Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I’ll be stopping by to make returns I didn’t get too last weekend. I received the factory midi skirts yesterday and I love them. I do need to size up one size but that’s me post partum, not the skirt. They are knee length and a nice cut. Not see through though I would wear nude undergarments just in case because they are not lined. Lots of style possibilities with both patterns!

    1. Thank you Liz! I am going to hopefully swing by the Factory store after work today and try this on. I can’t decide which pattern I like better but really don’t need both. Glad they worked for you.

    2. Your welcome JessF! I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

    3. Bummed out as my store did not the skirt in either print. The only other thing I wanted to try on was the wide leg cropped chambray pants with the tie waist. Once I felt how thin the fabric was I didn’t bother to try on, I just can’t picture them fitting like the website photo as the fabric had no structure. My store usually has some random retail items and I scored the Tipped Wool TopCoat that Megan Markle wore the other week. I had eyed this up in January and passed on it as I don’t need another coat but it was only $60 and fit great. I couldn’t say no!

    4. Wow @jessf that’s an amazing find! Congrats, that coat looks beautiful!

    5. @jessF great score! Would you mind to tell me where did you find the coat I’ve beknf looking for it with no luck /
      Thanx!!!

    6. @Andrea it was the Philadelphia Premium Outlet store in PA. I found it on a rack of retail coats they had received. It was the only one of it’s kind. Since the clearance stores closed last year that outlet gets shipments of retail items every so often but it is random items and one offs and you really need to check every items for flaws.

  2. Hmm...I was just about to purchase a few sale items and the code doesn't work on sale, only full price. Oh well. Nothing I needed of course. If stores are offering discount off sale please report back! I won't have time to go today and not sure I will this weekend.

    1. they must have changed the promo because the code was definitely working on sale items yesterday. I purchased a few f/p items yesterday with the code but had been looking at an additional purchase but it's not working today so won't be buying.

    2. Just realized they changed the promo from yesterday. Since the discount doesn’t apply to sale, I won’t be ordering. 😡

    3. Probably doesn't apply to sale anymore bc sale got marked down. Some reasonable prices in there even without +% off.

    4. I bought some sale items this week (drapey coat, a wrap, swing dress, etc) and some were priced dropped more today. I emailed CS and they adjusted my receipt and credited me quickly. You might try calling to place an order?

In other news I like the drapey coat for our weird weather days (not parka/wool weather but not no coat either). The swing dress is a no. It clung in weird places versus swinging in the right ones.

    5. Oooh, that's low. No ordering for me until sale is included again.

  3. No visit for me - it’s Spring Break and we are headed to the beach. First time in many years that I purchased nothing for my trip at J Crew. It’s all Boden and Target ... and a cute, supportive 2 pc swimsuit from Lands End w matching rash guard and SPF50 sundress.

  4. This is more of a vent/mini review. Ordered the Elephant shirt and threw in the elephant Martie pants in 2 sizes and the pull on toothpicks in black. Keeping the shirt but all the pants are going back. I know crew pants don’t normally fit me well but keep trying to make them work. I should stick to Banana for pants. The pull on toothpicks were much more jegging than anticipated and not bad but I have plenty of pixies and regular leggings so I don’t feel the need to keep. The Marties are too small in one size but too large in the next and lack of belt loops makes these a no. I am finding less and less to love and it makes me sad. Even though no shop February is over I may only end up with the elephant shirt as my only purchase this month. Oh well.

  5. HI All!
What I am about to say may have shown up in a previous thread.I am a former J Crew mega fan who has fallen off of the J Crew train in the last two years, even though it pains me to say it. Years of waiting, and hoping, and then finally spending my eagerly anticipated gift cards on my sons, and my money elsewhere. But- always looking, and always hopeful, I still enter the store weekly. I am disheartened by the fabrics, and surprised by marketing techniques that I would expect to see in a big box store "10% OFF OF 1, 20% OFF OF 2".
But even so, I was shocked to see that a store that I pass on my travels through PA has just closed. There are at least 5 major colleges within a just a few miles of the Lehigh Valley store, and it had a great location, and an amazing staff. What a disappointment, and a dire harbinger that can not be ameliorated by the appearance of a few adorable( albeit pricey) tee shirts in the new collection.
I still wait and hope- nostalgic for the days when a new collection was a delight, and every holiday gift had to come from JCrew. Can it improve, or is this writing I don't want to read?

    1. Somsack Sikhounmuong has released some really bad J.Crew collection for those two years that just makes you want to say, "What in the hell are you thinking!!" I think the main focus at the moment is bringing back popular basics and trying to improve the quality.

    2. @knityarms. Lehigh Valley was my closest store even though it is about 45 mins. away. I was surprised yet not surprised when they closed. It is a small store and they often didn’t carry the items I was looking for and it was never busy when I was in. That being said the associates were always nice and there is not another store within 30-40 miles of that location. That mall is always crowded as well. I wonder if it was a high rent issue coupled with poor sales. I was in the week prior to closing and it seemed as if the news came without much notice. Now i will have to drive to King of Prussia if I want to go to a store which is even further for me and just a pain to get to. That coupled with the fact that nothing interests me means I won’t be making many trips in the near future.

    3. @knityarns, i too keep waiting and hoping. I turn to ebay a lot, although since i’m not the only one who sifts through listings, the pickings are getting slim. I’ve about lost hope for J.Crew - year after year things slid down. Is it vainglorious to say that I’m praying Ralph Lauren turns his company around?

      Delete
    4. @WFF I never tried the ebay route, although I could be tempted now. I miss those amazing prints , and great sweaters, and fresh styles. I would be happy if Ralph would right the ship. But I would have been happier if J Crew could have continued along with the things that made them so successful to begin with. Fingers crossed.

    5. I'd love to see some more beautiful, high quality 2007ish jackets with the printed silk linings and the nice buttons, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.

  6. OT: Anthropologie has 20% off this weekend. I got New Balance sneakers :) and a candle.

  7. OT - I ordered a few Crew items from eBay this week including a cashmere V-neck tee. The sweater arrived today and it is SO SOFT. The date tag is no longer on the waist seam but it's probably circa 2007 at least. It's also a medium and fit like my smalls fit today. But it's beautiful and now I want more old school cashmere!

  8. Do others find this promo soooooo boring? It would be so much better if sale items were included. I was looking forward to the new promo only to find NEWNEW extended with no enddate :-(((

    3. Yeah, and I think that cardholders have free shipping on their account through April? I've been hoping for this for years and now there's nothing I want to buy.

    4. @silverlining I was thinking the same thing in regards to free shipping. In the good old days with free shipping I would have had packages showing up left and right. I think since it has been offered I placed 2 orders.

    5. I’ve ordered a few things, black and white pointed toe loafers, silk crop pants and make up masks. The promo with my educator discount makes it almost 50% off. Will share thoughts once they arrive. Have silk crop pants in stripe and really like them, so hope they work in black too since I’m planning to pair with my sale popbacks. I looked at Eileen Fisher’s version and they were $$$, so trying JC since quality was 👍🏾 on striped version. Also snagged a few popbacks (Drake silk pj top from NYFW & horserider print cotton popover) when 40% off applied to sale. Really happy with both. Still waiting on black silk tunic to ship; I’ve worn olive version and really like it. Style reminds me of Vince and they were $30.

  9. Still having safari issues looking at the site but I noticed quite a few new arrivals. A ruffled mini skirt in solid poplin and also polka dot, a cute modest A-line knee length skirt, (very retro), scalloped shorts in more colors (I've already added these to my wishlist, but no need to buy more shorts with snow still on the ground).

    1. Thanks @SuzHas, I’m tempted by the side button skirt but I’m trying to refrain since it will be months before I could wear it.

    2. I like the side button skirt as well and the strappy block sandals in gold. Saw the sandals in store and they were good quality though the straps look very narrow compared to the weight of the chunky heel. Didn’t try on because I didn’t want to wrestle my snow boots on/off but those are going on my wishlist. Also noticed the embroidered blouse/skirt hookup has a shorts companion as well. They are really going all in on that fabric!

    3. Is this the new norm? a trickle of new arrival every week or every few days/ ? like the new linen parke blazer ...but I don;t need another linen blazer . maybe if the colours had been different.

    4. I think I like that denim/chambray jumpsuit but the rise my be a problem. Either i really hadn't been paying attention or it is new, but I might have to try it

  10. Happy weekend all! Does anyone have feedback on the new rollnecks that have just been released? Looking for sizing tips and overall quality review.

    1. I tried them on two different occasions and returned both. I like the style and the fit was tts for that slightly slouchy look. But I was surprised that the yarn was a major disappointment, the mix of cotton and nylon definitely favoured the nylon and I found the sweaters to be oddly heavy, slightly stiff and rather plasticky to the touch. The old ones were apparently a linen/cotton blend (which would have been great) and I just couldn’t get past the feel of the current version. They look great, but weren’t for me.

    2. I am going to pist reviews of new arrivals, including the rollneck soon (on my IG). Will try more on today in the store in case there is anything u needed a review of.

    3. I also tried it on... I sized down to my smaller size of XS. I found the small just too slouchy (even the shoulders were a little off). Material is a little thick but I didn't mind it. My thing is that it's March now and I'm not sure if I want another sweater at this point. I desperately want spring weather to get here.

    4. saw in store..didn't even try on as the fabric was...soooo nylon. didn't feel cotton at all.

      Delete
    5. pass. if it had been 100% cotton...sure. nylon..ick

      Delete
    6. Check out the men's version. I believe it's 100% cotton. I briefly looked at it when I was in the store on Thursday and I thought it felt nice, albeit very heavy for spring.

Also, I bought the bright pink winter version of the cotton/nylon blend roll neck sweater and I like it. I don't think it looks or feels plasticy and I'm very anti-synthetics. Yes, I prefer 100% cotton and I'd never pay the full retail price for it, but for the price I paid, I'm happy with it.

    7. @Jeanne Thanks for the tip, there is a "unisex" version and one of the barn jacket too. Unfortunately, it's sold out in XS in almost all the colors, what a shocker. Maybe that should say something. I still have my barn jacket in the closet, actually have two of them in various conditions, from the mid-1990's. The flannel in mine looks much softer.

  13. I visited my local store yesterday and it had been a few weeks. I was shocked by what I saw (though I’ve seen similar sentiments from others). The lingerie display was so tween and ick. I just don’t see someone from my demo spending much on this stuff (see through and cheap looking!). The rugby shirts were on full display and it just felt so retro. I made my return and left - didn’t want to spend any time there. This ship is sinking :(

    1. I don't understand the lingerie either - not sure who they are trying to target. I have a few things in my cart online ( a pair of shorts, the striped short sleeved top) but still trying to figure out what I truly need. I did purchase a yellow striped henley from factory that I'm enjoying. It's not something I would get in multiple colors. Still hoping for argyle and long merino or cotton cardigans.

    2. Well, a lot of ships are sinking. While I have no interest in the lingerie or athleisure lines (i already have trusted real athletic clothes), there are still quite a few nice designs and good quality offerings from the crew. My most recent impressive purchase has been the Cameron cropped pants. Great fabric and quality construction. Here's an article on the retail apocalypse. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2017-retail-debt/

  15. I stopped by on Thursday to do some returns, but I wasn't even tempted by any of the new releases. No shop March is still going strong, at least regarding clothes. I did, however, pick up some hair clips and barrettes. Even at 40% off, I think they're still a bit overpriced at J.Crew, but the quality is nice. I've managed to pick up a few cheap hair accessories in the sale section, but they go very quickly.

I also shopped for hair accessories last week at Ulta, Sally's, Target and a couple drugstores. I'm finding that all of these stores sell some nice quality made in France and/or made in Italy hair accessories, but they're mixed in with the cheap Chinese versions, so I had to read the fine print on every package. I'm very pleased with the assortment I bought. I feel well prepared for the upcoming hot summer.
