  1. I was hoping we'd see extreme pop-backs in the sale section, but I'm not complaining! I like some things in the sale/promo section, and the 30% off is nice.

  2. Did you notice in the fine print that the Liquor Store is excluded? Does J. Crew sell liquor?!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's their men's store in Tribeca (NYC) -- it used to be a bar called the Liquor Store (and a liquor store before that) so they just kept the name.

    2. That is good trivia, thanks! :)

    3. I wandered in there once - it's REALLY cool, if not a bit cramped.

  3. Couple of items that I don't remember seeing on sale before. Pixie pants, twisted hammock pearl necklace and Venus flytrap necklace and earrings. Figured with the free shipping I will try the pixies in short.

    1. Jennifer, thanks for the heads-up re. the twisted hammock pearl necklace. I've had this on my wishlist for a while, and I didn't realize it was on sale. Was able to squeeze this in just now with the free shipping thanks to your post.

  5. Random question: was the original herringbone excursion vest black or brown? Thanks!

    1. Thanks! I had it in my head that it was brown, so I thought it being black was the factory departure.

  6. I am loving Cyber Monday so far! I placed a small order this morning for the elbow-sleeve drapey tee in mauve blush. I know, not super-exciting but I love that tee, I have it in navy and it is super-flattering (size down).
I love the no minimum free shipping because you can think twice before buying. I had several other things in my cart but I am going to see if I can find them in store and try them first.
    Happy shopping everyone!

  7. Love to see the free shipping/no minimum combined with the discount! There are a couple of things I've been contemplating but they didn't reach the high shipping minimum, so I'll more than likely go ahead and order today with the free ship on all orders. There are quite a few new promo-priced items added online, as well as some new markdowns, too.

The list of new promo items & markdowns is here. The list of already existing promo items and markdowns is here.

  8. A couple of dress reviews here. One is the Peter Pan collar and the other is the crepe short-sleeve.

  9. Can anyone comment on the fit or the length difference between the medium and large Funny Birds Tee (item# 08814)?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would go with your normal size! The medium and Large are close in size its just the large size is longer! Its because of the bottom how it scoops up if that makes sense. I am either a Med. or large in Tees at Jcrew and went with the large for length. I hope this helps!

      Delete
    2. Firefighter Wife - If you size up from your normal size, it will be slouchier than intended. It already has a little looseness. Review here and links to 4 other bloggers so you can see where it hits them. I agree w/Mary G to go w/your usual shirt size. If in between sizes, imo take the smaller size. Unless you're sure you have fit issues that would be better served by the larger size.

      Delete
    3. I tried both. First I thought the Large was the right size, it felt great on, but objectively it was a bit too big overall. The Medium was the right size for me, it fit better at the shoulders and bust, and the length was fine (I am 5'4"), but I don't like shirts that cling near my stomach (my most problem-y area) and although this shirt is not a tight cut, the Large felt better to me at the stomach. I thought the length was fine in both sizes. Ultimately I didn't keep either size because I don't like birds (I love gray t-shirts though). I hope they re-issue this style in another print eventually, in gray!

    4. Forgot to say, I am usually a Medium in J. Crew tees, although I size up to Large in the Perfect Fit Tees.

    5. Thank you! I'm looking at getting this as a gift for someone who is really tall. She's about 6 feet and I was not sure of the length.

      Delete
    6. I don't know about this for someone 6 feet, it may be too short. It might depend on whether her height is more in her legs or in her torso.

      Delete
    7. Does anyone have any suggestions for JC tops for tall women?? I know they carry tall in pants and tall in mens shirts. I wish they carried tall women's tops.

      Delete
    8. I'm almost 6', and often take my larger Jcrew size to get a little more length. Ditto what Cate said about where your friend's length is located. The Technicolor top is a great length, and I think the ruffled silk tops (beanstalk top but solid colors) came in tall. Basically anything 24" or longer should hopefully work... good luck!

  10. For some reason the pear bracelet (item #A1159) does not show up under the jewelry section, but it's on sale for $44.99.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I was all ready to skip right over this promo bc I already have 2 JC orders en route to me, but of course they added some new items to sale. The Claremont tote is mine!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Has anyone tried the Marled Fair Isle sweater yet? Wondering about sizing since it's offered in xxs...that's usually an indicator that it runs large!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I decided to try the cable knit pocket sweater in "snow". Also bit the bullet and ordered the wintress puffer in tall size. I'd love to see some real life photos of the Hughes satchel... I noticed it's on sale now and with the promo that gets it down to $167..

    ReplyDelete
  14. This promo was finally enough to get me to order a green shirttail mini in wool. I'm still miffed about the mysterious price increase that happened last week, when the original price went from $88 to $98, which in turn changed the promo price from $78 to $88. I also picked up a pair of black opaque tights, since I desperately needed a pair and have resigned myself to not purchasing a pair from Wolford until my wallet has recovered from Christmas shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I ordered the skier sweater to check it out. I probably won't get to a B&M until this weekend and with the promo and the free shipping, there's no harm in grabbing one to see if I like it. It looks adorable and its one of those things I'll probably regret not getting. I'm generally not a big novelty sweater person, but I really like this one.

OT, I received a "Thank You" gift from J. Crew of two Grafika notebooks. The note says they asked the company to produce them in these colors and patterns just for our Cardmembers. I've never received a gift from J. Crew before. They are pretty cool and I'll probably "re-gift" them to my husband who loves all things notebooks and paper.

    1. what?! is this for all card members? or just some randomly selected lucky few? (of which i am not one) anyone else get a thank you gift?

      Delete
    2. I am a cardmember, but my note that was included in my gift says that they asked the company to produce them in colors and patterns just for our "customers" and "Thank you for shopping with us this year..." As far as I understand, it is something for everyone that is sent once you meet some arbitrary minimum amount spent for the year.

      Delete
    3. I got the notebooks today too. I think this is the nicest thing they've sent since I've gotten something. Really like the patterns!

    4. I received the notebooks today as well! I can't believe it! I've never gotten one of the thank you gifts before!

  17. Hey Alexis -

This promo would allow you to get the $1200 cashmere pajamas that you referenced the other day. They'd ring up at $840, but at least you'd get free shipping!

  20. Just in case anyone was considering buying the leather-front pixie pants with the current promo...I received mine today and am in love! They are super comfortable and a great way to buy in to the leather trend. I know that some people had said leather items were excluded from the promo, but these rang up 30% off for me with the HOLIDAY promo and I'm wondering if it would be the same case with their Cyber Monday promotion.

I also received the "annual gift" to frequent customers today - the Grafika notebooks. It was a nice gesture on their part and the prints are a bit on the masculine side so my husband will get some use out of them too.

    1. I ordered a pair myself during that promo and can't wait for them to arrive. Glad to hear that you love them!

    2. I have always wanted to try them, but they're so expensive! Now with your positive turn out, I just placed an other for them. Hopefully they will fit me well :) Thank you!

      Delete
    3. When I first opened them I was a little bit disappointed because there is a horizontal seam that hits maybe like a foot or so above the ankle...I had envisioned it as being a single piece of leather on each leg. However, once they were on, it wasn't noticeable and the fit and comfort level were so spot on that the seam wasn't a big deal. I think we will all get a lot of use out of these this winter, ladies!

  24. Has anyone tried the lightweight merino v-neck sweater? Wondering about the fit and quality of the knit? I also need to add another pencil skirt to my collection so will likely bite on this sale.

    1. I have it and like it a lot.
It is thinner than the regular merino vneck, but that what i liked about it.

  26. Thinking about picking up the vintage short sleeve pajama set. They are still pretty pricey for pajamas even with the discount (imo) but I've been looking for pajamas like that for the longest time. Does anyone know how they fit? I'm 5'2 and ~110 lbs and usually a 24-25 in pants, deciding between the xs and the xxs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I am also thinking about getting the factory jeweled collar oxford shell. How does the sizing on that run? I'm deciding between the 0 and the 2.

      Delete
    2. The nice thing about the short sleeve pajamas is that the pants are a bit cropped. At 5'2", that should be good for you! Size-wise, I think they are TTS. I wear a 29-30 pants and a size Medium in these pajamas. Mine have not shrunk at all and I am always throwing them into the hot dryer.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Cate about them being tts. I wear a 27-28 and I got the small. I tried the xs as I can wear an xs in the flannel pants and the dreamy cotton but the bottoms were too snug in these.

    1. Ina, I believe these may be sold out. I had two on my "wishlist" and they are now in the "out of stock" section. When I click on them, the out of stock message appears as well. I would be surprised if they weren't restocked before Christmas...?

  28. OT: For those who may be considering ordering from Aran Sweater Market, I just wanted to give you a heads up about customs/duty charges. I received my sweaters about a week ago (they're lovely), and today I received a customs/duty invoice from DHL for another ~$85 (not so lovely). I definitely wasn't expecting that, nor did I factor those extra charges into my decision to purchase from Aran Sweater Market over other retailers. These fees add up to an extra 30+% on my total purchase.

    1. Pretty sure the duty cutoff is $200, anything below is not charged duty. I ordered some boots from the UK recently and they came to $197 and I wasn't charged. Good to keep in mind tho!

    2. Thanks, bindi. I didn't know about the $200 limit. Good to know. Live and learn, I guess.

  30. If anyone is looking at the mini bows sweatshirt, or the one Alexis featured on new arrivals, I have to say is huge!! It's very boxy and oversized and is a little hard to wear even layered. The color is a strange shade of grey, which is sad because the bows are so cute and well done. I am starting to feel bad with the fact almost everything I order gets returned to Jcrew. Anyone else out there feeling the same? Hoping more for my next package.

  31. I received the notebook gifts today, but also included is a $50.00 donation gift card where you can log on and select a charity to donate it to. Did you all see that? or get that? It's written on a card enclosed with the notebooks. Don't throw it out!

  35. I caved and got a few things from both retail and factory. Retail, I got the bow popover because I do need to try it out, along with the crinkle boy shirt in red/navy, because both'll be great underneath the skier sweater. Factory, I got the Sylvia wedges in cabernet, because they were a great deal with the 50% off + 10% off + FS. I think I got them for ~$53. I know I could have gotten them for a better price with an earlier deal, but I'm not complaining.
