Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Factory - VIP isn't working anymore for 30% & fs no min. The Gilt City 25% off should still work thru Sun, 9/15.

Retail - I reviewed the tipped double-serge wool skirt, drapey henley tunic & coated stone stripe necklace here.

  2. Don't know if anyone has already posted elsewhere, but it seems JC has been slowly expanding the FALLSTYLE promo over the past few days. I think children's styles were added in the past day or two, and today I just noticed that accessories (jewelry, shoes, and handbags) have been included. Interesting...I wonder why they are doing it this way.

    1. clotted creame - I noticed FALLSTYLE on a couple of pieces of jewelry and just thought I'd missed them before.

Yesterday a SA told me there's going to big promo next week, but they haven't been told the details.

    2. Gigi- Ahhhhhhhh!! Maybe I'll just get store credit and cash in next week.

I'm really excited and I'm not sure why.

    3. Gigi, thank you for the heads up! I can't wait to find out what the promo is. I'm guessing maybe a tiered promo based on how much you spend??? Just because it seems we've seen the other types lately.

    4. jan - If I were placing a bet with my bug pin wearing bookie (not real), I'd put my money on 25% storewide & 30% off for cardholders. But I have absolutely no inside intel. I'l keep my ears open if I visit the store this weekend. The SA doesn't think she'll know until the day they announce it.

    9. Gigi, good guess on the store wide promo, that sounds likely.

Everytime I see 40% off for banana republic or Ann Taylor I think why can't jcrew do this however I think we'd all have a heart attack and also their website would crash.

  3. A lot of the FallStyle promo items I picked up in store did not ring up at the 25% off. For example the Minnie Pant. So, my advice would be to make yourself very familiar with what your specifically looking for, check the sale price online, so that when you go into the store and it doesn't ring up you don't miss out. I simply told the cashier and she checked it online and then applied the discount for me. A little bothersome that they don't already have it in the computer.

  4. Yes, I'm going. I'm feeling a little "withdrawal" as I haven't been to a store in a couple weeks ... that's so sad :)

I have a return, but I also want to try on a few things that I see are now added to FALLSTYLE.

    2. @AW- I'm quite sure those skirts are long gone in store but as unknown said its worth it to check online for pop backs if you really want it. If you're willing to check online really early in the am you might luck out. I have this skirt and love it so I think it's worth stalking lol.

If you want to be sure about store inventory, call a store and ask a SA to look up the item # nationwide in store inventory (they can see if any stores show it). HTH

  9. I have never purchased anything from Madewell but have recieved a coupon in the mail and would like to use it. How does sizing compare to J.Crew? Same? Smaller? Let me know, thanks!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Lucky duck, I've been dying for a Madewell coupon. I think it's similar sizing to J.Crew, but you can always look at the reviews (yup, Madewell actually has this!) to see how a specific item fits.

      Delete
    2. Lucky you, AK! Jeans fit similarly and they have a free return guarantee if they don't fit. Tops are usually the same or need to size down, depending on the cut. Personally, I love their scarves!

      Delete
    3. AK, could you share some details about your coupon? Thanks!

    4. Madewell mailer is for 25% off if spend 100 or over in store or online by 9/15. Just like the JCREW bounce back card, there is a bar code for store and a hard code for online use. I got one in mail before Labor Day. As AK, I had never shopped at madewell. It might be why I got the code.

      Delete
    5. Right it was a mailer. I think I got it because I just dropped a mint with j crew on a huge order recently and they are trying to get more of my money via Madewell now. My coupon is for $25 off a $100 purchase. The mailer was to serve as an introduction to the Madewell brand.

      Delete
    6. I honestly feel Madewell sizing is all over the place. Some of their stuff runs really big and some runs super small, so it's a crap shoot, IMO. I'd say in general, if it's an oversize item, go w/a smaller size. Regular silhouettes I feel run more TTS or a bit smaller than JC. Cannot comment on the jeans - that's the one thing at Madewell that I'm not crazy about. They look terrible on me. Love pretty much most everything else.

      Delete
    7. My experience with Madewell sizing has been the same as JRuby.

With regard to jeans at Madewell, they have just revamped all their styling, and I am finding them much more flattering and comfortable. They may be worth taking another look if you've hated them in the past (as I have).

      Delete
    8. I agree with Jruby18 and R on Madewell sizing. I've only tried dresses, and shirtdresses seem to run varying degrees of big on me, but some knit dresses fit perfectly while I can't fill out others. My experience has been that alpha sizes fit smaller while numeric sizes fit larger.

  11. My store was still running the 30% off sale yesterday as well as the 25% off promo for shirts, pants etc. I got the trompe l'oeil tippi sweater for $35 after the discount. They had some cute things in the store but nothing I had to have, even with the promo. I've had my eye on that sweater since it came out in the middle of summer but figured it would be discounted soon enough when it was more seasonally appropriate. Not surprisingly, I was correct.

  12. Gigi and everybody,
The "regular" Gilt site (www.gilt.com) is now offering a Gilt City Factory coupon until Tuesday 9/17 11:59 pm EST for 25% off.

You log in to Gilt, click on women's sales, then scroll down to JCrew Factory sale. When you click on "order" it refers you to sign in to Gilt City.

Odd way to do it, but it extends the deadline to Tuesday....

totally OT: Gilt is also having a Portolano cashmere sale, and has an item similar to the JCrew cashmere purl stitch snood. Not as chunky, but lots of colors, and $59.

  13. This is slightly off-topic, but are there any Orlando area JCA's? I'm going on vacation soon and I'm wondering if anyone has opinions on whether the Vineland Ave or I-Drive J.Crew outlet is better? Or whether they're about the same? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi AJL - the factory store on Vineland is a little larger than the one on I-Drive, and the crewcuts section there actually has its own separate 'store' that is attached to the main store. However, if I go it is usually to the one on I-Drive because that one is just down the street from the mall that holds the retail J.Crew store. Plus the parking is a little bit more accessible than it is at the premium outlets on Vineland. It has been awhile since I've been to that one, but the inventory always seemed to be pretty much the same at both stores. If there is a particular item or two that you are looking for, I would suggest calling each store to see if they have them in before you drive there. If you do go to the one on I-Drive, try to park near the Last Call Neiman Marcus store, because the J.Crew factory store is located near there, next to Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, and BR. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

      Delete
    2. Hi AJLin, I have been to both and find them similar. Thought the outlets themselves have different vibes. The only regular JC is @ Mall of Millenia in Orlando or there is one in Tampa. Millenia should be getting new merch Monday :)

  14. From the comments, I wonder if different stores are interpreting the FallStyle promo differently. On Tuesday I was at the b&m in Reno, Nevada and they told me that ALL sweaters, shirts, and pants (including jeans) were 25% off. They were also happy to stack my teacher discount on top of the promo, and on top of the 30% off sale as well.

    1. Lauren PhD - All sweaters, shirts & pants have been 25% off at the b&m, whereas select items were 25% off online w/FALLSTYLE. As clotted creame posted here, more items have been added to the online promo.

  15. I'm going crazy, sitting on pics & info that I don't have time to post! There have been a lot of jewelry markdowns, which I noted in the In-Store Price Guide. Look for the most current info w/red dates. A lot of the in-case jewelry has been marked down, so if you're interested in something it may be worth it to have it price checked. Will try to post the jewelry pics overnite.

  26. I did buy the Eaton in Glen Plaid which the store did not give me a discount on. Now I'm reading that they are discounting all pants? Grr the pricing games, they never end.

Anyway, the Glen Plaid Eaton trousers are really nice, very good quality and I wore them with the black suede Martinas. Really liked wearing that outfit and liked the pants enough to order the black Eatons online, which I did get a discount on. I wore the larger of my two sizes because I liked the way the loose fit looked with a slim fit shirt.

  30. I adore my two pairs of skinny utility chinos, and plan to get them in the new vintage aubergine color. Also need a new pair of black Minnies. Does anyone have info to share on the Biennial Medium Satchel? I need a black bag, but am loving the warm burgundy. Afraid it might look too "mature"! Also not sure about all the hardware on that one. Also love the Madewell Kensington Satchel. Anybody seen it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have the medium biennial in one of the taupe-y colors and I also bought it in the Aubergine. I took the Aubergine back before I ever used it. Two problems: the bag gets very heavy very fast, and everything sinks to the bottom. Everything. So much as I loved the color, I decided I didn't need to be confused and aggravated twice.

      Delete
    2. Saw madewell Kensington satchel- liked it quite a bit. Going to hold off for a sale hopefully end of season . But the leather was nice, roomy, and liked the cross body straps. And not a lot of hardware outside- kinda simple and clean, if that makes sense.hth

    3. I have the Biennial Hobo in Warm Burgundy. I love the colour - very versatile and great for fall/winter. Looks like almost like a (neutral) pop of colour against black and navy, and also blends well with browns, plums and burgundies. The 'problem' with the colour, though, is I personally don't see myself using it in spring/summer, so if you're looking for a year-round bag, I would probably still to the black you're considering.

  34. So I ended up visiting my B&M on a whim - sale section is 30% off. Most things in the store are 25% off (I saw signs for sweaters, pants, button-down shirts) and with the bounceback on top of that it was a pretty good deal. Stopped by J.Crew today and tried on a few things.
Paneled Stripe Dress in black & ivory stripe: I bought my smaller size (0) and got it for $56 after extra 30%. I also tried on the size 2. The length of the 2 was better, but the front made me look wider (must be the way all the stripes come together from different angles). I tried on the blue & white version too (also adorable), but it seemed more spring/summer, and I think I can wear the black one in the fall too. The old Jenny would have bought both, but I'm trying to do better :)

Patch Pocket Pencil Skirt (Navy): I tried on my No. 2 Pencil Skirt size (0). The waist was bigger and the hips were tighter, which is the opposite of what I need. It looks really cute, but might work better if you have narrow hips. I would have to go up a size and have the waist taken in a lot. Has anyone else had that experience with this skirt?

Long Field Jacket in Mossy Brown (XS): I really liked this and thought it fit well (with a little extra room in the hips), but the top of the jacket felt too big. I didn't have time to try the XXS, but that might work better. For reference, I have broad shoulders for my size, so this is not a common problem for me. It seems like a good midweight jacket for Fall.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jenny I tried on the patch pocket pencil skirt. I have the opposite issue. I have proportionally narrow hips so skirts are often too big in the hip area for me, but I did notice that the patch pocket skirt hugged my hips well, so I think it may have a straighter cut than some of J Crew's other pencil skirts.

  38. Stopped by to do a return and picked up a couple of sale items: jeweled sateen shell (02744) was $79.99 less 30% (online still orig. $128, less 25% with FALLSTYLE), and silk tonal paisley dress (02807) was $119.99 less 30% (online still orig. $178 ) (this is very cute dress if you like this loose shift style; it's a nice, lined medium weight silk).

  39. I stopped in at both a retail and Factory store to make some returns and browse. My bounceback coupon was burning a hole in my wallet:) I also had a Factory 10/20/30 discount card.

The retail store had 25% off all shirts, sweaters, denim and pants (i.e., the FALLSTYLE promo). Just confirming that ALL of these items were 25% off in store, not just the selected items on the website. All out of case necklaces and bracelets were also 25% off. Sale items were 30% off. It's very unclear and the signage is horrible, but the SAs were very nice about telling people. One of the SAs actually had a piece of paper with all of the promos and was pulling it out like a cheat sheet to tell customers. They stacked my bounceback on top of the promo and final 30% off items. AND they were offering water in the dressing rooms. It was good retail store visit. I feel like I haven't had one of those in a while. The Factory staff was super nice and helpful as well.

    I bought:
*Henley crepe tunic in cerise red (sized down) man, I love this color. It makes me happy.

*tossed heart shirt (stuck my normal top size)

    *white rosette necklace ($89.99+30% off+bounceback = $50.)

*crystal wildflowers necklace in spearmint (out of case necklace, but not showing up online as part of the FALLSTYLE promo )

*tippi sweater in midnight blue (nice alternative to my navy one that I wear too much)

At the Factory store I bought:

*White peplum top (sized down). 20% off. Fit much better than the retail one that was running at least two sizes too big.

*Pleated sparkle cami in both the vintage ivory and navy. 30% off. They only had one in the store in my size and it fit well, but it had make up on it (I hate that!), so I tried on the size up and it actually fit just fine. I could barely tell the difference. I liked it so much that I bought it in both colors. See Gigi's review. She inspired me to try it on:)

*Flannel button down shirt in dark saffron. 50% off. Stuck with my normal size. I am not much of a flannel shirt kind of girl, but something about this yellow plaid pattern called to me. It's a little Burberry meets J Crew.

    That's it folks!

    1. I called my local BM and they would not stack the bounce back coupon on top of the 30% off for the rosette necklace. I told her other stores were allowing this but she kept insisting it couldn't be combined And it said that on the card. So inconsistent- what gives?

      Delete
    2. Well that sucks! Sorry to hear that. I think most stores have been stacking from what I've heard. You could try going in and perhaps another more friendly SA will assist you. You could just present the card at the register after they've rung you and see what happens. I do have to say that the SAs and managers at the store I went to today (North Ave in Chicago) are usually pretty laid back and flexible about promos, etc.

    3. My local b&m also told me no stacking. JC b&ms are consistent in their inconsistency...

  40. OT: Anyone here know if "Belleandpearl" off ebay is a JCA? Looking to buy a necklace but not sure if authentic.... help! :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. snowbrdgrl I just took a look at the items the seller has available, and my guess is that it's not a JCA but a professional seller (that does not mean that the items are not authentic though). This is based solely on my personal instinct and speculation (sorry if it is a JCA!). I am saying this because usually sellers who would be on JCA are average shoppers who may have one or two items, or a range of items, like they were cleaning out their closet (job change, weight loss, bought item and never wore it, etc) or perhaps bought some items on final sale that didn't work, changed their mind, etc. All of this seller's items are new with tag J Crew necklaces (or at least that's what they are showing in the photo) which causes me to think it's not your average J Crew shopper but a professional. I have to say the necklaces in the photos do look authentic as do the tags, but as we all know, what you see is not always what you get on ebay. The seller does have 100% positive feedback. Others should chime in! Good luck.

      Delete
  41. 312JCgirl, yes I totally agree with you! I've just been burned before on ebay buying an "authentic" necklace and it ended up fake :( And the seller I bought from had tonnes of feedback, all positive too! AHHH. I guess I shouldn't risk it - I should just buy directly from the store... it's too bad there is so much fake jcrew jewelry these days, with matching tags etc also!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. There are a lot of folks out there knocking off J Crew jewelry. Many sellers like GroopDealz, Bauble Bar and Ily Couture (BTW I really like their bubble necklaces) are not claiming to be the real thing, so the prices are often more affordable, but sometimes you pay for what you get, but at least you know that going in. I have to say that I've purchased some pretty decent replicas, but if it's a classic piece that I want to keep long term (like the pave link bracelet for example) I usually just pony up and buy from J Crew directly, usually on sale or promo though:)

      Delete
    2. I think so many sellers of fake goods have great feedback is because most people can't tell the difference (or they've never seen the item IRL, so they don't know what real looks like), or for the low price they're getting, they don't really care. In my case, I've made the mistake of buying items that have turned out to be fake. When I told the sellers that I wanted to return the items, and pointed out how they differed from genuine items, they were all super kind and accommodating about the returns, but many insisted on authenticity. It's kind of hard to leave negative feedback when someone bends over backward to accept a return, and in the end your suspicion that something is fake is just that - a suspicion. In the end, I didn't leave feedback for these sellers at all...

In the end, I would really be wary of BNWT items that have never been on sale selling for way less than original retail. There is no way that the seller can be making a profit unless the item is fake or stolen. And I also agree with 312JC's further explanations of authentic sellers.

  43. The Tippi sweater in Trompe L'oeil was marked $69.99, but rang up $49.99. My store took 30% for sale items, but would not stack the 25% off sweaters with the sale promo. However, I had a bounceback card so I ended up paying less than $30 for the sweater. Hope this helps anyone looking for this sweater!

    1. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think any stores are stacking the FALLSTYLE promo on top of the 30% of the sale items:) I do think it's great that they are stacking the bounceback though!

  44. Went to return the Tippi Houndstooth sweater today. I just can't get past the larger houndstooth pattern on the shoulder area. The SA said that new arrivals will be put out this coming Thursday and was browsing through the new catalog. Of course, he didn't offer to get me one or even give me his copy and I didn't bother to ask. He's not the most helpful on staff. Go figure, right?

  45. I couldn't get to a b&m but I did purchase the skinny utility chinos in black and the matchstick jeans in black using the fallstyle promo. When snowbrdgrl posted that the sand utility chinos were on sale I ordered those too. I never would have tried the skinny utility chinos before because I thought they'd fit more like toothpicks but thanks to jca reviews I tried them a few weeks ago and liked the fit. So I took advantage of this promo.

  47. I'm curious as to where I can get a bounce back card. I have probably made 4-5 purchases online and in-store combined and have not received one. If anyone has a code they won't use, feel free to email me at pihwoah@gmail.com. Thanks in advance!

    2. Sure. I think other JCAs have mentioned this before, but just in case, if anyone uses your bounceback card in store first, make sure to snap a photo of the online code because the SAs will hold on to the card. I made that mistake with my first BB card and didn't realize I could use the online as well until I read it on JCA:(

Can anyone chime in on the fit if the perfect fit t-shirts in comparison to the vintage t-shirts....should I order the same size ? I have had issues with the linen t-shirts fitting larger than the perfect fit and well...final sale and all.... thanks

    1. I get XS in vintage cotton and graphic tees (and most shirts/tops at J.Crew), XXS in linen tees, and medium in perfect fit tees (I don't like them to be tight).
      Hope that helps!

    2. I buy the Vintage and the Perfect Fit in the same size. The Vintage is a thinner fabric and a looser fit than the Perfect Fit. If you do not want a slim fit, I would recommend sizing up in the Perfect Fit.

    3. I consistently take a small in vintage tees but a medium in perfect fit tees so it's not too slim. Sizing up still gives me a slim fit but not tight for perfect tees.

I took various sizes in the linen tees this year depending on which style.

  53. Any thoughts on the Lightweight Merino V-neck Sweater vs the Merino V-neck sweater? I see they are both listed as 'relaxed fit'. Do you recommend sizing down? I like an easy fit, but don't want to be swimming in it. The Lightweight version seems to have some really great colors. TIA

    1. Maryeb - I have the lightweight merino and I sized up as I wanted a slightly baggy fit. I think you would be find in your regular size for sure! I have it in navy and love it!

    2. maryeb - I agree w/WMM. TTS. I have S in both the lightweight merino & the regular merino v-necks. I didn't size up or down, personally. I agree it's a relaxed fit, not tight. But I didn't find it to be very loose.

    3. I have it too and agree with WMMandGigi!
