Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Stopped by the outlet today and was surprised that the prices were not better! They were about the same as online, no super great deals. The lobster sweater was only $5 off. They did not have any of the new cotton charley sweaters, which was the main reason I went. Maybe the prices will be better for the weekend. I think it was 30% off denim, 20% off shirts, 20% of the herringbone schoolboy blazers, and 20 or 30% off the factory Naomi tops. Sales section was super sad and picked over, as was the crewcuts section. Overall, it looked very spring-y!

  3. Hi all , i have a pair of the camel plaid cafe capris in 00 that I'm returning to the store unless a JCA wants thembg

I bought them in the 25% off promo when 00 was available, so I'm selling them for 120, which is the current price. Please send me an email at maqsadshop at gmail dot com if you're interested.

    3. Oh my...since I live in stripes, the first photo you scanned with the print sweater and green stripe pants with a ribbon belt at the waist - I LOVE!!

I am also loving the No.2 Pencil skirt in that paisley navy/pink/cream color, and of course the sequin stripe pencil skirt in green I love as well.

I can't wait for the February roll out next week. Thanks for scanning, KnitYarns!

  9. Probably not - I visited earlier in the week and the sale section was pretty cleaned out - plus, I checked on UPS and I think I have 3 (!!) packages arriving from JC today...

Off topic, does anyone have a Factory coupon code they could spare me? There's a few things I want to get but they are promo priced so the discount code does not work on them. My email is stylishchemist at gmail dot com. Thanks in advance!!

  10. OT but does Madewell ever have % off their regular price sales like JCrew did before the holidays?

Also, for those of you looking for excursion vests, I have not seen them in any of the JCs on Long Island, NY. Sorry! I wish I had bought one for myself as well. Maybe next winter!

  11. I am going in today. I received my 40 off package w/the Nolita jean jacket and a few other items. The Nolita was a bit big on me in a Med. so I am going to go in and try out a sz. S. I expect to find nothing in the sale section as it was already picked to the bones last week. A couple quick reviews. I got the tissue t-shirt material beige/cream infinity scarf (snood?). I LOVE it!! It drapes fabulous and isn't too hot as some of the knit ones can be. I hadn't planned on keeping it, but I am! I also ordered the Anchor Knot bracelet as a ride-along to try. I love that one as well! I'm hanging onto it for now, but hoping it will go down in price. Most likely I won't keep it at FP, but it really looks great on, and fits the wrist nicely. Is a nice heavy weight. Very clean and modern looking. I could see wearing it all the time - casual or dressy. My only complaint is that the gold is kind of shiny which makes it look a little, I don't know, less expensive. Looking forward to seeing new arrivals. I just got an email w/my rewards code, so I may cave in and buy something!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nice they are sending emails now w/ rewards codes. I need to return a free-shipping ride along. Doubt there will be much left in the sale section but will check it out anyway. Happy shopping!!

  13. OT--Refinery 29 has a story on stylish working women and asks them where they shop (in addition to showing off their outfits). All are NYC based and all mention the usual suspects--Saks, Barneys and . . . J Crew. I thought this was interesting and indicative that JCrew is in fact penetrating that market.

  14. Saw pink excursion vests at Cambridgeside Galleria (MA) yesterday, not sure what sizes. Sale section was all but empty.

  15. I have to return some Land's End stuff to Sears, which happens to be semi-near J.Crew, so I suppose I have to stop in. My b&m is small and doesn't get any of the good stuff, so am not getting my hopes up.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I will not be going! I did well in the sale section earlier this week (and last week, and the week before) and I have a Nolita Jean Jacket on the way. I need to take a shopping/J.Crew break now that I have finished with the winter sales. But, I will probably go in next week once I get the jacket to compare the S I have on the way to an XS.

  17. I went by UVillage in Seattle yesterday. They had 50% off sale items, but a tiny section, and most of what was available was in 00 and 12. There were lots of empty shelves around the store; they're clearly getting ready for a shipment. Madewell next door had a larger sale section with 30% off. Some good deals on shirts and shoes in non-basic colors.

  18. OT - I have a 25% Coach coupon that needs a good home. I bought two of the legacy bags last month - Tanner tote and Candace. Really love both - leather is thick and both bags stand nicely. 19. Way OT but does anyone have any experience with J Crew Wedding/Brisdemaid dresses? Looking for a "casual" wedding dress (if such an item exists) for mid April wedding. There are some lovely shorter brisdemaid dresses but the colors are not suitable!!

any info is much appreciated thanks :)

    1. Lauren, what size are you? There is a cute cas dress I saw on eBay, NWT, for cheap, and in general, you can find the more casual J.Crew wedding dresses on eBay all the time. If you got one cheap enough, you could get a longer one and have it shortened.

Shoot me an e-mail if you want to discuss further. jca837 at gmail. My wedding dress is a more casual J.Crew one and I've spent a lot of time on this subject!

    2. I bought a J.Crew wedding dress in 2006. It was the Avery in Ivory Silk. It was for a beach wedding and it was perfect. It was $300 at the time. I was very happy and thought the quality was as good as many $1000-$1500. I spend $75 on alterations to get a perfect fit as you would for any wedding dress. I think getting one of them shortened might be a good way to go casual.

      Delete
    3. A true JCA, I wore 4 different JCrew dresses in the course of my wedding weekend for rehearsal dinner, getting ready, the ceremony and reception. I have no regrets. The two long gowns, both bought on clearance, were perfect for my traditional but not too formal wedding, and one even fit perfectly off the rack.

One suggestion for you would to be make a full-length JCrew ivory dress more casual by altering it to knee length.

      Delete
    4. @Kelly -- sorry, I just noticed you already made that suggestion!

      Delete
  20. @Lauren - sorry reply not working. I went to JCrew wedding salon in 5th avenue store NYC and tried all chiffon gowns they had. I was looking for something simple and light. After choosing Arabelle gown I bought it from ebay and saved quite a lot of money. The only difficult part was tracking the right color. JCrew had different shades of ivory/white issued in the different years under the same item numbers so I had to call JCrew and email sellers.

I got the Cobalt Blue colour.

    3. That's really good to hear! It's always a bit of a risk ordering things that can't be returned, sight unseen!
I'm really looking forward to it arriving, even though its still stinking hot in Sydney.

Just one other question: does it fit true to size? I usually wear 00 P (am v short!) and ordered this in 00 P. am hoping it won't swamp me!

      Delete
    4. Ruth, I did the same thing and did gasp a little when I opened the box. But love it and gotten lots of 'love your blue coat'. I am short too, 5'1" and shrinking. I got a 6P my usual coat size for J Crew. I usually wear a 4 or 4P but in J Crew coats I found 6P perfect. This is slim fitting but I can wear a shirt and cardi and still able to move. It is a wonderful coat you will love it.

      Delete
    5. Thanks JRSConifer! I think the size should be ok. Sydney winters aren't very cold usually so I won't need to layer too much under it.
I'm v excited for its arrival. I've seriously bought almost a complete winter wardrobe from the J Crew site in the last month! Hard to resist when the clothing choices here are so limited in my size and so expensive.

      Delete
    6. Ruth,
I also have a P00 and it fits like a glove. It is suppose to be mid thigh but it hits just above the knees on me because I am very short too. But the proportions of this coat are right on. It does not overwhelm small frames. I've gotten so many compliments . I think bright color winter coats are the way to go. Everyone wears black in the winter and its a bit of a drab. I have a yellow lady day as well as a red metro coat. All from jcrew. Wearing them in the bleak mid winter makes me feel happier. Hope you enjoy the coat. Don't worry about the color being too bright. I promise, you are going to get compliments left and right. Let us know how you like the coat when it arrives.

    7. Thanks bella! Good to hear :-)
I love bright colours, so am sure I will love it.

    9. Lauren,
Is Caribbean pink more of a muted color? It looks so pretty online and I thought about getting it for my sister. She doesn't wear super bright colors. I think slim trench coat is one of the best Jcrew coats ever.

  26. Sale room at Eaton Centre is dwindling but still some very good deals as they continue the 50% off sale prices. Lots of the Majesty peacoat in the bright pink, ditto the excursion vest in pink and beige, a few black watch trenchcoats, a good selection of the quilted jackets and that harris-tweedy coat in the brown colourblock . All the navy and herringbone vests seem to be gone. Also quite a lot of cashmere still - the cashmere Tippi in the stripes is down to $45 after the discount. You need to look seriously but there are still finds to be had. AND they were applying the educator discount on top!

    1. Lucky Canadian dwellers! How much was the Majesty? Has anybody seen it marked down in store in the US?

    2. The peacoat was $199 CAD down from $320; with the 50% + the 15%, it ended up at $85. My sister and I both pounced - too good to pass up. Lucky enough to find one in black and one in the bright blue. Not sure if any of the other 2 JCs in town have any of these coats still.

  30. Went to the Corte Madera store this week with a few returns and to my astonishment, there was a lovely tippi cashmere in my size -- for only $70 including tax, could not resist. 5. I did order something from that small update, the cashmere zip front hoodie in gray. A zip-front cashmere caridgan hoodie has been on my list for months (an old one is going to bite the dust soon). It won't ship until April 16th, but I don't care, the price came to $98 which isn't fabulous but still not bad for something I have really wanted. I don't know why this was on sale/promo, it seems new, but I'm not complaining!

      Delete
    6. I ordered the hoodie as well! lets hope it ships. The last two items I ordered from the sale that were wait listed were cancelled...Poppy Viv flats and Camp Popover in stripe. So disappointed because I really wanted both :(

      Delete
    7. Oh no, LizT, that stinks. I don't think the hoodie was a pop-back so it will probably ship. There was a full size run, and I checked after I ordered it to see if the size I ordered disappeared from the list and it did not. The hoodie is not on the web site now, though. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of their inventory process.

    8. I have the hoodie in two colors (heather dusk and heather caramel and it is one of my favorite cashmere sweaters, if not my favorite. It fits perfectly and in those colors doesn't pill (I wear the heather dusk constantly). 35. Went to the Park Meadows, CO store, sale section has dwindled still 50% off. The SAs said all sale merchandise is shipping back to the warehouse next week, they are happy to see it go. I did get a February Style Guide which was not on display but was told New Arrivals will be out next Saturday. I must admit I went through it 3 times trying to find something to jump out at me. Lots of pastel colors which is nice, dots have been replaced by checks, pale shades of brocade, interesting capris if you like those. Noticed some colors are the same just new names, shallow sea is now timeless turquoise. Beautiful new liberty print, June's Meadow, navy background, in toothpick, shirt and Schoolboy. Also, a mixed stripe (looks black/white) Schoolboy which looks beautiful. Looks like the Jules has been replaced with Rosie which is equally as short, believe there have been reviews on that. But that is shown in a couple of fabrics. My new favorite No 2 Pencil for this season is in Sea Glass, will wait for it to go on sale. Word was minter...interesting mint is the color of the season

  36. I went to the Robson st store in Vancouver last night. The sale section is still quite large but mostly larger and smaller sizes. There is quite a bit of the cashmere on sale. I picked up a cashmere tippi in vintage Kelly for 45$, a cashmere turtleneck in the flax colour for 70$ and a cashmere wrap also in the flax colour for 45$. My big purchase was the majesty pea coat in the fuchsia colour for $100. It was interesting that they also have a lot of early fall/winter items in stock. For example they had at least half a dozen of the herringbone sweater with the jewelled Peter Pan colour - at full price.

    1. Thanks for the Robson update! I haven't had a chance to pop by there since just after Christmas when they were running the 50% off sale prices promo. Besides the Majesty pea coat, were there many other coats on markdown? When I was there last, there weren't any coats on sale.

    2. @nance, went there this morning. Didn't see any other coats on sale. There were a bunch of toothpick/matchstick jeans/cords on sale, lots of cashmere like shima said,a few brocade dot skirts, tipped hacking jackets, wool Minnies in cabernet, tons of tees... Saw the new Coraline pumps and Liberty Cece's. New items are trickling in. Snagged a couple pairs of dark rinse bootcut jeans for a song, still FP on the site (eye roll).

  44. I picked up the new style guide at a factory store yesterday ... first time I have ever seen them there.

I have to say there is a LOT I LOVE in the retail line this time around, after a number of disappointing seasons. There are a lot of items that seem fresh and wearable to me yet classic enough to invest FP, and the styling isn't so freakish. I was delighted to see the return of the ribbon belts peeking through in a couple outfits - I adored them the first time around.

My JC purchases had ground to a halt, but I see more this time of what I love about the brand.

    2. I saw a few of them at the Vancouver BC store. I did not check sizes. They were full price which was 118$ cdn. Not sure if that helps if you are in the USA.
