This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I returned 4 packages almost a month ago, and I still haven't received any email confirmation of my returns. I understand that they're probably waiting 2 weeks until they process them, but a month is a bit extreme. I had returned things from COS and they processed the package as soon as they received it. How can other stores return items via mail so quickly while J.Crew can't?

    3. I just posted on another thread how mine have been sitting since 4/25. They must be listening, haha, I just got an email that one of the two items were processed. Let's see how long it takes the second item to get processed. Fran, sounds like others have had luck reaching out to CS for assistance.

    4. @eeps, I think some of the packages were delivered at beginning of April and on the last week of April after being in the mail for 2 weeks.

    5. @Anne - The Fab Life, I will probably have to reach out to them. Thank you!

  2. UGH and here's my vent - I was told the return shipping would be waived and it was not.

  3. J Crew did cover the return shipping from Canada.

  4. promo for a mth for Canada has been a 25% off...would appreciate it if they gave us something closer to what the US customers get.

    1. I second that! The price diff due to promos has been insanely high.

  5. I placed an order today - lovely 50% off, educator's discount. I was happy with the price until later when I check the invoice and the order history and see that NO DISCOUNTS were applied. I was charged the full amount! I chat with CS online and get a generic cut-n-paste response "adjustment only on full price, no adjustment or additional discounts". Finally, after mentioning "unauthorized charges" and "credit card dispute", I was able to have the price adjusted to what it should have been in the first place. So, beware! And check your email order confirmations (especially if you are shopping in the early morning hours).

  6. I’m eyeing AC441. Short sleeve Mockneck top in satin backed crepe. In black it’s 25.99 and 50% off. But it’s similar to a puff sleeve top I got a few years ago. Price is fine and I like the neckline. Does anyone have it and can report?

However, I see a lot of pricing games. Namely the zip fleece that has the contrasting square pocket. It was recently $36 or something before discount and today it’s $73? I don’t like that at all and it makes me lose confidence in purchasing an item unless I’ve been watching it for awhile.

    1. Suz I have this top in navy. I'm mostly an 8 up top these days and a medium was good for me. It's a little narrow in the shoulders if I remember (it's been so long since I've worn "real" clothes lol). The only weird thing is that the front pleated part hangs like a tie or scarf would even though it's still connected to the blouse so I found it looked much better tucked in. It's machine washable which was nice although just peeking at it in my closet I'm reminded that one of the neck buttons is falling off after one wash :/ I can mend it but still. I would consider the black at that price though.

    2. I would have to wear it tucked—I assumed XS would be the right choice. My sister said she has in pink and white and needs to return the pink. It’s not a need although I love a high neckline—I have the sleeveless tie neck in lace (new) and solid black which I’ve worn often AND the crinkly sleeveless with the little ruffle...solid black and a black floral. Hmm. I’ll have to look closely at the pic since I obviously do not need it at all! Lol

    3. I see what you mean when I see how it’s untucked in pink on the model. The neck also doesn’t really seem high. I’m reevaluating. I might be able to get a similar look tying a silk scarf over my puff sleeve shirt.

    4. That's why I think there should be a 'Recently Increased' filter! I bought that fleece in Navy when it was under $20 with discount. It's boxy and short, I got my usual "S" and that's roomy. The sleeves are long enough. It's very soft and good for pre-post workout. I was able to get rid of my old fleece that sheds and pills.

    5. @pbanos, agree with you on the pricing. Maybe this is part of their new reorganization plan:) I’m in the waiting mode to see what direction the promos and pricing head for items I’m considering

    6. i was about to place an order this morning but held back bc of the pricing games. i wasn’t confident i would be getting the best price and neither item was anything i need.

  7. Ended up calling CS because my one return for a pair of jeans ordered in early March was refunded with a gift card in addition to charging me the return label. No email about the other item in the order. CS was very nice about refunding to my card and waiving the fee but said I'd have to wait for the sweater I returned to be processed. Not in the mood to argue, I'm sure these CS people are dealing with enough. It still baffles me that items sent in the same package get processed days apart.

    1. I feel the same way every time I’ve had an issue. I feel bad for CS here and Everlane. People on social media have been so brutal.
I agree with your frustration though.

    2. yeah... me too... any time i contact CS i try to be extra nice and not pushy... they have a crappy job right now. usually i say something like "i understand the delays, just was hoping for an update"

  8. There are a handful of new items on the site today. A few skirts (both in a rainbow pattern) and a few dresses (again with a rainbow pattern). The dresses appeal to me more and if the weather my way was warmer I might order one. Appears like we won’t have warmer temps for at least a few more weeks though so I’ll wait a bit.

I have also sent back a package a few weeks ago with 2 items. I haven’t received any notification as of yet. I had a couple of orders that were sittting waiting to be shipped for nearly 3 weeks. Kinda crazy but trying my best to have patience. Especially excited about the sweater blazer in mint to arrive - will be a great WFH piece.

  9. Any thoughts on the collection silk flying lobster blouse? Has anyone else purchased it. I posted my thoughts last week.

    1. I did not buy it. I'm a fan of bright colors, but not this particular combination. The black lobster sweater is much cuter.

    4. @jan, I hope you like it. It’s such a pretty dress. As I mentioned on another thread I wasn’t happy with the blouse. It was dark and the quality wasn’t good. Disappointed because the other colors are so pretty. Again, hope you like it and it works for you. Wear it in good health.

    5. Thank you, Lynn! That’s very sweet! I will report back after I receive the dress which will still be a while. I hope that you’re keeping well. I was thinking of you the other day, we were supposed to go to Florida soon and my kids are so disappointed that it’s canceled (along with their sports and everything else of course). I wish I could see that beautiful ocean.

  10. I do happen to like bright colors but that dark blue had killed it for me. I just love the cashmere one we both commented on. Have a great afternoon

  11. They seem to have gotten really lazy w/ item images. I just ordered two pairs of the tie-waist seaside pants (item AN013) on sale, but there's no picture of the back; I wanted to see what the back pockets look like before purchase. I'm interested in the V-back dress in micro meadow print (item AP135), but again, no back picture. Given that the V-back is an apparent design focus of this item - it's in the name! - you'd think they'd include a picture!
