J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online). It must have been a small update because I did not notice it until I got the email announcement. ;)

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

I am genuinely excited about Fall. I can't wait to pull out my Regent Blazers and Field Mechanic Jacket. yey!

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I got the email too. I looked quickly and didn't spot much new. I will have to go back and have a closer look. I did notice the Collection Italian wool dress. It comes in 3 colors in regular. Only 2 colors for petite and 1 color for tall. And not the color I would have ordered. Sigh.

  2. The only new items that I noticed were the double-breasted blazer in wool flannel (c9130) made of wool/poly/spandex for $228, and the cute V-neck A-line dress (30068), made of poly. *shakes head*

Let's hope JC can put the brakes on this crazy train.

    1. That blazer has poly in it? DARN! I liked it until now....

  3. I am interested in the Twill Military Anorak Coat (although I don't know if it's new with this mini rollout or if it was in the last one). Not at full price, though.

  4. *yawn*...waiting of the big roll-out.

  5. I see a couple of things to add to my wishlist.
Double-breasted Flannel blazer is very cute. Would love to see more color options,
Regent Top Coat in pink. Wish I could justify buying another coat!
Falling Metallic Dots tee. Not sure if this is new.

  6. I can hardly wait to wear tweed wool pants and cashmere sweaters! I picked up some Bowery slims in herringbone, along with some cashmere sweaters from Club Monaco but it's still too warm for those.

Luckily the cotton Bowery slims and the favourite washed shirts are doing a great job for me.

    1. I saw those pants and they are simply so classy! My husband has a similiar pair, so I won't be buying that for him.

    2. Those pants are great! I wish I could get my husband to dress that way.....oh well, he may not be stylish but he has many other great qualities. LOL.

    3. Thanks ladies, they are really sharp, but way too warm to wear yet.

The cotton Bowery slims are very nice and they have some great colors. Fingers crossed there is a percent off regular priced items this weekend. I have my eye on a shirt and doesn't everyone love a deal?

    4. My husband bought the cotton Bowery slims and he's in love with this style. He bought them in all 4 colors and can't wait to wear them since it's still a tad warm to wear where we live.

  7. What a crappy way of getting my hopes up. Sigh!

  8. I stopped by the Madewell concept store (still at GSP Paramus) today and saw some super cute coats. Loved one in particular that was (I think) wool in front and heavy (maybe cable?) knit on back and on the sleeves. Other cute outerwear items, as well. I'm sorry I don't have better descriptions, but I'm moving to the west coast next month and can't look too closely at cold weather items, as I know none of them are in my fashion future, which sort of makes me sad...but not really!

    1. It must be an error. I keep refreshing the page...their update is so slow

    2. Just updated to 30% off of $125 + order . . . but the cape I want is excluded! Grrr! I hate exclusions!

    3. Finally can order the turtleneck sweater I want. I ordered it in black, navy and dove grey. Am I being over optimistic? I hope they are perfect. Keeping my fingers crossed. Also need to call Madewell for price adjustments on things I just ordered. I really wasn't sure if Madewell would run a Labor Day discount.

  10. Madewell is 30% off sale + 30% off select fall essentials. I ordered a jumpsuit I've been eyeing (the Carroll Tank Jumpsuit), the Biltmore Fedora that someone here mentioned the other day, a pair or tights and two pair of cozy looking socks.

    1. Oops, I also just hit submit on the J. Crew leather tank top (in two sizes to try). They'll likely (hopefully?) both go back, but if it's *amazing* I'll keep one (at $245, it's pricey, but not insane). It's a pretty cool and different piece, and I'm trying to justify it by saying it will probably keep me pretty warm, too.

This is the type of shopping that should make my credit card company call me later this morning!!

    2. I just took advantage of the Madewell promo to order some jeans I've been thinking about (the kick out crops in the Thom wash), a new sweater (chronicle texture sweater in compass gold, that color looks so pretty on the web site) and a couple of inexpensive bits of jewelry.

I have a few pieces of Madewell jewelry, and constantly get complimented on them. They look a lot more expensive than they are.

    3. Thanks for commenting on Madewell's jewelry. I've been thinking of ordering a piece or two, but wasn't sure how great they would look IRL or how well they would hold up. Stonehold pendant, Starstruck Chain and Mini Coinmix necklaces, among a few others, are all on my wishlist. I like too many, can't decide which to get.

  11. Banana Republic has a nice promo going on. 40% (and some 50% off ) exclusions apply. A few days ago I placed an order and was having difficulties with the web site not doing discounts, etc. so I called. The c/s person was super nice and did my order over the phone and for my trouble gave my 20% off on two items that weren't on sale. The Lydia Booties which I got in grey....they are gorgeous! And the Emma camo/orange scarf....love it! I ordered the Mixed Media top in washed stone. It's something out of the box for me and I really like it but I have to call for a price adjustment because it's 50% off now. Well as much as I would like to say I'm the type of gal who could do a capsule wardrobe, I would be lying....I like clothes too much! But I'm trying to concentrate on filling gaps, updating my style, adding more casual everyday clothes and stop buying "fantasy" garments for that women I'm not. Along with my complete closet cleaning, reorganizing, adding new storage units, I'm pretty pleased with my progress so far.

    1. Stray Cat, BR/GAP/Athleta has one of the worst web sites around when it comes to checking out. I've never not had a problem. That is very nice that she gave you a discount!

Question for you - I've purged a lot from my closet. Now I'm worried I won't have enough variety left. I've kept a lot of practical/boring things that fit well. Have you run into that?

  12. Hi Cate,

I can relate to your situation. I purged all my printed pants, printed skirts except one (that white pencil skirt with the gorgeous blue Delft like print on it), all tees with words or do-dads, dresses I now longer wear or were printed or strange colors and things that were too big or just ill fitting. I kept all my gingham and paisley blouses. That left me with a lot of very basic solid color things. But for me I realize that is what I wear the most. I have LOTS of scarves to add color and jewelry too. I especially love a huge cuff bracelet and cool earrings. In my cases I needed to add some non-traditional tops and sweaters to update my jeans and basic bottoms (most of my existing ones are Tippis and cardigans in classic shapes), some cute booties and shoes for winter (my boots are equestrian style and I need to break out of that look for something "cooler") and I added a bucket bag...but in red for fun. I love a classic look but sometimes I think it can "date" me....(I'm 58 but everyone thinks I'm 48) if I don't pair things with more fashionable stuff. I'm trying to get out of the comfort zone of always wearing fitted classic cuts for some more loose unfitted bigger profiles. I don't like sloppy, but more relaxed. I don't go to an office, so that isn't a factor in my choices. So I guess my "look" is basic pieces with some flair in shape, great scarves, jewelry, handbags and shoes/boots. These are the items I hope to find for fall:

big oversized cowl neck sweater in medium gray or marbled grey.

something in mustard. Jeans, chinos, sweater....

    gray handbag

statement belts to wear low on waist over sweaters

tweed school boy or hacking jacket

MORE huge cuff bracelet. Cause I NEED more...ha!

More khaki/army green things. Just ordered some army green nail polish off Amazon.

Cate, hope you get inspired on what you need to add. I'm having fun....and spending too much...oh well!

    1. Thank you !! That was very helpful. I don't have many wardrobe holes to fill, which is probably why I'm not too excited about the J. Crew rollouts lately. They haven't been bad, but I haven't needed what they're selling. I guess I'd better take a look at my jewelry and bags again (I don't wear scarves except in winter). Remember how you said J. Crew vintage tees multiply? So do gingham and paisley/Liberty blouses here :) I can't seem to part with them though. Maybe some day.

    2. Also, I purged almost everything that was orange (except kept my orange 5" chino shorts, technically "Modern Red"). Whenever I wear orange, I wish I didn't - it's not a good shade on me. I like when a purging decision is easy, and that was an easy one.

    3. I laughed when I read about your gingham and paisley blouses. I have about 9 gingham blouses and I already purged 2! I can't get rid of them either! I had a really good shopping day. I stopped in at Banana and bought the Soft Wash Olive Utility shirt. I love it! I ordered a couple shirts like it from the Crew this year and they were both just awful. But this Banana one is substantial in weight, nice length and color and on sale too! I tried on the Turtleneck Zip tunic in mustard. I love the color but I was mustard from my chin to my upper thighs. That's a lot of mustard! I saw a cute black cross body purse (Cross Body Pouch) and inquired if it came in gray and it did and was on sale for $75.00 so I ordered it! Then a found a tweed men's fedora (with mustard in the pattern) and a nice wide leather belt at TJ Maxx. Then I went to the Goodwill to drop of more purged household stuff and went in to look around. WHOA! I found a really nice weighty knit long V-neck zip cardigan in a marled mousey brown/gray by Madewell ($7.99), an oversized men's sweater in dark charcoal by J. Crew ($9.99), a nice dark rinse fitted denim jacket by Levis ($14.99) a black Banana Republic knit sweater with leather block pockets on front ($12.99) a chunky knit gray infinity scarf from Old Navy ($3.99) a gray/black cheetah print pullover fitted knit sweater by Halogen ($9.99) and an Italian lambswool long ribbed knit MUSTARD scarf! I think I've checked off almost everything on my "need" list! Dang I love days when everything seems to be right there waiting for you to find!
