It is nice to see this type of promotion back at J.Crew! Honestly, the sale section doesn't seem the same without an additional percent off. ;)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are excited to get? Please share!

  1. Several popbacks from long ago have already sold out. Hope an early rising JCA got lucky!

  2. My store yesterday was completely empty. Not one person in there shopping. My nice SA gave me the new "style guide" though. Nothing too inspiring in it for me.

  3. This post probably belongs in the vent thread but this new weekendmust promo has been a bust for me. I tried unsuccessfully to place an order with the promotion from midnight until 1:30 AM Eastern. The promo was listed on the site but they didn't load it into the checkout screen! By the time they finally got their act together, everything that I wanted was sold out! Maybe instead of getting rid of Mickey or a designer they need to get rid of their IT department! Jcrew I'm tired today and it's all your fault:(

    1. If you ever have a problem you can place the order then contact customer service and they can fix it for you. Just email them the order number and the promo that isn't working. Email has been very fast response for me lately - like under an hour.

    2. Plus, the great deal on the Downing Tote got fixed, hope some JCAs were able to place orders at the low price.

  4. I was really hoping for a universal percent off for Valentine's Day, not this tired promo they're run before. I was in the store last weekend and it was empty, nobody checking out. Who is buying at full price? There are so many things I'd get for my honeymoon with even just 25% and my rewards card. I just can't bring myself to pay full price for any of it. So aggrevating.

  5. I bought the Collection Scoop Back Top in red a couple days ago. I asked CS to adjust the price to reflect the 40%. I hope they honor it. I had to buy it right away since there was only one in stock. I have been wanting that top since November...

  6. Does anyone happen to know if JCrew is continuously updating stock online? I feel like they have been, but don't want to constantly refresh their website every few hours if that's not the case. I know they use to only do it in the middle of the night. TIA!

    1. Greetings Nancy - It seems like they do. Morning is still the best time to look at the website, but I've scored several formerly out of stock items by randomly checking throughout the day. Still stalking a few . . . good luck! Jennifer

  7. The 25% off was running in stores yesterday, I picked up the structured flutter tee (which isn't really a tee imo) for $40 with the education discount on top. Sale was still 30% off but not much caught my eye, though was pleasantly surprised by the sequin-hem sweatshirt in the blush - didn't think I'd like this one, but I did and for $35 couldn't argue. Lots of the pinstripe skirts/ dresses on the sale rack, strangely I don't think anyone wanted a lightweight poly item in February in Toronto...

  8. For Chicagoland JCAs, the Gold Coast J Crew and other participating stores will give a 9.25% discount upon presentation of the "900 N Michigan Shops Tax-Free weekend". flyer. (Guest services should have extras). There are probably exclusions - but IMO every little discount helps. FWIW - Max Mara, Kate Spade & Club Monaco are on the list; Bloomies is not.

  9. Placed an order for a couple of cashmere tees that I had been thinking over, the tailored wool pant, drapey wool sweatpant, drapey keyhole tops, pair of toothpick jeans, and a few pieces of jewelry.

But I do have a piece of bad news for some of you ladies: just found out that J.Crew is discontinuing the Tippi sweater. Definitely sad news for me as it's my wardrobe staple. I have read a few reviews of the Tilly sweater (which is supposed to be the Tippi replacement) and it hasn't been very positive. I haven't tried it yet myself, but based on how it looks frumpy on the models, I'm not enthusiastic about the prospect.

    1. Ugh. I had a feeling that this was coming. J. Crew is flat out getting it wrong if they eliminate the Tippi sweater. #whomakesthesedecisions?

    2. Seriously stupid. I'm glad I stocked up, and I'll continue grab colors I don't have until it's gone.

      Delete
    3. ridiculous! the tilly is too short and the tippi is perfect. in other words, they are going to discontinue the tippi now and bring it back not quite as good in about a year?

      Delete
    4. I'm confused about J.Crew's strategy as well - eliminate the Tippi so it doesn't compete with the Tilly? I hope they do bring it back next year after they realize their mistake, Lillian. And Rynetta - you called it last year when you thought J.Crew may be discontinuing the Tippis. I'm going with Blakemdjohns' strategy; I can't get enough.

    5. That would be very sad news, I have so many but they are perfect for our weather and I too will be stocking up. But J Crew tried that with the Cece replaced it with that other shoe who's name I can't remember and never purchased.

      Delete
    6. That's a bummer - I think lillian is right on point. They'll bring it back in a year to much fanfare, and it will be cut slightly smaller and be some kind of blend instead of 100% merino. Same price, of course.

      Delete
    7. ugh, agree that they'll just bring it back with way inferior quality. I like the tippi but actually never wear mine in Winter since they lack full length sleeves, but like them for Spring and Fall. The Tilly is just ridiculous -- I'm 5'10" so I refuse to even try one on!

      Delete
    8. If they dc the Tippi that might be the end of J Crew for me. Seriously. It's one of the few well-fitting, nicely shaped, reliable items they still produce. I love the beautiful colors and I can mix and match them with some of the more trendy items (jewelry, scarves, etc) for interest.

If they don't believe that items like the Tippi are valuable as core staples of their business, there is no hope for them.

They can keep all their dropped shoulder, boxy, trapeze shaped, sloppy messes. I want to buy clothing that flatters my slim pear shape but still looks youthful and fun. I am not willing to sacrifice fit to be on trend.

There doesn't seem to be a place for me at the Crew right now. Sad.

    9. Mulligan, I so agree! The Tippy is one of those J. crew "essentials" (I'm not going to call them "classics" as that word typically precipitates that same old new-JCrew-vs-old-JCrew circular discussion) that are loved for their FIT. And great colors.

I put Tippys, Perfect Shirts, Schoolboys, Pencil Skirts, Cafe Capris and most JCrew outerwear in that category. Superb fit that is flattering.

    10. I haven't had a Tippy sweater yet, but based on the rave reviews and the pending discontinuation of them, I decided to order a couple and see what I think. I prefer a full length sleeve, but with 'make it work'.

  10. I would like the Tilly's longer sleeves if it just had the Tippi's longer length! I guess I want a mashup! Thanks for the info Shoelove!

  15. OT - Did anyone see pics on Instagram #thenewBR - Banana Reublic showed at NYFW, yesterday. The designs under Marissa Webb's direction = Perfection. Well executed and styled. The colors are nice-mint, greys, royal blues, camel, blk/whites, maroon. It really reminded me of J.Crew when Marissa was head designer. Although I wasn't wowed by their accessories, shoes in particular. There is really something special about J.Crew's shoes that I like so much.

I have high hopes that J.Crew's show this coming Tuesday will be better than BR; or else, my $ will go to BR, instead this fall.

  16. Greetings JCAs - I picked up a March Style Guide in store yesterday . . . Some new jewelry love for me, plus the Marcie, a chunky-heeled summer sandal. I am partial to the Jet-Set Geo print, but not sure I items they have it in. But I definitely want the Fishtail Anorak to replace a couple of older, lightweight coats. I would also like to go to Majorca, where they shot the catalog . . . #dislikewintersomuch.

    1. Oh, and more Regent Blazers. I don't care for the stand-up collar, but those that do will like the Spring-color options in linen - White, Heathered Coral, Barley, Alpine Moss, Indigo Chambray, and Navy.

    2. can you tell us more about the marcie sandals ? and maybe the price of the linen regents.. Thanks

    3. what is the new jewellery like ???

      Delete
    4. Greetings Unknown - Regent Blazers are $168 for Indigo Chambray, $178 for all other colors. Marcie is definitely a summer sandal - chunky slingback high heel with a thick criss-cross strap in front, and not a platform. Comes in Black, Sandy Brown, and Hillside Poppy. Jewelry includes a "hammered" series with a choker like the Hinged Choker (B4969), thick and thin square bracelets, and an open ring. Several tortoiseshell pieces with "rustic mint" and "dusty blossom" stones - they are big statement earrings and a pendant. There's a whole lot of "rustic mint" going on in the catalog. Hope this helps! Jennifer

    6. sandal kind of sounds like the Edie of last summer but with a criss cross front. i have the edie ....they were okay. they will certainly not look in good shape after say 8-10 wears. the cost per wear factored in i would not rebuy even on super sale (the edie) that is/

    7. the color rustic mint in the Harlow pant was very pretty. Too bad the Harlow had such tight calf fit for me...darn it !

    8. Greetings Unknown - Marcie is $168. Hammered Necklace is $98, Wide Hammered Square Cuff is $68, Hammered Square Cuff is $58, Cutout Ring is $58. Anorak is $198 (please go on promotion!). Statement Crescent Floral Cluster tortoiseshell earrings in rustic mint at $98, coordinating pendant is $78. Statement Tortoise Wildflower earrings are $88. Other "rustic mint" items include Suede D'Orsay flats for $138, Downing Bucket Bag for $138, and Suede Elsie pumps for $245. It's like being in a Wrigley's Spearmint Gum commercial!

  17. Regarding the Tippi, I spoke to a VPS (on the phone) regarding that rumor. The VPS indicated that they had _not_ received any information about discontinuing the Tippi and thus _could not confirm_ that rumor. So, some more data to ponder while you make your "Should I or shouldn't I stock up on Tippis?" decision.

  18. OT - Check out sneak peek images J.Crew posted on Instagram and Facebook from their upcoming NYFW. So far so good; I see bright colors...fabulous a-line tie skirt (hoping its not cashmere blend that will sell for $400+, ha!), coats, and a cute pair of heels with tassels....
