  1. I think people have written before about the high rise wide leg trousers in leopard AQ617, but I couldn't find the past posts. Are they a pass? I'm very short so I would have to hem them which I would not mind. They seem quite shiny and pleated which is giving me pause. I wore a lot of pleated pants in the early 90's. When flat front pants became the default, I shook my head at the fact that I had worn pleated pants for years. Now, I cannot believe that I am looking at pleated pants again.

    1. Pretty sure those are the ones that PBanos got awhile back and likes.

    2. I think they are nice and well worth the $9.99 price tag. I didn’t need to hem at 5’3” but they are full length not cropped. The fabric is a nice weight and I took my regular size 6. There is an elastic backed waist which makes them very comfortable. I didn’t really notice the pleats being a problem because I wore a sweater out over them and did not tuck in. I did not find the legs to be wide at all. I posted a pic on my Instagram @shoppingcelle if you scroll back to March the 5th. HTH

    3. Yes @Toronto Modern, I am a fan of these pants. Not at FP, which was high for poly. But totally at the very low sale price. Leopard goes in and out of style, but I like it.

I don't find the pleats particularly noticeable, but if the fit were snug that might be different. I've worn with a tucked thin sweater and a belt. I went with my 'usual' 4 and they are comfortably loose everywhere but not oversized. I have a smaller waist, flatter abdomen and big backside and thighs. I think a loose fit is appropriate for this style pant.

They fit me ankle length at 5'7". Since the ankle is tapered (these are not a true wide leg, despite the product info) that works fine. I can wear them with booties or flats, sneakers and a t will work now that warmer weather is here.

I do think think they are shiny or cheap looking. I will avoid shiny belts, stiletto heels and tight tops that veer into Peg Bundy style! I actually like the feel of the fabric, and the full lining. Plus, washable. I like the actual pant a bit better than the model shot. I gifted three pair and all like them.

    5. Thanks, everyone! As always, I appreciate how generous everyone is with their time here. Those pants are $132.99 Cdn on the Canadian J Crew website, but are $9.99 US on the US website with the current discount.

I had to laugh at the Peg Bundy reference. Leopard always looks so amazing on others, but I am always worried that I am channeling Edith Prickley.

    6. Shopping celle - I love the mix of new and older J Crew items in your outfits. The navy Tippi and light blue shirt make the leopard pants look very modern and elegant. Very inspiring.

    8. I have the pants, and I bought them for $19.99 and thought they were worth it. So definitely at $9.99.
I am 5'1 and I had to hem them up by 1.5 inches, basically to where the lining hits inside. They looked sloppy on me as a wide legged pant that was too long. They are comfy, since they're poly and lined.
As for the Peggy Bundy reference, I'm not the biggest fan of leopard outside of pajamas and bedsheets (I used to hoard the Ralph Lauren aragon leopard bedding) but I am OK wearing these as long as I keep the rest of the outfit simple. I paired with a white fisherman sweater, and also with a JC marigold cashmere sweater, and black boots with a minor heel. If I wore flats, I'd definitely feel like I'm wearing PJ pants out but only because I actually have leopard PJ pants that are also elastic waisted and wide leg!
