30-40% Off J.Crew Swim Styles & Extras {plus up to 50% off sale}

"Thanks!" to  many of you, who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew's website states they are offering 40% off select swim styles and beachy extras for women, men, and the kids, plus 30% off sale, and 50% off select final sale pieces, with promo code SPLASH.

I got an email (shown above) that states 30% off select summer styles at J.crew with code JULY.

Is this tiered marketing again at J.Crew? Are other JCAs seeing both codes or getting a different one altogether?

Will you be taking advantage of either promotion? If so, please share! :)

  1. If so, we are in the same tier, Alexis! I also wonder if it is still 50% off in stores for sale merchandise? SO much math. Perplexing.

    1. Yes, still 50% off at store in Plano, TX @ Willowbend Mall. Ordered over the phone & free shipping too.

  2. I received the same email as you. I can't keep up with all the daily sales codes and what's going on in the store. I think I'm summer shopped out anyway. And we are just now getting summer!!!

  3. I am confused....the fine print says 30% off selected items and the sale section says up to 50% off (prices as marked) I tried a sample check out....the sale section does not work with SPLASH....am I missing something ? I can't believe the sale section would be no additional % off as it has been 30% for weeks ????

    1. Agreed. You're not missing anything - prices are "as marked".

I am astonished that there are dozens of girls shorts still over $40 with no % off (and a full size run). Crewcuts customers (including both of mine) are leaving for camp this week - there's no more summer purchasing to be done. Between my two daughters I bought 15 pairs of shorts in the last few weeks, none from J Crew because the prices were way too high.

I don't understand this at all.

  4. I'm JCrew shopped out, but I had an OT question about Zara and sizing. I'm looking at a few things in their sale section (thanks, Gigi ;)) and as I have never bought anything from there before, was wondering if I should go with my normal size or go one up.

    1. In general I find that Zara sizes fit smaller. If say I would have a size M at J Crew I would need L when buying Zara.

    2. Hi Friendly Femme - I find tha Zara can fit a little slimmer than, say, J. Crew, but not nesc junior-y like Foreveer 21. The good thing is the photos are pretty good. If you look closely at them, you can get an idea if there are darts at the bust or other seams that would create a more tailored fit. They're also doing the looser, dolman cuts, so some things run larger than usual at Zara. I wear S and 6 the most in J. Crew. I take M most often in Zara. I stay away from the pants because they don't flatter my body shape and are too long. I don't want to pay for alterations unless it's something I think I'll wear for a long time. I hope this helps a bit. On the upside, free returns (I believe) and no final sale.

    3. Thank you both! I think I might try the larger of my sizes first, mostly because I'm fairly busty (32DD). And if that doesn't work then I'll exchange for the smaller one.

    4. FriendlyFemme - Hope it works out for you. I hope this isn't too narrow to say, but it seems that Zara cuts flatter the smaller busted European girl who walks everywhere and it shows. Not that I let it stop me from trying on their stuff. I'm slowly getting to the point where I can gauge online how it will fit irl. Feel free to drop a note on JCA or email me if you ever want to discuss any Zara pieces. There are items I've tried, but haven't posted reviews of.

    5. Thanks Gigi, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

  5. JULY worked on a "select summer style." SPLASH didn't work on anything. Fooey.

  6. EMBROIDERED TUNIC IN STRIPE
Item A7501 - any comments on the length of the side slits on this top? I am a slightly long-waisted 5'8" tall girl, and don;t want to the top to look out of proportion with those slits coming up super high....I know the top is described as 27" long, but the pictures of the side slits are giving me pause. Any feedback would be great. I would likely wear a cami under it as it might be low cut at the front...just worried about proportion with those side cuts on it.
Also, if you have any general feedback on the vintage stripe tunic (a6702) would love to hear what anyone thinks of it who has received it so far. Only 2 reviews on the site and they are complete opposite impressions. Looking for a tie breaker!

    1. sunny - Embroidered tunic in stripe looks the same as the embroidered tunic in chambray (review). It *looks* like the stripe version is not cut as low. However, if you count the number of soutache things, the slit on both tops go to 2.5 soutaches. The things that look like 3 leafed shamrocks. Hope that makes sense.

I'm only 5'0" and no long torso so the side slits is something I haven't even noticed, but other JCAs have mentioned them being an issue. I settled on a 6P, instead of a 4.

Haven't seen the vintage sripe tunic, which says select stores. Without seeing it irl I'm going to side w/the reviewer that didn't like it. It looks casual and not elegant, so my taste probably doesn't match the other reviewer. Plus, J Crew is hit or miss w/the tunics.

And finally, I think final sale will be coming in a couple weeks. I think in 2012 it happened around 7/6 or 7/7. It was definitely earlier than we expected. So, if either of these go on sale, they will soon become final sale.

    2. sunny - Anytime. I thank Alexis & JCA where I don't feel weird dissecting J Crew like I'm a fashion scientist. lol

  12. I ordered a few sale items online, being lazy, thinking they would just match the 50% off sale prices afterward (as they have been doing). Nope-clueless SA responded that prices were 'as marked' online and matched store prices-what the wha? Debating arguing it or just returning it all-so done with SA's that don't know what they are talking about...and prices that don't match.
