Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Wanted to mention a recent excellent customer service encounter at Nordstrom. They still match prices from other retailers. I used online chat to get the price of a pair of jeans from Zappos matched by Nordstrom. They won't match promotion prices such as a percentage off, but they will if the actual price of the item has been marked down.

  2. Hi JCA's - been poking around some other retailers and have a few reviews.

BR has some nice spring pieces - I tried the Giah pump in silver and found them to fit TTS (I'm pretty much a 9 everywhere) and comfortable - the heel is 2.5" and very walkable. I had my eye on some silver JC shoes but find them to be pretty uncomfortable for the most part, and pricey for how much wear I'd get out of them. For $58, I'm happy with them. Also tried the floral lace pullover and found it to be TTS, not too short like JC's sweatshirts have been. This is a sweatshirt, not a sweater - casual and cute and would look good layered.

Code BRCARD gets 40% off your purchase if you have a Gap brand card through tomorrow. Both these items are included.

  3. LOFT has new arrivals and new photography. I like the faded chambray shirt because it doesn't have buttons on the front pockets so it looks smoother layered. I tried the inked stripe tee in navy but it was more ivory/off-white than I was expecting. The Lou & Grey pieces are comfy looking, but have been excluded from promos (and according to site reviews they shouldn't be, 'cause they're not worth FP). I saw them in-store and they look like other LOFT pieces. Although, I saw a pair of leggings in store that aren't online that look exactly like my daughter's jersey denim leggings from ON. The material was identical...but hers didn't cost $49.50!

    1. Thanks for the heads up. I haven't been shopping at LOFT for awhile now, but I like a lot of the new arrivals.

  4. GAP is having a 40% off reg price & 50% off sale promotion right now. While the 40% off is a pretty regular occurrence, the 50% sale is a good deal. Even though ordering from GAP is soooooooo slow, I like that nothing in the sale section is ever final sale. There are some good deals on sweaters, jeans, boots, and cords right now.

  5. I've been spending more of my clothing budget at Club Monaco than J. Crew. I posted a photo of my favourite of my recents purchases here, the Alesia silk top. Club Monaco rarely does promotions and the nicer items often sell out at full price, but they do offer a 15% discount if you sign up on their email list, and a 20% discount for students.

  6. Just got 7 pairs of Happy Socks from their website -- LOVE! I bought a few pairs at Madewell and loved them so much I had to have more. They are so comfortable and CUTE! The website has 30% off and FS now.

  7. 50% off at Ann Taylor, everything included. There is some really pretty jewelry at great prices. I reviewed the bow pave bracelet and necklace today.

  9. Madewell still has the extra 40% off sale going on. If you can snag your size (they pop up in the morning), I posted reviews of the french knot pointy skimmer and cap toe skimmer here. Love these flats! I always do the half size up, like a lot of JC shoes.
