As many of you have pointed out, J.Crew's website has been updated! I for one am thrilled to see the new changes.
First, the main page (link here) shows various New Arrivals items on rotation. Second, the main pages per department (women|men|crewcuts) also feature their respective new arrivals. Third, the Sale section (link here) has been updated as well with many sale items being lowered in price. (Of course, I am still overly cautious about the website showing proper sale inventory and checking me out properly.)
Also, Naomi & Dawn mentioned in the "Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?" that J.Crew was offering code FREESHIP on their website this morning (around 5-6AM EST) because the site was running slow. I am not sure if that offer still works (e.g. J.Crew took FREESHIP away) or not. But it's worth a try. :)
Are you excited about the update to the website? Are you excited that the Sale section has been updated as well?
Where is that camo-like print tank? I think FFM said she had it on her wish list and saw it in the store in blue as well. I really wanted to see it in the new fall stuff. Am I missing it anywhere?
ReplyDeleteI am happy to finally see some new merchandise...YAY!!! :) As for the sale section update...I'm not thrilled and it cannot be trusted...as I said in the previous post...the CS rep said the website is not updating correctly, there are a multitude of errors, and it shouldn't be trusted...basically...ORDER AT YOUR OWN RISK...so sad, really...there are some good prices, but I won't be buying anything. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sale section was nothing special, and I second Floridamommy on the website -- my order (Candace jacket!) finally shipped, only the tracking number doesn't exist. I think I'm sticking to B&M stores for a while :(
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! I am not going to be very productive at work today. I can't wait to pour over every detail on the website and then to do the same when the catalogs come out. I see a lot of stuff I LOVE!
ReplyDeleteanon @8:10: You are right, the Watercolor Floral Rosette Tank, Item #96101J, available in Aged Cognac and Deep Atlantic, is not showing up for purchase on the new updated website. It is however, shown in many, many pics for other items such as seen HERE with the Herringbone école jacket. You might be able to call it in?
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity I loaded a bunch of things into my cart to see how much I would spend if I could just order everything I want right now. The total came to over $1600. I guess I have some saving to do ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is what the Watercolor in Deep Atlantic looks like, but in a skirt...the rosette tank also comes in this color: CLICK HERE . :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, as I sit here in my Jamie Jacket (for no other reason than to review it for someone in a post from yesterday) it is fantastic to open up to JCrew & not have red blaring at me. I do think everything looks a little more 'luxorious'. Did I see "Mohair"? The only time I owned Mohair is when I had a fluffy greenish/blueish mohair sweater from Express in 1991.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am not at all bothered by the fact I only received the 30% discount & not the 40% discount off my already marked down Jamie Jacket this week. I LOVE IT & you should get one too.
I am interested to try on the Andrea jacket. I think it's cute, but I am afraid that the little pockets on top and big pockets on the bottom will put undesirable emphasis on my pear-ish-ness. Has anyone tried it on?
ReplyDeleteDid you guys notice the "Product Short Desc - Please update at the product level"?
ReplyDeleteWhy in the world couldn't they be able to have NAMES of product updated in time for roll-out of fall merchandise? Also, at least one item's picture & color names aren't in sync.
If JCrew was a bank I'd be yanking my funds OUT! They must really have poor IT oversight, Management issues or something.
Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Andrea Jacket in the store on Wednesday in the yellow color (the only color they had) b/c my fav sa told me it was the cutest new item that they had gotten in. SO CUTE!!!!! I tried on the 0 and it seemed to fit nicely, although I usually take a 2in crew jackets. I am thinking about ordering in the pink color.
Does anyone know if they will give you your teacher's discount on red phone orders when the item is not available in the store?
MJ in VA
OH my googsness I love the dog critter argyle cardigan! So fun! And I am a dog lover so that truly does make me happy. I havent even finished scrolling down the new arrivals yet.
ReplyDeleteDog and argyle though, oh my what a combination!
The sale section looks pretty sparse. They normally have another really fabulous sale in mid agust which goes through at least early september.
OH yay, happy day new arrivals!
Now Jcrew, listen up! I want those city-fit florentine capris to go on sale and I want them on sale now! Ok start working on that for me.
googness= goodness
ReplyDeleteanyone see this message anywhere on the website?
ReplyDelete"Product Short Desc - Please update at the product level"
I am getting it instead of product names.
Ok so this is sad. But the dogs on the RINGSPUN COTTON beaded graphic tee look just like my dog. I miss him. I might buy that at full price for sentimental value. I think they are supposed to be greyhounds... but Pepper was just a mutt and he looked just like that.
ReplyDeleteOh thats the name of it, the tuesday trench, I saw it in the store and I loved it! So great for walking aorund NYC on those in between days!
ReplyDeleteHaha Michele: thats hilarious! Wow! Now I know why we buy everything on sale.
mj: yes, you can get your 15% discount on the red phone. Just have a sa make the call for you and they can verify the discount (that's what I did yesterday). I don't know if they'll take your word for it over the red phone. They should, since they do when we call from home.
ReplyDeleteWho buys the Perfect Fit tees? I found them to be too tight. Anyone have a reason for loving them?
ReplyDeleteAwww.... I'm sorry about your puppy.
ReplyDeleteRach: Normally with the perfect fit tees I go one size up. So last summer I bought a medium. Now this summer a lot of stuff has run really big and I haven't tried them this year but last year it worked really well for me in a medium. Try going one size up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tired memphian. Its ok... I am getting used to him not following me around everywhere... I now understand what peter pan went through when he lost his shawdow.
ReplyDeleteThe Silk tricotine Cecelia dress is perfect for nearly every woman's figure. the neckline is wonderful, the waistline would show off everyone's best features. WTG Jcrew.
But What on earth were they thinking with the Fontaine Gown...I am sorry but it looks like ugly just threw up on my computer screen and spat that out.
Well, I went in the store last night. I tried on the herringbone Fiona and the sales rep (a erally nice male SA) said exactly what I was thinking.....it looks frumpy on. The biggest annoyance with it is the fabric makes the arm/should seam look cheap. Where it connects, it doesn't look right. I think I am going to pass on the wool fionas.
ReplyDeleteI did not see any tartines on the shelf yet. I don't know if I will like that or the merino ruffle cardigan better.
The SA was very excited to tell me that we will be getting the full jewelry line in the Memphis/Germantown store!!! That is so exciting because we haven't had jewelry. No word on whether we'll get shoes again. I hope so.
I have a ton of cute pants for fall and winter but really want some fun shirts. I haven't seen too much so far that does it for me.
FINALLY! Something new to look at! This was the first look at the men's fall collection, and I have to admit that I'm not overly excited with the selection. I do like the new tomato color cashmere sweaters, but I've never been impressed with the quality of their cashmere (pills quickly), so I'll wait patiently for them to go on sale :).
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I tried to use the EXTRA20 code this morning on a pair of reduced shoes, and it did not apply, so I had to call CS and request a manual price adjustment. Make sure to double check that the 20% discount "takes" when you get your order confirmation.
Kevin
blumre: don't the openings at the arm holes get noticeably bigger when you size up in their tee's? I found that to be an issue when I sized-up in a featherweight long sleeve crewneck last year. This year I purchased two Favorite Fit t's. If you buy Perfect Tee & it fit's you perfectly than wouldn't that be your Favorite Tee? haha (amusing myself) Thanks for the reply :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tired memphian. Its ok... I am getting used to him not following me around everywhere... I now understand what peter pan went through when he lost his shawdow.

also the Soft jersey Adelaide dress is fabulous.
I am so happy with the fall line!
Yea, see Rach, I have big boobs so that doesnt bother me... I dont think the arm holes get that much bigger.
ReplyDeleteKevin be sure to review lots of the mens product line for us. I need b-day present ideas for the men in my life (they all have august birthdays).
Tired Memphian: when I was in the store on wednesday I did notice that some of their new stuff looked sloppy. Either there were threads hanging off it or it fit poorly. That is very exciting about your store getting jewelry though!
Also anyone looking for the lobster necklace? Its at the Columbus Circle store in NYC
I also like the
ReplyDeleteSoft jersey Adelaide dress. Wait, am I looking at Gap or JCrew? This model has been doing triple duty: JCrew, Hanes & Gap.
blumre: oh, that's why ;) You see I don't have that problem (unfortunately). Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteFFM; thanks for the item number and the pictures....I am going to get the tank when I get my rewards card.....if/when I do...he he...
ReplyDeleteP.S. FFM; Did you say you tried on this floral tank? If so, how did it fit? I will be on holiday next week and staying near Mall of America so maybe it will be there???
ReplyDeleteI love the new collection. So far I've gotten the Fiona (in orange and red), Andrea jacket (in honey glaze), 2 belle skirts (in butterscotch and rhubarb), floral schoolgirl skirt, Tuesday trech (in navy), watson pant... I think I'm done for a while :)
ReplyDeleterach: I too size up in the perfect fit tees and I don't feel like the arm holes are too big. But, like blumre, I have a large chest, so I cannot wear my normal size. Of course, I can't buy the long sleeve because when I size up, the sleeves are way too long. I love their knit though, it is just the softest.
ReplyDeleteblumre: while I like the look of the Soft jersey Adelaide dress, I worry that it would be shapeless. I always have to size up in their jersey items, so without a waist, I don't know. This is one I would definitely try on, but they didn't have it yesterday in my b&m. Maybe on my next visit, it will be there.
rach - I buy perfect fit tees and I really like them. I buy a medium in all the tops including these and don't have an issue with fit at all. I have short and long sleeve tee's and find that they are perfectly preppy with any of the chinos. I think I am going to (in a few weeks) order the long brewster boots in black and the vintage french terry boat neck in dark cloud. I also love the lulu heels in tulip and the cotton taffeta belle skirt in dark fog or buttercup.
ReplyDeletemath teacher: It could be shapeless. But I actually think the extra weight on the bottom from the ruffles could make it hang nicely. Its one of those things that I would have to try on to be sure.
ReplyDeleteand to echo you. yes I agree the perfect fit tees in the long sleeves dont work at all.
Did anyone see the Wool flannel watercolor floral dress ? Isn't it pretty?
There are still some kinks they need to work out (item names, page titles, etc.), but am I thrilled to see new stuff! Everything seems more expensive, so unfortunately I don't think I will be buying much. But, my birthday is in September, so I will be dropping some hints about the dream cardigan (grey), the boucle mohair Lucille jacket (though I'll need to feel the fabric to be sure if I want it, also wish the buttons were bigger/funkier), the stretch vintage cord skirt (honey glaze), and the perfect patent flat (peacock).
ReplyDeleteHeather: those sound like great hints... and you hint so subtly. LOL yout hints made me laugh... because they sound like my type of hint.
ReplyDeleteHmm, where is all the crazy stuff, like the "berry" cardigan. And when you browse through the Fall Look book, when you click on the picture, it shows you the WRONG items. I can tell the difference between chino and courdoroy (maybe not spell it) thank you very much. And where is that shinny metalic tote bag?
ReplyDeleteFFM - the CS rep really told you that? How sad. I totally agree - order at your own risk.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone remembers, one of my multiple orders that got screwed up over the past month was for the lightweight trouser jean (on sale). I had ordered it on the 10th, was charged on the 16th, and got an email on the 17th saying it was shipped. The tracking # was from a 2007 order to another state. But the CS rep confirmed that everything was ok - they are just using recycled tracking #s. ????
Anyway, when I called a few days ago, they supposedly spoke to the actual person who boxed my jeans, and said not to worry, they were on their way. Yesterday I just happened to check the status online since they hadn't showed yet, and it said RETURNED!!!!! WHAT??? SO I called, just furious. The CS rep said very casually, "well that means the order wasn't available when you ordered it." Like that was no big deal, what was I upset about. I asked him if they were planning on notifying me of this, and he just mumbled something. The kicker is that they hadn't even credited my card back, and never would have if I hadn't called to inquire!!!
I was super excited upon seeing the new fall stuff, but like others will not be buying anytime soon. They don't deserve my business right now.
Has anyone else had an order status that says "Releasable"? Not Realeased, but Releasable... strange.
ReplyDeleteI just finished my quick run-through; now have to go back and look at stuff in more detail.
ReplyDeleteI love the perfect fit Ts (I like a snug fit) and the scoop neck T with the elbow sleeves was the first thing here I knew that I had to have; I will probably buy multiple colors as a bought several of the soft knit scoops in short and long sleeves for spring.
The only other thing I seriously thought about putting in my shoppin bag right now was the Quincy hobo. I've been looking for a long time for a dressier version of the uptown tote, and this fit the bill. The price is also pretty good compared to what I saw at Nordstrom, for example. But I'm not super fond of the colors. I prefer a pure black to a dark gray.
Speaking of colors, I was disappointed to see so little in the chocolate brown range. I know they have to do new stuff, but I like brown.
Now to go through the sale stuff . . .
blumre: Do you realize that Watercolor print is the same one you said looks like Camo in the rossette tank version? I personally think it IS really pretty, and I like the Aged Cognac (green camo), as well as the Deep Atlantic (blue camo). ;) Btw...sorry again about your puppy...I hope you have a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteBeth: Thats horrible! I would ask to speak with a manager and say you were treated very poorly by your rep! That is unacceptable.
ReplyDeleteFFM: I didnt even realize it. You are sharp. I just dont like it in the green is does look a little like camo. The blue is to die for though. And the skirt is so pretty. I actually think the dress is too dressy for most offices but it would be fabulous for a fall wedding or bat mitzvah.
I like the blue watercolor print as well, but sorry- the green watercolor print does look like camo.
ReplyDeleteAnon @8:10: You are more than welcome for the item number and pics...unfortunately it wasn't at my store when I was there this past Wednesday, but I managed to get the new catalog, and that is how I know the item number and available colors...I'm so sorry I can't help you out. It does however remind me a little of the Piper Tank, and I was going to try either a 0 or 2 in that one, so that is what I will try in the Watercolor Rosette, as well. :) Good luck, and have fun on your trip! :)
ReplyDeleteI have the stretch vintage cord mini-skirt in a size 0, I don't remember if it came in petite sizes, but I got mine in-store because it was on sale. The new stretch cord comes in petites, I wonder if I should size up to P2... I hate buying something online then having to return it if it doesn't fit, but they don't have petites in store. Frustrating!
ReplyDeleteblumre,
My boyfriend claims he likes my hints because he never knows what to get me, but I think he does a really good job without them! But, I don't mind helping him out if it gets me something I absolutely want. :)
I like the new stuff but when I added a bunch to my cart, only two things actually ended up in it! How weird is that. And everything that I had left in my cart from earlier this week (including the Jackie cardigan on sale in soft fushia) disappeared and of course I can't find most of it again.
ReplyDeleteI am not going to be ordering again until things seem to be working right...
I see some things that I like in the suiting, particularly the two dresses. Although, ridiculously, the new super 120s dress in violet (which I love) is showing up in the Sale section marked down from $185 to $180??? Oooh, that $5 off is going to make me buy it (not).
ReplyDeleteAnd the new wool gab dress is really cute (I love elbow sleeves!) but it has a terribly low back. To wear to work, I'd have to find an appropriate camisole that didn't look too much like underwear.
Looking at the sale, I see the 120s sleeveless marked down to $129.99 even though it was $37 in stores?
And they put all the old 120s suiting except Abby and the pecil skirt on sale? It doesn't even match the colors of the other stuff.
But I do like that some of the new suiting has a stretch lining. I wear my suits for quite a while and usually the lining is in shreds long before the pants or jacket wear out or become too dated to wear.
I'm sure I will buy something before the free shipping coupon expires but I don't see anything that has to go in my bag today.
And while I'm blathering, just my $.02 on the suiting: there are some pros and cons to the crepe v. the super 120s or wool gab. The crepe is a lint magnet. Mr. Hex violated our household's black cat rule when he took in a stray (fashion tip :-) match your pets to your preferred clothing colors) and the crepe sucks the white hair out of thin air and won't let go. OTOH, especially if your dry cleaners presses very agressively, the 120s and the gab will show shine before the crepe.
I'm more average than ample in "that" area, but I do size up. I love the perfect fit tees and in the summer, I live in the perfect fit tanks (and usually throw on a cardi if going inside where the AC is blasting).
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Tired Mephian and the "frumpy" comment. I'm pretty sure I tried on the same coat yesterday; it was herringbone orange--a lovely color but the cut was awful. I was set on the Tartine sweater, but when I got to the store, I fell in love with the dream sweater. So soft!
The B&M didn't have any jewelry, but I must say the chandelier chain necklace on the website made me laugh. We actually had one of those hanging in our dining room when I was a kid. Don't think I could wear it around my neck tho'. I'm putting the bracelets with the bee, ladybug and squirrel on my hint list, but not thrilled about the barrel beads on the other bracelets. So many items to lust after!
Has anyone tried on the Tartine cardigan in the store? Any comments on fit?
ReplyDeleteNow I am going to have to try on the dream sweaters..... I bought a massive number of trouser fit cords last Feb at 19.99 each and really can't wait to wear them this fall. I need sweaters and tops and have been carefully looking at all of them on the site today. I see lots of navy which is great for me. I agree with the lack of chocolate....I think chocolate can be the perfect color sometimes. I wear it with turquoise jewelry and really love it....
ReplyDeleteSo on my in store dressing room list: dream sweaters, tartine cardies, bella skirt in grey, and the shiny shirts that don't have a description online yet. If it is a sheen as opposed to a full shine, I can see myself loving them.
Did anyone happen to see the coat that's on the home page, the one with the bow at the neck, in the new arrivals section? I looked but didn't see it ... thanks!
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me what the blouse under the Herringbone école jacket is called? Are they selling it? I can't find it on their site anywhere. Thanks!
ReplyDeletejrl: Please see my post listed above at spot number 5...it is about this shirt. :) It is the Watercolor Floral Rosette Tank, and isn't available online right now.
ReplyDeleteblumre: In another instance of us agreeing with each other, I quickly skimmed the "new arrivals" section and only clicked on the ones that REALLY caught my eye (first pass only, of course!). The Cecelia dress was one of them! Love the neckline and sleeves.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, Anthropologie had a similar-ish dress, in a creamy jacquard with a cute ribbon tie at the waist. It was something like $250. I almost bought it but they sold out in my size. :) I think I might have to make sure I get my hands on this Cecelia dress!
Dang it, my finger slipped and I accidentally ordered $800 in stuff. Sigh. ;) Anyway, now that I'm over that guilt (sheesh), amongst other things I ordered the juliet safari mid-heels. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOne glitch that stopped me in my tracks was when I initially looked at my cart and the total was over $2400! I looked closer and it had given me 15 (!!) of one pair of jeans. lol. Hopefully things will arrive as expected. Hope springs eternal and all that.
melanie, that yellow coat is adorable! If you look at it through the lookbook it says that it is available in October (waah!). However, the metallic giraffe day coat ($425) looks identical in structure. Cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, FFM. I was so excited I jumped right to post about it without reading the rest. :-)
ReplyDeleteFFM: I like the Aged Cognac Color too. I think it is a great color for fall. That is the one I would get....and hope to on my trip...I like them both but I think with blond hair the A.C. will be super...esp. for fall in warmer climates:)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for all the great colors this season. I'm especially loving the tees in bright peacock. I have a shirtdress from Banana Republic in a similar color.
ReplyDeleteAs for the perfect fit tees, I wear a size 4/small, and have not had an issue with the shirts being tight when I order them in a small. I'm also pretty small-chested, so that might make a difference.
I'm starting a list of everything so that if I order, I can call it in. I'm kind of wary of ordering online right now especially since the names of some of the clothes aren't even up yet!
FYI: Calling in doesn't guarantee anything...I have equally had as many problems with my orders that way:(
ReplyDeleteAnon @8:10: I hope they have the tank in stores soon! I agree about the Aged Cognac with blonde hair, and I also think the colors really almost "scream" Fall...I think it will be such a versatile piece. The website shows it with several different colors of jackets as well as a cardigan in green, which proves it's versatility. :)
ReplyDeleteI like this set of colors for the most part. Not a fan of the light pinks or the "blanched almond," or whatever they're calling it... kind of remind me of my grandma, no offense to anyone here! I'm sure all you fashionalbe ladies (and gentlemen) can pull off those colors. I do love the vibrant peacock, oranges and yellows, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI also agree about the chocolate brown. I did see that the color is offered in the stretch bootcut cords. I have dark brown hair, pale skin, and green eyes, and it is a very flattering color for me, I almost never wear black anymore!
The Tartine sweaters fit true to size--I wasn't thinking to wear anything other than a cami under it though.
ReplyDeleteHausFra @11:50-I had thought the same thing and was making my list, but...
Anon @11:57- that makes me sad. Between your post and FFM @8:14, I will have to wait for my B&M to have stock. I don't have a burning need for aggravation.
waah. The marigold tank is sold out in my size. Item #96622. It's so lovely with the suiting...I was hoping to get it for work.
As many of you, I too love the watercolor floral tank in aged cognac! FFM, I totally agree with you about its versatility.
ReplyDeleteHere's my question, though: in the catalog it shows the price as being $98. However, when I saw the deep atlantic one in my store, it was $88...so which is it J crew?????
btw, since my store isn't carrying the andrea jacket, I called one about 45 minutes away and they have it and are sending me one! yay! I just hope it doesn't make me look heavy like one of you mentioned. That was a good point about the varied shaped pockets...we'll see.
Also, how's this for pathetic, it's my 10 year wedding anniversary today and my husband wanted to get me some jewelry and I said no, I would rather go buy some stuff at J crew!!!! PATHETIC!!!! :)
Sorry for the long post.
Hi Everyone, I don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but they have the Polka-dot San Telmo in 0,4,6 for $119.99. I saw it when I searched for "jacket," though it doesn't come up on the normal sale site. Anyway just in case anyone's looking for it!
ReplyDeleteTired Memphian: i found the exact same thing with that herringbone fiona jacket. i tried on my usual size and it felt too roomy...and i can't size down any more! it was very boxy and i know what you're saying about the shoulders. they almost puffed up because of the seam and they're not supposed to. and the ruffles around the neck hung too low...it was wierd. the SA agreed that it was a little big... it's too bad because it's a really cute style...it could be a great jacket if it were more fitted. also, i actually did like the material because it was very soft but for the price it is a bit light weight...:)
ReplyDeleteSo now that I've examined the updated website a little more closely, here are a couple of observations:
ReplyDelete1/ Did anyone have problems getting the colors to load on the v-neck cambridge cable sweaters? (Updated: I refreshed the page and it gave me the "Sorry our site is down!") picture. :(
2/ Has anyone seen the Matilda dress in gray up close? I think that is my favorite color of those offered but I don't think I'd want it to be a metallic / shiny gray. Too robot looking, I think. :)
3/ The tulip color (in the Sophia dress, for example) reminds me of the jumpers I had to wear when volunteering at the hospital in high school.
4/ I noticed one gown had elastic at the waist. I don't think I liked that.
5/ I don't like how almost all the shoes are patent leather. :( I must be in the small minority of people who hate it - but I do! I also hate glossy photos, preferring matte finishes. Correlation? :)
And speaking of that correlation, that reminds me on how one day, I realized I like really crispy breakfast food. :) I like my bacon EXTRA crispy, and my biscuits to not be completely soft and dough-y and my hash browns to be crunchy. It was a real moment of enlightenment for me, when I realized things I like had common-ality. ;)
oops! michael=ccbmum my husband was logged in and i'm trying to log him out. doh!!
ReplyDeletesorry to repost, i tried to delete my "michael" post...
sally: I HOPE it's the $88 like in the store! Congrats on the Andrea Jacket...which color did you get? Oh, and I don't think you are pathetic at all wanting to shop J.Crew for your anniversary gift...I would do the exact same thing! :)
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see the return of more twisted placket shirts. I bought one on final sale in May. I thought the shirt was too sheer and the stitching was not very good. I am hoping it survives a trip throught the washing machine. The fabric is delicate. I do like its flower pattern. But I don't think I would buy another one, especially with the increased markup. Alot of the new stuff seems Old Navy in quality, or a ripoff of some high-end designer. Not sure if I will buy any more J. Crew. I miss the old J.Crew when they had unique stuff of quality.
ReplyDeleteI like how the Claire pant is a "capri" with a 28 inch inseam-- that's what the inseam on full-length jcrew petite pants used to be! :P
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on the dream ruffle herringbone and the tartine? My b&m had the herringbone, but not the tartine. I tried the herringbone in my normal size, and it was boxy - not at all flattering. So I ordered the tartine one size smaller (sa suggestion), knowing that I will probably not be able to button it. That's okay with me, I don't mind wearing it open. I just hope I ordered correctly and I don't have to exchange it, especially if my b&m doesn't get it in.
ReplyDeleteAlso, for those who have seen the tartine, are the ruffles as obvious as the pic? The sa thought that they would be hard to see, as they were on the herringbone.
ffm, thanks for having my back on the anniversary thing ;). I got the honey glaze one. I will report back on it as soon as I receive it!
ReplyDeleteI must say that I am a little torn with the Jacinda in the same color. I am a soccer mom of two boys living in the burbs, so I wonder if I would get more mileage out of the jacinda???
I mentioned in another post that I also have my eye on the Wool Tuesday trench in Navy. I don't think it's so fantastic in the cat but in person it was beautiful...Oooh gosh, too many choices I LOVE this collection and I love Fall!!! :)
Sally: CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding anniversary! Ten years together is phenomenal!!! :)
ReplyDeletesally: congrats on the andrea jacket!! and happy anniversary!! i can't think of a better present for youself for surviving 10 years of marriage ;)
ReplyDeletei tried on the andrea jacket in honey glaze and loved it. they didn't have my actual size so i tried the next size up (a bit big) so it's true to size. it's very soft almost like a sweater jacket...i loved the color too. honey glaze hasn't worked for me in the past but in pique it was very classic looking :) i think you will love it! i am planning to get one...i think it's a very chic style!
sally: I think you can TOTALLY do the Andrea Jacket with your lifestyle...I know I would. ;) See how you like the fit of the Andrea and the way it looks on you, and if you don't like it, then go for the Jacinda...it's really pretty, too! They will both look FAB with the Watercolor Tank in Aged Cognac...you are so lucky...I hope to get all three pieces, eventually, at least. ;) Let me know what you think when you get the Andrea. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe one of you all can answer this for me: What's the real color of the deep persimmon? Is it really a more red or is it on the orangey/pink side? In some pictures it looks like a vibrant red with a bit of orange. In some it looks more like the strawberry color from last summer. Can anyone shed some light on this?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
alexis & ccbmum: Thank you! I love having an excuse to get my husband to actually condone the J crew obssesion...even if it is just for one day ;)
ReplyDeleteccbmum: you've made me more excited about the andrea! I was starting to worry since I haven't seen it in person yet. But your description sounds wonderful, just what I was hoping it would be!
sally: congrats on the anniversary and the andrea! I would have tried it on had they had it in my b&m. I'm hoping they get more things in through the next couple of weeks. I love the Jacinda, too, but they didn't have it either. :(
ReplyDeletesally, mathteacher, ccbmum: The Andrea, the Jacinda, and the Watercolor Rosette Tank were the 3 specific items I wanted to see in the store, and my store didn't have any of them...I really hate it when that happens. :(
ReplyDeleteffm: I know I was so disappointed. The ONE thing I really wanted to see in person (okay, there were more than one, but I had decided to get this one if I likd it) was the tartine cardigan. Not one, not in any colors! I was expecting them to at least have a few colors, but no. Oh, well, guess I'll see it when it arrives on my doorstep. :)
ReplyDeleteMy shopping bag from last night is gone. HOW ANNOYING! Now I have to start over.
ReplyDeleteAs for the perfect fit tees, last Christmas, I ordered xsmall and they were tiny. Now the xsmalls in the store fit fine and the smalls have giant arm holes.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteffm: I'm going to follow your suggestion about waiting to see how the andrea works.
ReplyDeletehaus_frau: deep persimmon is more of a deep dark reddish orange.
math teacher: Thank you! I too was in the same situation as you. My store didn't have anything I had my eye on in the cat! They said they are working to fix that but we'll see what happens. I love having a store 5 minutes away from me but what good is it if they don't carry any of the good stuff?!?!
Does anyone know if the web site and the red phone orders all filter back to the same place or are they run separately? I REFUSE to order anything from the website right now but I wonder if ordering from the red phone is any safer?
ReplyDeletei love the look of the jacinda jacket in the catalog. after seeing it online though, i worry about those pleats on the front/side looking wierd...and i'm thinking it might look just like a plain old cardigan after a while...:) the andrea has great detail :)
ReplyDeleteI love the different styles of the dream sweater, the only issue is that I have one from last year and its not as soft as it promises =( Although, I usually wear long sleeve shirts under them anyway. The other issue is that last year I got a dream cardigan from my mom on Christmas and we had to return it because it was big and boxy, not at all like it looked in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the french terry boatneck top at the store yesterday and it was true to size - remember last fall/winter when most of their hoodies and fleece were cut really slim? Not the case this year. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI really loved the Marcella blouse (same hammered silk as the Amelia tank) and the high heel flare jeans. Some of the tops are huge and billowy again (the luxe jersey knits, for example) so I have a feeling the smalls and extra-smalls in those will sell out. I tried the gathered tee (with the ribbon neckline) in an extra small (am typically a 2 in tops, sometimes 0), and it fit in the arms, but the rest of it looked like a tent! I could've probably smuggled out several J.Crew outfits under that shirt!
Sally, thank you! I'm glad it isn't as pink as it shows in some of the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI would choose real jewelry over JCrew any day b/c I can always buy JCrew for myself! (and my husband knows how nuts I am for JCrew.) I don't wear costume jewelry anymore...my husband bought me a pearl and aquamarine bracelet, pearl and diamond ring, and another platinum and diamond butterfly bracelet for our 15 year anniversary on Thurs. It made up for the crappy butterfly bracelet JCrew tried to sell last summer for $100. Alexis knows the one I mean!
ReplyDeleteccbmum: I can see what you mean about the Jacinda...it definitely has more of a Cardigan look to it, whereas the Andrea is much more tailored, and definitely looks more like a jacket. I think the Jacinda will definitely work for more casual outfits, though. I really do NOT like the pic of the model when she has it buttoned up...it looks as if she shrank it in the dryer and decided to wear it anyways...it looks much prettier left undone. My guess is that it will look better on everyday women, than it does on that model. I also think I would rather get it on sale than pay full price, mainly due to it resembling a cardi so much. If I get a cardigan it will be one of the Tartine cardigans with the ruffles. :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 1:19PM: I totally know the butterfly bracelet you are referring to! That was so not worth the $20-30 sale price either. ;)
ReplyDeletehaus_frau,
ReplyDeletePersimmon seems to be similar to bright flame. Red with some orangey tones. I have a shell in flame and my boyfriend and I argue over whether it's red or red-orange. :P
Spiced mustard vs honey glaze: I'm trying to figure out the difference. Seems like the spiced mustard is more olivey, but not as green as the burnished olive. Maybe it's more of a brown undertone that I'm picking up on, not green. The honey glaze definitely seems more yellow.
I wish they would stop changing the names of colors if they are in fact the same ones from previous seasons!
I just got the wonderful Jamie jacket yesterday, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to wear it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHaha Melanie: Great minds do think alike. Its really one of those classic dresses that would flatter any and every woman! Good going Jcrew on that one!
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of the Jacinda jacket. At my office, I have to dress in lawyer drag for part of the year (winter through spring) and can wear casual attire for the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteI really like the sweater jackets because they can be dressy with a skirt and heels or casual with jeans and flats.
Last year I got the black Alice merino, then this summer I did the orange Candace. Tons of compliments on both.
I just wish the Jacinda came in more colors, but it is different enough from the Alice that I could justify both.
Heather, I have a Jackie cardigan in spiced mustard. It's definitely a green shade. It's a green-yellow, with maybe a bit of a brownish tint. The honey glaze seems to be more yellow-brown.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the flame colored clothing! My husband calls my shorts that are bright flame "highlighter orange."
I just got around to looking at some of the new men's stuff, lol. I think I am going to try and float the dark eggplant cashmere sweater over to my boyfriend again. he said he liked the color last winter, if he still likes it, maybe it will be a christmas gift...
ReplyDeleteI also like the wool ties (glen-check and solid grey). I'm thinking of making a metallic grey tweed skirt/dress for a winter wedding, so one of these ties would be a good match for my bf to wear.
the washed tartan scarf is cute! I want one for myself.
Did anyone read the little "inside secret" on the men's opening page? They're going to be taking over the old liquor store in Tribeca (NY) and make it a J.Crew store just for men. How cool is that? I was walking around there the other day and they have the windows covered in white paper with a joke about Madras shorts. I didn't get what is was about until now. Ha!
ReplyDeleteMy husband isn't a real fan of J.Crew clothing only because everytime we go they have such a limited selection for men. Now, I might just get him addicted too!
hi everyone - I went to the mall to buy my fiance a b-day gift. Needless to say I bought myself a gift too. I tried on a lot of the new fall stuff, and wanted to report. I loved and want it all. Which is bad news for my credit card...:)
ReplyDeletehere is what I tried on:
The wool fiona. I LOVED it! I sized down, which got rid of some of the boxiness for me. But I like the boxy silhouette overall, so I'm biased...:) I had a very fitted white t-shirt underneath, and wide leg cuffed khakis and it was a great outfit! I liked the orange color people have been mentioning, but it doesn't suit my skin very well, so I think I will go with the bright rhubarb instead. I didn't get it today, but am seriously contemplating it as a full price purchase.
Belle skirt in dark fog - FAB! Loved loved loved it. I could size down, or go with my normal size, it just hung a little lower on the hips, which I actually like. Going to try and wait for sale on this one, but we'll see.
Andrea jacket in honey glaze. Another LOVE! So cute. I had it on with a fitted white tee, the belle skirt in dark fog, and juliet heels in black patent and it was gorgeous as an outfit. It was really hard not to buy this one either, but I'm going to hold off just because it is so much. Again, I had to size down.
Juliet patent heels. FAB. I bought them. I'm so bad, but they are literally the perfect shoe. Not too high, very very cute. I got them in basic black because they're classic and I can wear forever. But if these puppies go on sale, I will definitely be getting them in the bright peacock and/or orange color.
the only thing I didn't love was the ecole jacket! I didn't have the bulking problem at the chest, I just really didn't like the hook and eye closure. This will definitely be a wait for sale, and then I'll even have to think about it.
Sorry for the long post, but that's my report! It's going to be another expensive fall at jcrew!
There is a Flamenco dot popover blouse in a size 6 on hold for "Alexis" at the KOP store: 610-265-0210!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure who asked for it or in which post, but I was there and they had one left so I put it on hold. It's $35.99 with the extra 40% off. I hope whomever it was is able to get it!
Kater: Are the Juliet Patent Heels comfy? I tend to have a wider foot and am wondering how they will fit.
ReplyDeletetammylee: I have a wider foot too, and often have trouble with jcrew shoes. but I want a half-size up and that really helped. Also, I invested in a pair of shoe stretchers last year, and that really does the trick! I plan on putting them in the stretchers overnight to get a little extra toe room, and then I think they will be perfect.
ReplyDeletehexicon: i absolutely love sweater jackets! they can be worn with everything...i have the alice sweater jacket in black too...it's one of my favorite styles :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Andrea in the Bright Rhubarb in person? Is it pink like the Katie Geranium, or more orangy...I LOVE the jacket, and the Honey Glaze, but I'm afraid it won't work with my coloring...since my store doesn't have them, I cannot try it on to see, either. Any info is greatly appreciated. :)
ReplyDeleteFFM: they definitely didn't have the andrea in the bright rhubarb at the store I went to. But the wool fiona in bright rhubarb is the color I'm considering, and if they're similar, it was a pinky-red. Not really orangey. I would say very close to the Katie in geranium. Also much less "pink" and more red than the way the bright rhubarb looks in the tartine cardigan in the catalog.
ReplyDeleteHello all!
ReplyDeleteOK so I also made a pilgrimage to the store last night to try on as much Fall stuff as I could. I'll try to remember it all and provide some info.
Dream Ruffle Herringbone Cardigan
Loved this! I brought it home. IT is a little short, but i think I could wear it open or closed. I am a 10 or 12 on the bottom, and I guess recently a 8 to 10 on top, and I got the Medium. I like how this is distinctve and also holds its shape well, its not a "limp" fabric, has some heft.
Belle Skirt
Really liked this too and I think it will be great for summer into fall. I actually got the blue color cause I thought it was fun. I am hoping I can get away with wearing with brown boots in the fall? What do you guys think?
Herringbone Fiona
Loved the colors and look of this, but it just wan't right on me--one size too boxy, size down got too short, and still had a square look. I might be into it on sale, but wouldn't pay $200 for not ideal fit on me.
Ecole Jacket
Another one that wasn't good on me. I am sorta "busty" and found the deep V, lapels, and short length made me feel like I was in a "little" coat even though it fit just fine. A friend comically told me "you mean like the circus ringleader?" yes! that was it on me, too small proportionally.
Denim Pencil Skirt
I REALLY liked this, has a cute sexy shape--may be going back for this. Has a little two-vent "kick" to it in back, and great stretch.
Wool Tuesday Trench
Was gorgeous! I had the 10 in the dressing room, and it was too big (might run larger)...but I didn't get the 8 since I was scared to like it too much! IT has a great warm but flexible drapey feel, and the belt was great. I am contemplating the Deep Persimmon color.
There were no new shoes...I really want to try some of these on.
Hope this helps! I love Fall!
ffm: they didn't have the andrea jacket in bright rhubarb when i tried it but the SA brought me the herringbone fiona in bright rhubarb to see the color (herringbone is not quite the same as the plane color though) and i liked it on me while i didn't care for the katie sweater in gerranium on me. it is similar to gerranium but didn't seem to be as light/bright pink as gerranium...maybe a tad more red...so i guess it's like a dark pink?? i hope i haven't confused you!! ;)
ReplyDeletekater: too funny, we have similar descriptions...it's a hard color to describe!! :)
ReplyDeletekater and ccbmum: I think I can imagine the color you are both describing...shoot...I wish the Andrea came in more colors than just those 2...I have the Katie in Geranium, and while I like it...I really don't need a second jacket in a similar color. I really need to be able to try on the Honey Glaze to see if the color will work with my skin tone. It might have to be a "try me...I'm not final sale and I ship for free" purchase, since my store doesn't have it. Thanks for the info and descriptions! :)
ReplyDeleteccbmum: I thought it was funny too that we pretty much had the same description, from the same jacket, within two seconds of each other!
ReplyDeleteffm: I wish andrea came in more colors too! Although I did love the honey glaze, I already have a lot in that color so I understand your dilemma. To be a total enabler though, I think the katie and andrea are VERY different. the andrea is much more of a jacket, would look great with jeans or suit pants, while I think the katie is more casual.
let us know if your store ever gets it in either color!
Does anyone remember the J.Crew sales last year at the beginning of fall when they had merchandise from the previous winter/fall in the sale section? ie, there were coats and sweaters on sale in the beginning of fall, but they were last year's designs? I was hoping they would do that this year - there were a lot of sweaters from last season that were so pretty, and I had my eye on finding a coat on sale that I should have gotten in January.
ReplyDeleteKater: I'm so glad someone else liked the Fiona. :) I was starting to feel so alone, thinking I was the only one who liked it. :)
ReplyDeletemelanie: you are definitely not alone! I loved it - it was so hard to walk away from it! I have a rewards card coming though, and that might really be the purchase I make with it. Especially if it doesn't show up on line soon. Then I'll know I have to snap it up!
ReplyDeleteHexicon or anybody else who has seen the super 120s suiting in store - you said that all of the 120s is in the sale except for the abby jacket and the pencil skirt, have you seen the super 120s 2 or 3 button blazers on sale anywhere? either online or in a store? I'm looking to get my hands on a couple of blazers since i have bought the ludlow trousers and the suiting dresses already....thanks!!!!
ReplyDeletekater: I think we are all really, really good enablers here! ;)
ReplyDeletekater: yea, we must have been working hard at the same time to give an accurate description of "bright rhubarb"...too funny.
ReplyDeleteas for the herringbone fiona...i really do like it and was tempted to go for it but it just didn't fit me well...i wish it did because i think it's a great style and i actually did like the material and everything else :)
FFM: honey glaze is a tough color to wear especially if you are blond. i have medium to dark blond hilights and i like honey glaze on me better when my hilights have grown out a little. skin tone makes a difference too...it definitely is a color that you have to try to see how it works on you because i don't think it's for everyone....and again, i like it better on me in the pique of the andrea than a plain sweater knit. :) i loved the honey glaze andrea when i tried it on in the store and it looked great with the dark jeans i had on...but if i tried it on at home it could be a different story :)
I just made my first fall purchase, which included the cord pencil skirt and lulu heels in dark cloud. i haven't heard many ppl mention liking the lulu shoes but i am totally in love with them! maybe some ppl find the bow too large, and i can understand, but i myself think they are adorable and i am super excited to wear them this fall. i also picked up the Cashmere argyle vest, which i didn't notice in the catalog but thought it would look nice in the fall with a dress shirt under it.
ReplyDeleteis anyone else getting less work done today than they should b/c they keep going back on the site (i know i feel that way)!
I saw the Fiona today and thought it was fabulous - if I hadn't gotten the charcoal Bella last year, would have been totally hot for the Fiona.
ReplyDeleteTried on some of the tees, but goodness, I just can't/won't spend $50 for a cotton tee, I don't care what is on the front... :-)
I may have to spring for the ruffle herringbone cardigan - that was awesome.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletekellyanne: I love the lulu heels too! In the same color and everything! I just am trying to be good, and only got the pair of juliets today because they are a little more practical.
ReplyDeletetrust me though, I'm sure I will cave on the lulus. Especially if a store has them and I try them on. The one I went to today didn't carry them.
and I'm getting NOTHING done today. It's like it's the "jcrew released a new line" holiday or something...
Canvas Fionas showing up online in papaya. If you *want* to chance it, here it is:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~90977/90977.jsp
tiredmemphia: I can't get it to show up for me! it won't let me choose a size. waah.
ReplyDeletekater: if you really want the Fiona then check again in the morning...they had a bunch of them early this morning. :)
ReplyDeletekellyann311: how does the argyle vest fit? I adore it and desparately want it! I hope it doesn't sell out because I just can't buy anything else until the middle of August. Unless, it looks like it's starting to go. :)
ReplyDeleteffm: thanks! I missed them this morning, so was hoping they popped up again now. oh well. maybe the possibility of a fiona will get me out of bed early tomorrow. we'll see!
ReplyDeleteIsn't there someone on here who's been looking for the polka dot san telmo in 12?
ReplyDeletela belle helene: the polka dot san telmo was me. Some popped up this morning so I chanced it and ordered it. we'll see if it really comes!
ReplyDeleteDid you see it somewhere? it probably wouldn't be bad to have a back up if there is one out there. thanks for thinking of me!
FYI Kater: it was ALOT earlier! :)
ReplyDeletekater,
ReplyDeleteI just saw it on the website - final sale, though. Glad to hear you got one :-)
It looks like a fab jacket, but I never got a chance to try one on, so I'm not going to chance one on final sale. J.Crew's sizes, especially in jackets, run all over the place for me - I can go from an 8 to a 12 petite, depending on how the shoulders are cut...
thanks la belle helene! It might be completely and utterly fake, and never come, but I tried! I keep checking my order status like a sociopath though. I'm trying to tell myself that it very well might never show up, but you know how it is!
ReplyDeleteKater,
ReplyDeleteI just tried loading one into my shopping cart, and it says "in stock," so hopefully that means there was one available for you and it'll actually get to you.
I wish items from last fall would magically show up in the sale section ... I'm sure they have some stuff left over still, so put it on line :-)
I like a lot of what I saw in the August catalogue, but isn't the really big fall collection the September catalogue? I have a feeling there'll be a lot more temptations in another month...
kater: I called today as well as checked constantly. She said we should have an email with shipping info by the end of the day Monday if it is going to ship.....
ReplyDeletela belle helene: really? you could get a 12 into your cart? because that size isn't even showing up for me. This sketchiness makes me lose hope...ugh...thanks for the info though, I really appreciate it...
ReplyDeleteI'm also betting things from last year will start showing up again. they always seem to...:)
Kater,
ReplyDeleteThat is odd. I just clicked on the polka dot san telmo on the site, and the sizes available are 0,4,6 and 12. I'm not actually placing an order, so maybe it's just a phantom, but I'm able to place one in my shopping cart just fine, anyway.
Has anyone seen the cloque pencil skirt in person? I wish my store had it - I'd like to try it on, because it kind of appeals to me.
la belle helene: when I go to it, all I can see are the 0, 4 & 6. Is that not the most random thing? This really makes me think I'm not going to end up getting it. Oh well, I tried!
ReplyDeleteKater,
ReplyDeleteThat is just too, too odd. I just checked again, and I still have an option of 0,4,6 and 12. I'm still able to add one to my shopping cart, too...Can you check your order no. on the site to make sure it's at least processing?
la belle helene and kater: I only see size 0, 4, and 6 available on the Polka Dot San Telmo...
ReplyDeletela belle helene: yeah, I've checked it about 250 times today. I even got an order confirmation email. It says it's "open" in the purchase history section and then "released" in the most recent orders section. That conflict is probably not the best sign either.
ReplyDeletethank you for all your help!
goodness, is this ever weird. I am seeing polka dot san telmos in 12 galores ... I wonder what on earth is going on?
ReplyDeleteffm: ok, this is officially the weirdest thing EVER. Are they selling stuff by time zone now or something? WTF? Because I think FFM and I are on the east coast, and la belle is on the west. But I could be wrong...
ReplyDeletethank you for checking too ffm! It makes me feel less nuts that you are getting the same thing!
I agree about the September collection, la belle helene - my birthday is next week and my family is asking me what I want. What I want to say is - can we postpone my birthday for one month? =)
ReplyDeletekater: "and I'm getting NOTHING done today. It's like it's the "jcrew released a new line" holiday or something..." hahaha That is how it feels ;)
ReplyDeleteKater,
ReplyDeleteI don't take those words as negative... I figure "released" means the order is no longer subject to editing, and "open" just means it hasn't shipped yet, which I wouldn't expect - at least in reference to my own order, which I just placed this morning. I hope I'm not wrong about this... :-)
kater: that would be so weird if it was a "time zone" thing...seems almost like the "twilight zone" actually.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually in eastern daylight time zone, too, so it can't be a time-zone thing... look, Kater, try copying and pasting this link http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~90979/90979.jsp
ReplyDeleteand see if that gets you anywhere closer to seeing a size 12 available ....
Katherine,
I remember last year, it was September that had the big fall collection - August was more of a teaser, although August was when my beloved Bella jackets first appeared :-)
la belle helene and kater: I have had an OPEN item on an order from 6/27 that has never shipped. :( It's my Solid Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame and it is still statused as OPEN...
ReplyDeleteRE: Polka-dot San Telmo jacket
ReplyDeleteI only see Sizes 0, 4 & 6 and I'm on the east coast if that matters any.
la belle helene: still nothing, even with that link. why did I think you were west coast??? weird.
ReplyDeleteFFM: I think I'm about to join your open orders club. Oh well, I had to try! I'll keep you guys posted on what happens. You guys are the best "enablers" ever! ;)
off to happy hour to try and stop thinking about polka dotted jackets...
Oh FFM, don't say that.. :-(
ReplyDeleteThat's awful. I hope the Crew has gotten its act together and is shipping out orders now, promptly. I guess I'll remain optimistic and hope that since they seem to have gotten the website glitches under control, and since I ordered all fall merchandise, my order will come through... :-) Hope yours shows up on your doorstep, too, FFM.
la belle helene: I pasted your link & it gave me the "Error 404--Not Found" message page.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you try to add it as a link using HTML? That might work :)
SORRY la belle helene: I'm sure you will have better luck! I'm beginning to think I am just not meant to have that jacket, though I still hold out hope that it will magically appear on my doorstep one day, if it ever manages to escape from the J.Crew warehouse. ;)
ReplyDeleteFYI: one of the reps I spoke with today said the new merchandise is shipping out on time, and it's just the merchandise from the week prior to and after the upgrade that they are still having issues with.
Oops, try the link with all the info in it. Had to break it into three lines, so just make sure it's all in one listing

la belle helene - I didn't receive the August catalog last year but I did get the September, which was chock full of pretty clothes. Since I'm going away the day after my birthday, I may be able to get away with postponing it =)
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, does anyone here own any J.Crew winter coats, specifically their classic peacoat? I'm thinking about getting one this year but I'm not sure about fit/size and how warm they are.
mathteacher: i bought the argyle vest (and the other items mentioned) online, so i can't tell you how it fits yet. i did see it (but didn't try it on) in the store on Weds and it looked like it might run a little big. i can post when i get it, but probably won't be for a week or so. hope that helps!
ReplyDeletekater: i love the juliet heels as well, just couldn't afford both at the same time really (or couldn't justify). what color did you get them in? i think the bright colors are the most "fun" but they are all nice.
ReplyDeleteand i actually love the lulu's so much that i am thinking of getting the flats in a different color. if they ever go on sale, i think i will definitely get another pair. in my opinion, j.crew shoes are the best in style, quality, and comfort of all the similar styled shoe brands i have tried.
la belle helene: followed the link & still only saw the sizes 0, 4, & 6. bizarre
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~90979/90979.jsp
I think the lulus look absolutely fab, I just, unfortunately, cannot wear J.Crew shoes because they don't have enough support for my high arches :-(
ReplyDeleteRach,
ReplyDeleteI wonder why I'm the only who can order it in a 12? That is too funny & odd ... :-)
Sea Glass Piper tank is online, sizes 2, 6, 14
ReplyDeletekatherine and everyone: I actually have a J.Crew siting from channel surfing the other night...it's from QVC, and the L'Occitane Spokeswoman has the Starlet Jacket on in Fushcia and one of the Mosaic Cuff Bracelets, too. I would venture to say that the rest of her outfit is from J.Crew, as well. Here is the link...you need to click on the On Air Presentation to play the video. :)

ReplyDeleteHurrah!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised (not sure why though, these days) at JCrew. If you follow this link
ReplyDeleteJacinda Jacket & look at the second product photo from the left, the shoulder has hanger marks on it. I would just think all items would be perfect for photo's.
I want the Shaylin beaded tank for $400.00 but will never get it. It's in the JCrew Collection where you can view "looks" (Buy This Look). I imagine it's the beads that are on my
ReplyDeleteBeaded Flip-flops that I can't stop staring at in the sunshine.
i'm kind of loving the Bouclé mohair Lucille jacket but that has to be a really tough color to wear...it reminds me of that burnished olive color a few seasons ago...it looked a little pukey (sp) on me :0 i wish this one came in more colors too! :) i'd love to find one in a store to see it in person....
ReplyDelete...some of these colors are very retro 60's and 70's...
ReplyDeleteI must apologize for this morning. I did buy the Perfect Fit tee's this year. Why in the world I confused them with "Favorite Tee's" is beyond me. They were too tight last year but I was able to try them on this year & they fit fine. I quit drinking coffee, about 4 months now, & I'm sure I've lost my 'edge' along with my normal brain capabilities. :}
ReplyDeleterach: maybe you're thinking of gap favorite t's :)
ReplyDeletei actually had to size up this year for the perfect fit t's at jcrew. i think there's a lot of size variation with these t's depending on when they're made. if i see them in the store i have to try on differen't sizes because they all seem to fit differently :)
as for coffee, that's funny because i actually started drinking coffee again this year to keep up with my almost 4 year old...i definitely lose brain capability without it!!
a & hexicon: i visited my local b&m store and used their red phone to call in the Ludlow 120's trousers. i asked the cs rep that the b&m store has the trousers marked differently than online. the cs rep told me that the site was down, but took all my info and will email me when the computer is up. the rep said that the only way i could have the b&m price was to ask one of the sa on the floor to come to the phone and verify the price and the additional 40% promotion that is currently going on. i flagged one down and she was nice enough to verify on her cashier and verbally confirmed the price. i also wanted the Sleeveless 120's dress in any color size 2, but by the time the their computer was up again, there were no more dresses left in my size.
ReplyDeletea: i really think the jacket is on sale as well. what you can do is go to the old catalog, jot down the item number, go to the b&m store and call from the red phone and ask for them to match the price and the additional 40% off as well. i see no reason why the jacket shouldn't be on sale, because the new 120's are called the Durham style.
kellyanne311: that's fine, just let me know when you get it, please. Unless they get it in my b&m, I'll have to order it too. I think it will be cute over a short sleeve shirt and a long sleeve shirt! I now MUST have the vest - I just hope it's still around in a month. Or, I'm going to get in cc trouble. :)
ReplyDeleteccbmum @5:50- I really like the look of the Lucille too, esp. the collar. I just can't say on the color. I will have to see it in person, and who knows when my B&M will have it. :(
ReplyDeleteI love the Hammered Silk tank, I want it in almost every color. Can someone tell me if the Belle skirts are something that will go on sale, or if I should buy it at full price. I would love to wear the Buttercup to Homecoming this year!
ReplyDelete@ A: I might have been confused when I saw that the pinstriped 120s jackets were on sale . . . but?? After the update there is a new web photo for the 120s jacket, but is it possible they're the exact same jacket as last year's and they're not going to mark them down? The Abby hasn't gone down even though it's the only item left in the 120s in the Azul. I am sure they're reading this blog and doing it just to spit us :-)
ReplyDelete@Katherine: I have three J.Crew winter coats. I have a 3/4 length light blue peacoat from 99 that is still in great shape--I wear it often. There are some slighly bare spots on cuffs but I'm amazed how well it's worn. I have an azalea Lady Day coat from fall 2006 and the Agnes (?) bracelet sleeve car coat from in chocolate from last fall.
My $.02: If your climate remotely justifies it, consider the Thinsulate if that is an option. It's not supercold in the winters here but I'm one of those girls who's always freezing, and that limits my Agnes to fall/spring.
Fit is all over the map. My 99 coat is a size 2, still fits great, plenty of room for a jacket. (All my 90s stuff is 2 and still fits but I generally need a 6 now. Hmm.)
Lady Day was extremely skimpy in shoulders, a 6P looks great but is very fitted, no jacket under. Agnes(?) I got a 4 and it's a generous cut.
I think the Lucille looks fab, but I must admit I'm not thrilled by the colors - I don't think spicy mustard looks at all good on me, and I'm not crazy about orange, either. Now, if this came in azalea, oh la la ... :-) Or a pretty violet, too, or charcoal ... :-)
ReplyDeleteLaverte, I really like the hammered-silk tanks, too. The store I was in yesterday didn't have any, unfortunately, which surprised me because it seems like that's an item that would be in all stores, more or less. Perhaps it'll come in at a later date. If you see any or try one on, please share how you think it fits :-)
Lucille in violet would be stunning!
ReplyDeletela Belle helene: I dont live near a store, but if I break down and buy it in one of the 5 colors I want, I will let you guys know when it comes in :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know which skirt this model is wearing for item #94483.
Also, I might be a bit of a nerd but this AM the sale site has 1051 results for the womens section. I added up the numbers beside the first column of options (the ones that include all of the catagories) and that number was 368. Which means that on average only 2.8 of the same item are available. Those are not good odds...
laverte: It's the Silk Taffeta Pop-On Mini seen Here . :)
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene, Lucille in violet or azalea, my, we do think alike! So disappointed that there is no new stuff in azalea--the rhubarb is not a good pink for me. But, IIRC there was not any azalea last fall either, and it came in later in the winter.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the Lucille looks so pretty on the model but I think it would overwhelm me if I wore it.
Thanks Hexicon! I think I'll go with the thinsulate because it gets pretty cold here in NJ during the winter. I think it's only $20 more for extra warmth, not too bad =)
ReplyDeleteHexicon,
ReplyDeleteI know the Bella wool herringbone came out in azalea in August, because that's when I bought it :-)
I think you're right, though, all the other stuff came out more like October and on towards the holidays.
Was it you who loved the peacock print from last fall, too? I'm disappointed they don't have that this fall, either :-( Although the deep atlantic watercolor looks very pretty, I think.
I'd love to try on the Lucille just to see how it fits, but I'm not going to be getting it in yellow or orange.
Hexicon, J.Crew really should hire us as color consultants :-)
LBH, yes, of course you're right about the Bella (and the Lexington came in Azalea too). I guess I was thinking about the cashmere sweaters, where I think the azalea came out closer to Xmas. I will probably regret not snapping up one of the azalea cashmere Ts on sale but I have so many azalea sweaters I couldn't justify it, even though the shell is too short . . . but waists are going to come back up eventually, right?
ReplyDeleteI got the Bella in brown velvet (which looks lovely with the peacock sweater) but couldn't make my mind up quickly enough on the azalea tweed and lost out.
So, right now I'm sitting here trying to decide if I should buy more sale . . . I did a mock checkout and the 20% off code still seems to work . . . .
Hexicon,
ReplyDeleteIf the code still works, I say go for it :-)
Have you gotten any of the new fall merchandise?
LBH,
ReplyDeleteThe 20% still works and I have in my bag 2 cashmere sweaters--chocolate boatneck and azalea T (which they miraculously got back in my size after being sold out). I couldn't stack the 20% with the free shipping, though--it was one or the other.
Update: I just hit the button. I shouldn't be spending the $$ but I know I would regret not getting these sweaters at this price. Last year I made the mistake of pinching pennines and getting the itchy dream instead of cashmere--now I can donate my chocolate dream to Goodwill!
Have not bought any fall stuff yet. I need the Abby jacket to go on sale to complete an outfit, then I will probably get the violet suiting dress and the gab suiting dress later this fall. Ditto some matchstick cords and probably some new jeans. I decided I will have to see the Tartine sweater and the Quincy bag before I buy. On the former I'm concerned that the ruffles are too subtle and the latter I think I will just not be happy with gray.
I am trying to venture out into different colors, and I've had great success this summer with orange, but the golden and rhubarb tones in so many of the fall items are not really very good for me.
How about you? Any fall purchases?
What item no. did you use for azalea cashmere tee? I have been trying to get that for a while...
ReplyDeleteI've ordered the green tweed skirt, plus a dream sweater in heather plum, which looks like a really pretty color. I'll probably end up getting some of the hammered-silk tanks as well, but I'm going to see if they show up in stores, first :-)
Oh this is ridiculous - I just looked at the violet suiting dress you mentioned, Hexicon, and it says regular price $185, select colors $180. Geez, wow, thanks for the $5 break there, J.Crew!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI used 90589. It was sold out for several days in azalea in S and M but I just saw it back for the first time this a.m. I checked just now and azalea is available in all sizes other than XS. Of course, we have to trust them . . .
ReplyDeleteAnd just checked e-mail and got my horoscope:
"You are in a good position to get good deals today -- as long as you're willing to research and haggle! Your good energy should help you save bucks, no matter what you're trying to buy."
So all you Capricorns feel free to go for it!
I just plugged in 90589 and I didn't get a choice of azalea at all. All the colors I saw where the regular-price ones. Stupid site, grrr :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, and that is a hilarious and apt horoscope, Hexicon. Obviously, you are going to have great luck with jcrew today :-)
ReplyDeleteTry going to sale and look under sweaters; for me it showed up halfway down the first page.
ReplyDeletelaverte: i love that hammered silk tank also. i especially love the bright peacock color...almost enough to pay full price for it...i love how that color is layered with the blue cardigan in the catalog...:) they have some t's in that color too...
ReplyDeleteccbmum and laverte: I am loving the Hammered Silk Tanks, as well...I actually did some "window shopping" at the website this morning, and filled my cart with $2500 worth of new merchandise I would like to have so far...the hammered silk tank was in the bag in several of the colors, along with the Andrea, a couple of Tartine Cardigans, the Paintbrush Belle Skirt, the Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat, the Cashmere Argyle Vest, Dream Ruffle Herringbone Cardigan, just to name a few...OH HOW I WISH I COULD REALLY PROCEED TO THE CHECKOUT! ;)
ReplyDeleteFFM: lol...i know if i did that it would be a pretty big bill too!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you all have noticed, but during the checkout the screen doesn't show which items are Final Sale like it used to...now all of the items appear as if they are a regular purchase, and don't show if they are truly a final sale or not...that seems as if it could end up being a little bit deceiving...
ReplyDeletejcrewmommy: Just called my Orlando store and they are still having 40% off, but the SA said they have already sent back most of the "good" stuff...all that's left is some T's, chinos, flops...the everyday stuff. ;)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that the SA at my store also said to keep an eye out for the items they had returned to start showing up online in the next few weeks...maybe we will get another big online sale soon, and hopefully the website and shipping issues will be solved by then, as well...hope springs eternal, as they say... ;)
ReplyDeleteThat should probably have read: "Hope Springs Eternal", as the saying goes...instead of "as they say"... :)
ReplyDeleteOk...so I'm procrastinating on doing laundry by combing the website for who knows what...anyways...I have noticed that items show as available and allow you to put them in the cart when they are NOT really available...the website does not inform you the item is sold out until you hit the checkout button, and then it says it is not available and has been removed from your shopping bag...just a little tip to think about when purchasing online now, so you don't get your hopes up just to find out it isn't really there. Be sure to try checking out to make sure it really is available. :)
ReplyDeleteffm: you are cracking me up with your window shopping cart because mine right now is the exact same price! It is full of belle skirts, lulu peep toes, juliet patent heels, two necklaces, the andrea jacket, the adelaide dress, a crewneck tartine, cafe capris, watson pants - you name it, it's in there. And it doesn't have the astrid jacket or the wool fiona yet since they aren't online. So that's another $500. Can you image if we really clicked "continue to check out" right now...;)
