J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Everlane review.
I ordered the A-line denim shorts in both colors. Two sizes. The darker denim with the raw edge fit but only the smaller size of the powder blue came and they ran smaller. I didn’t like how the leg on the raw edge one fit, but even in the smaller size I liked the shape of the leg on the lighter denim so I’m waiting for the bigger sizes to come back next week. For me the waist fit but everything in between was really tight and even though it’s all cotton and will give a bit I know enough to know they were too tight.

Everlane does have a few cute tops out. I’m trying to stick with all cotton—I have enough poly shirts—but I’m looking at what’s in my closet and where I might need a short sleeve, etc.

I do like the overalls which are cotton canvas but I’m not sure they will be the combo of flattering and comfortable I want or if I will look ridiculous. My 23 year old daughter approves but I’m still thinking about them.

    1. Thank you for the reviews, Suz. I received the cotton jersey barrel pant. I kept the small and will return the XS. The pant is somewhere between a PJ and sweatpants, but lighter. Its high waisted with a wide elastic band. Works best with cropped tops. The length is 1-1.5 inches above my ankle and it stretches out during day. I have worn them every single day since I received them. They also work for yoga. Washes well and I air dried in dryer.

    2. Kikigirl I was wondering! would you wear them for errands or are they basically at home pants?

    3. Yes surely you can. The canvas aren’t see through. I wore them to walk dog around block with cropped tee and Sophie black sweater blazer and converse. Looked cute.

    4. Suz, I just tried them on with a black crop tank and chambray shirt that I tied on the waist. I think it looked cute. My mother called it “ashram chic”. We just finished this docu on Netflix called Wild West Country or something like that based on an ashram in California. A lot of devotees were wearing barrel burgundy or white pants like these ☺️

  2. Lame sale for JCrew 40 off! But actually fantastic, saving money. I was waiting for 60 off considering holiday weekend. But all good as I need nothing! Have a good day all!!!

    1. Agreed. Maybe later in the week they will increase the discount. I am liking some of the puff sleeve short sleeve cotton tops. I have an older one but it’s poly.

    2. Same I like the stripe yellow puff sleeve and one of the liberty ones! But they full price! Lol

    3. You took the words right out of my mouth! I have been spending elsewhere on bigger ticket shoes and bags and am glad to keep my money.

  3. Anyone shopping Boden lately? I have my eye on a couple dresses (two summer weddings coming up that had been postponed) and linen shirts. Boden just looks fresher, more cheerful, and more J Crew than J Crew to me lately. I don’t buy a lot in the summer as I find my needs are simpler, though like Cheri I have splurged on shoes. I’ve had too many summers when my fantasy life purchases still had the tags on in October.

    3. I haven't been shopping Boden but I've definitely been browsing. Their prints are so pretty lately - definitely looks more like JC in the past. I'm glad they are moving away from graphic Marimekko-esque prints. I've been loving their hookups (which they call coords). I wish they use more cotton instead of poly blends though.

  4. Yes, to Boden. It seems less mums this spring. I've been waiting for a cotton print sweater in a bright multi-palm print for six weeks and see a lot of dresses I'd like to try. They don't seem to have cut the quality in the last few years as much as some other brands. Like you, I need summer clothes less than fall.

  5. Has anyone tried the current ballet flat - AV959. It's hard to get sizing right when reviews are all over the place as to sizing. I'm a pretty consistent size 10 (all my JC loafers are 10), but I bought a pair of cheap leather ballet flats off amazon (hangs head in shame) in a 10 and toe area was horribly cramped and uncomfortable. At least I can send them back for free, unlike JC.

    1. No, but I tried an unstructured pair in gold a few years ago and can only wear them as slippers. And barely even that.
I had evie flats that I found more wearable.
I have several pairs of everlane day gloves which are very comfortable to me. The vamp is higher so it’s a different look but one of the first times I wore them I walked .9 miles (hills!) around the block and was fine.

    2. thanks Suz, I'd wondered if the new ones were not as nice as the Evie. I've been looking at the everlane day glove since it first came out, but have yet to try a pair, I probably should - I do like the higher vamp. All my shoes are sneakers, loafers and oxfords. Been wanting a simple pair of flats for summer to go with skirts and summer pants.

    3. I've been wearing the Bennett flats, but only for house shoes. They are extremely comfortable, but have a very high vamp. With the thin flexible sole they are great indoors, but don't know how they'd last on the street.
