J.Crew & Madewell: 40% Off Final Sale!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following emails sent out this morning.

J.Crew is reminding customers to take an additional 40% off all sale items (no min) and free shipping ($100+) with promo code STYLE40. Yey! This code expires August 4, 2013.

Plus, they added new items to the Final Sale section. Want to know which ones just made a cut? Well, J.Crew makes it easy with a new feature: In the "sort by" drop down, choose "new to sale".  Hazaah!

Madewell is also letting customers take an additional 40% off all sale items (no min) and free shipping (no min!) with promo code COOL40. Yey! This code expires July 29, 2013.

Will you be taking advantage of this latest promotion? What are your thoughts on this sale? What do you think J.Crew should do to move out their Summer items?

  1. The collection pom-pom top is now on sale for $119.99. It was cut to the same price in-store a couple weeks ago. Thumbs up review in this post.

    1. I thought they would move to an addtl 50% off in-stores. I believe the sale merch gets moved to the warehouse in the first week of August.

More cuts from this morning at the top of the Irl Pic Guide

    3. I saw that and I would have given it a try if it weren't Final Sale. I remembered your good review but I didn't want to take the chance since I've never tried it on.

  2. Meh. They're competing for my money with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Nordstrom is winning!

    1. I love Nordstroms, but it overwhelms me. I do shop there, and I love their customer service, it is amazing, plus free shipping and free returns. But unless I am looking for something specific, I don't buy much there. The J. Crewniverse is just the right size to give me enough choices but not too many.

    2. Love love love Nordies! However, their half yearly sale this year was a disappointment IMO.

  3. Still waiting for that Swiss dot tuxedo shirt to go on sale. Hopefully it happens before this sale ends, which I think it will. :)

  5. I bought a pair of the Miri Midheel Pumps in adobe from this sale. I bought them once before but my regular size was too small so I returned them. Trying them a half size up this time at a much better price ($77). I'm also trying the short sleeved collection tee in navy and ivory. They came out to $20-something apiece so I took the chance but I am worried the ivory will be sheer, anyone know?

    1. cate - I was hoping the short-sleeve colletion tee would be a drapey, heavier white cotton. Something that felt like a modal, but was cotton. And not sheer. This is what I got. I know my body is not the one J Crew wants to showcase their stuff on, but still...

  6. I love it when J.Crew & Madewell offer 40% off, and have taken advantage of both deals to order several different items. I may even place another order or two if a few things I'm stalking popback. :)

As I mentioned earlier today in another thread, there were even more new markdowns at J.Crew this morning, and I've listed them in this post. The new promo-priced items and markdowns from yesterday are noted in this post.

I'm in the process of updating the Madewell Promo-priced items list, and will have it finished a little later this afternoon. That list can be seen here. I just received one of the promo items yesterday, and I'm wearing it today. It's the small trades simpleboat striped cap-sleeve tee. I purchased it in orange (the only color left in my size) and shared my review in the JCA review thread yesterday. It is a love for me, and I plan on getting one in another color in the near future.

  9. I saw the new schoolboy today. It looks nice. I didn't have time to try it on. The weight of it seemed a little rougher - if that makes sense. Not necessarily bad - but it did feel different. Almost like you could see the pattern of the weave more? I don't love the extra ticket-pocket - looks pretty busy over there. But the biggest disappointment is they didn't extend the cute stripe lining down the arms :( The arms are lined in black. This is a big bummer if you ever roll the sleeves back. Jury is still out I guess. Length was not an issue for me as the tall works. At first glance, I prefer the "old" version.

    2. Ok sorry for all of the posts - but one of the "highlights" of the new schoolboy is the stripe lining to "show off when you cuff your sleeves" - per the web site. I looked at the black, navy and grey and none had the striped lining down the sleeves. CFS needs to update the web site.

    3. I, personally, wish they had left the schoolboy alone...I thought it was perfect the way it was...happy I own several and won't feel the need to purchase the new version. On a different note, I love, love the PRE-ORDER COLLECTION ETTA PRINTED CAP TOE PUMPS...beautiful! Wish I could justify the purchase...I normally wait for Etta's to hit the sale section...fingers crossed. :)
