Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. OMG I literally just came on here to post that Madewell had some new markdowns and an extra 20% off...and I used my Amex to place the order of over $100 I made! Hmmm...may have to reorder...
    Thank you!

    1. Sorry about the raised, and dashed, hope Cheri! I usually use the offers to get a gift card (must read the fine print for exclusions!).

    2. 3ppm no problem at all! I'm happy with my purchases - new to sale coveralls I wanted that were just marked down and an extra 20% off, and a popback of a blouse I liked for $24 after discount. Can't complain this time :)
Gift card is a great idea!

  3. Stopped in at BR and Gap today. Both had some amazing deals on kill-price items — $5 velvet pants at Gap, $10 jeans and a sequinned dress at BR. Nothing worked for me in my size, but someone will luck out! The 50% off clearance continues at Gap, it’s hit and miss with online returns and sizing, but the deals have been good enough to keep me checking in each week.

I also went into Talbots for the first time in years. There were definitely some Crew-type pieces there, including a Scenic Village Shift Dress, Embroidered Panel Tank, and the Gingham Audrey Shell. I don’t know how their cuts/sizing compare, but I would certainly believe any of those pieces were J.Crew if I saw them outside of the store.

    1. Talbots runs very wide and boxy. I love some of their stuff but cannot wear any of it. They have given new meaning to vanity sizing. I used to be a 2 in Talbots. Now I can't wear a 0P.

    2. Thanks for the sizing info. I don’t need anything so didn’t bother trying anything on, but good to know if I do.

  4. Any Cole Haan aficionados here? I've heard their dress shoes are very comfy. Also, Rag&Bone denim ... Is it really all that?

    2. Thank you Dana. That's good to know since I pretty much avoid heels (super painful, plus I live in NY and walk a lot, both to and AT work).

  5. My Madewell order of coveralls and a button down already shipped. Shipped same day as ordered. Ordered Wednesday, due to arrive Saturday. Bravo, Madewell!

  6. Similar shipping story from Brooks Brothers, bought my husband a bunch of shirts on Monday when they were running their 40%/4+ offer, and they’ve all arrived. Today is THURSDAY. And most of them arrived yesterday! I about fell out of my chair when I saw the FedEx man walking up my driveway. Side note, this was complimentary ground shipping with a $250 spend. I can’t get over it!
