J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Did a mock check out & 25% off code Shopnow is currently working on new arrivals. Probably have a few hours during transition of promos.

    1. Worked for me at around 9:20pm PST.
Ordered the ikat mules and embroidered linen shirt in white/blue. The only two I'm interested in from this roll-out that I want to try. The rest: embroidered pineapple tee in red, ankle wrap espadrilles in muslin.

I used to love the striped OTS sweater but it's made with poly, it's dry clean, and hits slightly above hip?!? That's short! Disappointed on their choice of fabric.

    2. I was also able to take advantage of the 25% last night. I ordered the eyelet top with tassel trim in white, though I plan to cut off all of the tassels. Apparently I'm the only person out there who doesn't like tassels these days.

    3. Happy to help! The pragmatist in me only allowed an order of the Thomas Mason striped pant with the promo. I really like the NWFW pieces, especially the pink satin embroidered skirt and the pj top. Also like the gingham eyelet dress, white denim sheath, ikat mules & green suede sandals. Didn't order; will admire from afar at this point. I did order a few sale items: denim swing jacket (want to try this as an alternative to a denim jacket) & navy wrap around espadrilles (they do run small so size up).

    4. Please just humor me...@Mygoddy, did the code work on the TM pant? I purchased a pop back in the TM boy shirt that finally showed up in my size. Normally, I would have NEVER paid f/price for a shirt with such mixed reviews but I have been looking for a basic L/S shirt with the cuffs since forever. It is not a new arrival but when I saw my size, couldn't help myself and grabbed it. Oh well, I had it shipped to the store just in case i didn't love it and it became an immediate return!!

    5. @Rashawnda Yes, the promo worked 😁. Hope the shirt works for you!

    6. Sad face for me but KUDDOS TO YOU!! Always doing the Happy Dance for anyone that finds a good sale!

  2. Thank you for posting that Mygoddy! Just placed an order & got 25% off new arrivals!

    1. 25% off no longer worked this morning. It seems silly not to have a % off new arrivals, when we all know there will be one soon. The free shipping is nice, but I wouldn't pay FP for any of the new stuff.

    2. there are a few things i would like to try, but will also wait for FP promo. I want to try the striped apron dress and the linen sweater with the single sequin flower (more toned down option of the popular jackie cardian with the sequin flower from Feb roll out).

  3. There are some pretty spectacular pop backs this morning

    1. Yes there were a bunch. They were fun to comb through, but nothing I needed. It was great to have free shipping though.

    2. Great popbacks but nothing in my size! Still... I bit on three things: a rashguard, NB sneakers, and the Thomas Masom peasant blouse. I needed the former two, and curiosity got me for the latter.

  4. I just received the blue, bow back top, which I think has disappeared in most sizes now,( also comes in lemon). The colour is beautiful, really vibrant and I like the fabric but I'm not sure what the fuss is all about, it's nice enough, an everyday sort of top but nothing special. I'm not sure that I'll keep it.

  5. I slogged through all the new items and all the sales items and came up with zilch. As far as those new items....when I got to the double row ruffle off the shoulder sweater I just groaned.

    1. Same. Another rollout, another month of absolutely nothing catching my eye. I stopped getting the style guides, too. Oh well.

    2. Me three. I need nothing but want nothing either. All the OTS stuff is still going full steam and I have one top of this style and that is plenty for me. Also huge ruffles are not my jam either or is anything that requires a strapless bra. I can't wear cute summer shoes to work so they are out and the jewelry looks a bit cheap to me this go around. I will wait patiently for fall clothes and hope there is something to love soon.

    3. absolutely nothing...I want. oh no!!!! not even in the updated sale section.

    4. @unknown. Same here. I was excited because I happened to be awake really early and saw 2500+ in the sale section, but there wasn't one single thing I wanted. It was funny seeing some silly things re-appear -- like that looped bathmat coat. Where was that thing hiding!

    5. I managed to score the windowpane marties in my normal petite size (sized up not realizing how much it bags out). $28! Hopefully it ships 🤞🏻

    6. not too much for me lately... but my VPS did send me two tees and a pair of shorts... we're not talking cutting edge stuff here

    7. I've only bought a few basics lately, the Maddies seem to be working for me. As for the new arrivals....whatever. The small pineapple print is pretty, as is the harbor print, but they aren't on any pieces that interest me.
I spent an hour putting away my winter things (yes, it was a very cold, rainy spring this year) and getting out my summer things yesterday, so I've got lots of shopping my own closet to do.

    8. @Garzelloni I love those windowpane marties! I ordered my regular size and while the pant legs do bag after a few wears, the waist has stayed the same. If I had sized down I would be uncomfortable sitting. I actually like it in my normal size - very comfy!

    9. Ay Caramba!....it's BAD when I can't even find a pair of earrings or a scarf I like! I would not have been surprised to see a big hat the shape of a bowl with fruit in it. Of all the female archetypes in our collective psyche, I would never pick Carmen Miranda to inspire my fashion choices.

    10. @eeps. So glad you love them! I love mine but was mistaken to have sized up. Fingers crossed my normal sized ones ship! 🤞🏻

  6. Some of my favs from this roll-out: Beaded Orb earrings(so fun!),Smocked top in Liberty Poppy and Daisy Floral (such a pretty Summer floral), Embroidered Linen Cotton top, Striped OTS Ruffle Sweater, Tie-waist Chino(probably too long for me, though), Ankle-wrap Espadrilles.

  7. Cute new releases of Collection pieces. Most of the pieces from NYFW are here. The pink silk jammies, silk pink pencil skirt....

I'm eyeing that sheer polka dot top.

    1. Wasn't there someone last week on here who wanted the pj top but was told it didn't make it to production?

      Delete
    2. The wrap sash satin skirt is really pretty but I wish they had done it in a more wearable color. I don't think the light beige is going to be very popular for a satin skirt.

      Delete
    3. Agreed, if I had somewhere to wear these lovelies, I'd get the Embellished satin skirt or the Embroidered dot tulle skirt or top.
Ruffle Shell in gauzy cotton is pretty. I'm interested to see what people say in the reviews. Not quite sure where I'd wear it or how to best style it.

    4. @Cass that was me!! And @Barbara Myers was looking for the NYFW items as well.
So glad it DID make it to production after all. And that pajama shirt looks so cute, a bit like a blazer/shirt. Just waiting for a good promo now.

    5. Agree that the ruffle shell is pretty, but again with the unflattering color...
I also wish they'd suggest some alternative styling options--I would be more likely to buy if I could picture myself wearing a full outfit with the item. I'm not into satin or sequin skirts with casual t-shirts. Sorry, not everyone wants to dress like Jenna.

  8. YES! The pink silk PJ top that supposedly wasn't being made is magically on the site! Thanks for remembering! I know I have been whining about it (LOL)! Full price at $198 doesn't work for me but you know I am keeping my eye on it. It seems like lately all I even entertain buying is the collection product. Mostly out of my budget though- A girl can DREAM!

    1. Just goes to show Customer Service aren't up to date on these things. Have had this happen before. They also are not as good as my VPS in finding sold out items.

  9. Can't wait to to see the white denim shift dress and tie neck oxford dress. Love the orb earrings, too.

  10. Is this the first time they've put the goofy "! No-brainer" beside certain items on the site? Don't know why I find this so irritating, except I guess the English major in me objects to the incorrect placement of the exclamation mark, or indeed any use of an exclamation mark to try and create! excitement! when! there! is none! That's the sure mark of an amateur writer. OK, thanks y'all, for giving me a place to vent.
    Yours for an exclamation-free world.

    2. Thanks, MaryG, I love punctuation humor! A few of us discussed the grating new label a few weeks ago when it first appeared. I guess J.Crew thinks their stuff isn't selling because we customers can't recognize a great piece when we see one. It's right up there with the Freak Out list.

    3. All of this is attributable to the newest intern of the Copywriter from Space - JCAs, meet the Superfluous Punctuator!

    4. This reminds me of one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes where Elaine breaks up with her boyfriend over punctuation. I won't spoil it for you:

  11. Can I say how much I hate the tipped ruffle top in stripe? That ruffle in the front looks like curtains for my belly... out of which I expect the alien from Alien to appear. What is it meant to highlight?? A baby bump? A food baby?

    2. I'm interested to see a review from someone who tries the top on. It looks like it's the same top as the one in the Ratti Painted Pineapple print.

  14. Has anyone got the Campbell linen blazer in pineapple print? I just saw it in the catalog and I have to say, I'm intrigued. I know it's might look cheesy in couple months, but it's pineapple😄..
