Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Went today for a return and the place was empty & dead. I did notice the Parker boot in size 7.5 & 8 in Chester brown for $113 (I think) before the 50% off if anyone is looking--Portland, Pioneer Square.

  2. Not sure if I'm going to stop by the store since I just ordered online the Saint James Meridien Unisex Tee and a grey V-neck tee using the 20% off. Besides there is no new merchandise to check out...

OT: Does anyone watch the HBO TV show, GIRLS? Jenna Lyons will be on this new season. She made a cameo, and has a line...

    Some reviews here.

  4. I will stop by the Palo Alto store to do a return.
OT - There are several new markdowns. While the website is updating, you can view available sizes/colors by selecting the "quick view" option for an item instead of going directly to the item page.

    1. I noticed this last week when I was having a particularly insomniac week. Many items' pages wouldn't load, but the quick view allowed me to see sizes and colors and even add the items to my cart.

  5. Definitely a lot of new markdowns this morning, including the Collection topcoat in tweed, the Colorblock shetland jacket, long cashmere gloves.

I'll be going in for some returns, so will see what's happening. I'm guessing it's pretty dead until the next rollout.

I was able to try out the new Trellis Floral Skirt and posted my review of it today here.

  6. Just to piggy back on shoppigwithm, lots of big markdowns this morning. A lot of the kikis are way down in price (suede studded bows down to $129 before discount) and also the black watch blazer ($169) and military parka ($239), etc. check your wish lists!!

  7. thinking about finally getting the leather front pixies now that they are on sale. anyone have a review on how they compare to the normal pixies size wise? i normally size down in pixies bc they stretch out but im wondering if i should do the same for these.

    1. I'm thinking the same thing! I bought these in my normal Jcrew size (size 4) during the X'mas 30% off promotion. But returned because it was still very expensive. Now I want to buy them for sure!

    2. I haven't tried them, but I ordered them this morning in my regular Pixie size. I don't find that my regular Pixies stretch too much, and I don't think I want skin tight leather, so I stayed with my regular size. FWIW, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my regular, non-maternity Pixies have worked the entire time, without stretching out too much (I do dry clean them).

    3. I just ordered the Pixies w/the leather tuxedo stripe down the side. I love Pixies so much, and this would be a nice addition to have since I've been living in mine ALL freezing winter long!! I went w/my regular sz. 6.

    4. and on promo w/% off a great deal. Returnable if necessary. Not FS!!

    5. Oh man, that is a great deal on the tuxedo stripe ones. I've got a gift card I've been waiting to use, but I may just use it on those.

    6. thanks ladies! still debating if im going to bite the bullet or wait to see if the price is reduced any lower.

    7. I have these, as well as the other leather pixies, and I have washed them! I wash them in the 'wool' setting and lay fat to dry. They came out beautifully.

      Delete
    8. You washed the Pixies that have leather on them? Wow! That's encouraging.

      Delete
    9. Jruby18 - yes! animal hides do get wet, I didn't see what the big deal was. NO DRYER though.
Didn't even have to iron them - they look great.
I washed the merino leather pocket sweater the same way a few times already and it comes out like new. I use the Laundress cashmere wash.

  9. I may pop in my store today to take a look. A couple of things I had questions about if any Jcas can answer. Has anyone seen the embossed floral sweater in the navy Item # 09312. It was shown in the catalog with the floral jacquard mini ( which I love) but my store only got the gray I think. Online also only has gray and I've not seen any reviews in navy.
I would also like to know an instore price on the collection glow-stripe jacquard pencil skirt # 06911 if anyone comes across one this weekend!
    Thanks and happy shopping!

  10. Does anyone know the price of the schoolboy in caramel in stores? Neither one of my stores had any in stock, so they weren't sure of the price. Thank you!

  11. Wondering if anyone ever got the Heathered Fleece Hoodie. I don't know if the XS is very small, or the S very large--would love any recommendations, as it is on sale and looks cute and comfy.

I doubt I will stop in a store, but I broke down and bought two Cambridge turtlenecks, which are now on sale online and come out to about $50 each. It's so horribly cold in the northeast . . .

Also that Hera Feather popover is on sale. I'm tempted, but I really don't like popovers.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Unknown - I didn't try the hoodie, but I think it's the same cotton/wool terry as the skinny sweatpants (03758) I tried. I ultimately returned them because the wool in the blend was a little itchy and I didn't know how they would wash, but they were very warm so I assume the hoodie would be too. It's so cold in the NE lately! I'm determined to not buy any more winter stuff, but it's so tempting.

      Delete
    2. Fwiw, that popover is very, very thin. I did not like it, and usually I like popovers and Liberty print shirts.

      Delete
    3. Thank you both for your thoughts! And, yes, no more JCrew . . . except I got those Cambridge sweaters. Cate--I always show up as "Unknown" on here, but you have answered my questions so many times--thank you so much for letting me know that the popover is thin. I'm attracted to the print, and honestly, like the name . . . but I don't really need thing.

      Delete
    4. You're very welcome! The print looked better online than it did in person, honestly. I'm so drawn to blues like that, but there will be something better than this one, I'm sure of it.
Also, I have an older zip fleece hoodie from J. Crew and like it, but I hesitated to mention it in case they've changed it recently.

      Delete
    5. I got the heathered fleece hoodie and I wish I had sized up, because it shrank more than I expected when I washed it (and I followed the care instructions) so now it only fits over a tank or thin short-sleeve tee, and the sleeves are a little too short. I actually tried to get another one in the next size up, but I ordered it twice and both of them had terrible zippers that kept getting stuck (which was not a problem with my original size) so I gave up!

    6. Unknown - If you're still deciding on the Hera, Shoperarach reviewed it on her blog.

  13. If someone sees the crystal rectangle necklace in crystal can you let me know. I just received the burgundy and like how it is not to big. Looks like the crytsal is sold out on line though.

Also received the pocket dress in stretch wool. I have wanted this since it rolled out and I was pleased to get it with the last 40%. The waist is natural. Finally a dress that is not short waisted! Can wait to wear with the calf hair shoes. Does anyone have feed back on the Pleated stretch flannel dress?

  14. Maybe someone else realized/posted this, and I missed it, but heads-up--if your item(s) is coming from a retail store, there is no longer a 60 minute window in which you can click to cancel your online order after it is placed. The phone representatives can't cancel it, either. Just a PSA for folks who have used that in the past when unsure about an order.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is useful to know. Thank you!

      Delete
    2. I found this out firsthand. Placed an order twice when my wifi glitched. Called customer service, and while they couldn't stop the duplicate shipment, my return and shipping were all waived. Interestingly, packaging was way different (worse) coming from retail store as many of you have noted---and took three days longer to deliver.

  15. Probably won't stop by the store (91 5th Ave, NYC)-- I'm only in the market for sale right now and the selection was looking a little picked-over there last week. Tempting though because in-store sale prices are often so much lower than online.

Just picked up a few pieces from the online sale this morning: the bi-stretch wool full-length Minnies in heather carbon and heather olive (I got the wine color at sale last week and LOVE them), and the lavender Tippi. One step closer to my Fred Rogers-esque dream of wearing the same sweater and pants every day, just in different colors!

  16. as some others have noted, the popbacks online right now are showing up randomly and then disappearing quickly. I've had some things in my cart this morning, waited for my local store to open so I could get them through my very personal stylist, only to update about 30 minutes later and they're all gone. should have bit the bullet.

  17. a bit OT but as others hv mentioned items are being shipped from stores thar were purchased online. i rcvd a blazer yesterday that took forever to arrive from WA to VA & when i inspected it, to my dismay the security tag is still on!!! so now i have to drive to the store which is an hr away to hv it removed. Cld CS to complain & requested a PA to the in store price which is the very least they could do.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So glad I didn't bite the other day with the 20% off - almost ordered the pack green Tippi which was still full price. Snagged it this morning for $35 (on promo) & the windowpane silk top also for $35.

Has anyone received their rewards cards yet for last quarter? I keep thinking my husband threw them out by accident. (He tends to toss anything J Crew-related as he knows I have a problem.)

    1. I have them and they are gorgeous. Other than a pair of Minnie's they are the only Jcrew pant I purchased this season. I took my usual size 4. I would say they are true to size but there is no stretch at all. The fabric is a substantial weight not like those paper thin silk pants they keep making. 81% wool, 19% silk and lined (100% poly) The print reads a little bit different IRL. Background is black and the grid is a plaid of orangey rust and rosey rust intersecting lines. I thought the grid was all one color. They are at a great price with extra percent off if you can find your size. I had these on my lust list early on and couldn't find a single review so I made sure to order before final sale. HTH

  22. I picked up the Liberty Popover in Hera Feather today in store and the sales associate was kind enough to match the online price making it eligible for the extra 50% off as well. I personally don't like popovers, but I love the Liberty prints, so that made this one a winner for me. I do agree with others though that it is quite sheer compared to some of the other Liberty popovers, but I think it will make a great addition for spring.

  24. The February catalog looks pretty good (and not much like the Spring Lookbook). Lots of blue, french tees, new denim, a pretty blue floral print, and a sporty vibe. I think there will be lots of love for the linen baseball lovebirds tee (in spite of it being that sheer-ish ivory color) and the french tees.

  27. I guess I will be going to do some returns. My Ceces in Navy arrived and unfortunately they arrived without a box, crammed in a regular mailer. Shipped from a store and obviously the display shoe since they show signs of wear. This is when I hate being a size 6.

  28. I got an AWESOME PA on the black suede Ettas today - bought them earlier this week full price but using the 20% off code, and today they were marked down to I think $190, then an extra 40 with the code. Saved $82 - kind of a steal for such a classic shoe! Love it when that actually works. :)

    2. okay...here goes...
-the new denim is taking over: vests, shorts, pencil skirt and pricing is comparable to past seasons
-there's a new pant, the Campbell Capri. It's straight and cropped. $89.50, 8 colors.
-no. 2 pencil skirt has "a sleeker fabric and a slimmer waistband"
-theres a new marled jeweled sweatshirt, $88, cute
-the piped Andie Chinos are great and only $89.50
-new toothpicks in railroad stripe and tux stripe
I think we don't need to worry about things to lust after. The Lookbook doesn't give Spring justice. And it hits Monday in-stores!

      Delete
    3. I heard that the Campbell fabric might be similar to the Minnie.

      Delete
    4. The Campbell Capri is a re-make of the Cafe Capri, not the Minnie. I heard the Cafe Capris are not going away. The Campbell Capris come in an "abstract wave" print (blue and white) that looks really cute.

There is a silk cat print shirt in blue and white that I want to see. It's hard to make out the cats in the print in the catalog. I'd like to see it enlarged online.

There is a distressed denim pencil skirt, Eastwood Jeans, and the updated Matchstick jeans with stretch.

There is a collection lace-stripe silk skirt that looks beautiful. It comes in dusty ginger or bright kiwi. I can't see the length on the picture but it says it falls to knee.

They're showing the updated no. 2 pencil skirt in cotton, saying it has a sleeker fabric and a slimmer waistband ($110).

There is a lightweight merino tunic with deep side slits.

The floral print they highlight in this catalog is called "nightgarden floral". It has blues and pale pinks in it.

Deco arrowhead jewelry (necklace and earrings).

Merino sweater in antique floral (heather sandstone). This is a pale color on the baseball style sleeves and the print is on the body, like we've seen recently. Merino wool, silk.

There is the "abstract coral" print that looks a bit like DNA to me :) It's got a navy background and... something all over it. They show it in silk pants.

A pretty pencil skirt with front slit in rosewood (burgundy, white black print?).

      Toothpick in tux stripe.

  36. Looking for sizing recommendation for the Cocoon jacket. Many say to size down. I own the DoubleCloth Slim Trench in a size 10- which is also my median J.Crew shirt size. Should I go to an 8 or stick with a 10? Want a tighter fit but still want it to fit :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have the Slim Trench in an 8 and have 2 Cocoon coats, one in an 8 and one in a 6. Usually I'm an 8 in J. Crew coats. I think the size 6 Cocoon looks nicer on me, but I can't layer much under it. I always end up reaching for the 8, it's just more comfortable and feels better on. So I'd say you could go either way, depending on your preference and how you plan to wear it. Fwiw, I'll buy my Perfect Shirts or Popovers in a size 10 or 12 (broad shoulders, and I don't like my shirts tight anywhere), cami or tank style tops in an 8. Hope that helps.

    2. Went out to my snowy mailbox in hopes in finding a catalog. But noooooo!

      Delete
    3. I'm 5'7" and 135 lbs, and I wear a size 4 in the Cocoon coat. A size 6 would def be too big for me. I could prob fit in a size 2, but it would not be very comfortable. I think the Cocoon coat is meant to be slightly oversized due to the shape.

      Delete
    4. marissa - I wear 4 or 6 in J Crew coats and took a 4 in the cocoon. I have very mild temps, so there isn't a need to layer very thick sweaters under it.

I agree w/cate about a smaller size looking better. There are no shoulder seams and that creates more of a bulky look around the shoulder. So a smaller size will look trimmer. I reviewed the cocoon in detail in this post, compared to the factory version. Hope that doesn't add to the confusion. ;)

      Delete
    5. The Cocoon coat never looks like it's fitted because the style is so unstructured. It's a far cry from the Slim Trench, fit-wise. You can get it to look trimmer by sizing down, but it's still a bulky-looking coat, IMO.

  44. Good morning, ladies - I'm putting some catalog pics up on my Insta. Quality is not great but it gives you an idea of what's coming.

    2. Thanks, silver!
Um, weren't stripes the "new neutral" in 2011?

    3. silver....you made my sunday. I was the one lusting

    4. Silver....how much is the merino tunic with side slits and what colors are offered....thank you. You are really soooo helpful.

    5. Hi Unknown - it's $88 and there are a bunch of colors. I just added another pic with them. HTH!

    6. Thank you Silver Lining! Fun to look at but not much that I like so far. Oh well!

    7. Thanks silver lining! It looks like the credit cards aren't safe! I so wanted my catalog to be in my snowy mailbox and this helps console me!

    8. Silver....thanks AGAIN.on the pic of the sandals with the show off caption do the ones on the bottom have the dreaded toe strap or are they more open.
do any of the pic show these new campell capris or the new eastwood jeans...Gee I wish J Crew would just put the catalog on line.....

    9. Oh and I'm a little nervous about the new Campbell capri. I love the cafe capri and they fit me much better than the other pants (I'm looking at you Eaton boy pant) at jcrew. If they do away with the cafe capri and tinker with the fit and change only to the Campbell capri, I will protest.

      Delete
    10. I find the low rise on the cafe capri too low. I like the eaton..wow I hope they are different but that they keep them both.
I do believe we need a new style of jeans. Again for me the matchstick and toothpicks(even the midrise ) were off.
When I went back to look at J Crews pinterest picks of the Spring show I see most of it is not in the catalog pics that Silver Lining posted...is this unusal....I was hoping to see the longer white eyelet looking skirt....oh well.
J Crew as well seems to be behind the eight ball with getting the news of spring items out there ....someone should have had a sneak peak going on for a few weeks to rev us up....

    11. I agree unknown. Lets keep
more than one pant style so our many body shapes can be happy. The trouble I have with the Eaton is in the thighs. I've tried them but I am almost between sizes 4 is almost too tight in the thighs and a 6 is too loose in the waist and bum. I wouldn't mind a little higher rise at the waist but smaller thighs would be a deal breaker.

    12. I noticed the Campbell Capri doesn't have beltloops, so that's a definite no-go for me.

      Delete
    13. Unknown, I know, all they had to do was run the new product by some real J. Crew consumers. It seems like they just try it on some super skinny tall model types and declare it a winner. This is a major design flaw.

    14. 1. I'll admit that I purchased only one pair of cafe capris this fall (the gorgeous collection tattersall) so I feel partly to blame if they decide to discontinue the style. I wish we had some confirmation on whether they are discontinued or not since we have had some conflicting reports. It might be good to know so we could buy more on sale now or hit ebay. This years fabrics, the paper thin silks and lack of nice lined wool did not appeal to me.
      2. Yikes no belt loops on the Campbell capris! Sometimes a belt is the way to make the unwearable wearable without an expensive alterations bill! I'm interested to see how these fit so any posted reviews would be appreciated once they hit the b&ms.

    15. The Collection pieces from the lookbook tend to get rolled out over a few months, so some of them we may not see till March or even April.

The Campbell capris are in one of the spring preview pics on Gigi's blog (here). They look more flared at the hem where the cafe capris were more tapered.

  45. Six Vivs...the metallic silver and the navy geometric print have bows. Cute!

  47. I bought the Stadium Cloth Motorcycle jacket- Beige Stone in a size 2. Not 100% convinced it will fit so if anyone has been stalking this jacket (like me!) please email me and I would be happy to re-sell to you in the event it does not fit me. Thanks!

  49. Review of the new floral jacquard mini. And a J Crew trivia challenge. There's a pic of a necklace at the bottom of the post. I'm hoping one JCA can identify it for another. I don't recognize it, but maybe one of you do and can share the name.

  50. Tried to snag the khaki peacoat trench this morning on popup...but by the time I got through checkout it was removed from my order. GGRRR!!!

    1. I'm on the hunt for an XS in british khaki, too. I really hope they restock that color.
Before it was sold out, and on waitlist, it said it would be available around March. I hope its true.

Why make something nice, and not produce a lot of it? I understand if its a collection piece, but its not. But they make ugly items that would linger on sale for 4-5 months...

    2. Hi JSR,
Did you call and have "we will find it for you" look for it? I did and they found it in about one hour! When I called about it being sold out completely they told me that they didn't think it was going to be reproduced. I was told it was a very small lot and since it was featured on the Style Guide cover it sold out quickly. But don't give up....someone will return an XS for you.....just have them do the store search for you. Good Luck!

    3. Hi Stray Cat,

No..I didn't do the WWFIFY. I just emailed them through the customer service address (I know I always get a 'no, we are totally out of stock'). Customer service never has a good answer about sold out items.

I'll do that WWFIFY, soon. Thanks for the tip. Please restock. Please restock.

    4. Call and talk to customer service. They will search stores for you. I've had a lot of luck finding sold out and hard to find items using the WWFIFY service. Good Luck!

  53. I had a problem ordering the boy popover in bows this weekend, and sent them a nasty complaint (the item sold during my transaction online). They were nice in the email response, and tweeted me telling me they had found the blouse in a US store and were willing to ship the item to Canada for me. I was still a bit angry (and went on a small shopping spree at the gap to cope with my anger), and ultimately refused the blouse.

But today, I was surfing their website out of boredom of working on my project, and found the majesty coat in vintage berry for $100! The only one left was in my size, so I quickly checked out. Luckily, this purchase actually went through! It's hard to stay mad at J.Crew for long, especially when you can save 300$ on a coat!

    6. Gigi--I'm so sorry you are sick. It's been a terrible year for my family for colds. My son and I had our flu shots and are okay, but my husband has been sick for a while--they say viral and suspect the flu.

Thank you for taking the time to post all these photos.

I think that wine bottle perfect shirt may need me.

    7. Teacups - Awesome! Thank you. Between you & audreys, the JCA was able to find the necklace on Ebay.

Unknown - Thank you. Each day gets a little better. Next time I will a) get my flu shot and b) go to the dr much sooner.

Did anyone see the seam on the Eastwood jeans? It looks like it's twisting (intentionally) to the front of the leg. I wonder about the fit on that!

    1. Hi Katarzyna - I noticed that as well. Seems odd to me. I'm a little skeptical of the new denim since a lot of the time, "new and improved" seems to really mean "cheaper to make/higher profit margin" but we'll see what they look like IRL.

      Delete
    2. kind of looks very boyfriend jeanish...

    3. Katarzyna - My guess is the twisting on the Eastwood was for the style guide. I would be surprised if the seem is like that irl, but you never know w/the Crewniverse. They're $168.

I added more pricing info to some of the pics in the slideshow.

  57. OT another thing I've noticed is that updates don't seem to be happening exclusively in the morning anymore. Within the past week or so I've seen more items pop up in tiny increments throughout the day or in colors/sizes that weren't available at the usual 7am or so. Thoughts?
