Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    1. Thanks for the update Ema. I was hoping the extra 40 was still on since I plan to go today darn.

    2. The 40% off was still in stores yesterday. I placed and order with a US store. They honored the sale website price (which was lower than the store) and discounted by 40% on top of the sale price.

      Some reviews here.

    3. I just went today and my store still had the 40% off

    4. Glad to hear it everyone. I may try to drop by my store if I have enough time. Doesn't everybody hate Christmas traffic. It takes you three times as long to do anything.

  4. I have a question. I'm looking at the Minnie in medallion print, but have no idea if I should go with my normal size. What size do you usually wear? I don't have a pair.

    1. Hi Friendly Femme, i am a 0 in my pants and i am a 0 in the minnies too.
      HTH

      Delete
    2. Just to confuse matters, I usually go down one size in the Minnies compared to my usual size in the cafe capris.

      Delete
    3. I take the same size too. I find this to be a comfortable fit. They do stretch a little and so after I wash them I pop the twill minnies in the dryer. I think I've seen some others who like to size down for a tighter fit.

      Delete
    4. Hmm. I was looking at the tall sizes, just because I want a full length and they only go to a 0. I may just deal with the stretching because an ankle pant in winter in the Midwest is not ideal.

      Thank you for the feedback!

      Delete
    5. I am also looking at ordering a tall in these as I love the color and print but in the Northeast I don't need exposed legs in the winter!!! Leaning towards just passing at this point in time.

    6. All my previous years' Minnies are Tall (I am 5'6"). They are great in the winter!

  12. Has anyone tried the full length minnie pants? Can't find any reviews online to compare length to regular Minnie's and the slimmer leg opening.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I bought them. Like the full lengths they look normal if you have to take your boots off. I bought the tall which is quite long almost too long for me. The slimmer leg opening isn't an issue because to me minis are leggings so I generally have boots on.

      Delete
    2. Thanks! Would you compare them to the look of pixies then? Are they in stores? I've only ever seen regular minnie pants not the full length (or have never looked before)

      Delete
    3. I wore the Minnie in full length (wool) yesterday for the first time, I love them. The slimmer legs make them look more like leggings, yet acceptable for office environment. I have the pixie too, but I see pixie more as leggings, totally different style and feel.
I have a picture from yesterday outfit at instagram at "thefamilyoflovee". I'm also drafting a post about Minnie pants :)

  14. I probably will not be stopping by this weekend since the weather is awful here. I think if I do anything it will be online shopping…ha. But on a happy note, I did get my vintage short-sleeve pajamas after months of trying to score them. So cute. They fit just right…so I’ll have to watch any shrinkage in the dryer. I believe there was a shorts version and if so, I will pay full price. Yay for something good in the mail for once!

I'm holding out for something exciting for Black Friday...I always do though. :)

    2. It is free shipping. I was looking at one of them, and I think I'll bite, because it's 100% Merino and very gorgeous.

I'm looking at the Rosarie Shawl Sweater and Helene Honeycomb.

      Delete
    3. Does anyone know how the sizes on these run? I'm a M in most J. Crew but not sure what that would equate to at Blarney. Thanks!

    4. @friendly femme
I have the Rosarie on right now. It is very comfy and snug!

    5. @cate
I'm usually an xs in J crew so I ordered the xs Aran sweater. It fits a little loose but not overwhelming. They have a sizing guide @ Blarney. Hth

      Delete
    6. Wow, that is a GREAT deal for what will honestly be an heirloom item. Not exactly trendy or "fast fashion" - which, let's face it, J. Crew has become a very high-priced version of - but if you like the style, you can't go wrong w Blarney.

      Delete
    7. That's good to hear, Wendy! That rust color is gorgeous.

      Delete
    8. I bought the natural white, but rust will be my next purchase! also, the kangaroo pockets are nice too. The pocket itself is made from wool too.

    9. wow! those are some nice sweaters!

i was looking at the rosarie shawl sweater too! i swing between XS and S in jcrew... think i can get away with an XS in the rosarie?

and anyone know how long that 20%off sale at blarney is?

    10. MissJR - 20% off shawls and capes at Blarney thru 11/26.

    11. Oh the 20% off Arans at Blarney is good thru 11/25.

      Delete
    12. @Miss JR,

It depends on whether or not you want a fitted or loose look. I'm always an xs in jcrew and the xs Aran Rosarie sweater fits a little loose on me. I'm short (5'2) so the xs goes past my hips and covers my bum. It looks nice with Minnies or Matchsticks. I just ordered a Rosarie for my mom and a men's Aran sweater for my dad as Xmas presents. The quality and beauty of the Rosarie is very pretty. HTH!

      Delete
    13. Thanks Wendy!

I caved and ordered an XS. I'm only 2 inches taller so length should be good and I did want it a little more fitted. .. so fingers crossed :)

      Delete
    14. Miss JR,

Good call, esp if you want is fitted. Yes, the length will probably just be a little short but will still look good. Which color did you order?

      Delete
    15. I wish I could get all 3 actually!
Ordered the Natural color though. Figured it was the most classic. Rust is my next choice if I decide to get a second one. :)

      Delete
    16. You're right, Natural White is the most classic!

  16. I know I'm a little late to the game, but I'm looking for the translucent stone necklace (preferably in pink). Has anybody seen it at their stores? And does anyboy know how much it is currently? TIA!

  17. Any thoughts on further cuts on sale prices during Thanksgiving or do you guys think the current 40% off is as good as it gets? Don't know if I should bite on a sweater or just wait even until around or after Xmas when prices were really reduced! .

    1. Hi cuckoo - there will probably be another round of markdowns/second cuts next week, and then whatever promo shows up. Keep an eye on Gigi's in-store prices posts because it's possible something will be marked down in stores but not online.

    4. Now I understand the Tippi warm cocoa love. Was able to score one today in store $59.99 with 40% off. As for sizing, I took a small, maybe could have taken a XS but they did not have that size. 40% sale continues at my B&M. Tried on some other items but nothing I really wanted. Did try on the COLLECTION JADE FOULARD TOP item 03786, it is absolutely stunning. But they did not have my size, but I am going to wish list it for a promo.

      Delete
    5. thx gigi!! I was bought the cocoa, neon coral, and neon yellow...thought they would match the cocoa to online price but no luck. happy with my purchase all the same. People on this blog have raved about the tippis...hope i have a similar experience

      Delete
    6. AN - The cocoa Tippi should've rang up at $49.99. That's the last in-store price I know of. Neon coral is another of my favorites. If you got an addtl 40% off sale prices, yes, definitely a good deal.

  19. From the Daily Beast today (hmmm....)

Is J. Crew for Sale?: Rumors are circulating that all-American brand J. Crew may soon be sold by its owners Leonard Green & Partners and TPG Capital. While a spokesperson declared, "We don't comment on industry speculation" on Friday morning, another source told WWD that “It’s certainly not out of the question.” Although nothing is set in stone, there is speculation that the company is considering an IPO for next year, or a sale to private investors. My beautiful floral sweatshirt (the navy/copper combo) has a hole in it :( I just wore it for the first time today - the hole is where the metallic front meets the cotton sweatshirt. The threads are frayed and detached from the seam.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do you guys think that a tailor can fix it? I'm absolutely devastated because I love this top! (Sorry for being a drama queen lol).
    Thanks in advance!

    2. The collection cashmere short sleeve jewel waffle sweater shipped to me with the seams between the short sleeve and body separating. Jcas have commented about quality issues and this was the first time I've experienced that ! Now I'm a bit more skeptical about their quality esp for the high prices.

      Delete
    3. This happened to me too. It is an easy fix if you have any sewing skills. I used a needle and thread and sewed the two peices back together from the inside. A tailor would be able to fix it easily.

      Delete
    4. I agree with Alex Moller, contact CS and get it replaced. I saw them on sale $89.99 with 40% off today at a B&M.

      Delete
    5. Thanks Alex and JRS! I got them to reorder it for me, but I didn't realize it was so much cheaper in stores, so I just emailed them again to see if they'll adjust the price for me :)

@cuckoo: this is the first time I've had an issue with something I bought from a B&M, but last fall, they sent me a Lady Jacket with the sleeve lining completely ripped!

@Jamie: I'm glad you were able to fix yours! Sadly, I am not so good with a needle and thread, and I realized after closer inspection that the panel was sewn on crookedly on my shirt!

    1. There might be a 30% off but in the end it is a $4 difference (assuming it is part of the BRRR promo) and you can start wearing it. I would order it, I doubt that one will go on sale before the holidays

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I agree with Ema. Best to spend a little more than to miss out on it by waiting for a sale. You don't want to kick yourself later. Also, you can purchase it now and get a price adjustment later. Just a thought.

    3. does anyone know how this year's blackwatch is different from last years. I got a sz 4 last year but it is a lil tight on th chest.

      Delete
    4. I bought the blackwatch this year and love it. I took that size I usually buy in the perfect shirt - and it fits similarly for me (I thought boys were supposed to fit looser).

Warning - its a thin material - great for layering. I think that makes it a touch more dressy, and pretty, I think.

  27. I visited the newest vancouver store today. I really liked it. It is quite a bit larger than the other two vancouver stores. I purchased the "blah blah blah" tee and the open cardigan in Cabernet. I tried on the side button sweater in colour block in the Black and Tan colour. I loved this sweater but the fabric content was too rough and itchy for me. If they had made it in pure wool it would have been a hit for me. I also tried the black watch plaid schoolboy blaze. This was gorgeous but the fit was off for me. I thought it was shorter than my other schoolboys and the sleeves were too short and tight in the upper arms. One funny moment when I was browsing the crewcuts section I came across a sparkly tweed sweatshirt and recognized the fabric as the exact same as a skirt that I have from BR from about 4 years ago. I mentioned that to the SA that was helping me and he was a bit aghast!

  33. I stopped in on Friday and tried on several items which I posted on my blog - Merino Embroidered Lace Sweater (25% off with WINTER promo) in apricot mist and byzantine blue, Merino Scarf Sweater, Gold-Stripe Dress and Crepe Short-Sleeve Dress in Antique Red. Link here

Of course I didn't take pics of what came home with me - colorblock houndstooth pencil skirt (LOVE), Zippered Minnies and Ceces in Poppy.

My store has a whole wall of knits on sale, sweaters were pretty much decimated. They had a lot of the peter pan dresses and color block ponte dress. I did see a lone camoflage excursion vest in XL, if anyone is interested, shoot me an email fablifeforever at gmail and I can give you store details...not sure if it's still there but worth a shot.

    2. There was actually one lonely size XL hanging in the sale section at Rockefeller Center store in NYC, for $89.99 before the 40% off. I tried it on (my usual size is L) and fit was actually fine in the shoulders, a little loose otherwise. Wonderful material, substantial. It's not a fair isle style but a double knit where you see the exact reverse of the pattern on the inside. Very long sleeves which I would've loved. However I found the placement of the pattern - centered on the stomach - completely unflattering. I won't be buying this one even on deep sale.
