Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I have to roll my eyes at the latest J Crew advertising spin. They are promoting the advantages of a lack of an additional percentage off by saying "Less time doing the math means more time for doing you". They absolutely have the right to change their discounting strategies. I really don't care whether the discount is reflected in the shown price or there is an "additional" percent off - all I care about is the ultimate price that I am paying. (And I have to think that others feel the same). But telling me that they are going to save me time by relieving me from the burden of calculating a percentage off is somewhat insulting. Do they think I am five years old?

Sorry that this is turning into a vent but I also noticed a number of things seem to have flipped to final sale without an accompanying price reduction. It makes no sense to me at all. How do they expect to move merchandise on a final sale basis if the price does not justify the risks of a final sale?

    1. Agree 💯 and I posted a comment about it yesterday too. I don't care if they change their discounting formula, but who wants to pay more this week than whenan item was discounted an additional 30-40% off last week? If anyone, this is easier for the CS people who only need to look at the final price and not give adjustments on percentages without knowing what the last price was before the additional discount. That's who this benefits. Certainly not the rest of us!

    2. There is something repugnant about these tactics, I geuess it’s the electronic equivalent of paying someone to stand in front of a store and holler about low low prices. Mickey had more class.

    3. The good thing about this math already being done for me is that I could do a very quick, very unofficial count of the "shoulder" tops/sweaters in the sale section:

      7 cold-shoulder tops (27-71% off)
      10 one-shoulder tops (55-70% off)
      12 off-the-shoulder tops (32-65% off)

A lot of these have a full size run.

    4. agree....Jenna would never have named a blazer "The going out blazer" no updates to sale section in ages. it will all just sit there...forever.

    5. I agree 100% with everything said in this discussion! OMG when will JC understand seasonal - i dont want wool/cashmere in summer and I don't want sleeveless dresses in winter. they're missing a HUGE opportunity to make big sales if they'd just make some classy work dresses w a sleeve. Rant over.

      Delete
    6. And I'm SO sick of the sleeveless/one shoulder/off shoulder tops. Nobody wants them, send them to a freaking warehouse sale!

    7. Between the No Brainers showing me which items I need in my wardrobe, and the new pricing policy providing calculation emancipation (like Barbie said, “Math is tough!), I suddenly find myself with enough time to write a novel. Thanks, J.Crew!

    8. Agree with everything. I only care about the final price paid no matter how it is calculated and whether the item is final sale or not. I don't want any summer items in October marked final sale that were cheaper a few weeks ago. They still need better designs and better quality or I am not purchasing period. I still look forward to each rollout and when I see it am disappointed. There were a few items I liked from the new rollout but the fabric blends were something I am not interested in and did not wishlist a single thing. So sad so see the decline. Not sure this change in leadership can help pull them out of the giant hole they continue to keep digging.

    9. The language they use is so silly too - "no brainer", "hacks", etc. you can do better! we all believe in you!

    10. Preach, shopgrrrl! I had that same "gee, math is hard" eye roll moment.

      Delete
    11. @shopgrrrl thanks for the laugh!

    12. I agree! Why would I want a sleeveless WOOL dress in the fall/winter??? I just do not understand why they refuse to put a sleeve on anything. Is it a design challenge? I don't get it.

    13. I personally LOVE being able to take an extra percentage off beyond what is published, and I don't need J Crew to do it for me. This sale is so bogus - very low discounts on anything worth buying, and the endless parade of hideous one-shoulder, ruffled tops needs to stop. Beef up the work clothes selection!

    3. Here the code: TCJGL3XZ7 ( let's hope it is one-code for all) . 236 new arrivals . Same items we could see a day or two ago on link provided by a JCA(silver lining?)

    4. tried the code. not working...but maybe its for US only. i am in Canada.

    5. Is the code only good for new arrivals or everything? I tried it on the order I placed yesterday and it didn't work, I also didn't receive it.

      Delete
    6. That looks like a one-time use code so it's probably already been redeemed.

      Delete
    7. Email says code for new arrivals/ VIP access . I'm not a cardholder so probably randomly sent. Maybe checking spam or trying cs/ stylist to ask for one .

    8. does anyone have a link to the early access? Thanks!

    13. I ordered the Harlow cardigan in plum with the code and the free shipping. Hoping the acrylic part is the velvet content and not the body of the sweater. I have the yellow and cobalt ones and really like the v-neck shape.

Related - The navy Harlow with the silk underlay is $31 now - I have to say that's been a fall go to for work the last few weeks - surprised how much I've loved that one.

  3. So, is anyone thinking, how much longer with this new CEO? I think there is a big distinction with a CEO whose experience is in the fashion industry versus someone who came from home furnishing (West Elm). I'm trying to see why this was the best move for J. Crew. Honestly, it really shows that all this new guy can contribute is price antics. That will never resolve the quality aspect. People will pay what they perceive is the quality's value.

    1. Hi carmelfor02 - I agree re: quality/value/price. Some of the old school JCA's may remember back in '08 when the best we could hope for was a code for free shipping/no minimum, or the occasional additional 20% off in the sale section. They didn't even do final sale! And yet, things still sold (and sold out).

Back then, I didn't feel like I *had* to get the lowest price possible in order to pull the trigger on an order, and if something got a further cut I didn't feel like I had to chase a price adjustment. Now, I can see why people do it. I hem and haw about placing an order a lot more than I used to...and even doing the math for me isn't enough encouragement.

      Delete
    2. Yes, back in the day I paid full price AND bought multiples of items and didn't flinch. You snooze, you lose and things sold out all the time. Thankfully I still have most of my 2008-2010 stuff as the quality was there then.

      Delete
    3. That's what I've been wondering, carmelfor02.

The heart is gone out of J. Crew, and it's all about finances now. Ironically, focusing on money is what is going to push them over the edge of insolvency.

      Delete
    4. Silver Lining - things sold because the design and quality were worth owning, and worth paying for. I really wish they'd work on improving quality and design, but perhaps the market really wants cheap + free shipping more.

    5. More importantly, who replaced Somsack as head of Women’s?

    6. @JSR if I remember correctly he was not going to be replaced for the time being and it was going to be a collaborative effort.

  4. This isn't getting any better JC. I'm all for a good promotion, but the marketing of how they're doing it is so silly. And I'll never for the life of me understand how something is a best seller when it's a new product.

    1. agree again. this guy has gotta go.. I do want to know when a promo is ending. with no date posted for the recent one.. i hope this is not the new normal.

  5. Well, I didn't get any early access email or codes, but I did get a thank you email with a pic of a cute pup on a pile of jeans! Wth! Where am I shopping again? Children's Place? It's so dumb it's insulting.

    1. I did appreciate their thanks for my order -- I haven't bought much from JC this year, and even if it was just a blast e-mail, it made me feel like someone (real or virtual) noticed.

    2. I got one of the "thank you" puppy emails too and was puzzled by this strategy. I would much rather have received a 15% off stackable code or something.

    3. ^ yes, that would be a nice thank you. I see enough puppies and cats and every other creature on social media. 😂

  6. I've only got 'This is not a typo: up to 70% off' email. I am really waiting for new arrivals for kids since there are just no sizes left. I like Boden quality and fit for kids better then JCrew but their color schema is hurting my eyes.

  7. I did stop by and there was a big sign that said 30% off but I'm not sure what was discounted.
Yesterday I actually placed an order for the ruffle sleeve sweater and the embroidered boyfriend chino with patches. My store happened to have both. The ruffle sleeve sweater is actually a love for me. I got the gray in my actual size. I often size up for length. This is wide so I also tried the size down and it was too short, my my usual XS is perfect. It's a great price right now and if it came in black I'd get that too. I was tempted to get the olive but the gray was more flattering. The chinos on the other hand do nothing for me. I wanted them to fit slouchy so I tried them sizing up andthey just kind of hang. They're cute if they work on you.

  11. Vancouver Park Royal store just 30% off regular items. No extra % off sale. Sale racks looked as though back room had been cleared. Multi sizes in all the languishing one shoulder or ots tops. Stacks of the ratti print ots which mygoddy styled so beautifully. Even a number of pairs of the Sammie Chino in khaki and maroon at $27.!! Lots of cotton Marties too. Waiting for the new rollout so as no further discounts on sale section to tempt me I left empty-handed.
