  1. Looking forward to New York Fashion Week, as J.Crew will show fall 16 collection under head designer, Somsack.
I have high hopes, he better not disappoint.

    1. Do you know if the spring/summer preview we saw with all the off-the-shoulder tops was by Somsack? thanks!

    2. I read one of the sites, Popsugar or something, that it was still Mora's designs, that they had to edit so much to make it look up to par when shown at NYFW last September.

Fall 16 will be entirely under Somsack's direction. He worked under Marissa Webb and Jenna, and we all know how fabulous the clothes were....

    3. I didn't like Madewell under SomSack. So not excited.

  2. This is a combination love/vent. Today I'm wearing an oldie but goodie - the mixed media wrap pencil skirt from 2008 or 2009. It is leather on top and beautiful light soft wool on the bottom, fully lined in silk. It is one of my favorite garments and survives every closet purge. I wish J. Crew still made special pieces like this.

  4. I have two nice things to say about J Crew!

First, I wore my high rise lookout skinny jeans last weekend and I really like them. Unbelievably, one of my middle school aged daughters complimented me on them too.

Second, after being a regular customer for more than a decade, J Crew has finally realized I exist. I got a style guide in the mail this month and hilariously TWO gift cards in the mail for my birthday. Not sure what inspired the shift but I'll take it.

  5. I'm wearing the Collection Embellished Shirt in Narrow Stripe with my go to leather crop pants & slingback heels; this shirt is fantastic! I stumbled upon this shirt by accident when searching "collection stripe." For some reason it seems to be hidden as it doesn't show up in the sale section. Already planning to pack this shirt for a business trip next week. Highly recommend this one; limited sizes still available.

    1. You're right, I've never even seen this one! How would you say the fit is? Compared to say, the perfect shirt? Thanks for the tip, looks like a great piece.

    2. @TM93, I don't own any perfect shirts, so I can't say. IMO, the fit is TTS based upon other JC shirts I own. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck if you decide to go for it!

  6. I bought the shirt-jacket in ivory/navy this year and LOVED it. The fit, the feel. Wore it all the time. Finally decided I needed to wash it and threw it in the washer. Forgot it was in there and threw it in for not one but two dryer cycles (whoops). Took it out and immediately noticed it was wayyy smaller, and the thinnest white squares were all stretched out, as if the navy squares were holding them in place, if that makes sense. I was really bummed and checked the label. Yep dry-clean only. But it's a flannel shirt! Dryclean?!

Anyway, I wrote a bad review on the JC website, not expecting much to come from it. A few hours later, I got an email from JC offering to let me return the shirt for my money back, or if I preferred to keep it, an additional 10% back. I thought that was really nice! It wasn't their fault I didn't read the label! So I returned it and got $82 back. Even better, I found it on a better sale a few days later, and got it a new one for $54! I'm still not thrilled it's DC only but I'll wash it more carefully this time.

In other news, I was hoping to write a glowing review of the Chateau Trench but UPS gave my package to USPS 3 days ago and it's still not here! Maybe next week...

  7. I ordered the midi sweater skirt in regular size 10 with final sale. ( I was feeling lucky!) It's way too long on my 5'5' frame so I decided to take it to my store and beg if I had to to return it and order a petite. They took it and offerered to order the other one for me. So happy and I got the last petite. Well done Jcrew.

  8. I had an online chat customer service representative very kindly apply an expired promo on an item that popped back in my size only after the code expired (isn't that always the way?!). This made me a very happy camper. I would have been the happiest camper if they had waived shipping but I was quite pleased nonetheless. AND the item is shipping from Lynchburg so I'm hoping it arrives in good condition.

  9. I had a great customer service experience this week. I ordered a few final sale popbacks that were disapointments. I received a flannel shirt that already been laundered and a bracelet with missing stones. Since I was already emailing I mentioned two other items in the last few months that I had problems with: a necklace that arrived with a piece off and another that had been stored in a black velvet bag and had color transferred to the light color stones. Because these were sought after pieces and I am pretty handy in the crafting department, I can repair and repaint. Customer service authorized the return, issued credit and even sent me a gift card as an apology. Love Jcrew!
