Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I can't believe I'm typing this, but I actually found a couple of 100% cotton sweaters at Loft that I liked - the striped split-back sweater in rustic red (I'd say TTS - the knit looks and feels like the milano knit JC uses in their sweater jackets) and the slit-sleeve sweater in wild cherry (almost tunic length, could size down but I liked the slouchiness). I stopped ordering from them last year because of their return policy but was passing by a store and was glad to try them on there. I just can't with JC and Madewell's blends... they can look so ratty after a short period of time.

    1. I bought a few knit tops from Loft yesterday - all 100% cotton. I stopped buying from them for a short while as they were scanning your license when you made a return, even with your receipt. I don't want my information stored like this. They are no longer doing that, so maybe it was a test run. Anyway, must shop carefully at ALL the chain stores now but there are still natural fibers to be found out there.

    2. Hi shopalot - good to know that they're not scanning your license anymore. I hated that!

  2. Stopped at Target today to buy a new travel toothbrush and walked past the men's clothing department and seriously thought I was at the Crew! They have a new brand called Goodfellows & Co that looks just like Crew men's wear. The promo shots look just like how the Crew does theirs and I swear some of the models are the same. I saw a bunch of things I loved. Really stepping up their game with some very nice items. Women's had a lot of Crew like items as well, but still too much fast fashion. I NEVER thought I'd see (hideous) velvet burn-out stuff again. Ugh...I was wrong.
