J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I reviewed the textured windowpane dress awhile back. I created a new review with more info, including side-by-side comparison to regular vs petite.

    1. It's ironic because the stuff I liked the most (wait for it) isn't included.

  3. I love, love, love the long peacoat. I ordered it in the heather cloud color (grey, not heathered at all). It's a beautiful, light grey. The coat is sleek and chic and flattering and simply perfect. I feel fantastic in it. The color will go with so much and will stand out in a sea of dark coats (now I just need to not spill coffee on it).

    Also, just a heads up that Madewell is 25% off and, as TeriLyn13 mentioned, 30% almost everything at J.Crew (Chateau Parka is excluded, but y'all know my feelings on that coat!) I ordered the hand knit fair isle sweater in the lighter color way (peaches and yellows) and the black earrings that Jenna Lyons was wearing in the Canadian television interview. I thought they were stunning and told myself I have to at least try them on. And then I'm done for a while! I've had good luck with three stunning coats from J. Crew this season. A pair of full length pants and hopefully this handknit sweater.

  4. Collection textured jacquard dress in dusty seaglass (mint green). item E0173 This was very pretty - suffered from large armhole syndrome, but as long as one keeps her arms down, it's fine. . TTS, skimmed the body nicely, flattering. Just had nowhere to wear it too (it's a spring-y dress, which would work well for winter if accessorized properly), but couldn't part with $122 for something I couldn't wear that often and is 100% poly.

    Micropleated midi - not a midi, but nice! The flat top kept it from adding weight to the hips - you can even wear this with a top tucked in, like the models do, without looking awful. I ordered a regular (not petite size) and it just skimmed my knees - I'm 5-2. I got the pesto and navy and will be stalking the sepia for popbacks.

    Clover print dress in citrus floral: hideous, plasticky fabric (almost scuba like), and the regular (not petite) hit above the knee. This monster runs short and wide. The print is unremarkable - pretty - but the fabric ruins everything. Viscose, J.Crew, Viscose! Not plasticky & makes prints look pretty. Ask Boden about it.

  5. Merino turtleneck sweater with ribbed sleeves item E4398 in standard pink. As other reviewers mentioned, this sweater is really soft. Fits tts with a slightly loose fit. I can fit a lightweight tee under it, which is nice as it is a light to mid-weight sweater. The color is more saturated irl as compared to what I see on my monitor. Love it and am considering getting it in another color.

  6. Review of:

    The cropped matelasse jacket (C4171) in ivory.
    I really liked this jacket in the pictures online, and thought it would make a perfect cover up for the office when the air-conditioning is running at full speed. The matelasse texture seemed interesting, too. The reviews on the website were also very good so I decided to give it a try.

    I liked the cropped length of the jacket and also the thickness of the fabric even though it made it look a bit stiff/structured. The sleeves were sticking out a little due to the thickness of the material, but it did not bother me too much. I really liked the zip pockets. The texture of the matelasse was indeed interesting, but when I put the jacket on I couldn't shake the feeling that I was wearing grandma's quilted bed jacket (google it and you'll know what I mean :) made out of a matelasse bedspread. In addition, the springy/stretchy feel of the fabric (poly) turned me off. It went back the next day.

    1. Thank for the review Ivanka. I ordered the navy one to try before I read your review. I love the look in the style guide with the metalic shorts. Hopefully it will work for me.
