  1. The Zippered coat in the chartreuse is cute! Too bad is not offered in petite.

I also like the Wolfstooth flounce dress. I'm glad the price is low, and it's lined! But no promo😒

Another like-Collection green satin tee with beads; the way it was styled is so Jenna.

    1. I like that one too (the green satin tee). And the Regent topcoat in the Ratti print very Gucci-esque)

    2. It does scream Italian print--I thought of MIUMIU or Marni.
I like the skirt in that geo print. I'd have to see in person since it's poly. I love how it's styled in the catalog with the navy pajama top.

  2. Good morning JCA’s! Initial thoughts:

I just want to cover the model’s legs with that blanket - isn’t she cold? (Granted, these pics were probably taken in summer!).

The Ratti Fruity-Floral print looks very similar to this one they did in 2005.

I like the festive plaid button-up, stripe scarf with pom poms and Sorel Out-N-About boots. I especially like that they’re offering the boot in half sizes - I tried them from Madewell last year and found 9 too big and 8 too small. Also might have to get the food Fair Isle scarf from the girls’ side. ; )

Holiday’s one of my favorites at JC… but I wonder if the second holiday rollout will be more festive. They couldn’t do a single holiday tee? There are 2 Fair Isle sweaters, but nothing like the skier and reindeer sweaters from past years. Maybe they're still a little "off" in terms of seasons.

    1. Indeed re the Ratti Fruity-Floral! Was pleased to see cause I have it and the shoes too...I don't wear them together! ;) The 2005 coat is 100% wool and still looks brand new.
Think the plaid flats and shearling/faux shearling scarves are more similar to J.Crew Holiday from around that same time. Last year's faux shearlings were enormous in comparison to past. Bailey our pup loved the jewels on the plaid flats in 2008! My bad for leaving them out but was able to rescue in time!

    2. not a fan of the fruity floral...maybe because it looks orangeon my screen...is it coral in IRL?

    3. I have the 2005 coat and I would call it orange red. Is the new one that much different in color? I ask but I don't care -- I love the print and want to buy it again. In fact, I was going to buy it a few minutes ago, but it's excluded from the promo.

  3. Just a heads up that the Star Tippi sweater which has previously been excluded from promos is eligible for 30% off with the SHOPNOW code.

  4. I have enough black watch plaid items from previous years....seems I only wear it in Nov/Dec. Same with a few other festive plaids...I have enough for now.

  5. Glad I ordered last night....it was 30% . I think they should have kept it at that....Carolyn from Vancouver.
a bit of an update to sale section....but only 25%.

  6. I continue to struggle with JC. I usually love the gift lists, but not much caught my eye this year. The double serge shift dress is lovely, but I wish it had sleeves. I miss when JC did great work dresses with sleeves! I feel like some things we've seen year over year, such at the black watch plaid shirts. I love the cashmere turtleneck, but at $298 even after the discount is still a splurge when I need other things (like pants - another item that I used to easily find at JC was good winter pants and not skinnies!). Sorry for the rant, but I'm nostalgic for the good old days of JC.

    1. SLEEVES..... oh I wish they would do at least a few in winter...

      Delete
    2. Oh, I so agree: sleeves! J Crew, in Northern Illinois, sleeveless looks stupid after September.

  7. I ordered the Emerald Pool Pintucked Pencil Skirt in Lace and the Beaded Ostrich T-shirt to go with. The skirt is less than $75 with the discount! My wishlist tripled with this rollout - YAYCrew!

    1. I thought the price on the skirt was a mistake at first. That's a freak-out price, especially since it is included in the promo!

  8. I picked up the black lace peplum yesterday with the promo - it was excluded this morning so glad I purchased yesterday. I also ordered the short sleeve black/red tweed dress. I like the tartan heels but they have such a short window of wear time so I am trying to hold off. I still have my eye on the bright pink cocoon coat as well!

Aside from that, I have my share of holiday plaids, etc. and there isn't much else that's a must have at this point. I will probably stop by the store later this week to check things out in person.

  9. Is it just me or is this a small roll out?

    1. I agree - it seems very limited. Where are all the sweaters?? The guys have the usual amazing selection of twenty+ wool sweaters. What is going on with the women's collection? I can't even call it a collection!

  10. There are a bunch of shoes that I would love to have but I will need to wait for them to either go on sale or show up at the clearance store. I do need a new watch plaid shirt so I will probably pick up one of those and other than that, I don't need much.

  11. Part of me wishes I'd pulled the trigger on a couple pairs of pants (that are now excluded) last night; part of me knows I should be shopping my closet instead, anyway ;) Nice promo, though.

  12. The free shipping and 30% off for cardholders got me to try a few bracelets that were marked down - lucite link bracelet and the palm bracelet. Also going to try the gathered gingham popover - nothing was final sale. :D

  13. I'm tempted by the holly sweater in aqua mist, but reviews say in runs short. This isn't the ill-fated Tilly sweater under a different name, is it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i think the tilly was more like the tippi... the holly sweater is thicker... it does run a little short but i do like it. (i'm actually wearing last years version right now)

      Delete
    2. I bought one last year final sale & sold it off on Poshmark. No, it isn't *as* short as the Tilly but it was too short for me (I don't have a particularly long-ish torso, either). Unfortunately I don't live near a store so I couldn't try it on prior to purchase.

  14. I have hit an all time low today, the mailman came in today and announced that I had my own tub, all J.Crew.....embarrassing.

    1. Is it bad of me to say I'm really anticipating your reviews?

    2. Awww don't feel bad, it's funny, but with me and my boyfriend both ordering J Crew I'm sure the postman is thinking what the heck?!

    3. I bought a few more bag tags, brown and pink for my two signet bags. I had them embossed with gold and they are really quite nice. I also scored the ruffle liberty popover in pink berry wiltshire print. It went on sale but I did notice that it is still included in the December style guide like it is a new item. I know this print has been around for a while and I kind of like it.

      Delete
    4. Oh no lol! Don't you wish they'd stop printing J. Crew in huge print on all the boxes? I hate that. Although, it doesn't sound like you had enough to fill a tub.

      Delete
    5. All of the bag tags came in separate boxes, it was a tub full.

    6. Oh dear. I sympathize completely. I'm the same - IG has borne witness. I think the mail and UPS guys Must have nicknames and jokes for/abt us...

    7. And what Cate said is 100% true: that massive logo is just the icing on the cake-of-humiliation....

  15. Good afternoon, everyone! I have a few things in my cart but haven't purchased yet. Can anyone weigh in on any of the J.Crew for Sperry boots? I am contemplating the gray flannel Shearwater's or the black Shearwater's with the buckle. Would love to hear if they are warm and keep your feet dry as they should.

    TIA! Nicole

    1. They do keep your feet warm and dry but I have figured out that you should probably go up a size in order to wear any type of socks. I have a pair in my usual size 8 that fit fine but I can't even get them on with a sock then one day at the clearance store they had a pair of the ones that buckle across instead of lace up with the citron sole (love them) but they were a size 9. I thought what the heck, I will try them on and they are perfect and I can wear a fairly thick sock. I really wish my other pair was a 9 as well. HTH

      Delete
    2. Very helpful! Thanks so much! I love some of the Sorel boots they offer but in Missouri, it is very hit or miss whether we will have snow each winter so I felt like the Sperry's would be more useful as they can be worn even if we only get rain and not snow.

      Delete
    3. I also have a pair of the Sorel Caribu boots that are more TTS. We don't get a ton of snow here but we do get cold weather and of course I have a little dog that has to go out. BTW, tomorrow is her 10th birthday....Happy Birthday Doodle!!!

    4. I have wider feet and found them to run narrow so I had to size up in order to fit thick socks. They are definitely warmer than my Bean boots but I found that they still pinched my feet after going up a size so I had to return them.

  16. I liked a few things from this rollout, but as others mentioned, I'm still a little black watch plaid hungover from previous years. I love it, but already own more pieces than one person actually needs.
My favs from the rollout are:
-Sadie poms (and I'm so not a pom fan)
-Lady coat with braided trim (to me it looks simultaneously ladylike and cool)
    -Tuxedo-inspired long-sleeve tee

    Replies
    1. I really agonized over the Lady coat while it was included in the promo. It looked nice but also reminded me a tiny bit of a chenille bathrobe. I guess I wanted some sort of band at the waist or something.

      Delete
    2. I also like that coat and it would actually full a gap in my closet but U want to see IRL as it seems very lightweight from the pic. Probably a sale purchase for me for that reason but I love the look.

      Delete
    3. *fill* a gap. And I was talking of the lady coat with braided trim

      Delete
    4. I thought the same thing. I love the idea, but need to see it in person...

      Delete
    5. Reminds me more of a long blazer, kind of Chanel inspired, but longer. I also wish there was a band in the back.

      Delete
  17. Loving quite a few items, including the Tuxedo-inspired long sleeve tee. Waiting for reviews, though. It looks like the sleeves might not work for us shorter JCA's.

    1. It is cute! I swore off JC knits a few years ago since the pin holes haven't stopped

    2. Love that tee. Got the sleeveless version last year and it's a great piece. I had a similar one with long sleeves that I wore to death. It's on my wish list.

  18. I love the picture shown in the email for today's release of new items. Is that a scarf or plaid blanket she's wearing? I adore it!

    1. I agree--the thing I want most in this catalog is the gorgeous blanket on the cover!!!

      Delete
    2. I'll second that! Where can we find that blanket!

      Delete
    3. Found out through CS that the blanket is and was not ever available, looks like they used it as a prop for the picture. Although somewhere I'm sure we could find something similar.

    4. Bummer!! It's gorgeous!! Thanks so much for the reply and the investigating! :)

    5. This looks like the one she's sitting on, and this looks like the one on her legs with a red background. I believe it's called Stuart tartan - I have a cashmere scarf from JC a few years ago (with a white background) that looks very similar.

      Delete
    6. It's dress Stewart - the one draped over her legs.

  19. As far as black watch plaid- I NEED (tee hee) a skirt! Surprised they didn't produce one. The button up I have is from GAP kids (boys size 14). I caught it on clearance last year. It's fun to pair BWP with funky stuff so it isn't so conservative or serious.

  20. Stopped in to return a pair of too tight shoes and my too tight Oxford check coat. Looked at shoes: those glitter heels with the grosgrain are adorable but run large. I'm an 8.5/9 and the 8 was as big as I could go. The Sophia in black, size 8 was about 1/2 size small, but the leopard Sophia in an 8 just fit—I'd probably go for an 8.5. To contrast, I had to return the Lena pump (nude/pink) in 8.5 because it was too tight.

    1. That is convenient.. It is already a wild guess on sizing with clothes and shoes are following suit. Crazy

      Delete
    2. This is nothing new, I've had this issue last year too. Whereas for years I always used to be a 9, I have been wearing 8.5 and even fitting in some 8s.

  21. A few things I like in the new arrivals, colorblock heels in Coral rose with tassel and F8291, color block sweater in grey, cotton, and camel. Why does the size medium have to be 22.5" in length??? Way to short for me, JCrew why can't you make your sweaters longer or in talls???

    ReplyDelete
  22. I really like the Mesh flats in Stewart plaid, but they're excluded from the promo. Any idea on sizing on these?
