Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Update on the mysterious pants that were ordered November 7th: they were "shipped" meaning label was printed December 2, and as of December 8 had reached a post office. It is now December 16. No inbetween stops are reported. You may provide appropriate sound effects yourselves.

    1. Limbo, you had mentioned? Perhaps the pants were ill behaved.

    2. WFF, don't be surprised if you start receiving postcards, a la Traveling Gnome, from your pants, of all the fabulous places they'd been to lately! 😋

In all seriousness, this is so ridiculous and rather inexcusable, as these were ordered way before the onslaught of Black Friday, so it's not as if that's partially responsible! Geez.

    3. WFF have you not called CS and yelled?

    4. Reviewing the bidding here:
-- pants 1.0 - ordered at 40% promo on 11/5, back ordered til 11/22. Other items in order shipped 11/7. Website showed pants were selling out, sooo---
-- pants 2.0 - all sizes back on website with 30% promo. My first pants were not moving, so protectively ordered another pair on 11/28, figuring I'd straighten out price difference later. These shipped 12/3, were delivered 12/16, and promptly exchanged for a larger size -- at the 40% off price, and are now known as:
-- pants 3.0, which are due to arrive today. There is some rain/snow going on...

Meanwhile, pants 1.0 had a shipping label printed on 12/3. And this morning -12/17 - when I opened the door, there was the package! Since I know already that they're the wrong size, they'll be going back.

Thank you all for your encouragement and kind thoughts. @maqsad, I was spending all my yelling energy with Apple's phone support.

    5. WFF, am so glad you've got them! I hear you on apple phone support - Wouldn't wish that (or Comcast) on my worst enemy! In similar multi-order-for-one-item shenanigans (& I'm a serial offender, I freely admit), went into a store to return a blazer, stood in line for 20minures, got to the counter and was told "this blazer has already been returned". I'm showing the SA all the stickers, packaging, order numbers, and she doesn't have the time or the computing power to figure it out. Husband very upset with me. Personal budget & reputation falls further into the depths of calumny. Now I'll be doing some cyber detective work bc who needs time to do actual work when there's jcrewsing demanding one's attention?

  3. I think there are new arrivals on the website this morning, or else I'm way behind. Some of them seem very resort/spring.

    1. Agree, TerriLynn13. This is what I mean about their production cycle - it seems off. The Penny tops, OTS blouses, even the Edie dress. I get that some shoppers travel to warmer climes this time of year, but seeing that the Edie top seemed really popular, I would have thought that the dress might have debuted sooner, at least for Fall.

In any case, the Tie-neck cardi is quite cute! Thankfully (for me), no must-haves. I've done enough damage lately!

Re) visiting store, I'm going this afternoon to make one return (pretty Tuxedo bib blouse with ruffles - I recommend it, as the White isn't sheer like some of their other white blouses.) I didn't realize it came in Petite so I've ordered it for a better fit (between sizes in Regular). Hope to pick up a few more small gifts.

  5. Calling the WWFIFY JCAs: if someone sees a pair of Lena ankle strap pumps in velvet in a 7 in NYC, could you let me know here? Thank you! Also has the Prince St. store still a separate jewelry and shoes mini-store? I lost faith in shipping so might go there to look for a few gifts.

  6. can the $20 off $100 bounce back cards be used online or only instore only??? thanks

    1. Cards will be marked in the back if in-store only . Cards that can be used online will have the string of numbers and then 4 digits under a scratch area
Yesterday evening I chatted with CS as I was trying to place an online order for the black jacket w/gold buttons that in regular sizes didn't have the 30% ( petite sizes had it )... I asked about using my 20$ off $100 + and CS said I couldn't use that online ..Made my case saying that I could go to a store this morning to place the order and use the card or he could just give me a 40% off instead which would make the $20 difference . CS said he would be happy to so order was placed .

  9. It's so hard to resist the free shipping and the promo but I've really bought myself too much lately. My hubby always gives me a gift card at Christmas so I really need to hold off until after Christmas. I need will power. :)
I won't get into a store but I just received the New Balance Mesh 711 shoes in navy and they are quite nice, look like they do online. I sized up to 91/2 from my usual 9 based on reviews and thank goodness as even the 91/2 are a touch snug. I have the 696 NB from jcrew in sz 9 that are perfect maybe a touch big so the 711 def run smaller. They are very cushioned so hopefully will be comfy.

  10. There were some new items today. Only must have for me were the collection forest green wool pants. And finally snagged the blue pajama shirt in my size that i accidently didnt buy on black friday week. And i let myself get sucked in to ordering my 3rd lady day coat of the season - this time in newly marked down red. Every time it arrives i fall out of love. But maybe red will be it for me! Good day!

    1. I keep thinking about splurging on the polka dot one, but am hoping it'll still be around in my size when a promo or sale is applied. I've never tried the lady coat. What is your take on the ones you've tried?

      Delete
    2. Two different things: the lady day COAT is the long fit and flared double cloth coat, lined in thinsulate, which seems to be released in different colors each year. The lady jacket is the Chanel inspired boxy jacket that you're referring to in polka dot, also released in Plaid and black with gold buttons this season. They are a great style, but personally (and I try them each season) they're too cropped and boxy for me. I have bought a handful and sadly either returned or sold them all. I love the black with gold buttons and when it goes on sale in a month or so I might try it again.

  11. Hi, this is off topic but I am interested in people's thoughts about the different Regent blazers in wool. I just ordered the navy Regent blazer B0323/B0327/B0328 (which they describe as "wool with a hint of stretch") then I noticed there is a navy Regent in super 120s wool F5642/F7359/F7360. I have not seen the two of them side by side in real life. What is the difference? Is it a matter of drape, feel (itchiness against the neck), durability? Is the extra cost for the super 120s wool worth it? Perhaps the only way to know is to order both and look at them side by side. I would not have even looked at the 120s wool version were it not for the 40% off promo since I have to shop with my poor cousin Canadian dollars :-) but the promo makes me wonder if I should splurge.

I must admit that I did not like the Regent when I first saw it. The popped collar seemed slightly forced (I am old enough that I thought about Fonzi and the cast of Pretty in Pink) but after seeing it over and over again, somehow my eye has adjusted to it. I was also concerned about the need for more frequent dry cleaning, but I have grown to like it a lot. (Although the various different versions seem to fit just a little differently each time.) I still wonder about
the longevity of the style. Will it look "so 2015/2016" in a couple of years?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

    1. The super 120s wool will feel lighter to the touch. It has more sheen and very fluid drape. The regular wool regent blazer is nice enough to wear to the office but not so nice you wouldn't be able to wear it casually. The super120s might feel a lot thinner (they call it an all season wool). It will definitely feel like a more expensive wool suit. HTH.

      Delete
    2. Also, in my experience, neither are itchy to the touch or against the neck. For me, bc I've got a blue schoolboy blazer, I returned the regular navy regent blazer bc I didn't think it would get enough wear, not being different enough.

      Delete
    3. One thing I'd like to mention with the regular wool Regent in navy- it's a lint magnet! I don't know about the 120s wool version, but this may be reason enough to opt for that one. I bought the Regular one last year and I find that I'm constantly having to touch it up since it's quite noticeable on the darker color.

    4. Thanks maqsad, TM93 and Ruffles. With the 40% off promo and free shipping I've ordered both the regular wool and super 120s versions in navy but will be paying particular attention to the link retention issue.

  12. The Super 120s is a beautiful fabric, one of J Crew's best over the years. I've found the suiting wears very nicely and has a nice drape.

I agree about the Regent style ... I disliked it but over time shopping J Crew and seeing the silhouette on JCAs I have grown used to it. IMO it's very strongly "date stamped" 2015/2016 and I never purchased the style because I prefer a less trendy look in a jacket, but others love it so it's individual preference!

  13. Hi ladies, has anyone seen the Ruffle silk button up in Fuschia bloom IRL? I'm wondering if it's the same color as the lace peplum in Fuschia bloom even though it's the same name I know shades can vary. Also any thoughts on this shirt, wondering how it fits as returns are such a pain for me. Thx!

    2. @jan, Gigi reviewed it as well in her latest post, said it was TTS, said the fuschia had a bit of a sheen that she wasn't crazy about, I think, but recommended the pretty blouse all the same. Not sure how it compares to the lace peplum though. I get the feeling the lace might be a bit 'darker' than the silk, but that's just speculation on my part. 😌

    3. @TM93, thank you! Still trying to resist ordering anything but I know final sale will be back soon I'm sure. :)

      Delete
    4. @jan - I've seen both in the store and @jan's hunch is correct. The lace does seem darker and gives more of a "pop" than the blouse, but both are very pretty.

      Delete
    5. @mirielle, thank you! I had a feeling they were slightly different. Glad to hear it's a pretty shade IRL. :)

    6. @jan, I was in a store this afternoon and saw both your blouse and the lace peplum on the same rack- thought of you right away! Like mirielle confirmed, the lace does seem like a slightly deeper shade, perhaps because of the threads in the lace. Hope the blouse works out for you! 😀

  14. Grrr.....here's a new one: while scrolling through clearance this morning, I was thrilled to see a popback of the Crystal Foliage necklace for $79 CAD, less 40%. I put it in my cart and kept browsing. I got distracted before I could check out, and then of course it was gone. But I watched for it all day, and it just popped back again, but now it's $129 CAD less 30%! What is going on?

  15. Hi... the super120 is really worth the extra cost, IMO. Like maqsad said, it's thinner but has a little stretch so much more versatile for layering. Thank goodness JCrew still keeps their super 120's the same! I've had their suits for at least 5 years and they still look and wear beautifully.

  16. Thanks Pansy.

Using the super 120s topic as a jumping off point:

    1) do all of the super 120s match - for example, if I get a jacket in navy super 120s will it match pants in super 120s or do people find that the dye lots vary?
    2) Do the Paley pants (in either super 120s or stretch wool) ever go on sale or is the 40% off promo the best I am going to do?
    3) Paleys - super 120s or stretch wool - what do people prefer?

I'm tempted to buy some of the Paleys in both fabrics to try on, but even after the promo discount, for Canadians it's $130 for the stretch wool and about $150 for the super 120s and the thought of ordering 4 or 5 pairs of pants at these prices for try on purposes to cover all size possibilities and both types of fabrics seems a bit much. I'd love to go to a store to try them on but no petites in store...

    Thank you for your insights.

  17. Check the receipts. It could be that they returned the wrong item the first time, it happened to me once (I mean that you went to return something that was on the same receipt and they scanned the wrong item, aka the blazer that you were trying to return this time)

  18. I'm going to try and make a few returns this week, including the fuchsia blossom lady day coat, size 4. If anyone is interested in this coat as it's sold out (and it's really wonderful) let me know. I have pics on IG @wearthislikethis. I love it but have the red from last year and the colors are too similar to keep both.

  19. @Toronto Modern: the jackets and pants match only during the same season. Otherwise there are slight variations. The lighter the color (e.g. gray) the more noticeable. Hope this helps!
