Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. PSA - Emerson Fry is having a HUGE blowout on sweaters (not many left) and outerwear on their outlet site here: http://efoutletstore.com/coats-blowout

Most items are $150 and under.

    1. Such great items, but so many sold out yesterday during the early preview. If you follow Emerson fry's outlet on IG, you get early access. Everything I have purchased from EF has been a hit.

  2. I tried a few pairs of wool BR pants recently (after giving up on the Paley pant from JC ever going on sale. Never tried the Paley. Any JCAs like them?) From BR the Avery fit Italian wool gray crop pant and the navy lightweight wool boy crop. Liked the wool of both very much and both were fully lined! The Avery fit was huge - got my usual 8T and could have done a 6R or maybe even a 4. 8T in the boy fit was a touch loose but in a comfy way. Really flattering, can't wait to wear them when it warms up a little bit (no ankle pants for me when it's snowing). Photo of the navy ones on my instagram

    1. @Julie I have several pairs of the Paley pants and like them - my only complaint is that they don't have belt loops and since I need to size up to accommodate my hips, sometimes I find myself wanting a belt. I've been able to get them on promo pricing, usually at the season flip when they're cycling out colors.

BR pants have been my go to in recent years since J.Crew can be so hit or miss with me for pants - the cropped boy pants are one of my go to pants and you can usually get a good promo at BR. I haven't tried the Avery yet. I'm a 12/14 on bottom and go with the 14 in the boy fit pants and have the same - they're a touch loose, but not in a bad way. Off to check out your IG!

    2. I had a pair of the Paleys in the light grey & I just LOVED them. I sold them on Poshmark as they're too small now. I think I got them during a 40% off promo - one of the rare occasions that they were already on sale. I'd buy more for sure.

I wish we had a BR in town to go try on pants. I do like their Sloan fit but I know they just re-did that particular fit so I'm not sure what has changed.

    3. I really love the BR pants I bought earlier last year. They're lined which is nice for this time of year and they have the same slim leg fit of the Paley, but they aren't cropped, which is more my style. I think it was the Harper Fit. The wool is very similar to the Italian Stretch Wool by J Crew that I love above all things.

    4. After avoiding Banana the past couple years, I was pleasantly surprised by the newest offerings. I've been loving their jeans, and the new Ryan pant fits me really well. I'm a skinny pear, but Jcrew's pants are always cut too straight for my hips and butt. I also picked up a pair of olive Sloan ankle pants, which apparently have also been slightly updated. All for 40% off...I felt like I was stealing from them!

    5. Lili316, Banana used to be my go-to for many years, before they started trying to dress everyone in boxy outfits (made out of polyester, no less.) I bought about 5 things from them over the last 2 years, despite checking back often b/c my husband was still shopping there. Randomly looked at an email link for their new arrivals and went to check them out the next day -- was SO pleased! I tried on those Ryans (love the blue color.) They didn't work for me, but I found plenty of other things to love, at great prices, no less! Already bought a few Spring items (and I'm not usually someone who buys far in advance of the season!

  3. Everlane is doing another "choose your price" promo on a handful of items. Eligible items are scattered throughout various categories; if they're consolidated on one page, I couldn't find it. I don't watch Everlance prices closely, but I could swear the lowest price offered for the slim trouser now is actually more than the "full price" I paid a few months ago.

    1. Here's the link to the consolidated page. They also had a similar promo last month, but I think the prices were cheaper then. Can anyone confirm that?

    2. To me the prices seem higher than last go around. I got a pair of patent modern loafers for I think $69. The lowest today is $119. It was their first go around with the name your price in December so maybe they are adjusting according to results. I bought a few things and although I did choose the lower price on the loafers I did choose the mid price point for a few of the cheaper tops. It was only a few dollars and quality is usually good enough to warrant the cost.

  4. I've been loving Nordstrom Rack lately. I found a Mackage leather jacket there this weekend (posted a pic on Instagram), which I bought for 60% off.

Also, has anyone else noticed that Nordstrom Rack's website now carries J.Crew Factory stuff? It's mostly kids' and past-season stuff, but I thought that was weird.

    1. I've been wanting a grey leather jacket that is more soft and slouchy, but that jacket almost makes me want to search all of NR to see if it's there. Love oxblood.

    2. Nordstrom rack secret: Anything that's not on clearance at Nordstrom Rack is specially made/bought for the store which likely means compromise in quality....Anything from regular nordstrom that comes in will go immediately on clearance, but Rack also puts their own stuff on clearance after a time so clearance will always be a mix of Nordstrom and Rack stuff...it is fairly easy to tell an item from regular nordstrom...it will have a nordstrom tag or brand tag and then nordstrom rack red clearance sticker over it..i got some great regular nordstrom stuff at rack lately :)

  6. Land's End is having Friends and Family sale right now. I was very interested to see that they have a new "Designer Collection" coming soon - fits will be smaller and the shoes look very good.
