"Thanks!" to many of you who let us know about J.Crew's most recent email. J.Crew is letting us know that they have added "new styles" to their final sale, both online and in their stores.Has the "final sale" deterred you from shopping? Is this news enticing enough to get you to visit stores and check online more frequently? What items are you most excited about getting? :)
I'm excited to see the bubble necklace on sale for $99! Now if they would give us a 4th of July 20% off, I'd be in heaven! And where did all those Mila tanks come from?

I'm proud to say I have successfully resisted final sale thus far, and think I will be able to continue to do so. I've done some "window shopping," putting stuff in my bag and then taking it out, and haven't had any regrets yet. Jemma Ruby's great post on final sale duds the other day reminded me of all the duds I've gotten stuck with. While it is difficult to resist the $29.99 or $39.99 bargain, I have found that, for me at least, things that have been majorly marked down end up being ill fitting, bad colors, etc. And as others have said, final sale and high prices just don't go together. So no $129.99 FS cardigan for me! Take that, JCrew. And BTW, JC, I'm another one who can't be "retrained" to buy full price, either. Hope others find some great things. A wonderful day to all!

ReplyDeleteI placed a couple of final sale orders with the free ship code this week and if there is a 4th of July discount, likely one more. There are several things I would like to pick up to try and there are things I already have and will give as gifts to F&F who have admired mine. I've never been refused a return of a final sale item, although have settled for a gift card instead of a refund more often than not. I can't give away my secret because we all know what happens when word gets out.

ReplyDeleteI have not bought anything FS, and I will continue to refrain. Like Corry I have "window-shopped" but I just can't pull the trigger when I think about the hassle of FS when it doesn't work out.

Crewbie & kater - I was excited to see the bubbble necklace on sale too but then when I clicked on it, all that was left was gray and it was not on sale. I hate when that happens!!!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, there are a couple of items I would like but without an extra 20% off, can't justify it. I would like the Grecian long v-neck jersey dress but my size is gone.
Nothing on my wish list has been added, but even if it was, I would only buy something I tried on in the store. The final sale is really a deterrent for me.
ReplyDeleteI caved on the crystal bubble necklace because it looks so great on those who had it, but I have been on the straight and narrow for everything else. Whoever gets a palm necklace please post a review because that is on my hit list TBD based on what you ladies think of it!

ReplyDeleteI bought the Collection mica mini with the new price drop! I was ooohing over it when it first came out and then recoiled at the $150 tag. $60 is mucho better.

I bought the fairly expensive ludlow suit 2 weeks ago with the 20% off code. Well, its much cheaper on final sale right now. Thankfully, the very kind CS rep did a one time price adjustment. I'm very happy (since it save me $50).

ReplyDeleteI have been doing the same thing. I am not going to buy final sale. I am window shopping and then not buying. I still get a Jcrew fix but am not stuck with final sale items....and the prices are not that great anyway!
I can resist too. Even if and extra 20 ro 30 pops up I will resist and continue window shopping.
There are a couple of things that I'll get if the inventory gets low or if we get an extra % off. Otherwise, no shopping for me in July (unless it's one of 5 items on my list).
ReplyDeleteWhile I find final sale ridiculous, I'm sort-of OK with it on season-old items, especially when it's an item I've tried on and know the right size. So, I did order a skirt from winter Monday ... and now, of course, am watching ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happening in the order summary indicating it's being processed, etc :-) So I'm not hopeful I'll get it. I do so love how J.Crew takes a week to even get to an order. With Zappos, I'd have had it yesterday.

Mostly for keeping tabs on items I want from j.crew, banana republic, anthropologie, etc so I can keep an eye on their prices (I buy almost everything on sale). ReplyDeleteThe rewards period ended June 30 but the cards take a while to come out....SLOW JCrew! Not until the end of July will we get them. I checked with my online PS just today.

Like Helene, i'm waiting to see for certain whether my stuff actually ships (I have a tracking # but am a little skeptical).

ReplyDeleteI got the new destroyed matchsticks-tried them on in-store and instantly fell in LOVE LOVE LOVE. they are super duper soft and fit like a glove. Used the Free Ship code to get them and the short sleeve cashmere cardigan in natural.

I caved in this morning (I noticed the sale update before the email came in) and bought the palm leaf necklace in metallic rose, finally on sale for $99 and the chandelier necklace, on sale for $49. Only the palm leaf one was marked as final sale but I saw it in store so I know that I'm going to like it. I also got the denim-linen selvedge vintage slim jeans: they were down to $59 (from $175) but not FS! I was curious to try them since they are a catalog-only item and if I happen to like them it's definitively a good deal.
ReplyDeleteI had some gift card credit, so I picked up the dressy jersey ruffle dress in heather ash (which showed up today for $29.99) and the malabar sandals, which I've been eyeing for awhile. The dress was FS (here's hoping the photos represent it accurately and that I'm not mailed a ripped or stained one!) but the shoes are returnable if they don't work. I have a friend getting married in a vineyard here in California in a couple weeks, and it's liable to be 100 or hotter, so no one's expected to go black tie - the dress seemed like it could work for that with those sandals, and then it could be a nice thing to throw in my bag for summer days at the beach that turn into evenings out with beach-crusty hair. My favorite kind of dress. :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the whisper cardigan (item 15139)? I'm intrigued by the heather caramel color. If it weren't for final sale, I would just pull the trigger and try it out. Any comments on this piece would be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I highly recommend the palm leaf necklace. It is such a great statement piece. I got it a while ago in the metallic rose and I've worn it several times since then and always get a ton of compliments.
I'm with La Belle Helene. I buy stuff on final sale from past seasons that I've already tried on/own in a different color. There is still alot of fall/winter stuff lurking in final sale but it doesn't show up unless you search for it. However, I don't see anything I can't live without, for now...

ReplyDeleteBit this morning too. Was able to score a Victoria cami (*hoping* it will ship), mahali dot capris (both of which were noted as Final Sale) and 2 luxe knit tops - the pleated one and pintucked one. Oddly enough these 2 luxe knit tops weren't listed as final sale!

ReplyDeleteI actually made a couple purchases in the swim section on the FS. Oddly enough, only 1 of the 3 pieces I ordered were actually labeled "FINAL SALE"! Is that typical? I checked like 40 times before making my purchase because I was very hesitant to buy a swimsuit on final sale, but yep, it was right.... the two pieces I ordered at $29.99 (the twist front bikini bottoms in oasis green and the wide band solid halter top in oasis green) are returnable. I might do some more digging to see if there are other items that I can return if need be that are scattered in final sale....
