Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No. Just found out yesterday that my regular store (GSP) is no longer the concept store. :( Now there's nothing new until the middle of July.

On the upside, it means that I won't be buying all of the brand new things super early, only to have them go on sale before I've had a chance to wear them because the weather hasn't cooperated.

Concept store has been moved to NYC (Financial District, perhaps?). Maybe Mickey decided that those of us in NJ just weren't hip enough to test out the new new stuff. ;)

    1. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you lost the concept store. I wonder where in NYC it landed too...the Financial District location in South Street Seaport never re-opened after Hurricane Sandy, there's a Limelight Shops store there now. So sad, wasn't that the first-ever J.Crew store or something like that?

Maybe it's the new Brookfield Place location in Battery Park City? I would love to know!

    2. Sorry to hear that, Gina. The Brooklyn Place location is very business oriented - understandably so. Nothing but suits, dresses and button downs, and a few other items. Since it is a new location, the sale section is tiny. They also have kids and guys, but I haven't checked it out, but based on the women selection, looks like I won't shop there too often.

  2. Yesterday, anon mentioned that Mickey is unloading real estate. Here's the NY Daily News piece about it - he is trying to sell three houses with collective price tags of over $140 million. Yowser.

  3. I hate it when I have to unload three houses at once. Such a hassle! ;)

    2. Yes, very funny Gina and Wellfedfred. I know I sold and bought a house last year, very stressful and certainly not all those zero's on either of my 2 transactions.

    3. I'm in the process of selling one right now, which is why I keep eyeing things (mostly J Crew) in my closet that really don't need to make the move with me. I know I should be focusing on all of the extra (heavy) furniture that I don't want to pay to move, but it's so much easier to list, pack and ship sweaters! #avoidingtheinevitable #omghowdoigetridofacouch

  5. In other J. Crew news, the hits keep coming. A VP Instagrammed his way thru the night after last week's firings. It made the NY Post front page, I believe. There are a few articles. I read this one on happyplace.

Alejandro Rhett is the VP of men's merchandising and did some of the firiing. He's taking a beating on J. Crew's FB page. I agree with one commenter that J. Crew needs to make a statement about this. The way they handle things is so bizarre.

Lilly Pulitzer recently had the issue w/the fat shaming cartoon and while I don't know if the creator was fired at least the company made a statement about it.

In a rush. Little fingers are tapping on me and on the keyboard while chanting in sing-song. The perils of not taking people to school on time!

  6. I definitely going to see some new arrivals.

Last weekend the sale items were discounted a further 40%.

  7. Next week I get the last of my ordering frenzy and then I'm sure I'll have returns to make. My love of J. Crew is slowly being suffocated out of me due to all the crappy fabrics, fluctuating sizing, too many trendy do tads, too short, too sheer, if I see one more exposed zipper I'll scream, pricing games.... ..and now ugly management antics. I think it's time to give myself a break from the Crew.

  12. Off topic, but I'm wearing a light silk blazer from spring 2010 JCrew (Zoey blazer, I think?) and sort of loving it. It is unlined, but has lovely finished seams all inside, real buttons a the cuffs, good silk fabric.

JCrew, I don't want to quit you! I want you to come back from all this.

  13. Stopped in today to make returns. Returned 6 items purchased 1. The tropical frond seaside pant. I sized down one and like the fit and the $35 price. Other than that nothing in the sale section interested me and there was a lot of it. Saw some new arrivals but not all had come in it. Gone are the days when I could spend an hour in the store. I am in and out.

  14. Just a friendly reminder that there are likely only 10 days or so until Final Sale returns, if previous patterns hold.

    1. I doubt it will return...business is not doing so well, they don't want to disappoint their customers with the dreaded Final Sale.
Then again I could be wrong.

    2. I was wondering about that too. Seems like final sale has been gone for longer than the usual interval. Fingers crossed it stays away. I love being able to try things and not have to worry about crazy size variations.

    3. I think J Crew must be wondering how all the negative press is affecting them...even if final sale is delayed (or gone? I am not shopping there for more reasons than poor quality now. They need to change the image people now have of them....and maybe some top heads will roll ( not the hard workers in the stores and warehouses.

    4. It seems as if Final Sale is reserved for items that are 50% off now. Or 60% - I purchased something a couple weeks ago when they ran this promotion. Otherwise, the 30% or 40% still nets items that are returnable. So glad I'm able to try out sale items that I never would have purchased if FS.

  15. Factory store had 40 to 50 percent off, 60% off clearance and additional 25% off all that with J.Crew credit card. I did buy a few things super cheap.

  16. Over 3000 items in women's sale this am, including some wacky pop backs. I ordered 7 items, guessing I'll get at least 3 "wish we had enough" messages and each of the remaining items will ship separately.

    1. I saw that, did the same thing, and had the same thought :) I'll probably just end up keeping the belt from the order, but there were a few things I wanted to try, and since they weren't Final Sale and the price was good, why not. Good that J. Crew is trying to move this stuff, though.

    2. Too bad the stuff I want hasn't been marked down yet.

  17. If anyone sees the cream colored Harper tassel mules in their store, please email me. My store doesn't carry shoes and I'm trying to track these down. As you know, J. Crew isn't very helpful in finding things that are on sale! I'm looking for 7 1/2. Mrsnonia@aol.com.

  18. Listened to a store manager today tell another customer that new head designer from madewell will have his first collection in spring/summer 16. That's when we will see his influence and that it will be a complete and total return to classics and basics.

    1. Referring above to the designer that is coming to Jcrew....I forget his name. The conversation was in relation to changes at Jcrew happening by next spring.

    2. His name is Somsack. He'll most likely debut (his) designs this September, during NYFW for spring '16.

    1. Not sure about Jenna, but Drexler is financially tied to the company. According to a Bloomberg article from 2014:

"Drexler invested $11 million of his own money when he was named CEO in 2003. In the 2011 buyout, his stake was worth about $301 million -- he pocketed $202 million of that and rolled the rest into an 8 percent stake, according to company filings. He also got $55 million in dividends as part of the $681.5 million J. Crew has paid the owners since going private.

In all, Drexler, 69, has accrued about $380 million since becoming CEO, including options awards, salary and bonus, according to company filings and a Bloomberg News analysis. He and his private-equity partners have recouped over half their $1.23 billion investment."

One would think, they would spend "packet change" to improve quality of their merchandise. When I speak to my colleagues about J.Crew, I get asked do I feel like a fool filling the owners' packets with $ by buying that overpriced one-season, made-in-china fad stuff....Oh, well.....

Great read, especially from a financial/business angle, if anyone is interested

  21. Went to Willowbend store to get price adjustments on online purchases; found a couple of cotton tees for under $10, tropical frond cami for $33 (it's really cute/fits well) & the mixed tassel earrings for $17. Store will match online pricing so drawstring linen shorts, which are still full price in the store, were $17 in store. Just discovered stores will no longer waive shipping fee on sale items; this was a perk I often took advantage of when the stores didn't have my size. There was a large sales selection. Prices are really good @ J Crew right now; even found some really good buys within online items for the fall like the merino wool skirt & the merino cardigan for under $55 for both. I only buy from J Crew when there's a super sale, so I'll at least be interested through the 4th of July, assuming the sale promotions continue.
