J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

  This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Tried the Camille shrunken sweater blazer (AW687) in heather sand. Good fit in shoulders and sleeve length in my usual size M (I'm 5'10"), I liked the weight and feel of the material - I don't mind that there is a bit of poly in the blend - if it's done right I feel like that can make the fabric more smooth and durable (look at those poly items from the 70s that still look new, haha). What I didn't like was the tacky gold plastic button in the front and the placement of the button -- too low for my preference I like my blazers to button up a bit higher at/above the waist and this hit me in a weird spot -- just not flattering on me so I'm returning it.
    Also tried the slouchy boyfriend chino (AV407) these are definitely a relaxed fit - in my usual 28T they were loosening up within just a few minutes of trying them on and started gapping at the waist. Also I'd call these high rise, rather than the "midrise" of the description. A wider leg style than I am used to after years of slim/cropped pants but decided to keep them as I love the green color I ordered - a deep saturated army green, I tried them with my black cashmere tee and black loafer mules (with the pants cuffed up), love it. Hope they keep their color after washing.

  2. i tried Slim boyfriend chino pant (Item AV254): i bought my "usual" size 26 (which seems to not be so usual lately... did everything kind of get a little bigger?) it was pretty large on me and i wish i had a 25 to compare BUT as it stands, overall too large and a little hippy on me (like the material sticks out at the hips). but my biggest issue was the material. it's extremely light-weight and kind of that cotton poplin feeling that some of the button-down shirts have. i didn't like it at all.

  3. Thank you for the reviews Miss JR and Julie. I’m curious of the Dalton Blazer. Reminds me of schoolboy.

    I noticed tortoise bracelets in different colors. I thought tortoise is mainly the brown color with shading like the actual shell. I haven’t seen blue and pink tortoises .

    I am on my third bracelet. The acrylic piece will fall off the metal part. If you lucky and catch it you can glue it back using superglue. Just make sure not to overdo the gluing as I did the first time and glued the clasp shut 😂

  4. Hey everyone. I received the embellished cashmere sweater (Carrie-esque with the large flower) and the ratti pj tops in both patterns.

    The sweater runs short on me and my flower came completely deformed. It did not at all look like a flower and neither I nor my husband could figure out how to reshape it to a flower. So weird. This could have been a big hit with me but it’s a total fail and a return.

    The ratti pj tops are interesting. The patterns are beautiful. I ordered up a size which was the wrong call. They are a bit low cut on me. I initially tried them with wide leg cropped jeans and that was a really bad silhouette! Worked a bit better with distressed jeans and I could see them with a pleated midi. I’ll return and consider ordering my usual size.

    1. Thanks for the reviews @liztriden

      I can see how that flower could get smooshed. I did a searh on organza flowers, and they do exist. Try silk organza flowers on Etsy. So maybe just find one in a good color for a sweater you already own.

    2. oooo, a blog I like, the directrice, she just recently wore a Carrie-esque giant silk flower pin:

    3. speaking of JC on social media, I super love Ina on IG: inawonderland5 I think she is a SA in an Atlanta JC. She reminds of old school JC that I loved, and actually still love (since I have so many old pieces). She's like Alexa; JC just looks great on her.
