Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! A review of the J. Crew Collection Campbell Blazer in Tartan HTH!

    1. Thanks for the review, Rynetta! The blazer looks gorgeous on you! :)

    2. Melissa: My pleasure! Thanks SO much!

    3. I have a plaid blazer from JCrew in similar colors to that, and there is something about the brightness of the yellow and red lines in the blazer you just reviewed that cheapens it to me.

      Maybe it's just me though.

    4. Actually no, it's not just Jessica. I don't like that yellow in the Campbell plaid blazer. So, I guess there are two of us out there in cyberspace. But to each their own, right?

      Delete
    5. Vava: To each her own indeed! I love the blazer.

    6. Rynetta - regarding the yellow in that Campbell plaid....it's definitely not just you. That plaid has been around for awhile now, and not just in J.Crew. I have the same exact plaid in a different wool jacket with the apparently controversial yellow from a several years back - from Marc Jacobs. So you're in good company!

    7. Mirielle: thank you! I really like the colors and the pattern. It's a gorgeous blazer in my opinion! I'll have to google the Marc Jacobs version.

    8. @mirielle -- I think what Jessica and vava are saying is that this is a jacket where J. Crew sort of cheapened the look of a more expensive, more refined and more classic look (plaid blazer) by making the yellow a *bit* too bright. And the red a *bit* too cherry red. Instead of using colors that were a little more muted and therefore more classic (like yellow that had a little more mustard in it and red that had a little more burgundy in it), they used colors that cheapened it. I happen to agree with this analysis. There have been some really stunning designer plaid jackets over the years (I am on a perpetual search for an R.G.B. one I saw at Scoop in NYC like 3 years ago), but J. Crew missed the mark on these colors.

    9. I love the yellow accent in this tartan ! its different from others...unique. Love it on Ryentta esp with the red blouse. C

    10. Actually, I don't think the colors cheapened the jacket, I just don't care for the colorway for myself. It's just a personal preference, and not intended to offend anyone. There is a lot to love at JCrew, but for me - this jacket didn't make the final cut for me. Actually most of the recent sale/rollout didn't resonate with me. I'm hoping next year will be better. Right now I am not completely loving JCrew because I don't like sweaters with acrylic and the sizing issues they have going on with pants are making me step back.

    11. Exactly Blakemdjohns! The result is the colors seem to sit on top of the main pattern and that doesn't lend itself to a cohesive look. I don't take issue with the colors themselves. My plaid jacket had a gold and burgundy in it.

If you like it, you like it. I won't argue with that. I just think the way they did it looks less classic and a bit more cheap.

      Delete
    12. Vava, I definitely understand your dislike of the rollout. For me it's too much plaid, and cheap looking plaid at that, bows, sequins, and Easter colored fair isle. I feel like they're designing for kids, not women. The men's section doesn't look like this.

Also all of the synthetic fabrics and blends.

      Delete
    13. C: thanks SO much! I think the red really makes the blazer pop!

      Delete
    14. I succumbed to this jacket. For me, the pops of red and yellow are what make the blazer special. This could be because my memory stretches back to the time when plaid jacket = frump. To me, without the strokes of color this jacket would say 1970s suburban mom in Pendleton or Talbots.

    15. I looove this blazer, bought it immediately and wore it immediately. It is gorgeous in person. The satin lapels are a beautiful touch. I will wear this for years to come.

    16. I love it, but I can't get away from the Schoolboy Blackwatch Blazer. I must resist :)

  2. No road trips for me this weekend, so I won't be able to visit the store. I have found some great deals online at J.Crew, Madewell, Nordstrom, Amazon, and a few other retailers though...love shopping the Black Friday sales at home in my pjs! :)

For those interested, I have a complete rundown of Black Friday sales taking place around the web today...check out the list here.

  4. I will not be visiting a store until Tuesday- I will not go to a mall on Black Friday.
The online Black Friday sale is a complete let down in my opinion! They chose limited styles for the 40% discount and not very popular ones at that.
I hope they do better on CyberMonday!

    1. Agreed! Also, they could have at least offered free shipping. I might have ordered a couple things if they did.

  5. I've been contemplating trying the Holly sweater so I was happy to see it was one of the few items that got bumped up to 40%. I'm going to order a size up based on the reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Check out my J Crew 40% Surprise post. I did some #salemath and also got measurements on a few items, incl the perfect cable sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The Frankie boots I wanted are 40% off, but tbh I don't think they'll sell out (normal colored shoes rarely ever do), so I'd rather wait for them to be on sale + 30% or 40% off.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No downtown trip for me today. There's nothing i want from this promo.

I did take advantage of Madewell's promo...though I wish it was 30%, instead of 25%.
I ordered the Rivet & Thread denim jumper, and the Penfield check flannel shirt. Both items are on sale + an additional 25% off promo. I've been eyeing both of these items for months, and I'm glad they're marked down. I love the colors of the check shirt. It received positive reviews online and I like how it looked on @komorebiw, after seeing it on her IG. Hoping both items fit!

  9. Tried on the chateau parka. I really loved it, but it got me thinking about Thinsulate. I felt like in the past, you could order most Jcrew coats with a layer of Thinsulate for an additional cost. I just checked the website and only the Lady Day coat has it. Bummer.....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, Gabriela. In the past, more coats were offered with Thinsulate. I always bought those coats.
But worse yet, I just went online, and so many coats are gone! I keep telling myself they will pop back, but I was ready to order.

  10. Honestly, I've always ordered j.crew with thinsulate---but the chateau parka kept me warm (with minimal layers- shirt, sweater, sometimes blazer, sometimes cami) during our cold DC winter. I bought a second color for this year. I also bought the factory version of the cocoon coat and I did not like the material--much lighter than stadium cloth-felt like melton-esqe --only good for about upper 50's with one layer underneath. It would not do well once it his below 50 (imo...). I bought the retail version with the current promo to really test out the difference.

    1. Also-- what ever happened to the "normal" priced wool/cashmere coats (with thinsulate). I had a couple that I just recently donated they held up well ripped the lining had it replaced but still looked good after almost 10 years. Wish they'd go back to that mix (with thinuslate and with out the mid section band like the lady day coat--just a straight form.).

    2. FAF, that's good to know that the stadium-cloth on the Chateau is substantial. I'm up in Pittsburgh, so similar climate to DC. I'm always wary of wool coats, but I'm looking for something more professional than my puffer coat.

  11. Visited the clearance store this morning. Small line but as soon as the doors opened we were in. Flats were $25.00 so I headed straight for the shoes. Glitter Gemmas, blush leather Gemmas, metallic gold leather d'orsay, fabric purple/maroon leopard Gemma (very different but pretty) and houndstooth Harper's from last year. Party shoes, yes! Two current felt hats, $10.00 each and top it off with the burgundy downtown field jacket and a few other miscellaneous sweaters and tops.

    2. $40.00. I spent about $300.00 total. I added up the full retail for everything and it was almost $1700.00. Love a good clearance store day.

  12. I think the in store surprise is a gift card--I went to georgetown today (a mad house...) and as I was making returns I saw the orange cards that said $25 off of---couldn't read the rest....

  13. Stopped into the downtown store yesterday but just couldn't find anything I really liked! Everything seemed meh to me - tried a few shirts and sweaters but didn't love any of it. Current stock just seems like a retread of nicer pieces I already have from years past, or so basic as to be boring - and with the new and unimproved Canadian prices, I have to love something to buy it. Couldn't even find anything interesting on the sale racks. So today I ordered my fourth (!) pair of Kiki flats from the website sale section as I really do adore those shoes and my stores don't carry them. It's a love affair in Italian leather, so kinky lol. If there's an even better cut on Cyber Monday I may go for a fifth...

  14. Just got my box for new arrivals ordered 11/24:
Brushed wool Plaid cardigan sweater- itchy runs big--going back 'cause I thought too trendy and not sure if it would be back 'in" next winter?

Campbell Wool Trousers- the elm color is nice--but once I took it out of the package i knew it wasn't gong to fit stretch or no stretch--maybe the crew is no longer doing vanity sizes :( an 8 was TOO small--i'd have to go up at least 2 sizes....not happening

Metallic floral clip top-I got this in white and green size 6- since there was no petite--sleeves a tad long but the white was beautiful-- but way to sheer and way to open...the v neck was fine until I moved my arms then it was like wowza...must wear a cami (but you'd still be able to see it even if it was nude) or sew in a snap/hook to keep closed. Then green was so cute too---but the pattern made it look like I was covered in clovers which would be great for spring or st. patty's day....so it's going back too---I may try it in navy--maybe it's dark enough for either wearing it normal or with a cami-w/o seeing the cami underneath.

Rhodes Blazer in houndstooth--Ok this was a disappointment, once I pulled it out of the plastic it already felt flimsy...the inside lining I thought was cheap...the patch pocket looked like I sewed them....they are sewed on top the blazer not hidden inside (does that make sense?) the only positive was the length. I tried on an old houndstooth from maybe two years ago (school boy) and although cropped, the quality was better.

going to try on the stadium cloth cocoon coat...but not sure if i'm going to keep it--like I said above I have the factory version in camel and in the back of my head I don't think I can justify having two chateau's ---maybe next year I'll buy the cocoon---also one thing I wish the cocoon had--snaps!! the zipper is a little annoying to get on when you're in a rush. Snaps would be nice and easy!

  15. Something I was stalking (the collar less leopard blouse) popped back this afternoon (glad I checked, I swear it wasn't there this morning) so I also ordered the brushed wool sweater in the cardinal/navy as a ride-along as I was curious about it and it is included in today's promo. I sized up as the reviews said that it is for small frames and I have broad shoulders. Will report back!

  16. Having a mild flirtation with the fair isle Tippi. Got nice price adjustments on this past week's impulse buys. Surprised by how much I like the "Black Watch Tuxedo pants in Crimson," a/k/a red plaid pants. Wondering what a Scottish genealogist would make of the names JC calls its "tartans."

    1. wellfedfred, I ordered the fair isle Tippi and it arrived yesterday. I love it so much I briefly considered ordering the other colorway but it is sold out. I am always a small in Tippis due to shoulders and this fit me TTS. Lovely colors, beautiful and thick merino. I would give it 5 stars if it had full length sleeves but the bracelet length sleeves are not too bad. J Crew should make more sweaters like this and abandon the weird blends that pill while sitting on the shelf in the store!

  17. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving & Black Friday! Went @ 8 am to avoid the crowds and to complete price adjustments. Nothing I must have right now. While in store, I did see the earrings Jenna wore on the Canadian show (loved the interview btw). IMO they looked cheap; I didn't bother to try them on since I wasn't interested anymore after the view. Did make some online purchase; picked up collection perforated leather pants in navy and grey v neck sweater w/brown leather sleeves. For < $35 it was a "no brainer." I love the navy perforated leather shell; turned out to be a great find, so hope the pants are a win too. There were pretty good sales at Lululemon, Nordstrom and Neimans. Picked up a few must have pieces since After Christmas sales will be better. Decided it was time to upgrade my Apple gadgets, so I picked up the watch and IPad Air 2. Now just need to pick up a couple of remaining gifts and I'll call it quits until After Christmas. I've had very good luck with JC this year for my gift giving.

    1. That makes me sad about the earrings. They are on their way to me this week and I was hoping they'd be awesome. I should have known -- the jewelry offerings have been SO cheap looking recently. Maybe I'll find something similar at a local shop today.

      Delete
    2. Yah....I was excited about the black earrings that Jenna wore in the interview but when I saw them in the catalog I knew I wouldn't be buying them. They look crazy...like a lot of jewelry they have been doing for the last few years it looks like a bunch of 5 year olds glued some stuff together. And $110.00! Too pretentious for me.

      Delete
    3. When I was college I used to wish I could afford to pick up more of the jewelry and now that I can it's awful.

I did get the Lucite-and-crystal bracelet, which is really pretty, but the I think is only worth the sale price.

    4. I can't say that I've noticed a change in sizing though. I still pretty much wear what I've always worn in JCrew, since about 2010. The Martie pant was really the only thing that hasn't fit in my typical size, and even that I didn't have to size way up, just one size up...I still hate that wool pant for other reasons.

I sometimes have fit issues, but not size issues. I find JCrew does not cut their bottoms curvy enough, I guess being woman shaped is out of style, so I often have large gaping in the waist.

Honestly I don't care what size I order, a number is just a number, I just like to have consistency, so that I know what to order online, especially since I often order petite and collection.

  18. Has anyone tried any of the wide leg cropped jeans? The point sur teddy buckle back or the Rayner? After trying on a few wider leg/higher rise pants I'm tempted but hate to order only to add to my pile of returns. I'm also considering the patio pant in black stretch cotton.

  19. I was able to catch the Edged lace blouse in marine salt on popback yesterday afternoon, and also added the Wool melton military coat with faux-fur collar, which has been on my wishlist since it first came out. Love that I got the coat at 50% off the sale price, too! There are a couple other items that I'm hoping will show up in my size before the promo is over, so the website stalking continues for now...

    4. Melissa - edged lace blouse looks pretty but I worry about how it will be worn. Seems like it would be pretty difficult to tuck in with a pencil skirt and it looks a bit sloppy as currently styled in the catalog...Is the only option to be worn with jeans or untucked with a pair of pants? Just wondering if you've received yours yet...Thanks!

      Delete
    5. Hi mirielle! I haven't received the blouse yet, but will be sure to post a review when I do. I'm not sure about tucking it in, but will try some different styling options when I get it to see what will work.

    6. Anthro has a similar blouse, called merletto lace button-down, that is probably easier to tuck in (but not as pretty the lace is grey and not "edged). It appears to be waitlisted (available next Saturday) but they are having free shipping on any order today so maybe worth a try
