J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. New arrivals are so juvenile... When i saw the first 3-4 on my cell web browser, i wanted to check if i opened girls' new arrivals by mistake rather than women's... I do like Edie Parker colab - bright colors, summer feel. However, this collection would have been perfect in early June, not in second half of July. And lack of model photos is killing me. For instance, a sweater dress AP209 is interesting, but without proper photos it is hard to tell the way it will drape. A jacket AM710 also caught my eye. It looks boxy and oversized, yet in description it says "fitted". Once again, without model pics it is impossible to tell how it will look IRL.

    2. I like the sweatshirt in Edie Parker in the green but it looks very pale in the photo. I love the lime earrings and ordered them. I had no idea who Edie Parker is until I googled the name and I suffered sticker shock with handbags and other items.

    3. I love how lime earrings are styled on a model shot with a tiny zirconia earring beside it (it made me wish the earrings were actually made this way for a more whimsical feel). But yes, this collection is interesting (and a sticker shock on the original Edie Parkers - oh, my!)

    4. I agree with what Anonymous said. You can't see the backs of things, and the descriptions are lacking in detail. It does seem a bit late to introduce these items. Next week is the end of July already! The absurdity for me (and probably others) is that I have nowhere to wear nice things. Okay, I don't go to the grocery looking like a slob, but I don't seem to be able to go anywhere else. These are dreary times.

    5. I agree. Cute items from the Edie Parker Collab but it is too late in the season. I was hoping for some fall transition items with fall colors in summer weight fabrics. I for one am ready to get rid of summer heat and long for fall.
As for the lack of model shots: send a box of new styles to a blogger to try on & post pics of the fit. The pics could then be curated by Jcrew so they would have editorial control. They could also encourage store staff to either try on or place looks on a mannequin. No outside model or photographer needed. At least it would give us some idea what things look like. The world has a whole lot bigger problems right now but wanted to offer some positive suggestions:)

    6. @ShoppingCelle, great idea. You’re certainly correct about larger problems but it’s also nice to have a distraction if possible. Stay safe and happy!

    7. I also thought I was looking at crew cuts..not women's new arrivals

  2. The Ratti Linen Safari print sweater tees arrived with the pink elephant. Gorgeous!!! The original I ordered was pretty but was missing the pink elephant so a big hug of gratitude to my VPS for hiring them down and to the distribution center team that went to the trouble to pull.

    2. @liztriden, Liz you will love it and I sure it will look beautiful on you. I ordered the popover as well. Oh the pink elephant:)

  3. It would be nice if I could share a review from my 7/5 order but I still haven’t received most of it.

The pull on pants with surplus pockets came in a size up. The fit is still a bit awkward but they’re lightweight and comfortable and not sweats. That’s all I wanted them for. I’m wearing the drapey shiny satin face linen shorts today. Paired them with the sequin palm tree muscle tee from a few years ago, feeling like if I’m gonna sparkle I might as well go all out. Again I don’t think the fit is great but they’re ok, not too tight or short for me.

  4. Weird, I received three 'label created' notices from UPS for my home address from J Crew. I don't have any items ordered except one shipping to South Carolina, not shipping to me at home. Should be interesting, I will have to monitor my credit card.

    1. @pbanos, do so. I have been double charged with my Jcrew Card as well as my AMEX as I have them stored in my account profile. Waiting for a response from the Jcrew side. I’m so fed up with Comenity I have a massive headache. They’re morons. Good luck to you with your issues

  5. I wanted to love the new stuff....but to be honest, like previous posters said, I expected early fall transitional stuff. For a lot of college kids, school shopping begins NOW. Shocking this stuff came out so late. The Edie Parker collaboration isn’t my cup of tea, but I appreciate the effort. This would have been an awesome Memorial Day rollout.

    1. How is it shocking? In case you missed the memo, there is a global pandemic. Cut the crew some slack!

  6. Like many of you, I'm not impressed by the new rollout. I liked Edie Parker handbags a few years ago when they were a bit trendy within certain tongie-in-cheek NYC/Hamptons circles and I like fruit motifs but not a fan of photo-realistic screenprints. I also agree the new rollout feels late (colors, fabrics, styles) and I wonder if it's because factory production and logistics were delayed by the pandemic in China and South Asia, so these products only recently arrived to the warehouse. But even pandemic-related delays aside, I'm not particularly wowed by the styles and color choices. I was hoping Chris Benz would inject brighter colors, whimsy and more energy into JC. Hoping he's more inspired by fall.

    2. I was wondering about Chris Benz’ designs, did he design these summer rollouts? I wonder if some items were cut or scaled back? I personally loved the rollout that had the Ratti regatta and sail prints with lobster items. I thought it was promising and expected to see more preppy rollouts come out. The past two rollouts have been pretty blah IMO and not very cohesive.

  7. @eeps, agree. I can’t even begin to fathom the effect COVID has had on logistics globally. This has affected all retailers not just the crew. There must be warehouses full of unsold summer merchandise in addition to fall/winter items. I was told by my VPS there will be a launch about August 1st or so. This will include early fall items. Don’t quote me or her on the August release date:)

    2. @jan, you’re welcome but I just found once again the mini launch for fall will be August 3 and the full launch for fall August 18. Apologies but as I posted do t quote e:)

  8. Here’s a wish hoping that Chris Benz might have added, sequins on more blouses, tees, jeans, and sweaters. More great whimsical graphics and bright colors.

    1. I'm a sequin fan too. I sent my sister in law and stepdaughter the sleeveless sequin top when the price was $10. Fun!

Glad you got the pink elephant, 'cos we all like to see pink elephants sometimes.

  9. @pbanos, thanks I ordered all of the sequin pieces at cheap prices and fortunately was able to return. They were so heavy I felt like Julius Caesar😂 I’m happy that many of you enjoy them and if not passed them on to some grateful rainbow warriors recipients!
