Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Holy popbacks, Batman!

From Friday's thread: Taking a JC shopping break for the beginning of 2019, so I cashed everything in on the reversible Liberty puffer coat, the Liberty puffer scarf (love the review that said it was a full-on Lenny Kravitz scarf!), and a pair of heart socks for Valentine's Day. After BIGGERSALE, my 25% off code, and $50 off $100 card the total came to about $50. JC botched my last batch of returns so it's time to take some time off, but I'll always visit JCA. Happy and healthy 2019, all!

    1. Wow! That order belongs in the JCA Hall of Fame!

Envy is not a pretty emotion, but I am very envious of the fact that American customers can stack coupons and promotions :-)

I keep telling myself it's time to take a break. The key is not to look, but FOMO then makes me look and then the prices are so cheap that even with the dreaded Final Sale I can't say no. Today - $13 sandals?! $13 velvet tank (and the old silk blend one at that)?! $12 ruched bandeau swimsuit?!

    2. @TorontoModern Yes, the key really is not to look. I took a break from JCrew this spring/summer and unfortunately that meant taking a break from JCA as well. When I see everyone talking about their latest score and great deals I get sucked in and start buying, or at the very least go down the rabbit hole of obsessively scrolling through the website. I try to use Stylebook to remind myself I truly have enough (more than!), and if I miss the latest great deal, there will always be another, and another. My closet can’t bear any more great deals.

    3. I agree that the key is totally avoiding temptation, but the FOMO is strong and I am weak. 😔 I used up my last extra 25% off code this morning, so it’s time for my semi-ban to begin and decluttering, selling and donating to continue. I added a few old kitchen appliances to my donation bags last night and now my trunk is overflowing.

    4. Hi shopgrrl - love your line "My closet can't bear any more great deals". So true. My problem is that I started working in the early 90's and I remember paying $400 for a reasonable blazer (Anne Klein, Emmanuel Ungaro, Ellen Tracey - before they diluted the brands). So when I see J Crew blazers in 2017 costing $60 it's really hard to pull back. I remember reading somewhere that an average family used to pay something like 10 percent of their income for clothing before fast fashion put downward prices on prices and the average family now spends something like 3 to 5 percent.

I think I need to think in terms of items, rather than dollars - so instead of getting multiple items for $200, I should get one or two items and just stop.

      But it is soo hard...

  2. 3500+ in the sales sectio at 650 am! Wow! I almost gave up on checking for popbacks since I haven’t found anything worthy in over a year but this morning I scored a popback I’ve been waiting 2 years to find. Only wish was that all the great Drake popbacks are in my size. I finally have used up my last 25% promo and I am done - the JC shopping ban begins tomorrow. Happy new year everyone!

    2. Some oldies in there for sure! Two in particular came up in my size: Drake’s Bird of Paradise shirt, and the Evie raffia ballet flats (were those 2016 or 2017?). I didn’t make any purchases but interesting to see and I hope other JCAs find some most-wanted items. I also noted small price increases on other 2018 items that I’ve been stalking. Why they increase prices on items that have been on clearance for a month or two and not moved is baffling to me (Buffalo Check Shirt Jacket increased from $79.99 CAD to $110.99 CAD, really?).

    3. I desperately want that Birds of Paradise shirt as that's one of my unicorns for 3 years now (basically since it came out and sold out in my size like lightning) and I own the matching the Gemmas. I am still thinking about getting it even though it's a 12 and I'm a 4. I mean, the reviews say it runs small...

  3. Yup...I had the worst insomnia thanks to two glasses of red wine with dinner and was up most of the night...around 5am I watched as the sale numbers grew. I was going to wait until tomorrow but when I was able to get the cap toe boots in black in a 9 (size up from the size I got in the snakeskin, which just fit) I jumped on it.
Who knows what will ship, but my scores:
the Sadie suede boots in redwood (perfect with the Parke overcoat in the same color from last winter and will look great with leopard too)
The black CAPTOE boots since I love the slightly more feminine look over the black CAPTOE boots I got last winter, will sell or give these to a daughter
Leather studded skinny belt (most of my black belts are too loose for high waisted clothes)
The men's destination merino hoodie sweater in black for myself and my husband.

After the promo, extra 25%, rewards and a $50 credit my total was $76!!

I actually had to stop myself from other things, scarves, boiled wool jackets, sneakers, etc.

    1. Also, my suspicion is that when this promo is over some of the prices may increase even if the discount

    2. ...is higher. I've noticed a few items have increased in price.

    3. I ordered the black captoe boots last week and am really looking forward to them since my current booties are in dire need of replacement. My experience with JC boots is that they're narrow in the toe area, so I ordered a half size up. What size did you get?

      Delete
    4. No. not ordering. did take quick peak though. then told myself....why look? this is the next hurdle for me.came over here...and I think I am envious of ours (with the card perks/extra discounts and rewards..that Canada doesn't get) so this made me mad again at J Crew.
+full disclosure....final sale is usually the main reason I never shop during these big sale section updates.

    5. EEPS, I had tried the snakeskin ones on in store and they felt loose so I got the 8.5. They must have been stretched out in store because the 8.5 just fits, though I'm sure they'll give. I got the black in the 9 so they'll fit with socks.

    9. to modern. just remember final sale. that is all it takes to say NO. imo

    10. @Suz Has - I love your snakeskin boots! They weren’t even on my radar until I saw your photo on Instagram, but I admit that I’ve been stalking them. Alas, I didn’t manage to snag a popback in my size.

  4. I got cap toe boots last week for $41 after discounts they due to arrive later this week. I also got the Sherpa boots.... with $25 rewards they were $68.... also picked up a cashmere hoodie form my mom for $40... and cashmere cardigans for $15... I only had one 25% coupon...( ugh)... this morning I picked up a cashmere sweater in pink $37 since I needed a replacement and liberty reversible puffer for $80.... it’s been on my list( I had a birthday gift card)....
also received the thick cords pants and blazer.... although it seems really nice I can’t make it work...(got butted down by my teenager...lol).... I am keeping the grey stripe easy pants and the plaid Cameron’s.... they are great!!

  5. Also, I had an excellent interaction with CS. I hand washed 3 cashmere sweaters in laundress shampoo ( 2 pink ones and one from this year grey with navy ties), the navy blead on itself and my fave pink sweaters( one was Italian cashmere t shirt and one was with buttons in back). They were able to process my returns and give me gift cards to my email within an hour. I was very happy!!
    Happy new year all!!

    2. @ Kate, The Laundress detergents make dyes bleed like nothing else. I recommend keeping all items separate when hand washing until dry.

      Happy New Year!

      Delete
    3. I usually do wash separate but the 3 seemed like a light color...( yes, feel I f-up in this one)... any other detergents? I always laundress and laid out on towel... However cashmere should not bleed.... lol
      Thanks all for your help!!!

    4. Hi, ladies. I've been using "forever new" powder for my cashmere. But I have only put similar colors together (e.g. navy and black, beige and pale pink). In terms of bleeding - I do notice that there is a small amount of color run off even in cold water. The large powder usually lasts me 4 years or so but I try to minimize washing of sweaters by wearing long sleeved shirts underneath my sweaters.

    5. My absolute favorite detergent for cashmere and wool is Caldrea Delicate Wash. Unfortunately, I think it may have been recently discontinued as it’s no longer listed on their website. My 2nd favorite is Eucalan.

    6. Thanks all, I try to minimize washing as well, I have a spray from laundress works very vell!
Idk... definitely a disappointment.... since the the sweater that bleed was grey and navy and now has blue runs on it... I will definitely give your suggestions a try next time.... live and learn....lol.... thanks all

  6. Found a daisy print pencil skirt in my size at a good price.

So...what is the extra 25...? Cardholder here but no coupons since before Christmas...

  7. 25 off has been the coupon for delayed shipping!!!

  8. I was weak this am and ordered the collection silk striped shirtdress. I should know better than to buy final sale but I took a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  9. @ Jan I was eyeing that up. It looks pretty.

Thanks for the laundry tips. @kate I definitely ruined a white silk cami thinking it was okay to wash with other delicates. But, even my older woolen and silk items bleed a little. I would have thought them colorfast. I may try the recommendations made by JCAs since I think The Laundress makes more dye come out than it should. Also second long sleeve under wool for fewer washes.

Thanks to JCAs for the Drake's alert. May have gotten the horseback rider popover (we'll see if it ships).
