  1. I just happened to see Mygoddy's comment about her leather moto jacket instore purchase...Great score! I wonder if I can get the leather leggins instore using the promo? They are rarely on promo online (my ongoing vent)

  2. Sooooo it's nearing the end of September and I still haven't used my birthday code... And since I can't use it with any other code, I guess I'm getting new socks?

    1. I can’t believe they won’t allow you to combine it. That really stinks. My birthday is in dec and I get screwed with that. As if growing up getting one “big” gift wasn’t bad enough...

    2. Three pairs of socks is what I spent my November birthday gift on. I did call afterwards and request the promo code to be applied by phone and last year at least, they were happy to oblige me.

    3. the birthday code is just dumb.

i can't combine it with other codes.
i can't use it on an item that's not eligible for a promo.
i can't buy a gift card with it.

so it's basically forcing me to buy socks or a tank top with it.

    5. Miss JR, this happened with my sister, too. She had to call to get them to apply the birthday code. It's absolutely ridiculous that you can't combine with a promo code. Why does J Crew make shopping so hard??!!!

  3. I visited yesterday for a return. I went right up to the register. I was told jewelry was 30 percent off. Nothing else. Don’t they realize we shop online? Sale section was same old, same old.
I walked through quickly but nothing really caught my eye.

Except...pleated skirts are everywhere, including at Jcrew, yet the only place I’ve seen black is super lux brands or junky cheap ones. Why? (Note, I did find one at Nordstrom most likely from a previous season and I’ll report back.)

    1. I’ve been lucky shopping in “my” JCrew I always ask will they honor the online price and so far they’ve always said yes.

    2. They most likely would if I asked, I just find it deceptive.

  4. Canadian prices are alot higher this season than last yr. example is the excursion vest...but it is included in the 40% today.
    - not loving any of the coats or purses .
seems like when the bring back certain pieces yr after yr ..they are not the ones I wish they would re issue.

  5. Suz has, totally agree! I want a black pleated midi. Why did JC make another navy skirt? I bought the maroon color to see how it looks/fits but it won’t ship til October it said.

    1. I saw that! Banana has a red one (some stores had it when I looked online.) I was tempted to look at it but I know it would be much harder for me to wear/style and since it’s already different than my usual the best way for me to pull it off with confidence is for it to be black.

  6. I was looking at the leopard sweater dress, but of course the Tall sizes are already sold out because the regular length is too short. Probably for the best - "everyone" is doing animal prints this fall, so I can just sit that out.

    1. Agreed. I feel like we’ve seen leopard cardigans for years but now this fall it’s “the thing.” Leopard and other animal prints are something you either love, or don’t. It can easily cross a line. I won’t be buying a leopard cardigan but I love my leopard coat, leopard shoes, leopard scarf and belts. I just typically only wear one at a time.

    2. I have a terrific Ann Taylor wool jaquard jacket/cardigan from two years ago that I noticed for $10 on clearance. I recall the model photos were unflattering, and quite unfair to the sweater - but maybe that's why it made it to final clearance! I also have leopard shoes and a belt, but you're quite right about wearing one at a time. Oh, also leopard pj's from J Crew!

    3. I'm a fan of leopard too and decided to add a couple of pieces for fall. Both were sale items. Picked up leopard bomber sweater that was part of Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but sold out. I picked it up as a popback at 40% off (don't think J Crew carried it) and the Saturday sneakers in leopard calf hair w/glitter details for 60% off @ Nordstrom. Really happy with both of them.

    4. I like those sneakers Tara! I bought the leopard kiltie oxfords last winter and even though they’re not sneakers they made me think twice before buying the sneakers, although at 60 off I might take the plunge!

  7. I recently wrote a review on the silk Cheetah easy pants, I pointed out the negatives (really thin fabric), fit in what I thought was a nice way & gave 2 stars because the print was pretty Jcrew emailed me & said they wouldn’t post my review because it was too negative WHAT!? now they don’t want honest feedback? Has this ever happened to y’all?

    1. That actually happened with me before with Madewell. It was for a pair of coveralls and I just honestly described why they didn't fit. Really made me think about all the positive reviews we see.

    2. Same happened to me. What’s the point of the review of they filter them. Lol

    3. Seriously??! Now we can’t trust reviews on the site anymore either?? What the heck!

  8. How annoying is it that there are exclusions for promos!? When Mickey was CEO, I can't recall when there were exclusions for promo use.

Also, I went into a Madewell store to return something without the price tag attached (thought I was going to keep it [yup, not very smart!]). It was never worn, but the manager told me they would make an exception and I needed to have price tags attached next time I return something. It has never been an issue at Madewell and J.Crew before (this was 2nd time). I just can't...

    1. Third party merch used to be excluded from promos. But there are a lot more exclusions now for JC’s own merch the logic for which I don’t understand.

    2. Oh, yes! Now I remember about promo exclusions for third party merchandise.

I don't understand it either. There are a few things I actually want to get, but it's not worth the price without a promo since their quality hasn't improved.
