  1. Not so excited about this one. I was hoping it would be a tiered percent off, not a tiered flat dollar amount. I had $360 something in my cart so that's only about 20% off... was hoping for 30%. The good news in all these recent stepped back promos is I'm realizing I don't "need" certain things and am spending less at JC. :)

    1. I agree. I don't care for the tiered promos, especially as there isn't much I want. I certainly don't want or need $500 or even $125 worth of J crew's unimaginative offerings. I will wait for a better sale.

    2. Annoyance with this promo drove me straight into the arms of other retailers... trying out some cropped wool pants from BR (40% off sale and full priced merch over there) and also put in an order for some outdoor voices things (been wanting to try their things). At least with both these retailers I can return for free if I don't like.

  2. Canadians get 20% off. but no free shipping. forget it.

    1. so all weekend no additional promo for Canadians.
now 20% because its Family day in Alberta and Ontario. ( B.Cès was last weekend ) if they are now going to be giving us different promos form the US I am really miffed. with our dollar up here we will be saying goodbye to J Crew ...it will be too overpriced for seasoned J Crew shoppers and too $$ for new shoppers to try. Its back to loft, banana and others.

    2. I cant tell you how annoyed I am at the tiered promos! I think we should be emailing in our complaints or at least mentioning it to VPS's. Just my 2 cents.

    3. I still believe they are testing us with these short promos ( giving and taking away ) I have purchased zero ! as a JCA up here in Canada....I am just not buying right now because of this.....

    4. I was disappointed to see that the sale stuff in Canadian stores was included under the 20%-off (presumably), after it had been at least 30%-off (which still isn't great) for awhile.

  3. Okay JCA's I need your opinion.

I did a mock check-out, and the Collection sleeveless coat is included in the promo.

Is $175 off a good deal? Or should I wait for the coat to go on sale?

I did some calculations, and I have a feeling the price of the coat will be the same amount when it goes on sale +/-.

I have a reward and a credit to use towards this purchase which helps lower the price of the coat...

    1. If you love it, and I know you've been wanting it for awhile, get it. You can always get a price adjustment or return if you feel it's not worth it.

    2. I would get the PA now based upon the new promo and use your rewards & credit. Availability of your size is likely to become an issue and you'll be kicking yourself later since you love it. It's not final dale, so as Suz Has said you can always return it & you've got 60 days.

    3. I replied but it showed up below. :)

    5. I have this coat, and LOVE it!! I'm a deal-shopper, as it sounds like you are as well, and I have to admit: My husband got this for me as a birthday gift. So, I wasn't placed in your current dilemma. While I feel your pain, I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on this beauty.

    6. Thanks B Sheils! I've been obsessing over it since I first saw it on their runway show. Was then disappointed when I found out it wasn't offered in petite and the price. But to my surprise a size 0 works!
Do you own the cream or camel?

    7. JSR - It sounds like you really, really love the coat, so I think you should go ahead and buy it while it's on promo and not final sale. Then if you happen to be able to score it on down the line for a better sale price, you can always return the first one, but if not, at least you will have gotten a good deal AND the coat you love! :)

  4. I'm guessing since this promo lasts 48 hours new arrivals won't be on-line until Wednesday? I thought I read Tuesday in another thread. Does anyone know?

    2. Yup, new stuff comes out Wed, online!

      But....

A tip that might work; (this works for both time zones, PST & EST..East Coast if you can stay up a few minutes after midnight) - New stuff is rolled-out Tuesday night @ 9:15pm PST. With that, you might be able to use this tiered promo towards the new stuff. There's a magic hour between when the new stuff rolls out and when the site still allows a promotion to work for an hour before the expired date/time. Then again, all of this might not work anymore since they probably changed the way their systems expires/launches, etc.

  6. Hi JSR, I agree with Suz Has and Mygoddy I'd take the promo price now. Missing out on your size is def possible if you wait. I debated the same about the cocoon coat this year and ended up buying in store with a tiered promo (spent $500 and got the equivalent of 35% off) before Christmas. Glad I did because now that it finally went on sale (cdn price with % off) it is only $4 less than I paid and my size has been gone a long time.
Like Mygoddy said you have 60 days to return or rebuy and return which makes it a good idea to buy now IMO.

  7. OT but I used JCNYFW as inspiration for another look I wore out for Valentine's dinner with my family. Details here:
    http://wearthislikethis.blogspot.com/2016/02/a-little-nyfw-inspiration.html
I think a bright floral scarf would actually be a great accent taken from the inspiration.

  8. I placed a charge send order from Prince Street store to purchase a couple of new arrivals; I used them before to order the suede fringed skirt, so decided to go with them again since they seem to have better inventory stock. Maybe the restriction isn't for all JC stores. Think tiered promo is good for new arrivals. Was able to save 35% + educator discount + free UPS shipping. SA said stores should have new arrivals in stock now and she confirmed Wednesday for availability of new arrivals online.

    1. I'm dying to try out the Rayner chinos! I don't have a physical copy of the style guide; on the Rayner, does it say size XXS-XL, or is it size 24...? Does it matter I guess between letter sizing or # sizing? Hmm...

The Rayner jeans in white didn't work out for me since it's not petite.

      Delete
    2. @JSR what colors do they Rayner chinos come in?

    3. @JSR,@SuzHas, Rayner Chinos E9356 -Honey Brown- $98 - 000-16 - online only.

    4. Thanks. I was hoping for an olive green color. :(

    5. Thanks Nan! Darn number sizing... Hope a 2 fits cause it looks high rise. Gotta make room for the muffins. Hahha!

    6. @SuzHas, the only ones with a offering in "pesto" are the Skinny Stretch cargo pants $98 E9358 (also in honey brown, aqua sky, pale redwood)- 23-32.
The other item with a "fresh parsley" offering (and navy) is the A-line skirt w/pockets E7882 $88-online only-000-16.

    7. Thanks. A year or two ago I got this wider leg cargo ish pant with paint splatters. I absolutely loved the fit but the paint was too much for me. I've thought about those pants and wished they offered without the paint. (They may have and I missed them or was too frugal to pay full price). In the NYFW pics I see a wider leg army green pant, hopefully something similar will become available. (I happen to love that color with a black sweater, white button down or red vest—all items I wear all the time!)

    8. @Suz Has, Zara has a wide leg olive pant on sale for $10. Saw it in store. Here's a link. Still available in a few sizes.

    9. @mygoddy, thanks! I'm tempted, though I try to avoid so-called fast fashion brands. (Other than work out wear and I'm even shifting away there as well). I've never bought from there and don't have a store nearby. Hard to go wrong for $10, and I can crop them myself easily enough...any experience with their pants? They seem to run a size smaller than JCrew according to the size chart.

    10. @SuzHas, a suggestion.. Order two sizes , add something else to your bag to get free shipping ($50), try them on and if one works, great, if doesn't, you can return one or all free of charge .
      Their policy is great.
Recently I ordered a wide-leg pair of pants and a suede shirt ( not. RL but beautiful nonetheless ), both itens on sale but no restrictions to return them.
      Hth.

    11. That's a great return policy. I'll check it out! Thanks so much. Reminds me of prices from the days I used to shop at Gap.

    12. @Suz Has, I own a few pairs of Zara pants, so not a lot of experience. With that being said, I size up one.

    13. Thanks, I managed to find a few things I like and ordered the olive pants in two sizes plus the light denimculottes from the same page. They look a little shorter than I like, but i figured if they fit, for $10 I can undo the hem like I did on my other pants and they will be great for spring/summer.

    14. @SuzHas, great! Hope it works.
Let's us have a view of them when you get to try

  10. Sorry to be off topic but does anyone have experience with club Monaco? Do they usually offer more than 30% their sale stuff or is that as good as it gets? First experience with them. Eyeing a sweater but not urgent and am willing to wait if price goes down next month or they do like 40% off. Please chime in if u know ! Thanks!

    1. I don't have extensive experience, but will share what I've seen. The lowest % off since the new year has been 30%. They ran that all Jan, and had no extra % off sale until the last few days. I've gotten 40% off sale, but it seems to be offered fairly rarely. Items I've watched have gone many months without a second cut. HTH! Oh, and if it's not something you need urgently and you don't spend $150 to get free shipping, economy isn't super slow but saves $3 over standard.

      Delete
    2. they rarely do 40% off and when they do it's for horrible items and sizes are extremely limited. CM is probably one of the few brands where things I wishlist sell out at FP in my size

      Delete
  11. @JSR, style guides says 000-16. No petite listed. I tried to order from Prince Street; didn't realize they were online only. If you have a really good tailor, you may be able hem.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What's annoying with this promo is that you have to order the exact amount to in order to get the full percentage off. I mean $25 off $150 is not the same than $25 off $125. I would like to order the sailor Teddies because they are the only item from the last rollout that I want and I could wear right (they are HEAVY). But they are $110 so I have to find a $15 item that I am not going to return (so I am not "losing" on the discount. Any ideas?

    2. Ema, I know what you mean! For $15 are there any crewcuts items or a little something you need for a gift maybe? Times like this i pick up socks or a little something for my kids.

    3. I think I an going to go with the Laundress cashmere wash. I finished my bottle and ordered one on Amazon but it isn't the same (it's called shampoo and it smells like cedar) and I like the one offered on the Jcrew website better. Thanks for chiming in!

    4. Great idea, I love the laundress products. I use jcrew's for cashmere and the cedar one you mentioned for wool.

  13. so quick question if I buy exactly 500$ and promo applies and if I return something from the order does that mean that the other items still have 35% off discount? How does that work? ...

    1. Yes, you keep them for the discounted price you paid for

      Delete
    2. Your final order summary will list each item in the order with a discounted price (the total amount of the promotion is divided up between each item sold).
