If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

  1. My in-store VPS was helping me track down a shirt in a different size for my husband and pulled up inventory showing it in stock in multiple stores around the country, but she said I should use the red phone WWFIFY so I would get free shipping- yet for some reason they were unable to find my item? I'm planning on calling different stores myself, but now there's no way it will arrive in time for Christmas (shirt was a gift from his mom and he was hoping to wear it home). Grrrrrr.

  2. I love J Crew in general and so does my daughter and I spend a lot of money with them every year. Yet, I am pretty frustrated with their inventory system! I wanted to purchase the Open Cardigan (08379) in the garnet color in xxs. It was available at full price ($118) online but I knew I had seen it in stores for $99.99 (with the 30% discount both places). I checked my local store and they did not have it in my size, so I called customer service to ask about the pricing. By the time I called in the afternoon (after seeing it online, instock in all colors and sizes that morning) I was informed that it was sold out. The CS rep offered to do a WWFI in the stores and would honor the $99.99 less 30%. In less than an hour I got the email telling me it could not be located. Oh well. Then this morning, the cardigan is back on the website in all colors and sizes! So, I placed an order....and will be calling CS again to get them to honor the lower price! If only the stores and website had the same prices and deals....probably wouldn't bug me so much if I didn't know about all the discrepancies but I look at the website daily!!!

  3. I don't mean to go off topic, but the pear bracelet, item # A1159 comes to &17.49 with the extra 30% off. It's a great deal and there appears to be several in stock. It' gorgeous in person.

    5. Doesn't the brass discolor over time? I just can't bring myself to buy costume/non-precious metal jewellery because of that.

    6. I've never had a problem with the brass discoloring...a little tip is to coat it with a thin layer of clear nail polish, but please test spot it first.

    7. Thanks for the tip. My friend likes their jewelry. Awesome b/c today is 40% off so it is $14.99

  4. Holes, holes, holes have been the theme for me lately. Holes after one wear in my Tippi, hole boys long sleeve ts and sweatshirts. At first I was going to throw them out, but decided to return just to show them the poor quality. I am still within the return window for most of these items, its mind blowing.

    1. me too :/

i bought a pair of jeans from factory and i realized the first time i wore them (albeit when i got to work) that they had a hole in them... i kept thinking "gee. it's pretty cold out today. it's like the wind is whipping right through my pants" well, duh. it was.

good news, though, was that jcrew took them back and credited me the full amount.

  5. I want J. Crew to know just how bad this new inventory system is, so I am adding to the complaints today, even though my order worked out okay in the end.

In last week's vent I mentioned that I had been waiting for two items to ship to me and I was fearing the worst since it appeared that all items were now coming from the stores and not the Lynchburg warehouse.

I went ahead and re-ordered one of the items, a pair of green Nike waffle sneakers, figuring *maybe* that one would get to me, but still not expecting either to get to me.

Well the next day my original order came through, and it was shipped from the warehouse, so yay for that and all, but the second re-order got canceled.

I guess what I am getting at is that it is really bad for J. Crew if I feel I HAVE to order things multiple times *just* to ensure I get *one* of the orders. I mean, come on, J. Crew, you must know that if some of us are doing that because we don't trust that you have your act together, you know that eventually some of us will just stop even bothering to order unless we know for sure, with 100% certainty, that an item is fully stocked and easily found.

    /rant.

    2. They are still shipping from the warehouse, though not exclusively.

    3. wellfed, hahahaha. ;)

312JCgirl, my factory order shipped from Lynchburg, all pieces and the day after I ordered. I spent maybe 90 dollars for four pieces at the factory and received free shipping and had better service, overall. Hmm...

    4. Wow. You must have plenty of time on your hands. I don't have time to mess around with JCrew anymore. So glad I over bought and stocked up during the good years. As soon as I saw posts about their new shipping I immediately thought now they have finally made me not want to shop with them ever again unless it is in store only. Very sad day indeed. Used to love JCrew. Still like to read and check out info. about them in hopes one day they will get their act together but it looks to only be getting worse.

    5. I wish I had more time on my hands. Nope, just was very efficient those mornings. (I get up bright and early and check the internet with my coffee before the day starts.)

I only mess with J. Crew when I know it is worth it. FWIW, those darn Nike waffle sneakers are SO freaking comfortable. My hubby also loves how retro they look and wants a pair for himself, lol.

  6. Does anyone remember when J Crew would have the best Xmas Gifts? Shearling Coats, Great Sweaters etc.
Festive Holiday looks? I have been disappointed the last couple of years.

  7. A sweater that I ordered at the end of last winter, the a cashmere with polka dots, ended up getting a hole in it even though I had only worn it 3-4 times. It was close enough to the seam that I was able to sew it back together, but I shouldn't have to do that. J. Crew's items are too expensive (even on sale) to get holes in them after a few wears. This combined with the new shipping system has completely put me off J.Crew. I haven't ordered anything since the beginning of November, and I don't think I will order anything anytime soon.

    1. Yes, first winter I have not bought from JCrew. Winter of 2009 and 2010 I received 5 sweaters all with holes right out of the package. Unacceptable.

  8. I received an order yesterday and 2 of the 3 items were incorrect. The bags and the receipt had the correct products listed but the items inside the bags were not even close. What the heck is going on in the J. Crew warehouse?!?

    1. Beach Chic Girl, same thing happened to me and I am still scratching my head over this. I ordered a classic chambray shirt (to replace the one I've worn to death), and the item # on the packing slip and the bag were correct. But inside the bag? A selvedge chambray. What??? How do you even make an error like that?

    2. I also received an incorrect order a few weeks ago. J Crew re shipped the items but lo and behold the warehouse realized its mistake and shipped the original order so I received the items in duplicate.

    3. Has happened to me numerous times over the years, especially around the holidays. They always blame it on the "inexperienced holiday help". Just the other week, I ordered the black/white crinkle boy shirt and got a boys striped tee instead. Bag and invoice showed what I should have gotten. Give me a break......

    4. Happened so many times to me as well. I basically have stopped ordering unless it is a full priced or brand new item. Any sales or pop backs...Never again...stuck to it now for the past 2+ years b/c it was such a hassle and disappointment. Never ordered from a company that makes SO MANY MISTAKES.

  10. Not really a vent, more of a "first world problem" I guess. I never thought I'd say this, but J.Crew's sale/promotion strategy is almost too much. I never know when to buy something, and it's stressful shopping there sometimes, because everything seems to either sell out instantly, or go on the sale rack with an extra 30-40% off. I was eyeing the schoolboy blazer in tipped wool and slowly saw the in-store price drop from 268 to 199, to 169, finally today it was 119 with 30% off. I'm glad I waited, but I feel bad for all the people who purchased last week ya know? I get the concept of a sale, and I shouldn't be complaining but they don't have a consistent pricing strategy at all. And of course the B&M prices are different from the online prices. Oh and the popbacks. One day its on sale and sold out, next day its available in all colors and sizes but back to the original price? I feel like I've gotten way more selective with J.Crew and I'll only buy 1 or 2 pieces I really LOVE and would probably have bought at full price anyways. Does anyone else understand where I'm coming from? That being said, I do LOVE my J.Crew items I've gotten recently and I'm thankful for the sales but I wish they were just a little more consistent with their pricing.

    1. I agree, I am pretty tired of items going on promo for one day and the promos changing all the time, it is tirening to say the least.

    2. Totally agree. They seem to always have 30% off. Like almost every other week. Why would anyone purchase a regular priced item!!? I don't understand their pricing strategy.
