One of J.Crew's new arrivals is being featured in the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine. :)The J.Crew item is a cargo jacket and retails for $125. (Click here to view a larger image.) The magazine suggests to achieve a "casual glam" look by topping "a 20's-style designer skirt with an easy-to-wear flak jacket" like J.Crew's. This is a new item, yet to be released online and is probably an "upcoming Summer" item (that or, I couldn't find it online).
To be honest, I am not super excited about the jacket. The jacket looks just okay in the magazine- and I am not sure how fitted it is in real-life. (My preference is that it's fitted, over boxy.)
What are your thoughts on the new J.Crew jacket (e.g. do you like/ dislike the shape, style)? Do you like cargo jacket look in general? What is your preference fit for jackets (e.g. boxy, fitted)? :)

ReplyDeleteAgree completely. Though I too like brown and gold/brass toned, I'm really tired of both the boxy and swingy trend. Though I love my Peplum Cord from last fall, IMO, nothing beats a classic fitted jacket. That's why I adore my Ecoles, Bellas, and wool Clea!
ReplyDeleteThe jacket part is ok, and seems like a wearable basic but for the buttons. They're too distracting but aren't cute enough to make the jacket a statement. I like the skirt it's paired with, though.

gigiofca - I have the boyfriend military jacket in gray and have worn it a lot. It's soft and comfortable and goes with just about anything. Very easy to care for, throw it in my tote bag and it comes out looking decent. People often ask where I got the "cute jacket". One of my favs ever.
When I saw this in Marie Claire, I thought it was cute before I knew it was JC. Of course, it could be different IRL.

Baybaybay I don't like anything on the page either, too gaudy for my style. But Marie Claire is not where I would go for fashion advice anyway.

ReplyDeleteThough I will say, re: cargo jacket featured in MC, that I have a similarly-cut khaki one from another designer that I purchased several years ago, and I get a lot of use out of it! Especially when traveling or sightseeing -- those cargo pockets really come in handy!

CaptainCrew - The concept of the boyfriend military was really, really cute. The sizing was off. That's why I said it was a mess. People were going down 2 and 3 sizes. ;-)
ReplyDeletenewyork0311 - Just washed & dried a rolling ruffles tank in error. I meant to hang it. Oops. It came out great. No shrinkage. I may have had the dryer on MED, though.
gigiofca - yep, I went down 2 sizes to get the right fit but it is so worth it. Fortunately I got the scoop from this and other blogs as to the sizing before I even got to try it on.
