, boots...rinse & repeat.
ReplyDeleteI like the look, but it's hardly new or fresh for fall.

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing visible about Paris in the lookbook. It's kinda weird b/c in the intro they go on about Paris in the autumn. However there are in fact no photos of the city or autumn etc. Just a model or merchandise in a white room. The presentation of the book is nice. When I got it yesterday I was shocked b/c it looked like I had a package. It actually had stamps on it and came from NYC.
ReplyDeleteThey definately have a certain look that they are going for like Cliquot has observed. Oh and don't forget the grandpa sweater..lol
this madewell lookbok reminds me of this jc shoot-- late fall/holiday 2007.
