J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Help! My husband “helped” with laundry and shrunk some things. Anybody had luck with stretching stuff back to life? They’re all 100% cotton.

    1. Ok, soak them in a sink with slightly warm water & hair conditioner. Rinse out. Then squeeze out (no twisting) and roll up in towels to remove water. Lay flat stretched out to proper shape to dry. You can weight or pin down to hold the right shape/size.

  2. OT but thought this was interesting (JCrew has in the past told me to keep things that I try to return back to them due to errors): Amazon, Walmart Tell Consumers to Skip Returns of Unwanted Items
In some cases, it’s cheaper for the retailers to refund the purchase price and let customers keep or donate the products

    1. Amazon did that once when they sent me a wrong item that only cost a couple of dollars. But that was an error, not just a straight return. Though of course they did not ask for proof that I received the wrong item. I expect this policy would lead to serial returners trying to game the system.

    2. @eeps I have had this happen 2 times with JCrew when my items were not delivered (they disappeared in Mail Innovations). I received a credit reordered items only to have original orders delivered months later. I was pleased Jcrew gave me a credit and I did not have to return the original order. Amazon has also given me credit and told me not to return items several times. I hope people don’t take advantage.

  3. Review: hopefully tomorrow I’ll have more!
    Polartec® sherpa fleece pocket pullover
    Item: AS082
    Size: SMALL
This is nicer than I expected. The outside is almost like a sweater, not typical polartec. The size small is very generous in size, I tried it over a tank and thin merino fitted sweater and I have room, plus the zipper is so long it makes it easier to get off than some others I’ve had. The front pocket is big. I wish there were side pockets only because I’m used to that but otherwise I’m very pleased.

    1. Think the fabric it is like the one I got for my husband. His is great and has washed well. I don't put in the dryer.

    2. I’ll look at the Men’s. It looks like a sporty brand I’ve seen but I don’t wear that and can’t remember what I’m thinking of. Maybe Patagonia? I try not to put them in the dryer, though my Everlane ones have held up perfectly.

    3. PBanos you’re right and the men’s has a much better description, exactly like I said, it’s like a sweater on the outside. I don’t usually dress like this but it would look great over my black and white Buffalo check flannel.
Quick search shows LLBEAN uses a similar fleece called sweater fleece.

    4. Yes, he has had sweater fleece from LLBean, but this one is as nice if not nicer. Better than the Eddie Bauer one as well.

Collection going-out blazer in Italian jacquard
    Item AQ238
Beautiful, fits perfectly in my current blazer size. Feels a bit more conservative than my usual style. Works over boyfriend jeans proportionally. I think I need to play with it.

Wide-leg pant in palm tree jacquard
    Item: AQ776
Tried three sizes of these pants and they all fit. I’m going to steam them to see which look the best. They are comfortable, look like vintage pajama pants but in a cool way. It’s really too bad they didn’t do a matching top of some kind, although that would feel really pajama-y. I’m tempted to keep two sizes. Not sure if this material will stretch. These will work year round. Note the piping is more of a warm ivory/champagne color. I’m going to try these with an ivory sweater to dress down for now indoors.

Shrunken blazer in black Stewart tartan
    Item AT689 and pants
Tall Hayden pant in black Stewart tartan bi-stretch wool
    Item AT589
Hayden pant in black Stewart tartan bi-stretch wool
    Item AT587
I sized up In the blazer and it’s a little loose but ok. I wanted to be able to wear it over a turtleneck.
Anyone who is considering the pants, unless you’re shorter than 5’4” I’d suggest the tall version. The regular is just an odd length, at least on me. I sized up in the pants because this cut (from previous styles that were similar) seems to run tight on my thighs. The 2Tall is a little loose around the waist but otherwise not skin tight elsewhere unlike the 0/0tall. The pants are lined and nicely made. The suit itself is fun and festive. It won’t be a wardrobe staple but fun to wear over the holidays. This is me trying to beat the boredom in my closet.
