Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Hi JCAs. if you missed when J Crew got called out on Instagram -- see the bottom of the mixed stripe sweater post.

And reviews here of the sequin firework top, firework floral pants & collarless poplin popover. I don't know that I'll be visiting a store this weekend. I'm going thru some style issues & questions, which I mentioned at the bottom of that post. Join the discussion!

  2. I stopped in yesterday just to see if one thing was in the store (of course, it wasn't) and I was immediately pounced on by a SA asking what I thought of the new collection. I told him that I wasn't completely familiar with every item, but how very disappointing to see that finally we have longer skirts, but with bulky ugly elastic waistbands, which I told him I hate. I also said I don't wear pastels and there seems to be a lot of them. He just said "thanks for your input". I really wonder what they do with our "input"? Anyway, I ordered my backordered item and left. Then I went to Land's End and bought a new black knit travel dress. Something I really needed...ha!

    1. I think they do pass along the feedback. I think they have telephone conferences weekly just for that reason. Whether or not they are listening is yet to be determined...

    2. Stray Cat, I think Land's End dresses are highly underrated! They are flattering workhorses that travel well, which is generally not true of J.Crew dresses. LE has Friends & Family going now if anyone is interested, 25% off entire order and free shipping over $50 (Regatta Leather Bucket Bag in Stone is gorgeous).

    3. They are also machine washable and never in my experience go the final sale route. The only thing I have found in some of the knit dresses is that I have been sized out in petites but a good tailor can take care of that.

    4. Yes....I got a nice black sleeveless fit and flare knit dress. It's a nice heavy knit and has a nice fitted bodice and flared skirt. I really like that it's a heavier knit so it will keeps shape especially if I'm going to be sitting for hours. I like their dresses because they are long enough for me and not very expensive. My dress was around $55.00 after the 25% off. Perfect for a travel dress!

  3. OT ...online J Crew just copied Ann taylors pant guide. Maybe they could have just tried a little to be more orginal. just saying. But i am sure some will find it helpful. I know pretty much all of J Crew pants are ill fitting on me.....my shape must be just be weird i guess.

  5. Did anyone order any new arrivals on Wednesday? If so, have you received a shipping notice yet? I am hearing crickets!!!

    1. i ordered three things:
      SKINNY STRETCH CARGO item b8708
REID STRAIGHT JEAN IN WERNER WASH item c1006
      TRIANGLE CHARM NECKLACE item c7072

the skinny cargo pants shipped that day and i received them yesterday. they came from a store in PA (i live in NJ). FYI: i REALLY like them. took my usual toothpick jean size. they have lots of stretch and are skinny but they def don't feel tight. if it weren't single digits here, i'd find a way to wear them now.

the jeans and necklace haven't shipped yet. assuming they're actually coming from a warehouse.

    2. I ordered something Wednesday morning and it arrived yesterday. Not the whole order, but I think a few things were backordered.

    3. I ordered 4 items on Wednesday (striped tee, lace applique tank top, striped midi skirt in petite and the structured mini skirt). The mini skirt is waitlisted and just this morning I got a sorry we wished we had more cancellation for the midi skirt. The other two tops haven't been shipped yet although they have taken the money out of my account. I think they are behind or something because I was hoping to have my order by today and nothing.

    4. The VA area got a lot of snow according to my online VPS, so that could be the reason for the delay.

    5. Yes, they did say that when I called.

    6. Yes, nothing I ordered Wednesday has shipped. For that matter, an item I ordered Monday only just shipped today. I do have a pending UPS J.Crew item in my UPS app that says it's ready for UPS so they should be close to shipping...

    7. I just got something delivered by UPS today due to bad weather that was shipped out of Jcrew on February 11th.

    8. Whoa! I just got a shipping notice for the other two items i ordered Wednesday.

      Not bad! :)

    9. I ordered the Ribbed Cotton Cardigan in Faded Wisteria (love), the Ribbed Shimmer Sweater (sparkly) and the Tux Popover Tunic all on Wednesday. They arrived today on the West Coast. That never happens.

    10. I think some of the problem with backordered items is the dock strike on the West Coast. It's been in the news almost every night. Take a look around the malls- everyone is suffering a bit from this.

  6. Thanks ladies. I may call and see what they say, it just says 'open' online.

  8. Hi has anyone tried on or seen the yellow spring swing jacket? Thx!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes! Adorable but a little too much fabric and too wide at the hem for me - I'm looking for a spring rain jacket, but I don't need accentuation there. Some JCAs will rock it for sure.

  9. Stopped by today and found much to love. And much to not love too. The striped midi skirt is gorgeous, has pockets (!) and fits tts to large due to the elastic waist - took the smaller of my sizes. Looks great with a variety of tops. Already had the structured flutter tee but picked it up in the other colorway, love this little top. And liked a lot of the navy striped tops - even the one with the silver flowers... will wait for a sale on those. The drawstring short-sleeve sweatshirt was cute but I need to figure out how to wear it. The tweed stripe drop-waist dress fits like a dream on curves, doesn't squash the bust and the waist is in the right place and it's not too short! Really disappointed in the sequin floral sweater, it is gorgeous but fits like a big short tent.
No sale in store on reg price merch, but sale room is extra 40% off (not that there was much there). On the other hand, the SA quietly gave me 25% + 15% off at the cash on the skirt and tee "because it's you" :)

  13. Has anyone tried the the Blured Ikat Drapey Pant (style# b5336)? I'm intrigued by them but really hate risking final sale. TIA!

    1. Ditto. I'm wondering what is so wrong with them that there is an almost full size run stock left...they are selling at times for 50% off.

I so hate final sale which is why I have nearly switched to Nordstrom for sale clothing.

      Thank you.

    2. Yes the full size run is a bit disconcerting.

  14. What do you all think about their 20s/30s/40s/50+ campaign that was in the Style Guide and is on the web site?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Cate, For me I don't usually follow those suggestions, but I like looking at it. I usually like a piece or two from every age. I think it doesn't matter what age it is coming from; if it makes a woman happy, and it makes her look and feel confident and good, more power to her. Harper's Bazaar does this 20s/30s/40s/50+ campaign, too. I'm 39, and there are pieces I like from each age.... :)

      Delete
    2. I always like to see clothes on real women and not just models. I think one of JCrew's strengths is that many of the pieces can work for many different ages depending on how it is styled. Blazers, perfect shirts and shoes come quickly to mind. I consider the campaign to be fun even if I don't take the recommendations seriously. I, too, wear what I like and what I think it age appropriate.

    3. I liked it. As a woman in my 40's, I appreciate them not marginalizing us and gearing everything toward people in their 20's.

      Delete
    4. Thanks ladies! I thought they might put their foot in it, but I thought it was pretty good. They're smart to expand their marketing to a wider age range (and to advertise it that way too).

  15. OT, but I just noticed this article from earlier in the week in one of the UK papers regarding J Crew's FW collection at NYFW, where Jenna Lyons asserts at that 'sequins are the new black'... um, okay Jenna.

  16. I really love the French Lace shirt, but $595? No thanks. Not in my budget.

I scooped up the Mar Y Sol tote in Multi from Anthropologie last year on super sale, and I could not recommend it more! It's a great beach/summer tote. I have my eye on the navy.

I wanted to love the Eyelet Panel Sweater, but it's so not flattering. I tried it on in store last week. It's strangely cropped on me and has a preggo-like effect. It's a beautiful knit, though.

  17. I agree with ShOperarach review of pants. I thought the new pants were dreadful. I am pear shaped and they were a horrible fit. Glad I have my old Crew pants from seasons ago. If you have no curves at all, they will be fine. Plus side, colors are very nice.

Jewelry is back to the old Crew, as well as some sweaters and tops. Overall, not much in the store I was looking for. Most of the items I wanted were online. Hopefully they will ship one day...... must be the snow delay.....

  18. Does anyone know what the % off sale no the stores... ?? I bought cashmere legins @20% off.. My store in Manhatan by phone said I can adjust to the store sale price

  19. I am intrigued by the factory jacquard pants in the navy berry. Has anyone seen/tried them on? If so, would love a review.

    1. @savvy shopper I saw the factory jacquard pants in store last week and they were the only thing that caught my eye. I'm a 12/14 in Factory pants and I couldn't even get the 12 on my leg...so I ordered them and I should have them this week. I'd be happy to do a review when I get them. They're a really pretty print - not lined but the print is stitched in to the pant. I hope they work out.

  21. Tried the Martie pants and the Hayes metallic sandal in the store today. The Marties are really great. I'd say they run true to size, not large like the Campbell capris. They're more professional looking than the Minnies, which were too clingy and tight-like for my work. I liked a looser fit in them and hope that they won't stretch out too much. Those Hayes sandals are beautiful. Not Italian, but well made. They stuck to my feet when walking, ran true to size, even a teeny bit generous, and the gold metallic was really lovely. Not garish, not too subtle. I don't know why JCrew would run a card member promotional that doesn't work in stores. They're just cannibalizing their own sales. I tried things on in the store and came home and ordered online. All's square as far as the corporation goes, but what about my local store and local salespeople, who were lovely?

    1. The promo didn't work in store? It did last week, or did they change the promo? My store matched whatever was on sale online.

    2. I found the Hayes to run a half size too big and had to size down
Agree, they are lovely, esp in the metallic.
